Oman started well and was ahead in the series after winning the first game. But Papua New Guinea played well in the second match and tied the series. Oman struggled to score 145 runs in their 20 overs while Papua New Guinea easily chased the target and won by 8 wickets. Sese Bau batted well and Nao bowled effectively for Papua New Guinea. The series is now tied at 1-1. So today's match will give the accurate results that which team will win the series.

Nice to see Papua New Guinea winning against one of the top associate nations. They are a 100% native squad, while Oman is a 100% foreigner team. Despite the name, entire squad is comprised of Indian or Pakistani nationals. So obviously a win by PNG over Oman is good news for the associate cricket and growth of the game. Then again, it is a 3-match T20I series, and PNG need to win the 3rd match which will be played today at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground. And that will help them to improve the T20I team rankings.

Islamabad united very close to this victory against Karachi kings. They Need 45 runs from just 41 balls and easily win this match. Islamabad United current score is 107 runs in a loss of 3 wickets. Islamabad United bowling performance is outstanding especially Tymal Mills who picked 3 important wickets and Faheem Ashraf also picked 2 crucial wickets for his team and restricted Karachi Kings to 150 runs. Islamabad United will win this match and stay in the Super Four of the PSL point table.

They may win, but at the same time they have lost a few wickets. Shadab Khan was the last to go, as he was nabbed by Mir Hamza. Anyway, they just need 17 more runs, and they have 5 wickets in hand. Faheem Ashraf and Haider Ali are at the crease and they need to make sure that no further wickets are being lost. And the good news for Islamabad United is that both Mir Hamza and Blessing Muzarabani have completed their full quota of 4 overs. Now the Karachi Kings captain need to resort to Zahid Mahmood and Mohammad Nawaz.
383  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: March 06, 2024, 01:02:52 PM
Got some two topic related things to discuss.

1. Starting from 2025, some Europe countries are planning to make EURO 5 and EURO 6 diesel cars exhaust system annual technical inspection more strict. Which means, cars with cut away particulate filter are going to have troubles passing annual inspection. Why this DPF filter is needed? To make diesel exhaust more ecology friendly. Why people cut them away? Because replacement of this filter cost 1-3k EUR (filter is costly, replacement procedure cost is low as it is rather simple).

2. Mercedes-Benz reducing EV production, as sales and demand is low. Maybe this is due to brand is expensive and people prefer cheap EV. Maybe this is due to low demand on EV in general. Give me your thought please.

I am not really surprised with the second point. Those who purchase luxury and sports cars still prefer gasoline or diesel run vehicles. I would say that EVs comprise for less than 1% of the market share in the luxury segment. And millionaires usually doesn't care about their own carbon footprint, although they are very vocal and supportive in fleecing the middle-class in the form of additional green taxes. So it is a good decision by Mercedes-Benz to move away from EV production. They should rather stick with the tried and tested tactics.

Bro tried his best with no balls and extra but sadly fell sort lol.

LOL.. Indiscipline has been one of his issues ever since he started his IPL career. He concedes a lot of wides and noballs, which in turn disproportionately affects his team. He is a wicket taking bowler, and there is no doubt about that. But then, he always try to bowl as fast as he can and this sometimes doesn't work against experienced batsmen. He maybe more effective in test matches, but then he has played just two first-class matches so far. And that too for the Colombo club side Nondescripts CC.
385  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Women's Cricket Prediction & Discussion - T20 & ODI on: March 06, 2024, 12:42:54 PM
Royal Challengers Bangalore Women will be aiming for yet another win today, as they are against the bottom ranked Gujarat Giants Women. For the Giants, there have been brilliant individual performances, especially from Ashleigh Gardner, Harleen Deol and Tanuja Kanwar. But they have failed to perform as a team. On the other hand, everyone have been in top form for the RCB. And their rookie bowler Asha Sobhana has been in the news after taking 12 wickets from just 9 matches. Ellyse Perry and Smriti Mandhana are also in top form.

I don't really think there's any other contender than Biden and Trump to become president.

Trump just got good news with a ruling overturning the ban on him being in the ballot.

I'm sure this whole thing will end up with Trump even more popular than before.

Trump is already leading Biden by a huge margin in most of the opinion polls. So I don't really think that he needed any sympathy wave. But it did helped him. And for any other candidates like Haley and Michelle, I think the chances are too low. And the legal issues that Trump faced was most likely diversion tactics employed by the Democrats, to shift attention away from the border issue. The situation at Southern border is hurting Democrats really bad and I am quite surprised that they are still remaining deaf to that issue.

Very true. He still has a lot of potential, but he definitely is no Malinga.

