381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how long have your video cards lived mining 24/7? on: February 06, 2018, 12:29:25 PM

Always calculate your card on the max power they need (TDP), more space safer. Also, we need to know about power, how much PCIe power can produce by PCIe 1x/16x on the motherboard. How much power can produce by MOLEX, SATA, PCIe 6, PCIe 6+2..etc.

I have been keeping my cards at 100% power for both my water cooled 1080ti and my 1070

the water cooled 1080ti sits at 57 c and the 1070 at 65c

am I doing it wrong by leaving them at %100 power? (everything else hasnt been touched except custom fan speed with temp)

are you all lowering your power levels to make the cards last longer?
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Impossible to Buy GPUS on: February 06, 2018, 03:48:06 AM

Technically its MSRP + $20, since this is the same card without the hybrid cooler.  I remember when I first started mining, my first 2 cards were refurbished evga 1080s that I got for $450 each, absolute steal.  I had the computer in my bedroom and quickly realized the amount of noise and heat I would have to deal with.  Shortly after I ordered 2 of their hybrid coolers for $125 a pop.  Best decision I ever made, cut the noise by 80% and didn't have to deal with throttling issues from my top card blowing a massive amount of heat on the card below it.  These hybrid cards are well worth the premium in my opinion.

are they water cooled?

my 2 video cards are heating up my upstairs house

If all your expecting out of mining is checking whatomine for daily fiat prices, then it's your fault for getting in for the wrong reason.

you didnt answer my questions.

Are these "normal levels"for mining ?

this is more a question for someone whos been around for 3-4 years, so you can take your 2 cents back

You don't have to be around for 3-4 years to answer this question.  There is this thing called a historic chart, you should try checking it out sometime!  https://coinmarketcap.com/  Search for any coin that you are wondering what the "normal" value is.

P.S.  There are always exceptions, but many times the most profitable coins will not be on the default page of whattomine.

I dont want to look at the historical charts of 1000 shits coins on coinmarketcap I want to know if $10 a day, with 4 1080tis is what the miners were making before this bubble. bit coin is nearing $5000 so the whales manipulated the whole shit

I only bought 1 video card, some people put their houses up for this coin
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ZERO - fork of Zcash with harder mining params on: February 06, 2018, 03:31:21 AM
why cant I mine this equihash with other miners? Why do I need to use optimizer? I can get 450 sols with other miners with this I get like 10

This is not same algo as zcash, thats why u need to use optiminer with 192_7 parameters.

Cheers,

still 10 sols on a coin with an unlimited supply? where the the rest of the hashes going?

Too many scammers in the crypto arena nowadays.
Especially the high profit coins, most of them seem to be ponzi schemes sadly.

Earned 2.xx Tune coins according to the pool page, nothing shown in my wallet, 0 coins to be mined on pool now.
And that's supposed to be the official pool from the coin's creator... talk about credibility fiasco.

that sucks, was going to mine this coin but not now

and thats with 0 electricity cost

just checked what time mine, 4 1080tis struggle to make $10. And 4 Vegas struggle to make $10.... Are these "normal levels"for mining ? I guess I came into the game at the height of the bubble so I dont know

im wondering when do the video card prices come down?

a vega should go back to being $450 and a 1080ti back to its normal price...

Why you guys before launch this coin, are no prepare with all that you need for it, web, wallet, etc, one of the most adverse situations for peoples that want to join the crypto world, is exactly, the lack of info, it look good and i can put a miner to work here but i have not time to play with ssh or  console to get  a wallet.
Reply when you guys have easy wallet that I can download and I will put couple rigs and give you guys donation to keep the project

someone OG miner said that...when DEVS release a wallet that people have to build, thats when they start  mining aiming nicehash at their block to rape it. this is a sneaky little way to do a PREMINE

educate other miners when you see this happening again
391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining house, free electricity. 55degC, 90%+ humidity. Feasible? on: February 05, 2018, 08:25:54 PM
Hello wonderful community,

We are thinking of packing this lovely place with 1080ti’s left and right. We will initially start with 18 GPUs to test the waters and see where the market is headed in Q2/Q3, after which we will go full throttle and aim to fit around 80-120GPUs in this lovely small space. Length is 260cm, width is 180cm, and height is 280cm. 2 aluminum vertical stacks across the MDB, each stack will have 6 rigs. Electricity is FREE. Outside temperature: Max of 55 degC with 90%+ humidity. Pictures below.

