There is no usefulness of erc20 as payments, but yes some project has launched their mainnet after starting with erc20, they might get into some good position if the fiat transaction is quite stable over Bitcoin. To your questions answer, NO it is not true that 90 percent coin will die. Only scam coins will die, so before investing do your own research whether its a scam project or not.   If you are not sure, invest only in top 20 coins from coinmarketcap list.

I don't think BCH can survive again as they are forking again which is really very untrustworthy for long terms investors. Also, BCH has no real working products like ETH has, you can see most ICO's using ETH and a lot of online portals accepts ETH and BTC but not the BCH.I think you should stay with ETH instead of investing in any unrealistic project like BCH.
