381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Compiling Mac Clients for ANY Alt Coin, Your Choice! on: May 26, 2013, 05:26:43 AM
UPDATE: I found and fixed a startup crash bug that was affecting all the wallets I posted above, on some systems. I also fixed a blockchain bug in the Luckycoin wallet. If you downloaded any of those wallets before the time of this post, please re-download them.

1000 USC to compile a USC client for Mac OSX Smiley

Okay, here's a Mac compile of the USCoin wallet: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vjwhgy99mlfp61k/USCoin-Qt-0.6.3.0-Mac.zip

If this works well and you think it deserves the bounty, my USCoin address is: URhgVofm2QDYp5qC9qRYchzXKz4xGYiwQR

Enjoy!

Could you Please make a Qt client on mac for GLD (Goldcoin)?

There is a bounty of 1000GLD for that

Try this one:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/bqrdat2bct7p135/GLDCoin-Qt-0.6.3.1-Mac.zip

If it works and you like it, my GLD address is Dyn4ZvvQdRrjMgDzSMsj3sPs5CVuoTQpsN -- but I saw that shakezula has been working on this, so he should really get most of the credit and the bounty.

I can try! I might not be able to get to it today, though.

Okay, I compiled a Mac version of the LKY wallet. It works on my machine, but if others could try it, that would be helpful. You can download it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/846aeh8ys488u86/Luckycoin-Qt-0.6.3.0-Mac.zip

If you try it out and feel that it fulfills the bounty, my LKY address is LFbZvfyMFypVuraKULD54SLd4S3wmmfHaW Smiley

Enjoy!

EDIT: Fixed a bug that prevented the wallet from synching. Please re-download if you downloaded earlier and are getting "Displayed transactions may not be correct" errors.

Small update: At ryanb's suggestion, I changed the wallet's icon from the default Litecoin icon to the WDC icon. The download link is the same. Thanks, ryanb!

Try instead:

Code:
./worldcoind

On further thought I could perhaps add a place to type in your passphrase.

I did get things working by changing the URL, thanks! But I do think this is a good idea. It would make things a little more user-friendly (although generally I think the site is very easy to use).
389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help on IXCOIN ! on: May 24, 2013, 03:47:44 PM
Yes, IXCoin is the only wallet that I have problems with.  My situation is that it will load - get 8 connections - load 500 blocks - and then stop.  It'll sit with that particular block count for days.  If I close out the wallet and restart, it will load an additional 500 blocks exactly and then stop again.

I've re-installed, added the node as described in this thread, and more.  Very strange.

Strangely enough, I had that problem with the Windows wallet, but when I built the wallet from source on Linux, it worked fine. I wonder if the Windows binaries are based on older source code?

I'd bet that you are right.  Unfortunately, the more I look at IXCoin, the more I'm convinced that it is a standing corpse.

I hope this changes - but - just look at http://www.ixcoin.org/.  Most links are dead and even the Windows wallet available for download is not up-to-date.

You may be right. But as long as I can still merge-mine them and exchange them, I like having a wallet. Smiley

393  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Litecoin GPU mining on a Mac? on: May 23, 2013, 01:23:33 PM
I was CPU mining on my iMac, getting about 20 Kh/s.

Then I decided to try GPU mining.  My terminal window says it's getting 60+ Mh/s, but when I log into my pool website, it says I'm only getting ~14 Kh/s.

I'm also mining on my iphone 5 (for fun) using MobileMiner.  It says I'm getting 0.79 Kh/s and the pool says 3 Kh/s.

What's the deal?

There doesn't seem to be a direct correlation between hash speed on your system and what the pool reports. For me, it tends to fluctuate depending on how many accepted shares I've sent over the last couple of minutes. I wouldn't worry about the difference.
Thanks, all my shares are being rejected too.  I just started an hr ago.

What are you mining, and what's your cgminer configuration?
LTC, I have the intensity at 9, not sure how to tell you what the config is.  Noob here.  My imac is locked down, I'm on my mpb here.  up to 59 Kh/s now on pool.

Make sure you're passing the "--scrypt" command line option to cgminer if you're mining Litecoins. Otherwise it will try to submit SHA256 shares, which are used for Bitcoin but not Litecoin, and they'll all be rejected.
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][WDC] Mac Worldcoin-Qt client on: May 23, 2013, 01:05:45 PM
Bit off topic, but, you can mine with a Mac?

You can, but it's not very efficient. Apple's OpenCL implementation is somehow broken and you get about half the hashrate you should. You can always boot into Windows using Boot Camp and use the Windows drivers and tools.

Wallets work fine on a Mac, though. Smiley

I had similar experience with the mac line...really slow and not worth it

It definitely works better under Boot Camp/Windows 7 for me.

Bump. Anyone care to give this a try?

Maybe I'm being dense, but how do I access my data on a second computer? If I go to Custom Folio and enter my passphrase, I just get "Error: Already in use". I don't see anywhere else to enter my passphrase. Help?

I've compiled a Mac version of the Worldcoin wallet. It works well on my Mac, and is way better than opening up Parallels to run the Windows wallet, so I'm sharing it in case anybody else finds it useful.

This build is from the latest Github sources as of this morning. I built the app on Mountain Lion, and I think it should work on Lion and above. I'm not so sure about Snow Leopard and below. Until a few other people try it out, I would treat it as beta software, and back up your wallet.dat early and often.

Give it a try, let me know how it works!

For those who are interested, I compiled the client using the steps for compiling Mac Qt clients that we've been discussing in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=205017.0 - So thanks to jrlepage and bushstar for their help.