Questions time  Grin

[General] Is this feasible given the weather conditions? Would you go for this opportunity? What would you do differently? How would you lead this?

[Heat Management] a window AC will be installed in the already available slot. Another 2 ton AC will probably be installed above the MDB to spray the 2 racks with cool air. Will too much cooling increase the risk of humidity damaging the GPU’s everytime the door is opened? Should the temperature differential be minimal so avoid “fogging up”? In July/Aug, whenever you leave the car your glasses “fog up”. Will the GPU fog up and short? How can this be mitigated? Perhaps put some cut-up plastic drapes on the door to prevent humidity from entering? Any other foreseeable problems with heat management?

[Electrical] Below are pictures of our power source, can any of the electrical gurus on here guesstimate how much Amperes we will be limited with? I understand that a 6 GPU rig will take around (2500W). Power outlets here are 220/240 volts at 50 Hz, but it seems like we can take power straight from the board. If so, how can we do this?

[Framing] With a height of 280cm, how many rigs can I vertically stack? (Priority will be heat management) What is the recommended width of an aluminum stack?

Thank you in advance for any sort of feedback, help, and ideas! Will keep updating this thread.

395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dinero DIN Masternode/POW NeoScrypt Coin on: February 05, 2018, 07:43:48 PM
Too many coins are the same. I wonder why people keep mining a coin that after being robbed by pools, 50% go to masternodes. Why push yourself to robbers?

A wrong thought
Masternode creates profit for investors, and offers an opportunity to increase the price of coin for the miner.
No one's robbed

master nodes are a sneaky little way to call an ICO

for example. they make it so hard that miners can never mine enough for a node, yet want to sell nodes.

nodes are not a miners friend.

Yes they are, because miners sell the coins needed for the rest of us to get a Node.  SELL!!!!

And then after we sell them they start eating into our profits like.a government tax.

It's capitalism in it's purest form and I don't think this is what Satoshi intended

Hey devs, I've mined BWK at umine and now I checked it with your explorer and was in the right chain, after that in discord I've read that bsod has a split and you decided that BSOD's chain is right. How is that? Now I see that  you coin is a bull shit. Scam.

so this coin is a scam? miners mined and cant get paid?

ill go back to mining my profitable stable coin thanks for the warning

Can somebody tell me what happened?

I deposited yesterday 7 TUN to Stocks.exchange, never appeared in my balance. I just saw today, that TUN deposit is disabled. Is it permanent or what happened?

damn so like this coin is only on shit exchanges and the miners are getting robbed?

why do they keep going to shit exchanges? when I see stock.exchanges or yobit as the only exchanges I think scam.

I mean, trade satoshi is decent, did some trades there never got robbed, im sure people in this field should know where to trade by now...

stocks exchange and yobit are bad
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Akroma - Cryptocurrency. Smarter. (Smart Contracts. Masternodes. Oracles.) on: February 05, 2018, 02:54:28 PM
Sorry, new to mining in general, but AKA seems very interesting...
Can someone explain to me how an address can already have over 137000 AKAs if mining just started few days ago?
Even with dozens of GH/s this seems very awkward...

Coin was "leaked". An alpha build of what you need to start the chain was published on Akromas public GitHub. Someone used that to start mining on the chain.

So that person got all the rewards initially. Looks like that person got all the rewards from the first 3000 blocks = 27000 AKA. Then someone else (or same person/team, just different wallet) joined in the fun.

Then for some weird reason the team figured they should just go with that instead of resetting the chain. And now it's def too late to reset the chain because so many miners have spent a lot of money on it.

My guess is that it was an intentional leak. There were just too many amateur mistakes when the rest of the stuff has been very professional. Also I gave yet to see a good explanation as to why they didn't want to reset the chain.

The standard reply is just: It's too late to reset the chain now...

I just hope they did it to create a tight community and that it's not the team themselves that mined to dump.

So it's just going to be one big dump when the coin hits the exchanges

any exchanges yet??

and why do these guys always look like asic miners http://akroma.minerpool.net/#/account/0x2db67ef4a2b25b10ea481457ad39fc2ad7460993

there are 3 with similar hashrate.

They are NiceHash users... that's not bad because they invest BTC to mine here Smiley

How much do they pay for that much power?
