The 5000s are about to be gone and the 6000 counterparts are starting to go on sale at many retailers. supposedly the 7000s are coming in the fall so the time to buy 6000s will be when the 7000s hit the shelves at retailers. most likely by black friday.

If people are in a mining forum and talking about of big boy stuff, then a bunch of newbs roll in and ask what to buy and if their shopping carts a good choice or not. yea its annoying so they made our newbie forum. let them make some sub categories and people will start helping each other. they are not forcing us, they are merely giving us a nudge.

i have been mining since the 7th of june, started on my laptops cpu, moved to my friends gaming rig he built last month, now i went and got a 6870 for 200 and a 700 watt psu for 50. put it into an old desktop i wasnt using now im getting 300mhash/s. my friends computers getting 211 mhash/s. i set up both the computers on deepbit.net. i wish i had been more active on the forum instead of reading mostly. i was a lurker, now im considered a troll. it kind of sucks but oh well.

you know, a teamspeak or ventrillo server might be a good idea.

deepbits down again, i have been watching my miner most of the day while reading and doing other work on my laptop. it seems to go down and the website goes down also. i am now moving from deepbit.

i wouldnt agree, i got a MSI R6870 Twin frozr and it runs very cool. right now its at 34C with 1000 gpu and memory clocks. 297mhash/s.

lowering the memory will also allow more electricity to get to the gpu, and the fans spin less and take less wattage so more power for the gpu.

the lowest i can take my card is 10mhz on the memory. according to amdoverdrivectrl in linuxcoin.

i have never used linux for anything other then with unetbootin and damnsmalllinux to see if a computer would boot up.

this program took me about an hour to figure out how to use. read the thread on my laptop and tried everything until i eventually figured the fenix miner and pooling.

right now i have my old shitty emachines desktop which i gutted. all that was left was the mobo/ram/motherboard. atleast the motehrboard is an intel and will last for awhile, also the cpu is a core2duo i thinks, and dd2 ram 1gb. i went and bought a 700watt coolmax modular psu  and a msi 6870 for about 250 together. 

the mouse gets a little slow when running the application, but its barely enough to be able to use the comptuer to close the miner window. so thats okay for now i guess.

i am making 292 mhash/sec
old emachines hardware.
+new 6870 and 700watt psu.

I have been dabbling around trying to "mine" some bitcoins. It has been fun but now on to the real thing. Trying to sell something and receiving bitcoins as payment.
