c-cex seems to be down. Does anyone know what is going on?

One of our summer projects is an Android wallet for the SMLY. Does anyone on this list have experience with programming Android wallets?

Since SMLY is scrypt based, we've been looking around at LTC and DOGE wallets for Android and most of the ones we've found are quite old and have not been kept up-to-date with updated libraries.

Can you folks suggest a good base for a SMLY wallet?

While we are on this topic: Do you have suggestions for (new/additional/useful) features that could be included in a wallet?

The cryptospecs app for Android  now includes the SMLY. Available in the app store.

The SMLY and tutor-web are used in education but they are also research tool. The main research proposal is described in http://bit.ly/tw2015-proposal

We've just put in a proposal to use the tutor-web (with the SMLY) for refugees. The idea is to use the concept of "Educational system in a suitcase" - read more at http://bit.ly/tw-refugees

OK, i'll let the pool running for a while. But the coin really needs some promo.. Maybe you should come into IRC and talk so some of the Promo-Guys (vindyne8,wigitgetit) etc
Thanks - and will do.

We're in the middle of a promotional effort and would greatly appreciate you folks helping out by re-tweeting anything you see on $SMLY or Smileycoin or tutor-web on twitter. If you look for them, there have been several nice posts, new web pages etc.

Recall that the SMLY is strongly linked to the tutor-web educational project. Here is some excellent tutor-web related news.

A PhD based on tutor-web research: Dr Anna Helga Jonsdottir defended her PhD thesis on April 17, 2015. The thesis title is "Development and testing of an open learning environment to enhance statistics and mathematics education". The work underlying the thesis was largely based on development and experiments using the tutor-web.  A copy of the PhD thesis is available at http://bit.ly/PhD-AHJ and the thesis also provides the single most comprehensive description of the tutor-web.

I've written to C-Cex requesting that they lower their minimum trading volume to 0.001 BTC per day from 0.1 BTC. SMLY tends to pull in about half of that so I do hope that they relent.
Thanks for the support.

We'll also need to do some promotion to get this volume up. Consider that a project on the way -- and we'll take any help we can get.

Thanks for your request guys, of course I'll add a pool for you:

https://smly.suprnova.cc

Happy mining ! :-)

My coins have been unconfirmed for several days now. I have made several attempts to contact you and you have not responded. Its the principal of the matter now.i know the coins are worth pennies but you not messaging me back gets frustrating.i just want a simple answer as to what's wrong why its taking so long to be confirmed.

If you were pointing this at me, I responded to your PM a only about an hour after you wrote it to me.

here the answer again:
The Nethash for Smly is so low at the moment, that the chain is just moving so slowly ... Confirmations are going as usual, there are just more miners needed. I've pointed one of my rigs to the smly pool now to let the blocks confirm.

As I've moved my scrypt rigs to 8bit now, the chain is stalled again.. No confirmations are taking place until someone starts mining smly again.

As I see this as a big problem to potential miners, I'll close the Pool soon. Please withdraw your funds and stop mining.
Can I ask you to please wait: I only just got back to the surface after some other tasks and got no indications of the problem before now. I will try to get more miners on this.

how many right now coin ?
The number on coinmarketcap.com should be correct: 24,468,510,000 (except for a possible time delay). Basically, this is 24 billion pre-mine plus whatever was mined later.

The pre-mine was done by setting a fixed reward of 24 million on the first 1000 blocks.

The coinmarketcap number should be based on the block height (75,385 in coinplorer.com) in the following way: 24000000*1000+(75385-1000)*10000 which gives 24.743 billion (note that there can easily be a time lapse between the coinmarketcap and coinplorer).

I should add that coinmarketcap is supposed to be using http://tutor-web.net/@@quizdb-coin-totalcoins  which gives the same number as the above formula (when you insert the coinplorer.com block height) -- i.e. coinmarketcap.com is quite a bit behind.

Note that this is 240 million, which is just a dump from mining.

capitalization 50 % ?

There was a pre-mine of 50%. If you go to the full thread at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=845761.0;all and search for "pre-mine" you will see the discussion, which is based on the pre-mine description on the homepage at http://tutor-web.info/smileycoin. The point of the premine was "the pre-mined coins are used to reward students for their performance" and the logic is given on the homepage.

Following a discussion in this thread, the following was added to the homepage: "The entire educational reward system will most likely be structured in a way similar to the block rewards for mining. The total number of coins will be 50 billion, 50% for each type of rewards. The block rewards are set to be 12.5 billion over the first 7 years and then go down by 50% every 7-year period. Doing the same for the educational rewards will result in the same annual totals or approximately 12.5 billion over the first 7 years. This implies that in the first year or two, while there are relatively few students, the rewards for acing an entire tutorial can be set very high, up to 1 million SMLY for a difficult tutorial."

I dont understand something..

According to suprnova NET hashrate is 194.62 MH/s ( that is my own hashrate) and I only getting (according to pool stats) 1,984,908.880 coins for it ?

Should it be a larger number of coins if block did not halfed? Or NET stats are not correct and net hashrate is larger then it calculates?
http://smly.hashlink.eu/ reports roughly the same hashrate (you are definitely dominating but not quite alone) but it also reports 10,000 coins per mined block (no halving for a few more years). The difficulty is up a bit but will come down in the next round.

I should add that the tutor-web project and SMLY will be introduced to instructors in Kenya at a conference in Nairobi as well as at Maseno University when I'll be there in August.

We're aiming at having a standalone system (laptop server+tablets) to run the whole thing, as a demo for areas with serious problems in connectivity. The system will sync to the outside whenever the laptop server gets an Intenet connection.

PS Right now I am inside the Great Firewall which does not like bitcointalk so please PM me if there are any serious problems.
