382  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is April 15th really doomsday or is nothing going to happen? on: April 10, 2014, 07:38:53 PM
Whats with the April 15?

April 15th is when US tax filing is due, so everyone is deciding what to do, pay taxes, and how to pay taxes, at least thats what I have interpreted.

Why are we even trying to unravel what a question truly is?

Why not?

If you knew the answer to everything, would you ask why?

Possibly?

When EC is broken and I have the ability to steal any bitcoin I want for free, does that count as trading at $0?

What is EC?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EuroCity

When that train is broken, Bitcoin will go to zero.

is this supposed to be metaphorical? How does a train relate to btc?

Was that a quetion?

That was not a question but was it not supposed to be?

A statement? Perhaps a directive?

392  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Can anyone show me calculation how cloud mining can be profitable? on: April 10, 2014, 07:23:03 PM
Ok, have been following these cloud mining threads advertising different cloud mining services. Could anyone pls show me some kind of calculation how this can be profitable and how can I get my ROI back?
Whenever I use available calculators I end up paying 7 BTC for 1 TB which gets me back 6 BTC in a year assuming 40% difficulty increase per month, which is an overage over the last few months. I am prepared only to pay for the service in BTC, any kind of fiat payments are not acceptable ATM.

So, what am I missing here, why is math faulty?

Your calculation is right.
Why would they sell the hashrate if they can get more by mining themselves?  Wink

Maybe they could sell it for a higher profit?

396  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whodafuq is dumping BTC?? on: April 10, 2014, 07:06:40 PM
Guys, I am new to the bitcoin scene. Is it a good time to buy now or is it going to still go down?

Buy reasonable amounts, say 3-5% every paycheck while it falls. Don't try to time the bottom. If here within the span of the next year you are buying *above* your cost basis, hold till it reaches double your cost basis then sell at 3-5% of your weekly paycheck's worth. Inevitably it'll fall in value again and then you can start accumulating again with a new cost-basis.

Good tactic, but personally I think "bottom" is around $300, if it still seems to be going down after that, then $250. After $250 though, just keep buying, as prices will never go down that low again xD

399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FACTS about Multipools and why you shouldn't mine on them on: April 10, 2014, 07:03:59 PM
Personally the miner in the end of the day has to pay the bills and will do it no matter what JMO. Merged mining should be the way to go, but sadly only few are merge mineable.
400  Economy / Speculation / Re: Since we started at zero, do you think its possible to go back to zero? on: April 10, 2014, 06:51:23 PM
You could always set your own "bottom". Just be like "okay, if it makes $xxx, then I will buy"
