381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will there be a flippening? on: June 13, 2017, 05:13:38 AM
The last couple days, the price of ETH went through the roof, due to china having interest in the token, and alot of other big companies and banks aswell.

ETH is currently nearing the marketcap, and if it continues like this, it will pass bitcoin's marketcap before august 1st.

What will happen then? Do you guys think there is going to be a flippening? Will eth take over the role of bitcoin?

The operative phrase is "if it continues like this"... because it won't. Bitcoin will not continue to rise like it has, and neither with eth. Crypto cannot sustain this kind of growth indefinitely.

I'd expect the flippening to happen within the next month or so.  Whether or not it will stay that way...no idea...but I do think the threshold of market cap will be crossed very soon.

The flippening can happen even if Bitcoin drops...it's just crypto vs. crypto at this point, regardless of their relative value compared to fiat.  If Ethereum grows faster, or declines slower, it will be bound to happen.

383  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: June 12, 2017, 09:16:43 PM

I don't have a straight answer, nor do I have proof, or even the thought or desire to convince anyone's belief system to be any different than it is.

There is no proof for the things you say.

It could just as easily be that 6000 years ago nearly all animals were domesticated. Then, gradually, the domestication was wiped out because of entropy in general. A few of the animals hang on to their domestication.

Cool

Since I already noted that I don't have proof, and then you're now telling me that there is no proof (lol) I guess we are settled then.  Since you don't have any proof either, I guess we're in the same place aren't we?  Wink

There is a difference between you having proof, and there not being any proof.

Lots of people don't have proof for lots of things that many others do have proof for. In this case, there isn't any proof.

Cool

Perhaps there's a monkey out there that setup a camera thousands of years ago with a time-lapse video recording of how they lost their fur, started using tools and increased brain mass.  When I get a hold of that SD card...I'll come looking for ya  Wink
384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Criminality and Bitcoin on: June 12, 2017, 07:59:13 PM
Why they are only looking at the possibility of bitcoin being used for criminality or any related violence funding? Criminality acts are even existing bitcoin is not yet created. And they are only taking advantage bitcoin for it's anonymity so they found a way for supporting their criminality.

What do you mean "only" for bitcoin and criminal activity?

It is seen as a whole bunch of things, like a way of transferring money, making payments for purchases, store of value, investment, etc.

It's meant to provide an alternative to the traditional banking system, so if it's used for criminal activity, know that the criminal activity that has utilized Bitcoin is partly responsible for the increase in demand and price.

Read the OP and you will understand why I said "only". Let's say they are one of the reason to make the demand higher, but if they are using bitcoin for such filthy crimes, I'm not going to consider that as helpful to the economy. This is the disadvantage of bitcoin and almost everything has disadvantage when money is involved.

What do you consider to be helpful to the economy?  For the government to say what you should and should not do?  And everyone obeys what the government wants?  Government knows best?  People aren't supposed to serve the government.  Government is here to serve the people.  If you are harming someone else with criminal activity, in that there is a victim, of course that needs to be understood and minimized.  But Bitcoin doesn't really support too much of that type of crime.  It supports crime in the form of trading products or services that are simply prohibited by the government, but at the same time, have no victim.  Understanding that the government doesn't care at all about your life or health, tell me why these prohibitions or lack of freedom exists?

In geology, we have found 2 or 3 times the number of fossils as there are living species. We really haven't found any missing links. But...

If there were all kinds of fossils out there, that were like missing links because of their similarities and slight differences, we still wouldn't know that they were part of evolution, or if they simply were all different species created by God.

You have to find living trans-species to know that fossils have evidence of evolution.

Evolution shoots itself down because it suggests a great expanse of time between changes that are recognizable as such. You might as well suggest that there isn't any evolution.

Cool

I'm just going to add in my 2 cents here for something that we can all relate to, which has happened right in front of us, and that's dog breeding.  All dog breeds originate from wolves, and humans have bred them to increase or decrease certain traits.  Now you have a husky, and you can say "Yeah I see the relationship between a husky and a wolf".  Then you have a chiwawa and the link to a wolf becomes really difficult to make any sense of.  It may look closer to a rat than it does to a wolf, but it's ancestor is a wolf.  This has happened over approximately 10,000 years of dog domestication and breeding.  So as the landscape of the earth has changed over time, why wouldn't species also change and adapt?
In your opinion, if you believe in evolution, then a person could grow horns or wings? But we must understand that a change in the species is implied only if this is influenced by certain aspects of his life. If we assume that a person is not from this world, then all animals and plants of the planet developed here.

