381  Other / Beginners & Help / Could the goverment behind failed binance card partnership with Mastercard? on: August 26, 2023, 02:50:54 PM
Who are already using this cards here? card users of binance brand card will only be use until September of this year, I think the government and SEC are behind this also big and powerful people because if this happens they will be impact with this, both visa and mastercard are said to have stepback away from binance, meaning for them to do that where they have more profits there are really high power people that is preventing this to happen
What are your thoughts about this and could this have a major effect?
Here are the links of the news hopes this helps those who already have try the card.

382  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A must read if you are running Crypto wallet on PC on: August 25, 2023, 02:40:13 AM
If you have Crypto above $10k, you should just buy a separate device with Linux on it to just operate your Wallet. Keep it disconnected from the Internet and just connect once you want to do a transaction or something. This way you can save a lot of money and prevent most of these attacks. You cannot be up to date with every new attack going on in the Cryptospace, so keeping your system generally safe should be the priority.
This is the best option for me since most of hackers wont waste time attacking linux OS, although this can be done but it will take time, since they have to brute force in where there is a report who is trying to access in putty once you have log-in, but lots of users are in windows,  achieving files using 7zip, this works also on linux and windows, OP suggestion using this is a great option i have been using this for like several years now and i have never encounter a problem both in windows and linux, also if you are really don't want to be expose, avoid forwarding your IP address, and expose ports outside, I suggest using different ports and a fail2ban, I'm sure this have also a counterpart in windows, also avoid free softwares downloadable from torent etc.
383  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful with your identity documents and KYC on: August 24, 2023, 03:32:46 AM
I was reading this, that bitcoin and other crypto were banned in India in 2018. The ban was lifted, but later 30% crypto tax was imposed on crypto users and this led to Indians preferring to exchange crypto and rupee within themselves which can be on decentralized exchanges or centralized exchanges.

How the P2P scams happen

One way P2P scammers steal user data is with the help of fake crypto-centered channels on Telegram that promise high profits or airdrops. Many gullible users looking to make a quick profit often join these channels and share their personal banking information. In many other cases, the scammer simply buys or steals the user’s personal information.

The stolen data is then used to create a P2P account on any popular P2P platform — Binance and WazriX are common in India.

The scammer then initiates a buy order on the P2P platform looking for unsuspecting sellers. Once they match with a seller, they send the money to the seller using the victim’s account. Thus, they complete the P2P transaction on the platfrom where the buyer receives the cryptocurrency and the seller receives the money in their bank account.

The buyer (scammer) then vanishes with the crypto and the victim whose bank account was used to send the money only realizes it after the money has been deducted from their bank account.

The scammers will have the information to bank details and other necessary personal documents of the victim through fake airdrops and others means to lure the victims to provide their personal data. They will use the victims documents and necessary bank details to register on a centralized exchange. Create a centralized exchange P2P buy order, using the victims money that he has in bank to pay and receive crypto in return. And the scammer will transfer the coins out of the exchange.

You can read about this in complete from https://cointelegraph.com/news/crypto-p2p-scams-india

Avoid giving out your personal documents and personal data because it can be used to steal all your money.
OP post should be taken seriously by airdrop hunter, like the new comers they thought putting information on the airdrop give them more chance, to win lots of money they are all.wrong instead their information sometimes passwords were collected and can be sold in the darkweb, sometimes also can be use by scammers in an airdrop, and pretend that the information is them.
384  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think privacy is important for a beginner? on: August 23, 2023, 01:29:34 PM
I Think being private is very important, here is why:
If you are into crypto you should not post winnings this will lure bad people especially in your area and during this situation were we are just in the middle of the recovery from pandemic.
Posting negative experience people will not look good at you since you are posting negative things and they will not follow and will dislike you.
Being private is good although we can't hide everything but we should live simple boasting and showing up what you have, is okay but people this days envied people who reach an achievement so , if you have earn a lot in crypto better keep silent, share it with those people who are close to you.
385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Potential Impact of Binance Collapse on Bitcoin ($BTC) Price on: August 23, 2023, 06:46:45 AM
There is an impact to BTC price if binance falls down, since its one of the top exchange in the market, and also there are lots of traders who uses bitcoin, having million transactions daily and binance close that is a big blow, but at the moment that is a bit hard to happen, Zhao had already prepare for this a long time ago that is why he is in Dubai, the us government putting pressure on him, made this move, because he knows what will happen.
386  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Nakapagtry naba kayo dito sa Sats cafe on: August 23, 2023, 12:57:09 AM
Tapang ng may ari na bitcoin-only yung payment, since ang daming risk sa one payment only na store lalo na dahil di pa masyadong madaming gumamit ng bitcoin as payment regularly sa mga physical stores dito satin. Pero this is a good start to prove it, kaya kudos if magiging successful ito at sustainable as a business.
Oo master malakas ang loob nya, pero mukhang nagsurvey na sya bago nya ito sinimulan, at the same time madami sumuporta sa kaniya , so if ito tumagal ng 2-4 years solid na yan, possible after 2 years if boom masundan na ito, ang problem nalang nito would be tax, at the same time, wag naman sana wag maging mainit ang mata ng govt sa mga nabili kasi isipin nila is malaki pera hawak ng person na ito, ito lang mahirap sa pinas, once na makita ka na may ganeto baka isip nila nkakabili ka with sats or bitcoin malaki holdings mo halwatin ka, medyo napaisip din ako jan , pero wag naman sana.
387  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Mga POGO posible kayang magamit sa money laundering ? on: August 22, 2023, 02:49:19 PM

