381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BlockChain innovation ... Locking your coins against transfer? on: October 06, 2017, 01:09:22 AM
With all the scams, hacks, and phishing going on, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a project that allows you to lock your coins against transfer at the BlockChain level.  I.e., set a password, or some other system, that would prevent a transfer even if someone got your private keys, hacked an online wallet, key logged your computer, etc.  Heck, there are even people pooling resources to "check" private keys for balances.

It wouldn't be ideal for active traders, but for hodlers, I'd do it.

You want to lock your coins (all blockchain based currencies? or just your BTC pledged in some ICO?) so that even with the private key, the coins are unable to be sent?

I dont think this feature is particularly useful. As far as i know, the probability of your private key being found is amazingly small.

If you are referring to the Bitcoin Collider thread here on the forum, i believe they are targeting 'weak' private keys, and even explicitly mention some types of wallets they do not target, likely due to the fact its too difficult.

Bottomline is, don't worry that your private keys will be found/generated randomly. If this happened on a regular basis, people would have been out of crypto by now.

I was thinking about this because there was someone on here a day or two ago that believed their coins were stolen as a result of using public WiFi while on a vacation, which probably led to someone stealing their username/passwords if they logged into an online wallet.   ... And on the slack channels, everyday I see people falling for the fake "MyEtherWallet" links, which is theft by private keys.  I was just trying to imagine a way that would stop scammer and hackers from transferring the funds, since there are vulnerability being exploited everyday.
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Airdrops & Forks: An ongoing, updated list of Altcoin Giveaways on: October 06, 2017, 12:16:24 AM
I wanted to give this a try.  I want to keep an ongoing list of Altcoins that can either be claimed by future "airdrops", and/or past forked coins that can be claimed through the block chain.

I'll add them when I see them, but I'm hoping the community will contribute by adding suggestion for upcoming airdrops, making corrections, or letting me know when an airdrop campaign has ended so that it may be removed from the active list.  Please post below.

I'm going to try to continuously keep post #1 up to date, so that there is an easy place to get air drop ideas without going through dozens of pages.

If you want an airdrop/fork added, please make it easy on me by posting in this format:

Name:
Type (Airdrop/Fork):
Date:
Registration required (Y/N):
Signature required (Y/N):
Link:

Edit:  Any advice on working with the "table" feature here.  It looks like it's wrapping the coin name column for some reason.  Had to remove spaces.

385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcons are just empty numbers on the internet without any value or legal power on: October 05, 2017, 05:56:04 PM

the first thing that you said i agree with that, its how the people accept it, whose speculations that OP raises are already been ask before hand, we are now in the stage where peoples interest are already been gathered the value of this great investment  already been supported by silent businesses and yet a lots of establishment are also setting their business integrating with btc.
Price is NOT the same as value. Value of an entity comes from its capacity to satisfy human wants. Price on the other hand is the amount of money given in payment for something. Value describes the benefits of ownership which include utility - the pleasure or satisfaction gained by consumption of a particular good or service; and rights - the ability to gain goods or services in the future(Dollars). With Bitcoins you don't have such utility as they are neither goods nor services nor rights. Bitcoins are just empty numbers. The mere fact that people are willing to buy them has nothing to do with their value.

So what if my "human want", and the "human want" of a few million or so other people, is to hold a digital currency?  Then would you agree Bitcoin has value?

I mean, you could make these sort arguements about Gold.  It's a soft metal that is partically useless except for in very limited industrial applications.  But it's pretty and shiny so we price it at $20,000 a pound.  But most people who want gold as an investment put it in a safe and never admire how pretty it is ... Like Bitcoin, for some, it's utility is simply a store of value.
386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcons are just empty numbers on the internet without any value or legal power on: October 05, 2017, 05:29:24 PM
The value of any investment that is traded on the open market is whatever someone else is willing to pay for it.  Period.  Same for Stocks.  Same for Bonds.  Same for Fiat Currency.  Same for property.  Same for baseball cards.  Same for Numismatic Coins.  Same for Paintings.  Etc.  Etc.  As long as people are willing to pay for BitCoin, it will have value.
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HELP ME REVEAL MY ENCRYPTED PRIVATE KEYS FOR A REWARD on: October 05, 2017, 05:23:59 PM
As best as I can tell, your private key was encrypted by you, on your browser.

According to their website:  "Encryption is done in the browser before your Bitcoin keys are saved on our servers."

So at some point, I'd think you'd have to have set the password for the encryption.  In an earlier post, you wrote that Strongcoin encrypted your private key without your permission, but that doesn't seem to be how it works.  Whatever the password is, it looks like you set it, so try some the common passwords you use ... like whatever you use to log into their website.

388  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ETH address honeypot? on: October 05, 2017, 02:54:25 AM
There is a similar scam run with Counter Party/Bitcoin.  Someone posts or leaks their wallet address with some counter party assets.  You need to add a small amount of Bitcoin to transfer a counter party asset, so they have a script that moves the Bitcoin out before the transfer is made.
389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency that pays Weekly-Monthly Dividend? on: October 04, 2017, 04:11:59 PM
Pretty much any Proof of Stake coin pays a "dividend" if you stake it and keep your wallet unlocked.  If you have enough, you'll get shares daily, or even a few times a day.  I'm currently staking Deep Onion which distributes about 10% APR as of now.
390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold (BTG) on: October 04, 2017, 03:59:45 PM
Bitcoin Gold? What the heck is that? I've never heard of it before. Btw, on marketcoincap, BTG is assigned to Bitgem.