What would be the purpose for a person to have horns or wings?  And would that be desirable for breeding?  I'm assuming it's a rhetorical question that doesn't need a practical answer Smiley

I would think that if survival and spreading seeds is the goal, as it seems to be for living things, then with natural selection, you'd want the most advantages to be able to survive.  The species would move towards breeding with those that have useful characteristics, and away from those that do not possess those useful characteristics, or be challenged with the competition of survival with less tools.

I don't have a straight answer, nor do I have proof, or even the thought or desire to convince anyone's belief system to be any different than it is.

If you believe everything was created this way, then so be it.  Totally cool with me Smiley

388  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin heading to $4,000 on: June 12, 2017, 03:01:08 PM
Bitcoin is a blessing to some of us here. We can testify, how since the beginning of this year that, we have make alot of return on our investment in bitcoin. I foreseeing bitcoin touching $4,000 before the end of October this year. Hope you join us in this less risk investment.

You foresee?  Like you are using your psychic ability to predict the outcome in the future?

And not that I agree or disagree with you, but other than your hopes and dreams, what is the rationale for behind your prediction of an arbitrary price within an arbitrary time frame?
Nothing to say that he's wrong. Such arbitrary price speculations only has take all of us to reach $4000. By the years to come we can expect more adoption, so increase in price is true but need to think a little more about the time frame within which it takes place.

In general, the rationale that adoption will increase over time makes sense.  That would increase the demand and add some stability to the currency.  But to say it has gone up in the past so that is the justification that it will continue to go up at the same rate...then how would you explain events in the past, like when Bitcoin hit $1000 and then came crashing back down to $200?  Is that foreseeable too?  If that's not foreseeable, then nothing is.
389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be used by ordinary citizens? on: June 12, 2017, 02:41:04 PM
Bitcoin is usually used by people interested in technology. I mean, persons with a certain technical knowledge are interested in bitcoin.

My observations are that way. I think Bitcoin needs to reach larger quantities. Can use bitcoin in people who are not interested in technology?
Can people use the bitcoin in the profession group like tradesmen, teachers, housewives, firemen, butchers? Are we going to see the days that these people use bitcoin?

It would be like any technology before it.  It's first adopted by the tech community and requires skill to use, like computers for example.  When computers first came out, they weren't for everyone, just the tech savvy crowd that had interest in it.  Monitors could only display text.  Then it went mainstream with a GUI that shows files, folders and applications differently than a dos type of interface.  And now with tablets or phones you simply press or swipe a screen with your hand and any 3 year old seems to get the hang of it very easily as it's more intuitive.  I'd expect cryptocurrencies to go the same way.  Where you have NFC tap on your phone, or a credit card, that would work from a user perspective, the exact same way a credit card does.
390  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where would society be without the internet? on: June 12, 2017, 05:35:54 AM
It would be like it was in 1993  Cheesy

Significantly more ignorant population, however maybe less distracted.  Cable TV would be great entertainment, or maybe going outside lol.  People would listen to the news on TV and continue to think they know what's going on around the world, because a news reporter said it into a microphone.

Phone calls would still be a thing.  Couldn't google anything, still need to research in the library.

392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to keep altcoins/crypto alive on: June 12, 2017, 04:02:04 AM
I think first bitcoin needs to address its core issues that are driving people away from it, high fees and delayed transactions are certainly a problem that needs to be solved for it to remain its stature at no#1 crypto. Otherwise, I feel currencies like Ethereum can easily topple the rank, but lets see.

Bitcoin is thriving on its popularity.  It's the most well known, even in the somewhat mainstream.  But the computations and processing that miners do, doesn't have an actual purpose.  It is using energy to make transactions happen and that's it.  Ethereum and other cryptos can have purpose behind the computations/processing, and I would think as time goes, the most functional crypto that is able to use energy efficiently will become more popular as cryptos mature past this infancy stage we're in (at least I consider it to be).