His form has gone down by quite a bit. He performed really well in one IPL season and helped Chennai Super Kings to the knockout phase. But after that his career has gone downhill. A lot of people were talking about Pathirana being the next Malinga, but he couldn't keep up with those claims. This is where SLC should step in and find a mentor for this young pace bowler. His raw talent should be nurtured in a proper way. Sri Lanka has a lot of promising players. But the issue right now is that all of them are inconsistent.

Afghanistan has not been the same team after thier defeat against Australia in the world cup. They haven't been able to recreate the same level of performance that they had in the ICC tournament. I don't think after getting defeated from a weaker team like Ireland they will win today. Ireland doesn't have anything to lose if the don't win today. Whereas Afghanistan morale will go further down if they don't win.

It is a 3-match ODI series and at least on paper Afghanistan is the stronger side. They are in poor form recently, but then Ireland is in far worse state. And then Afghanistan have the home advantage (the matches are being held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium though, since Ireland would not travel to Afghanistan). The advantage with Ireland is that their morale would be high after the test win, and also all of their star players are available, including - Paul Stirling, Andy Balbirnie, Curtis Campher, Harry Tector and Lorcan Tucker.

The final match of Ranji Trophy will be played between Vidarbha and Mumbai. Vidarbha managed to defeat Madhya Pradesh in the semi-finals, despite trailing in first innings by almost 100 runs. Karun Nair, Dhruv Shorey, Aman Mokhade, Yash Rathod and Akshay Wadkar all made excellent contributions for Vidarbha. And while bowling Yash Thakur and Akshay Wakhare destroyed the MP lineup. In the second match, a star-studded Mumbai (which included Prithvi Shaw, Musheer Khan, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur) defeated a star-studded Tamil Nadu (which had players such as Sai Sudharsan, Narayan Jagadeesan, Vijay Shankar, Washington Sundar and Sandeep Warrier).

The first match was competitive, the scorecard suggests that (28 runs winning margin).

But 2nd and 3rd matches were competitive in patches only and the winning margins were 106 and freaking 435 runs (their biggest defeat in 100 years). It was a similar story for the 4th test match, Poms had their moment but failed to strengthen their positions when the Indians were down.

Overall competitive series and at times they raised the bar by putting tremendous pressure but now we have enough data that BAZBALL can't sustain for long against top teams like Australia and India, especially in the 5-test match series. IMO BGT 2017 was better.

I agree with the assessment. First match was tightly fought and won by England. India won the second and third by big margins and I felt that the matches were lop-sided. Fourth match was tight and England could have won. But then some stupid captaincy tactics and blistering batting from Dhruv Jurel made things really bad for England. Now the 5th match is just a formality. A win can help England in the WTC points table. But by now it is proven that only Australia can be competitive in Indian pitches. No other team can challenge India at home.

Today we have the second match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The first match was won by Sri Lanka by just 3 runs, as they overcame a strong challenge from the relatively unknown Jaker Ali. Dasun Shanaka managed to complete the last over without much damage. But today, both the teams will be charged up. Bangladesh made a 200+ score chasing last time and that might have boosted their morale. Also, Lankans will be worried with the performance from Matheesha Pathirana. During the last match, he went for 4-0-56-1.

Karachi Kings might win today's match, as they bundled out Quetta Gladiators for just 118 runs. Tim Seifert and Shan Masood have started well for Karachi, and they may improve their NRR as well in addition to winning the match today. BTW, it was a horrible performance from the Gladiators. Hasan Ali was simply unplayable, as he returned figures of 4-0-15-4. He got the important wickets of Saud Shakeel, Khawaja Nafay and two other lower order batsmen. Blessing Muzarabani and Zahid Mahmood also offered good support.

I am sure that the Pakistani selectors have noted down the performance from Hasan Ali. T20 World Cup is not far away.

There has been some drama between the owners of the Lahore Qalandars franchise (especially Sameen Rana) and the PCB. Rana is not happy with the fact that the PCB decided to cancel Haris Rauf's contract just two days before the start of the PSL. And he claimed that this was one of the reasons which negatively impacted the performance of Lahore this time. Qalandars are at the bottom of the points table, with no wins from 7 matches. They got one point from the match against Peshawar Zalmi, which was abandoned without a ball bowled.