https://news.abs-cbn.com/video/news/08/18/23/mga-ebidensiya-sa-pogo-hub-titingnan-kung-gamit-sa-money-laundering
388  Local / Pilipinas / Re: May Mga Influencer Ba Tayo Na Tutok Sa Cryptocurrency? on: August 22, 2023, 05:01:57 AM
Madami namang influencer dito satin sa pinas, pero kalimitan naman diko nilalahat ay tinatake advantage nila for example nagsstream sila or ngppost hindi para sa community kundi pra sa kanila, like mga refferals, views , makikita mo naman sa influencer if talagang tutok sila, pero karamihan din mga opurtunista, pero meron naman nung talagang ngsspread tlga sila ng information sa community, at talagang pagmay update eh sinasabi nila, hindi naman masama minsan ang kumita pero ung iba obvious, tapos pagmedyo tagilid na eh hugas kamay or nawawala nalang sa scene, no hate naman pero sana eh help the community grow sa iba, and not to take advantage ba.
I suggest follow influencer na hinihimay ung topic wag iyong may makikita kang binibgay na refferals or something, yan ang take ko,
389  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcoin wallet is in danger of loosing funds on: August 22, 2023, 02:25:17 AM

hope this helps everyone.
What are your thoughts about this new vulnerabilities?
390  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some Security Tips on: August 22, 2023, 12:58:02 AM
My suggestion is not to join newly created exchange, stick to those who have make it to the hacks and return the money, to the investors, using unknown exchange who have just been a few months or years is not a good idea, go with the pioneer exchanges, you have to distance your tokens or coins to website with less security features and allow no other alternative securities.
391  Economy / Economics / Re: How to avoid over expenses and have discipline on: August 21, 2023, 02:36:34 PM
The most important is to have discipline OP, list are really what everyone needs to do spot-on but, without discipline even if you list all the things that you need, but you can't control your emotions or habit, it will happen over and over, the best example is the person I know, he got 2 jobs all paying good but his expenses are over the limit combine with his two jobs, every time he is short he always say he will save and don't spend the money on things he don't need, but when salary comes same scenario, so without discipline every planning and promise is useless, thanks OP for your topic.
392  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Important to know: Difference Coin / Token and shady marketing practices on: August 21, 2023, 06:31:04 AM
Bitcoin is having a big advantage over Shitcoins: you know it’s a quality coin. Bitcoin doesn’t need excessive marketing (Bitcoin doesn’t even has a pre-mined stash to fund marketing from because Bitcoin doesn’t need it), Bitcoin is a quality coin itself.
Bitcoin doesn’t require research if it’s a coin or a token.
So, it’s very important to understand the difference between a coin and a token.  Smiley

Due to new projects being launched on existing platforms, people started confusing terms how to call a cryptocurrency properly. In this topic we are going to debunk marketing buzzwords, which are used frequently to boost shit cryptocurrencies in a fraudulent way.

So far, various new projects keep "enriching" us from the Shitcoin industry but a very big problem arose around it, that different terms like "Coin" or "Token" caused confusion for everyone. For this purpose, it is very important to have a look at what a "Coin" and a "Token" really is and why it is important to research if a cryptocurrency is a coin or a token.