Could have been an angry dude that just lost his bet that jumped in to take out his frustration? haha but it's crazy how easy it is for people from the crowd to enter the ring.  Octagon is a bit better for security.
I also found it weird that Groenhart curled up and almost went fetal with a dude from the crowd trying to fight him.  I would think a highly trained kickboxer could maybe land 1 knee which would paralyze a normal dude.
That is really unfortunate, which fight was that, was that in the NZ UFC,but i did not find any fighter being attacked by the crowd. The problem with these events are they will be providing booze in the arena and since you are watching a combat event anything could happen, you can never predict how someone would behave when they are high, full security must be given to the fighters no matter what.

It was the Murthel Groenhart vs. Harut Grigorian fight in Glory kickboxing.

Here's a link to a video clip of it: https://twitter.com/Grabaka_Hitman/status/873631499958071296
But you can just google it as well.

You'll see him Grigorian just start walking away while the fight is on...really weird...and get's KTFO.

Lol yeah alcohol changes the vibe of the audience, but these promotions and venue's need to sell their concessions...$12-15 beers.
394  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Negro Race is Objectively Inferior on: June 12, 2017, 03:14:41 AM
Just face it. Black people are hated globally, are the most different from all other races, are the only race incapable of generally succeeding in any society have never built or maintained modern civilization, band the only race that Chinese girls don't like.

With China and Asia rising and wealth bring freely transferred now, negros are the not even in the game, and are completely unwanted and useless.

Time to get on a plane and see how many friends you can make with such a wonderful attitude Smiley

Does it make you feel better about yourself to segregate humans and then say "I'm part of the chosen group"?

Look at the summer olympics and tell me that black people are inferior.  Or maybe the NFL or NBA.

Chinese people are welcomed by whites. We are friends against niggers. I have many white friends in Florida and we all despise niggers.

May I ask where that hatred comes from?  Is it the pigment of the skin that bothers you? Or a generalization about black people that you may think applies to anyone with similar skin colour?

Like there are black people all over the world in different cultures who are totally different people with different values and think differently regardless of the bloodline of ancestors.  North American, South American (including Caribbean), European, African, Asian, Australian...how can they all be "good" or "bad"?
395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 212: Aldo vs Holloway Info and Prediction Thread on: June 11, 2017, 08:01:28 PM
Wasn't there a fan actually a couple come into the ring last night after a fight where a guy punch another when he was turned away.
But the thing is that punch was all legal and was allowed so those fans where out of order to go and attack that fighter.

Yeah man I saw that as well.  I think Grigorian, who eventually got knocked out just had a brain freeze after that knee to the head.  From his body language, it looked like he was walking to his corner as if the round was over.  Must have been some knee Wink

397  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democracy and Voting = a choice? on: June 11, 2017, 07:39:26 PM
I thought I'd share my thoughts on here since this site seems to be quite libertarian friendly.

Does democracy provide real choice because you get to vote every 4 years?

What if you take that concept for anything else, let's say cars. There is only 1 car company in the world, Ford. You get to send Ford your suggestion every 4 years "I want SUV" or "I want fuel efficiency" or "I want a convertible" or "I want a pickup truck". And whatever suggestion was most popular, Ford would do that for the next 4 years.
Do you still call that having a choice?

Given the awareness of the current population, I think the choice of candidates that run (I assume you're referring to the US Federal elections) make perfect sense.  Most of them are candidates that are heavily supported and financed by special interests.  As the population is not yet united, they can be played and manipulated by political candidates.  The population isn't ready for an honest politician.  Ron Paul was an honest libertarian candidate that didn't have a chance in hell of winning.  Even Bernie Sanders is honest, with a more socialist approach.  Both don't take funding and don't support corporate/banking interests.  But we ended up with Hillary vs. Donald...two selfish people that show many traits of being sociopaths that are able to lie day in day out.  And that's what the people voted for and accept.

When the awareness of the population is ready to scrap personal and special interests for the benefit of society as a whole, the type of politician that makes it to the top will be very different.

"There are no political solutions, only technological ones; the rest is propaganda".  Politicians are absolutely useless, and when we understand that and they become obsolete, leadership can turn to tech innovators.  The people that can solve issues with technology.

Guys, the spreadsheet has been updated. Payments will be sent with some delay (usually on or before Friday) since blockchain.info has closed it's multisend functionality and I was mainly using that wallet for sending the payouts. I will update you all here once the payments are sent from my side. Sorry for the inconvenience.

This campaign is now over and you all are free to remove your signatures.

