I still cannot believe how people will fall for this scamchain launch. Avoid. No exchange sucks too etc. !!!
You're the one that was wanting it to be released and Intel optimized so badly. You're such a dumbass. Anyway, Please note that daemon=1 is not set, so if you want to run your litecoind as a daemon, you need to pass it in: "./litecoind -daemon" Is this actually necessary? Anybody know for sure? Because mine works just fine with only server=1 in my config. Cheers

Is adding daemon=1 necessary? Mine runs perfectly fine with just server=1
I think daemon might have been deprecated by the looks of the bitcoin wiki

Voting has closed, Litecoin will be launched at Thursday Oct 13, 03:00 GMT If you are in the US, that's 8pm pacific and 11pm eastern on Wednesday Oct 12. That's less than 24 hours away! Make sure you have updated your binaries.
Lets try to get the fixed litecoin.conf file up for EU users so they can download it automatically and start mining at the same time as US users. +1. It would be great if there was a litecoin.conf that we can just wget at 3AM and start mining (or even just a text file that was updated with the 2 extra parameters at 3AM that we could append to our configs?). Although I'm glad I have my backup plan if not

I have no control over the launch time. Only the poll does, so go vote.
I voted Thursday and so did most other people so why are you saying Wednesday now !? Please check your timezone. The last option in the poll is Thursday in GMT but Wednesday in the US. And that's 29 hours away. Yes I am in London so GMT is the time I need. So then it is Thursday my time right !? Please make it in afternoon not at 3AM like SolidCoin ! Now you're just being dumb. Why do I even bother responding to you? Why am I being dumb ? I am asking you to release it at a reasonable time so I don't have to stay awake all night then go to work the next day without having slept a minute etc. Please consider this. Thanks ! Read the first quote above again. I already said that whatever option wins out in the poll will set the time of launch. So why should I make the launch later just for you... especially when you call me a Japanese scammer in your sig? +1. Bulanula: what happened to "OMG SCAMCOIN!"? If you're at work, then tough shit. Sucks to be you. 4am is inconvienient for me also.

Bitcoin isn't good enough, he knew it, everyone else is starting to realize it (BTC price) and at this stage SolidCoin is leading the pack of cryptocurrencies when it comes to features and security.
HAHAHAHA. "SolidCoin is leading the pack of cryptocurrencies". Open your fucking eyes buddy. This is hilarious. No-one is taking your shit-coin seriously any time soon. Also, you mention BTC price. By that logic, shit-coin is about 400x less respected than bitcoin. Good job buddy.

Quick question, when the launch does happen, will we need to do any config changes in order to mine? Apart from setting testnet=0 of course
Just setting testnet=0 and possibly another setting in the config that needs to be set which will be announced closer to the date should do.

I hope we get a second round to choose between the 2 most voted options. It'd be sad to end up launching at 3am just because GMT voters got spread over 3 day times.
If there's a close tie between the last 2 options. Would it make sense to launch halfway between them? that would be changing the rules of the vote halfway. Not fair. It is also very possible that the average would be very inconvenient for people who voted for the nearest time slot. For instance 1h more or less can make the difference between being at home and being at work. It's not fair already. A weighted average between the 2 would be a good compromise, as it's going to be inconvienient for the everyone that didn't get the one they wanted regardless.

Starting the windows client without a litecoin.conf file and testnet=1 in it results into a nasty Visual C++ crash something about assertion.
if you read the assertion it'd tell you that you need to put "testnet=1" into your litecoin.conf in the right directory!

Yeah. I check the thread daily but I'm not subscribed to it better safe than sorry indeed.

Thanks for the tip.
No problem. I know a lot of people don't read this far into the thread and it'll probably get buried in it eventually. (the bitHopper thread is a perfect example of this.. (200+ pages ))

!!! IMPORTANT UPDATE !!!In order to prevent what's known as the Zeitgeist2 51% attack where the attacker gets to change the difficulty at will and generate a ton of blocks at a low difficulty, I've released a mandatory update to the code and the clients. Please check the first post and download the new client. Or if you are building from source, do a "git pull" and recompile. Here's the actual fix: https://github.com/coblee/litecoin/commit/b1be77210970a6ceb3680412cc3d2f0dd4ca8fb9Thanks to Lolcust and ArtForz for it. If you do not update, your client will likely fork a new chain at the 2nd difficulty change (block 4032) due to a bad difficulty retarget. You don't want that! So please update your clients. And sorry again for this. Also, I've fixed the miner binary for Windows. Please download the new miner binary. Thanks! Please update the main post with this information or we'll certainly see many forking clients and angry miners!