Canada Vs United Arab Emirates

ICC CWC League 2, Canada vs UAE ODI match is live at Dubai International Stadium today. UAE team won the toss and they decided to bowl first. Meanwhile Canada Almost done their batting but only 2 bowls left from 50 overs and delay occured due to rainy weather. Well Canada have made estimate 241 runs already which is good runs to win the match if they could bowl well. Their top order batsman made some low runs and 4 wickets gone at 88 runs. After that, Harsh Thaker opt to bat and have made his legendary century, 111 runs from 113 and not out. Many players gone but Harsh Thaker is still on the field. Now waiting for UAE to start batting which is still depends on weather

Well.. this is turning out to be a very exciting match. United Arab Emirates needs another 55 runs to win against Canada, and the required run rate is well under 9 per over. And more importantly, they have 6 wickets in hand, with Rahul Chopra and Basil Hameed at the crease. At this point, I would say that the advantage is with the UAE. Canada surprised everyone by winning the first two matches in this series, but I am afraid that they are going to taste defeat today. Dillon Heyliger has 3 overs remaining. Let's see what he can do.

^^ Not a series decider so yeah but as far as WTC is concerned it's not a dead rubber per se because 12 points are on the table. From England's perspective, points won't matter much because they are already lagging but they would prefer 2-3 scoreline, instead of 1-4.

India needs the remaining 12 points because they have a tough tour of Australia.

Australian tour would be interesting for sure. At this point, Australia are struggling at the 3rd place and there is a large gap between them and India. But then, Australia has one match remaining against New Zealand. And the 5-match series against India is towards the end of the year. Before that they don't have any other test series. This is a bit surprising, given the fact that Australians usually play more test matches compared to the other teams (the only exception maybe England, and perhaps India).

Anyone following the Ranji Trophy? Both the semi-finals are going on at this moment. In the first semi-final, Vidarbha seems to be having the upper hand over Madhya Pradesh, as they are leading by 295 runs with 3 wickets remaining. It was a stellar comeback from Vidarbha, after conceding a first innings lead of close to 100 runs to MP. Karun Nair was the only one who managed to get a good score in the first innings. However, in the second innings Yash Rathod, Akshay Wadkar and Dhruv Shorey also made good contributions.

In this match Islamabad United won by 29 runs against Peshawar Zalmi. Peshawar Zalmi only manage to score 167 runs in a loss of 9 wickets and lost the match. The Player of the Match is Shadab Khan from Islamabad umi for his all-around batting and bowling performance first they picked 3 important wickets by giving 41 runs. Shadab Khan batting performance is brilliant scored an 80 runs inning in just 51, but he didn't complete a well-deserved century by 20 runs short.

Peshawar Zalmi lost the match, but they made a good recovery after getting reduced to 18/5. Naseem Shah had an unbelievable opening spell of 2-1-1-1(picked the wicket of Saim Ayub). Babar Azam, as usual ran himself out and then Hunain Shah got two wickets in his first over. Fortunately for Zalmi, Paul Walter and Aamer Jamal managed to put some runs and got them to 125/5 before Walter got out. Jamal kept on fighting, before he was nabbed by Shadab Khan. Once Jamal was out, it was all over for the Zalmi.

Two interesting test matches incoming. We have India vs England final test where India will try to acquire more points in the WTC table while England will simply try to save face and make it 3-2.

We also have Australia vs New Zealand where Aus will try to win and acquire more valuable WTC points while the Kiwis will try to draw the series. Excited!

Last match has lost its relevance. I am only interested in it because I want to see James Anderson getting to 700 test wickets. Being a pacer, getting there is extremely hard. At this point, he has 698 scalps to his name. In the second place we have Stuart Broad with 604 wickets, but he announced his retirement after the 2023 Ashes series. Glenn McGrath is at the third place, with 563 wickets. I am sure that in the next 10-15 years no one is going to break Anderson's record. It may remain there forever.

Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry won the match for Royal Challengers Bangalore Women yesterday. Now they are at the 3rd place in the points table with 6 points. And their bowlers continue to impress, especially Asha Sobhana and Sophie Molineux. Hopefully the performance of the women's team will have some impact on their men's side, who have never won an IPL title till now. Anyway today we have the clash between Delhi Capitals Women and Mumbai Indians Women at the Women's Premier League. Both the teams are at the top of the points table.

Scotland won the match of ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 because they easily reached the goal of scoring 137 runs. Bradley Currie bowled very well and collect 3 wickets and helped limit United Arab Emirates to only 132 runs. And after him Scott Currie was also good in bowling who collected 2 wickets. Scotland's teamwork and good play on the field helped them win. United Arab Emirates needs to improve their batting lineup and give more help to their top scorers to do better in future matches.

Currie brothers have been impressive in the recent matches. But still I would have preferred Chris Sole in the team. He is someone who is capable of bowling above 90 mph consistently. He was one of the reasons why Scotland came so close to qualifying for the ODI world cup (before Bas de Leede smashed them all over the park to qualify at their expense). Anyway, all the Scottish bowlers were impressive. Apart from Currie brothers, Safyaan Sharif, Mark Watt and Chris Greaves also played their part.