Edwardard, good job managing this campaign and communicating.  Storj is off to a great start.

Cheers.

@freeyourmind. I do not think Dana White is only like an employee now. He still has an interest of 9% of profits made by the company. He also still runs the show and has the power to make the decisions on matchmaking and other deals.

Yeah you're right.  I know he sold his 9% share, but didn't know he still received 9% of future profits without that share in the company.  I stand corrected.

Although he definitely has different objectives, so it's not him totally running the show.  The UFC is run very differently before and after the sale.  It's about max viewership now, so fighters that are skilled and not the most popular, don't really get many opportunities.  We can see the behaviour of fighters changing, and artificially talking shit and being their own version of Conor to try and get some attention and viewership.

Im pretty sure White is very well off and retired for life, he will keep getting dividends from the company. I only see the UFC going higher and eventually will be able to get massive paydays for the fighters boxing style.

It depends on how good the fights are, it all comes down to that. If they give us the fights we want it will be a success.

He was supposed to get 360 million for selling his share to WME, and he was likely quite well off even before the sale.  Without having a well run fighters union OR legit competition in MMA, they pay isn't going to be like boxing.  Bellator would need to grow some more and directly compete with the UFC as a premiere organization, and then maybe they'll need to bid the price up on fighters.  Right now, unless you're one of the top handful of fighters/champions, you're probably not breaking 200k per fight.

Boxing has a very long legendary history as a sport. Give UFC some time. In a couple of decades it will be a more established sport with big paydays. It looks like all the kids are getting into MMA, so I would say MMA interest is growing more than boxing and at the end of the day all of these kids are the future UFC ticket buyers. In a couple of generations MMA will be consistently making more numbers than boxing, even tho I like boxing more but that's how it is.

That is of course unless boxing can create new big personalities with great talent that draw millions of people to tune in like Ali, Tyson, Floyd etc.

The Josua-Kltischko fight was exciting, I didn't felt that in a long time in the HW division so I hope I can see more of that.

Yeah MMA is getting a lot more popular, and it's been pretty mainstream for a few years now, with very frequent events (which dilutes the cards).  But the UFC is a single promotion, with Bellator as a growing #2.  It doesn't give many options for fighters to get paid well, regardless of whether or not UFC is making good gate/ppv revenue.  It doesn't affect the fighter's pay unless they are in a title fight or super popular.  I don't doubt that the UFC will make better numbers than boxing (they already do unless it's a huge boxing event I believe)...I just don't think it will translate into fighter pay until there is proper competition, and the UFC needs to start paying more or lose their fighters to other promotions.

And agreed, the Joshua Klitschko fight was very entertaining.  I like seeing GGG as well, but have shifted my interest in boxing to MMA around 15 years ago.
400  Economy / Economics / Re: Think about this: Is crypto a bubble.... or is fiat a bubble ? on: June 09, 2017, 10:06:37 PM
There are forced transactions on fiat currencies (like the USD) which artificially increase demand substantially.
[snip]

Fiat reserve currencies are violently enforced throughout the world. The USD reserve currency is the enforcer for all central banking systems even in far-away remote countries...because the USD-fiat authorities set the rules for things like AML/KYC and even if a small tiny irrelevent bank in another country does not comply, they are cutoff from any inter-bank remittances (and or the SWIFT network for wires) and thus shut down over time.

Violently enforced through bombs, conflicts, economic sanctions (your people will starve), financing of wars, financing of international defense contractors or construction, freezing of assets, closure of financial institutions.

Coercion has kept the game going in the past, ...but will it work in the future?

Bitcoin has emerged as the proven store of value that is honest with an immutable ledger that cannot be corrupted.

Most other cryptocurrencies, >90%+ of them are scams or temporary pumps or combination of both that offers little novel value to the world.

Just give it 10 more years when the Fiat Fakers wake up and smell the coffie and put some of those corupt powers they bought against Bitcoin then lets see how it survives when they say you need a "aproved" laptop, aproved "internet". Trust me they can crush BTC right now they are not aware of the threat to their fake evil system when they become aware they fight dirty and will crush BTC i'm 99% sure!

Since the crypto market is a relatively free market, I feel that even if the fiat overlords attempt to take out a crypto by buying it out, there is nothing stopping another one being created again for the people.  Old banking vs. new tech.