Don't want to depress you but 3.00 GMT is actually 4 in the morning at the moment :-|
...I forgot about that. Guess I'll be setting up a cronjob and hoping for the best.

I'm really hoping that it's not going to be 3 in the morning... But no doubt it will be due to the number of non-UK users

Well, the market has spoken (for now), and Tenebrix is the top alternative currency with a 1.16% of the entire Bitcoin market cap. I believe this number does represent a faith by "the market" that Tenebrix as a whole is worth that much. What I don't get is why people trust Locust (with 90% of TBX pre-mined) to really use these coins as he advertises (bounties & laundry). I'm not saying that I have specific concerns or complains about him, but I don't understand where the positive trust is coming from. Does he have any credentials other than a two-month post history on Bitcoin Talk? If yes, I would very much love to see his references. I know many do not yet trust him and Tenebrix, but "the market" obviously does. Is it just lack of better alternatives, and a hatred of Bitcoin early adopters? If it's a desire for alternatives, why not Namecoin? Isn't it just a better (more feature rich) Bitcoin? Namecoin merged mining is just 5 blocks away (happens at block 19200)... FYI, I currently only hold Bitcoin, do not hold Namecoin, TBX, or any other alt. P.S.Not that I think "The Market" is infallible or something. After all, it thinks 1 BTC is only worth 4.3 USD, while I won't sell for less than 40 right now. +1 to this entire thread. There's always fairbrix though..

Haha. Your arguments are very thin my friend.
Deepbit going down won't affect bitcoin at all, people will just move to other pools. The market price will probably drop a bit, then correct itself after hash rate recovery. If there was a major coin dump on the market, it'd have a very hard time correcting from that.
I don't launder, as there's no need for such a service. Anyone who believes that your amount of premined coins is not going to affect the market in any way is quite frankly an idiot. If the coins aren't on the market for sale currently, they're still affecting people's trust and evaluation of the network, which has a direct affect on prices.
On a side note, your attitude towards the project is enough to cause it's failure alone in my opinion. Sure, you have a decent infrastructure growing so far, but poorly executed.

For the love of robot gods, BTC is chock-full of people with stashes that, if sold off, can drop the price to "shit-pies" before you can spell "shit"
And USD can be printed by US at a whim.
Call me when BTC and USD (also gold which is subject to some srs hoarding behavior) implode, mkay? Yes, but the difference is that is called early adoption, and not "lolololol let's h4x myself 99999999 coins". And the US government has no incentive to print off a fuck ton of money for one single person. Mt Gox & deepbit are so much bigger than their competitors that they are SPOFs too. This is true. But if you're smart you won't keep your coins either of those for any amount of time. Also, I am eagerly waiting on your suggestions for a decentralized cryptocurrency anonymizer architecture, preferably with at least pseudocode snippets. We don't need this architecture anyway. If someone has half a brain, they can obtain coins with a high degree of accuracy already, without help from a 3rd party.

Mining pool is a question of finding a pool-op who is interested ( There was a thread about that recently), or making your own (all the soft is on github). I would run one but my server isn't powerful enough I believe. Tried running a NMC one before but it struggled.. The "how much should one pre-mine" discussion is pretty silly and is growing stale. The best answer is "not 7 million". Sure, mine some for bounties, but that is excessive. That's just my opinion. The price doesn't make a difference when you have an insane amount of TBX saved up and can manipulate the price in a few seconds. Why don't you want a transaction anonymizer with a buffers several millions strong ? Because it's centralized. And that is a point of failure.

|
|
This, please?
I like the idea of TeneBrix, but premining 7million coins is hilarious.