Is there a way to mine BTG ? Is there a special wallet on Windows?

From what I've read, they are going to change the Algo to Equihash, which is supposedly friendly to GPU and even CPU mining.  But you won't be able to mine it until after the fork.
391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold (BTG) on: October 04, 2017, 03:57:56 PM
As far as i know you can get free Bitcoin gold if you have bitcoin
on the Exodus Wallet  before october 25.
In my opinion it is another fork like bitcoin cash and everyone will earn some free money nothing more than that.

wtf is the exodus wallet? So they are gonna fork to BTC gold...but only if you have all you btc on a wallet I never heard of?

yeah ....that is not a true fork...that is a gimmick Smiley

No, you are guaranteed to be able to claim your BitCoin Gold by holding it on any wallet where you can access your private keys.  Exodus is just one example of the type of wallet you can use.  This probably won't be much different than the BCH fork, where you could either hold it in your own wallet, or find an exchange that claims they will hold it for you, and distribute your Bitcoin Gold to you after the fork.

Warning for Slack Users ... I just got a scam message through the Deep Onion Slack Channel, claiming I had to sign up for "myetherwaillet" (<- note the misspelling) ... This is a coin stealer, the sender is not associated with Deep Onion, don't follow the links.
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: DEEPONION airdrop, how do i get it? on: October 03, 2017, 01:14:12 PM
In addition to what is already mentioned, I'd suggest going to deeponion.org, register on their forums, make some posts there, get to know the community and the coin.  There are links to faucets and giveaway contests you can participate in.  Once you've ranked up, you can give the airdrop a shot.  From the looks of their stats, they decline 2 for every 1 they accept into their campaign, so try to make good posts here across the forums.  It's a great campaign and the coin could be something big in the future, so the extra effort is worth it, IMO.
394  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus Wallet , BCG? on: October 03, 2017, 12:44:02 AM
Exodus Wallet , BCG?
can our Exodus Wallet able to get BCG ?

I'm 99% sure the answer on that is NO., but can ask them on their Slack channel.  They are very active over there.  http://exodusmovement.slack.com/
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WRONG MONEY ON WALLET on: October 02, 2017, 09:18:09 PM
I wonder if what you are seeing is 5 Tokens showing up in your etherwallet ...  not 5 ether.  OMG is a ether based token, and will be "attached" to your etherium address.  It could just be that your wallet doesn't support etherium tokens very well.  You could try importing that wallet into myetherwallet (make sure you get the right myetherwallet, because there are a ton of fakes out there that will steal your etherium), but since OMG is ~$9, I bet the 5 tokens you are seeing are your OMG.
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC/ETH Wallet hacked ($550k) stolen on: October 02, 2017, 09:09:22 PM
IDK but i think that 2FA is enough, not? When i have phone verification there is no way how to hack me...anyone disagree?

2FA is good, but not "hack proof".  One way is to get your hands on your private keys.  If someone gets that, they can easily drain your wallet.  But there was also an article the NYTs the other day where hackers had not only accessed someone's coinbase account, but they had switched the phone service over to a new phone that the hackers controlled, so they could authorize the transactions.

397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs Explores a New World: Trading Bitcoin? on: October 02, 2017, 08:32:20 PM
I hate the idea of Goldman Sachs getting involved.  They are biggest Wall Street crooks and banksters out there, and given their enormous size and the relatively small size of the Bitcoin market, it would just be a matter of time before they have learned how to manipulate this market.
398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡ [ANN] ⚡ DeepOnion TOR Integrated ⚡ No ICO 🚀 FREE Airdrops 🚀 12 of 40 Rounds on: October 02, 2017, 01:54:58 AM
Ive been registered on Deeponion.org and posting there a little, but I use a different name on there than I do here.  I did enter my BTC ID Number when I registered, so I assume the accounts are linked, but I just want to verify that using different usernames would not cause confusion/blacklisting.
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who is paying for Steemit? on: October 01, 2017, 03:24:33 PM
As my own understanding , all the payment to authors and curators is through a special mining , where same like BTC , every 10 mins one block and each block have certain amount of Steem as reward , authors and curators is like the miners , as of why do ppl buy Steem in exchange , it is just like why do ppl buy BTC? It's a type of investment if you think Steem has potential , besides I think if the dev decided to take ads from advertiser in the future, these advertisers will pay in Steem which increase the demand for it

Just my understanding , tell me if I'm wrong

Thank you for posting this.  I've also wondered where the steem payouts come from for the authors and curators.  I assumed it was newly minted rewards, but I wasn't entirely sure.  I also understand that you are more likely to get future rewards if you hold a lot of steem in your account, so if you want to be a steem author that gets noticed, it is advisable to purchase some steem off a exchange and hold it in the account you publish from.
400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BOWHEAD HEALTH Project SCAMMED Bounty Hunters! on: October 01, 2017, 02:52:49 PM
I'm not involved in this project as a bounty hunter, but after reading the Bounty Thread, I have to agree that the bounty hunters are getting screwed over big time.  The original boundary hunter announcement clearly says "1% of the total supply" will be divided for bounty and campaigns ... now they decided to lock 92 million coins, and are arguing that "total supply" and "circulating supply" means the same thing, and reducing bounty payouts by 92%.  Bowhead needs to make this right, and trying to entice the same people to do more work for them and maybe get paid something later isn't cutting it.  I've been running a professional business for a long time, and the first hard lesson you learn is don't get in deeper once your client has shown they don't respect you and will cheat you.