Coin

A coin is an original cryptocurrency based on an independent blockchain, whose blockchain is operated independently from other blockchains.
It does not matter whether this blockchain has been launched right away, copied or forked.
A coin serves as a medium for transaction fees on that original blockchain.
Examples of coins are: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Cardano, Avalanche, Waves, Tezos and Dogecoin, etc.

Token

A token is based on a blockchain that already existed before the token was created. This token needs to follow all characteristics of this blockchain on which it is based on, you need some coins of the original platform to send tokens and all transactions of this token are also recorded in this existing blockchain.
The best-known platform for tokens is Ethereum [ETH]. Ethereum tokens can be created on it, whose transactions are recorded on the Ethereum blockchain. Fees are paid in Ethereum Coins.
Other examples of tokens include Waves tokens, which are based on Waves [WAVES]. Fees are paid in Waves Coins.
Binance tokens, which are based on Binance [BNB]. Fees are paid in Binance Coins.
So, if you want to move a token, you always need some original platform coins.

All other coins except Bitcoin are therefore called "Altcoins." This dates back at a time when new projects always had their own blockchain. The term "Altcoin" was therefore justified. Now, especially from the introduction of Ethereum, many projects have emerged, that will either stay for their entire existence on the Ethereum blockchain or later eventually switch to their own blockchain. Until then, they are on the Ethereum blockchain.
So, for the sake of accuracy, these products are called "Alttokens" instead of "Altcoins" as long as they are still a token. The popular term for such products would then be "Shittoken" instead of "Shitcoin" accordingly.

False marketing is deceiving buyers

While the term "Coin" evokes more valuable properties, "Token" sounds rather of low quality. As a result, many projects are advertising their product as a "Coin" while in reality, it is (still) a "Token". One should not be deceived by this because projects are frequently doing this to shill their useless crap project.

Projects doing this, should be avoided as it’s a big red flag.  Lips sealed

In addition, there’s a new strategy from competing projects to trash competing projects. In a misguided effort, the competing coin is labelled as a token, but in reality, it’s a coin because it’s based on its own Blockchain. But competing projects are labelling it as a token to trash it and provide an effort to scare and discourage potential buyers from buying the competing coin.
It might even happen for competing projects to hire "agents" and place such agents in marketing departments of competitors, where in marketing material, these agents are wrongfully changing the term "Coin" into "Token" to make the competitor coin look bad by calling it "Token".  Cheesy

ICO, ITO, Shitcoin and Shittoken

The often-used term "token sale" is derived from a time, when many ICOs were using Ethereum and are as a result, assets have been tokens during its sale. For a better accuracy, it should be called ITO (Initial Token Offering) instead of ICO (Initial Coin Offering), since tokens are offered at this point in the majority of all cases. These only become coins eventually later.

While it can be argued, that an ICO, where tokens are offered will also mean, that these tokens will definitely become coins later and their state as a token is just temporarily and the sale just serves as an event to have the earliest recording of the cryptocurrency, it can’t be argued that a token is a coin, when there’s no unique Blockchain, where it’s based on.

So, it’s important to get our facts right and look into a cryptocurrency if it’s a coin or a token and if it’s shit (which it is for most cases), call it Shitcoin or Shittoken, respectively.
We need to address all technical details properly.

Just want to add to OP's informative post, tokens this days glorified their projects like for example, how fast the transactions , also having other features that looks like better to other projects, this what catch other investors attention this days, not knowing that its just a propaganda or a features that is just add-in but after the launch and gather the profit from investors, the said features is just garbage and useless, this what shitcoin this days does, presenting a feature that is sometimes buggy and are really no use, thanks again OP for your topic.
393  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Otoridad/Police nagbabala tungkol sa play to earn scheme on: August 20, 2023, 12:57:40 AM
Well, it is still good na may warning na para sa mga too good to be true na mga games or kahit anong offer, sana mas maging active pa ang ating government patungkol dito.
394  Local / Pilipinas / Nakapagtry naba kayo dito sa Sats cafe on: August 20, 2023, 12:52:39 AM

395  Local / Pilipinas / Otoridad/Police nagbabala tungkol sa play to earn scheme on: August 19, 2023, 02:54:57 AM

396  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you ever been scammed ? on: August 19, 2023, 02:30:53 AM
Of course, there are many forms of scams, and scammed people have different profiles. At first I thought people who were scammed were too naive or too greedy, but in reality scams are diverse. Perhaps we could list the different forms of scam and, if need be, tell our own story to help others protect themselves. Don't forget to report scammers in the dedicated topic (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0). Don't hesitate to tell me or correct me if I've made a mistake in my list.

