381  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 28, 2024, 10:41:36 PM
Well, as everyone here knows, I'm still a newbie (BTC since 2021)

Anyway, this still unexplored price region (ATH) also depends a lot on human behavior, I don't know about you, but currently when I see the price of bitcoin below 65...66k USD my conscience says that it's a cheap price to buy, that's strange, because a few weeks ago we could say that the price at 66 was already very high....

I believe this should happen to most people who follow the price of BTC... does that make sense? Or does this just ONLY happen to me?

This is very typical and repeats a lot. You are either in the "dang" 60k is expensive or "dang" 60k is cheap. If you want to elevate out of these perspectives you need to think less about the price in the moment and come at it from a price target perspective. e.g is the current price cheaper than my target price. My target price's for this cycle are

Very Conservative: 110k
Conservative: 138k
Bullish: 170k
Ultra Bullish: 250k

If we go up past or close to 110k will start to reprice the high target to next level, so I always have the perspective in this cycle that "dang" XXXk is cheap.

Keep stacking :-)

Target for this year: 170K.
Because of, reasons.
382  Economy / Economics / Re: MicroStrategy Buys $250M in Bitcoin, Calling the Crypto ‘Superior to Cash’ on: March 28, 2024, 10:39:44 PM
So far the most comical thing about this cycle to me is fans of MSTR. They all talk about how great Saylor is and how he’s going to be Bitcoin’s savior. Meanwhile he’s dumping MSTR on them as fast as he can while his company buys more. He’s literally dumping MSTR as fast as he can and buying BTC, meanwhile his fans are dumping BTC to buy MSTR. It has to be rare where people call someone a genius and then do the exact opposite of them or maybe this is just the level of intellect in markets these days.
Good catch here as I didn't look into his buying/selling behavior with respect to MSTR shares. Interesting. But what I don't get now is why would someone sell BTC to then buy a small share in a company that is essentially comprised of BTC investments?

Oh wow, is that actually true?  If so, that's just strange--unless Saylor predicted MSTR was going to be the target of short sellers, which was exactly what happened today (if the news is to believed, of course).

And speaking of the news and in particular that article I linked to, check this out:

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but HODL never was short for "Hold On for Dear Life" but simply a typo in a post made here a long time ago that people picked up and ran with.  Freakin' media.  Also: with respect to OgNasty's assertion that Saylor's fans are buying MSTR, there's no real way of knowing who's buying what so I think that's a leap of logic right there.

Edit:

Whilst browsing through the Yahoo comments, I found this:

So, looks like it's true that Saylor was dumping MSTR (granted, I haven't looked at the referenced filings).  I'm not sure how big of a deal that is, since CEOs and other execs sell shares in their own companies all the time, which they're allowed to do.  This is all interesting, though.

HODL is definitely a mistype born on this very forum (precisely, here).

Regarding the Shorting report, I read it, and it is a very basic math.
Everyone that bought MSTR recently should have done his homework knowing that he was buying Bitcoin at the double of the face value.
The report is here:

383  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: DIY Seed Storage on a soda can on: March 28, 2024, 12:48:22 PM
I would add one more drawback.  Only BitCan offers support for it.  For what duration is this project being developed?  To what extent has it been tested?  All I am worried about is that using the glyphs alone will not be enough to recover the seed phrase in the distant future.  Not like BIP39, which is compatible with nearly all HD wallets.  The process of translating glyphs to bits and back again to words has already caused me anxiety.

There is no need to refer to the site or other,  the glyphs are just a way for writing the BIP39 binaries.. 0 for the first word-> converted to binary numeral system = 0 ,  the last word (2047) converted to binary = 11111111111 .

( Order from right to left )

You can just remember it, it is pretty easy !

The association between gliph lines and correct bit is difficult to remember. These backups needs to be understandable by a casual user, if we won't there to assist them.
To me, the simpler, the better, and the extra risk of this complication is not worth the extra security it can (pun not intended) offer.

Just wondering if we have just witnessed the last round of outflows from GBTC.
Now that presumedly Genesis has finished selling, I can't see why anyone else should do so: New buyers are focusing on IBIT and FBTC, instead of the legacy fund. We might be near the bottom in GBTC.

just witnessed? its the weekend, buys(to dissolve shares  and outflow coin holdings) die down at weekends
..also it was US spring break and about to be other countries easter break.. so expect slowdown. even traders need a holiday

also GBTC buyers(to then request dissolving shares to move coin out to exchanges(outflows) to then move into other etf(inflows)) are not done by end user investor buyers of shares (meaning not done by your grandparents, your parents, your pension)
its actual 100% AP(brokers(agents/sponsors)).. emphasis, not your grandparents..  not end investors

Nice analysis, but I guess all the GBTC recent selling was about Genesys selling shares and using proceeds to buy BTC (sort of neutral market move).
The thing is that buying from IBIT and FBTC also slow down.
Wondering what is driving what. GBTC driving inflows or the other way around?

This morning, we mined the M block on #Bitcoin – a visual demonstration of Marathon’s template building capabilities and vertical tech stack.

Blockchain indexers can visualize bitcoin transactions through square blocks and color gradients based on their transaction size and fee rate.

Because we own our own mining pool, we can craft the order of transactions in a block to create a form of “block art”, creating a custom graphic that can be seen by all through indexer websites such as http://mempool.space.

This new way to utilize #Bitcoin could present a wave of creative potential; however, we are not offering this as a service at this time.

Since we operate a private mining pool and we’ll continue to experiment new ways to innovate with #Bitcoin, we encourage the rest of the Bitcoin network to exclude our blocks from their FPPS calculations for more accurate miner fee estimates, even though our effect on FPPS may be minimal.

