381  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.11.1 on: November 07, 2018, 11:05:31 PM
I am wanting to try and run some old gridseed blades (80 chip).
I am totally confused on what ver of cgminer to use

CGMiner doesn't support gridseeds, or any other altcoin miner.  Read the Top Post for more information.

Hi

Where download binaries CGMiner 4.11.1 for windows ?

A page back says this

There is no legit link for any windows binary any more. The only legit ones were on my website, and antivirus scans falsely tagged them as malware and there was no way to appeal the tag so I've given up on windows binaries entirely and removed them all from my site. Anyone mining today should be mining with linux and most hardware is using a controller device that already runs linux.
383  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Questions about mining on: November 04, 2018, 11:49:47 PM
This guy is the supposed founder of cryptonary on Instagram

So what!

If one wants to know about Bitcoin then they should be going to these forums or Bitcoin.org.

Why would one go to instagram, whatever that is, to find out about Bitcoin?

You should exercise some common sense.  If you don't have much money you probably shouldn't be sending it to people you don't know.

Be careful.
384  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Questions about mining on: November 04, 2018, 08:08:00 PM
This is some of what he has said

You ain't sending the bitcoin to me, you are sending it directly to the antminer and immediately after it processes your bitcoin to 0.055 bitcoin which is $351 it sends it automatically to your wallet”

That's not the way Bitcoin miners work.  They are not vending machines.

So are you sending Bitcoin to an address?  Or are they asking for your private keys or wallet?
385  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Questions about mining on: November 04, 2018, 07:49:16 PM
If I shared my wallet address and I guess connected to his antminer he would turn my $100 into more and would be automatically sent back.

Your not being very clear.  He wants a wallet address or your private keys?  Are you paying him $100? and then he mines and pays you back?  Or does he start mining using your wallet address as a payout address?

I would probably stay away from anything like this but I'm not sure what exactly you were offered.

If you have $100 in Bitcoin I would just keep it until the price increases and buy however much you could afford each month to add to your portfolio.

it used to be in the not so distant past that unique MAC addresses were hard coded into each network device.  I used to think of a MAC address as the burned-in address.

MAC addresses are, usually, "burned" in via the firmware of the device.  That can usually be changed by flashing new firmware into the device.  It's a bit too trivial an operation than I would have liked.  I guess that's a consequence of OEM manufactures.  Companies need to be able to burn in their company specific MAC when they integrate someone else's hardware.

Discord is blocking my IP address and has banned my use of the site. How do i fix this issue?

Get a new IP or a VPN. Best bet, is figure out why you've been banned! Did you do something to get banned (be honest with yourself here)? If you did not, you should look deeper at who is sharing your IP address and doing nefarious things with it.

I logged in yesterday for the first time with no interaction on the site. Who is the administrator that would block my IP address?
Discord themselves - doesn't matter what channel/server you are using, if your IP is blocked, it's Discord who did it.
Ok I am using an ASUS router with a VPN. I am not familiar with how the router generates an IP address, can I change it?

The idea is that you establish a VPN connection to a different network.  Then when you go someplace on the internet the traffic will be coming from the other network and not yours.

Post in the altcoin section and find out.

why there is no timer for current block time and the average time to be finished over total pool workers

I give up. Why?

391  Other / Meta / Re: Mods Need to Have Some Courtesy in this Thread on: September 10, 2018, 02:24:38 AM
I posted a new thread asking a question about mining software and it was deleted without explanation.
At least have the courtesy to PM the author and explain why you are deleting relevant threads with relevant questions and or comments?

If you were posting about Altcoin's and/or GPU mining then this is the wrong area as this is the Bitcoin section.

There are so many people that refuse to read or adhere to the simple forum rules, it does get annoying.
392  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BTC hashrate changes on: September 03, 2018, 03:07:46 PM
15PH hashrate equals 1M S9's (~600M USD), and i couldn't believe how can someone turn on 1M ASICS in 1 day.

15 PHs is 15,000 THs.  15,000THs/14THs = 1071

Are you calling "M" One Thousand?
393  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BTC hashrate changes on: September 03, 2018, 02:04:01 AM
nope, BCH total hasrate is 4-5 phs, but "jump" is about 10-15 phs

10 to 15 PHs is not even a drop in the bucket compared to the network hash rate.

Also keep in mind nobody really knows what the network hash rate really is.  It's just an estimate based on the block find rate.  A run of good or bad luck can skew the hash rate estimate significantly.

I guess nothing is moving forward on the bigger block solution for the time being. Until the next Great Congestion in the bull run up.

That transaction "Congestion" was completely manufactured to create urgency and panic.  Supply and demand works great, just let it.

Does block song,

Someone please give this man some merit. I just laughed for 5 minutes reading this

I gave you some merit.  So I guess you can pass it on?

Thanks, I passed it on!

Sweet, I'm glad that worked.  Still figuring this merit thing out.

397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice for somebody thinking of starting to mine? on: June 10, 2018, 06:26:39 PM
What would your advice be for somebody to start a rig for alts coins etc? Or buy a share in a BTC mining operation?

For advice on mining altcoins post in the altcoin section.  I've never heard of anybody selling a "share" of their Bitcoin mining operation,  I would be very cautious of something that sounded like that.

yes was forced to move due to no bch support here Sad but still miss the community Cheesy

Took me a moment to realize what you were talking about.

This Pool is a Bitcoin Pool.  Why would it support an attack on Bitcoin?  How could anyone trust any "Bitcoin" pool that supported such a hostile fork against Bitcoin?

Any one Can Explain me or give me some a little knowledge about Mining. I would like to ask some question What is the best mining Option Software using My GPU or I will buy some miner Like Ant miner?

You can't mine Bitcoin with a GPU.  If you want to talk about GPU post in the altcoin section.

Forum rules are pinned to the top of each section, you need to read them before posting.

You purchase Antminers from the manufacture, which is Bitmain.