1. There are the naive scammed, who haven't read enough about how to protect themselves and will simply give their private keys to a stranger who claims to help them.

2. There are the CEX scammed. MtGox, FTX etc ..., they can be beginners or experts.

3. Greedy scammed. Those who were promised crazy returns without doing anything. (Bitconnect for example or Madoff in TradFi))

4. Romantic scammed. A "nice" meeting on the Internet, some nice promises, and the romantic scammed are relieved of their funds.

5. The tired scammed, drunk, drugged or simply distracted by the kids doing bullshit next to him/her. A bit out of his depth, he won't realize that he's on a phising site for example.

6. The betrayed scammed. Whether a beginner or an expert, the betrayed scammed has trusted someone (friend, colleague, lover...) and lost his or her funds.

7. The shitcoin scammed. He/she bought lots of shitcoins on an obscure Pump and Dump group.

8. the sim-swap scammed (https://www.businessinsider.com/credit-card-phone-theft-sim-swap-identity-theft-investigation-2023-4?r=US&IR=T). Beginner or expert, the victim is deprived of all access from one minute to the next. The ease of the hack seems to depend on the country.

9. The clipboard virus scammed. In that case LoyceV explained that (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5190776.0) :

Quote
How it works
1. You select a Bitcoin address, and press CTRL-C.
2. The malware changes the address to an address owned by the hacker/scammer.
3. You press CTRL-V and lose any funds you send.
Even if you check part of the pasted Bitcoin address, chances are the first few characters are the same, and you still won't notice the address was changed.

10. The social media scammed. A friend has his twitter account hacked and asks all the victim's contacts for money. Or a VIP has his account hacked and promises a giveaway (it's like you send me an ETH and I'll send you 2 back, it sounds crazy but some people believe it).

11. The scam application scammed. (it's getting a little weird my inventions of words  Grin). Victims, attracted by the fear of having to pay a fine or attracted by a supposed gift, will scan a QR-code or click on a fraudulent link (classic phishing). Then, if the victim downloads a fraudulent application and validates the authorizations, then the scammer will take control of the smartphone and possession of the wallets and bank accounts. => https://upgradedtamilan.com/an-ordinary-cup-of-tea-cost-a-woman-from-singapore-1-5-million-rubles/

Am I forgetting any?

Has this happened to you or someone you know ?

Romantic scam my friend, encounter this where the scammer is sweet, showing money, and portfolio, he also send small amount of money to lure my friend even  creating an account saying to put amount of money, he scan scam like 700 usd, already told him its too good to be true , also ask me to put money, because its profitable, but from the start I told him its a scam he never listen, too bad he had to learn it the hard way, instead of listening to me, I have save lots of his friends, because they are ready to pour large amount because of the profit, luckily she got busted because of lots of questioning and disappear with the money.

Source: AMA facebook page.

400  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is your selling plan in the bull run? on: August 18, 2023, 08:41:24 AM
I know it is not definite but highly likely the bull run will be 2024/25 and it will be my first bull run.

I am wondering when is best to sell and want to make sure I don't sell too early.

I have been in crypto just under 18 months now so all I am used to is bear market and being at a loss so feel as soon as the markets reverse and bull run comes it will all be new to me and I don't want to get too carried away and sell to early.

Does anyone have specific selling strategy during the bull run or do you just do what feels right at the time?
There is a few strategy in selling, this has been and always the best way:
Sell when its high or the price has been up and you have a nice profit.
Other thing that i do and one of my friends always reminds us in a group, sell when you think you are happy with the price,
The reason for it is you don't want to be in the buying stage where the price is already drop sell in a selling stage, this has been my problems over the years, when I wanted more, and end up with no profit at all and still down, so when bull market sell, and wait for the bear season to buy, trust me, you will end up the upper hand against others, new in crypto will hold their coins thinking they will be a millionaire in a few days just by luck, its not how it goes, always take profit, because when you are down, that's when you always make mistakes.