388  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 26, 2024, 10:32:57 PM
Our friend @sabotagex from the Portuguese local board shared it with us and that's why I decided to bring it here so you can see how interesting it is. Will the halving block have a surprise like this? I had never seen this

It's the first time I see something like this.
Of course, they gave up the transaction fees in the mempool to play this stunt.
I am afraid that, in case, everyone will try to do the same for the halving block, just to be remembered in the eternity.
389  Economy / Reputation / Re: [FUN] Is DdmrDdmr even human? on: March 26, 2024, 06:38:32 AM
I am lagging even more than the last time.
I am on the lazy side of the event. There have been many times when I rushed to the forum station only to update this report.
Last time, I wasn't involved in the sprees; this time, I was barely scratched, yet I had to find a time slot to analyse this all.
I promise to be more reactive next time.
First things first!

Official @ddmrddmr thread

First, the usual the usual spreadsheet, where you see the two last sprees:

As you can see, the addition of the total merits per in the paired TICK-TOCK sprees has already underlined a new record: this is the smallest merit-circulating spree since launch.
As this last one is by far the smallest on record, either @ddmrddmr has become more efficient at distributing merits the traditional ways, or he's saving merits for later!

Merit Spree #51 by @ddmrddrmr

Official Description:

Version 51 - 25/03/2024  (76 posts merited (by me) in just over 1 minute) -> 154 sMerits
Remerited all my merited posts since my last spree (+ some backlogged pending ones), for non-banned users (up until last friday ).

My review:

TICK: This is an almost perfect reply of merit spree #50. Small-sized double-meriting spree.
Textbook TICK Spree.

Here's the TOP10:

Code:
1.  d5000                 24
2.  Hispo                 16
3.  hilariousetc          10
4.  darbitmobilerecovery  10
5.  Don Pedro Dinero      8
6.  Porfirii              6
7.  mocacinno             4
7.  GreenInk              4
7.  franky1               4
7.  famososMuertos        4
7.  dominguero            4
7.  Amphenomenon          4

Compared to Merit Spree #47, the numbers to enter the TOP10 are higher, which is quite usual. Only 4 merits to enter the chart, topped yet another time by @d5000, with 24 merits, getting just shy of his record of 30 in merits spree #47. Shall I start taking note of who's topping this chart more often?

That's all folks for Merits Spree 51!

Merit Spree #52 by @ddmrddrmr

Official description:

Version 52 - 25/03/2024 96 posts merited (by me) in just under 2 minutes) -> 96 sMerits
Merited all posts that:
- I have not merited before.
- Have received merits from at least five different people since february 2024.
- Are not in Services nor in WO nor in off-topic.
- Are not in thread IDs: 5253221, 5156376, 5445913, 5485091, 5485659, 5485801, 5486754
The goal is to merit post I have either ignored or not come across in boards I do not visit, and that others seem to deem merit worthy, allowing me to unload a bunch of sMerits in the process.

My review:

TOCK This second spree was by far the smallest of the bunch: roughly half the size of merit spree 48 and similar, yet smaller than 50. It was a small-sized single merit spree. As I said, maybe it is difficult to find a post satisfying the criteria, or maybe @ddmrddmr is saving merit for later, so I tend to lean toward this one.

Here's the TOP10:

Code:
1.  paid2           3
1.  nutildah        3
3.  Moreno233       3
4.  DannyHamilton   3
5.  promise444c5    2
5.  PowerGlove      2
5.  Pmalek          2
5.  LoyceV          2
5.  Humblevirus     2
5.  Gencecikmen     2
5.  Etranger        2
5.  cygan           2
5.  BlackHatCoiner  2
5.  apogio          2
5.  $weetne$$       2

Being a single merits spree, numbers are lower: 3 merits to top the chart and 2 to enter the TOP10.
I will start getting merit statistics for a single merits spree! So 11 merits are the highest on record for a single merits spree! (merit spree 44!), and these 3 merits are the lowest required on the record, together with spree #44, #46 and #48: wen two?

Time to call it a day!

I will work hard to be admitted back into the @ddmrddmr merit spree and be more proactive next time!
I must admit that the 50 merit spree is quite an extensive effort by our Spanish entity.

See you at the next merit spree!

No, dai, l'Etiopia no cribbio!

394  Local / Italiano (Italian) / Re: RUNE+BOB: grosse novità per Bitcoin in arrivo on: March 24, 2024, 10:37:09 PM

https://rodarmor.com/blog/runes/
https://sovryn.com/all-things-sovryn/bitcoin-runes-tokens

https://www.gobob.xyz/

I would say this time they were happily served by the market.
No green candle.

I believe what your saying is they’re at a loss right now but In the long run with our expectations for btc isn’t it just a temporal loss but a win for them by just acquiring some amount of btc because the price will eventually go way higher than it is right now.

Actually they are not in a loss, rather their average price is quite lower than this.
They are sitting on huge unrealised profit. Also for this reason they are looking to the accounting principles reform allowing to transfer such gain into their fiscal statement.
399  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 24, 2024, 01:00:45 PM

The guy you are quoting is an idiot. Saylor is selling MSTR options that he got 10 years ago that will otherwise expire. 5000 shares per day in Q1. Saylor has been fully transparent about this in their Q4 financial results. He buys bitcoin privately with the proceeds.

Nice to hear that.
Do you have a source for this information?

I was blaming MS because he was selling shares, instead of Bitcoin he was telling everyone that shares would perform better than Bitcoin. Of course, if these shares are the result of options exercise this changes the framework a little bit, even if he can exercise the option and remain long the stocks without selling those.
