At this rate, just 3.5 more days until $0.
Maybe sooner. The lower it goes, the more panicky the situation becomes.

It's still falling! What the heck!?
I hate the fact that it falls when I sleep . :/ I can't even trade on it.

You should be more specific what part of 2015 do you mean . The price swing for an entire year can be a lot .

Looks like the price drop would demotivate a majority of people from mining as it won't be profitable at all.

The out of control euphoria made stupid people and scammers come into the bitcoin community. Now that the price is down, maybe they will leave. Making money on the price increase is dumb luck and speculation. If you want to make money on bitcoin, invest in companies who are building stuff with bitcoin. The stock of those companies will pay handsomely no matter the price.
The functionality of bitcoin doesn't change - whatever the price is. Let's say a payment processor gets 1% of a transaction. Someone buys a $100 bottle of wine with bitcoin. The payment processor gets a $1. If the price of bitcoin is $10,000/BTC or if it is .00001/BTC. Either way, the payment processor gets a buck. The only idiots who want the price to go up are the guys who didn't build something nice which works with bitcoin and are hoping to profit from pure speculation. I am glad they are all losing. The only people who deserve to be rewarded are the guys building Circle, Blockchain, Factom, et cetera. Go invest in a company busy making nice stuff. Let the speculators go down.
The only thing that the price swing has done is get more people to try it out. A lot of people just got in due to the price increasing.

Hi,
I want to buy .5 BTC , online bank transfer for BTC-e price. You go first or we can use escrow.
Regards
Just curious, why don't people use local bitcoins for these buying and selling ? Is it because of the price difference?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is one of the greatest things about bitcoins. The stolen coins can be tracked and the spending of them will lead them back to the thief.
Thats something that can definitely not be done with fiat.
I think you can always use a service like bitmixer to make them untraceable.

Looks like they were able to get 10$ for all their work on the video and the write up. The op and the campaign were probably set up by the same person. I see spelling errors in the video as well . At 1:42 benefits is mis-spelt as benfit.

Well i accept bitcoins for many freelancing jobs. Why would it be illegal?
Accepting bitcoins for freelancer job is not illegal, but the question how you are treating them in your tax return and want kind of documentation trail you are keeping in order to support with department queries is what matters. I am not sure if many people actually go about filing those incomes in their tax returns. As its hard to know which bitcoin address is whose, it would also be hard for the government to find out unless you trade them for Fiat.

Somehow I agree that despite we are already in the 6th year, the fact is that bitcoin's influence is not that outreached. It will definitely take time.
And concerning your statement on The ability to securely STORE money without the help of a 3rd party (such as a bank) and without physical plant (safes/warehouses)
I still don't understand why certain people prefer to keep their money in online wallet where they don't have control of their private keys.
People having small amounts of bitcoins don't mind storing their coins in an online wallet as it gives them access on the go .

Bitstamp promised to refund coins , and is now back in operation. So it wasn't goxxed. Thats very bold. Exchanges must be several orders more profitable than I thought if they feel they can reimburse this amount of Bitcoins. I see they have introduced multisig. At least they are learning. Are they allowing to withdraw coins/funds ? Yes, I think they have resumed operations on a whole. The only reason they would have paused those would be to investigate the hacking cause. However, it might be a publicity move to claim being hacked, so as to create publicity and free advertisement, then fix it and come out as good. Then immediately, implementing multisig so now people know its super safe and people trading on other exchanges would move to bitstamp. Just speculating ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) But it could always be possible. I just didn't think that they would keep 18K BTC on the hotwallet, and let it be hacked .

Trading begins at 4pm EST. That's 1 hour from now.
What will happen to the price when trading resumes? Do you think there will be a lot of sellers?
I have a feeling the price will go up when trading resumes. Especially if all the lost coins are refunded, it will make MT.GOX look very, very bad. Well, MtGox claimed to have lost all 750,000 coins. They would be in no position to refund that. Bitstamp was hit for a smaller amount.

I work in a power company..! I get free elec. but I dont have a decent internet connection to support miners!
You get free electricity for private consumption in your home? So they just waive your bill? Sounds like a jackpot to me ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) A lot of government employees in India get free electricity and other resources. I am sure a lot of people take advantage of this. Maybe they should use it for mining

Oh well done the smart student!! I am actually shocked to hear this. I didn't know that governor knew about bitcoins. He is a wise man, he understand the potential of things and takes steps after giving lot of thought. Hope we keep on getting such positive results.
Being from the financial background. He would probably would have known about bitcoins. Nice to hear, he didn't just reject it, but supported new technologies coming up in the future.
