382  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Proposing new feature in Bitcoin protocol to reduce the number of thefts on: September 30, 2014, 03:38:36 PM
Whatever scenario you envisage that requires a solution, I'm sure someone else can come up with a scenario that will require anotrher solution.
at the end of the day, the tools are available for us to protect our assets.
If someone chooses to holds a gun to our heads, or to our children's they can possibly defeat any means of protection employed by most people.
383  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Largest Bitcoin Mine In The UK on: September 30, 2014, 03:21:41 PM
Looks nice, it doesn't matter what Photos you supply though, people will still question.
Good luck with your venture though.
I've got a 1.3 MH scryupt Miner from Gaw sitting here doing nopthing, might try to get it hashing,
how much to host it.

385  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [PAUSED] CoiningSolutions.com Cointerra Shares ฿2 = 25GH/s [CLOSED] on: September 26, 2014, 06:30:00 PM
Maybe we should be investing in a solar farm, to pay for our electricty costs. that way we can run miners until they fall to pieces and not have to worry about electricity costs.
Significant capital outlay of course but...we could hire out the facility for miner hosting.
386  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [PAUSED] CoiningSolutions.com Cointerra Shares ฿2 = 25GH/s [CLOSED] on: September 26, 2014, 06:13:02 PM
Wow, we had to consider the possibility that things might not be rosy, but I wasn't expecting things to be this bad with the units.   Thanks for your efforts so far on my / our behalf anyway Waldo.

If the intention is to hope for a BTC price hike, then putting them online hashing at a lower rate now is an option.
Not sure what the electricity costs would be.
I'll make some suggestions that may or may not be popular.
Maybe if we all donated a small sum to buy a unit(s) that currently work to generate enough revenue to pay for the electricity, No idea how practical that is in terms of costs etc.
Or simply donate a small percentage of our payout to pay for the electricity to get them hashing I accept this might not be popular, I'm just trying to think outside the box.

I have 12 x 1MH Titans,   if it meant getting these these hashing even at a lower rate, what If I / We volunteered one of those units and if everyone else considered doing the same to generate enough revenue to pay for the electricity costs to get them online does something like this work as a solution and what would the figures be.

The idea being that if there is to be a jump in BTC price, we would have accrued some by then and make back our losses.
If we sit and wait for the BTC price we have to start mining then, plus we will be competing with a lot more miners scrambling to get on board.
If we try to get hashing now, we may accrue a significant amount of coins to really benefit from a price increase.
If the Titans are not as expected, what effect will this have on BTC and how can we profit from it.
One 'benefit' might be that a lot of people might jump ship meaning the difficulty may not rise as much as anticipated.
If we can get hashing now, we may be able to mine longer and benefit more from a future BTC price increase,

387  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Has anyone tried Puppy Linux? on: September 21, 2014, 12:08:06 AM
I use Puppy Linux, I like it.
Does what I need it to do.
I have three old machines and use various version of Puppy on them, some are very old and Crappy PCs. One version of Puppy, 'Wary' is specifically designed for older machines.
I don't mine at home and don't play games so Puppy does what I need to to.
388  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: list / cheapest places to buy cloud mining on: September 20, 2014, 11:03:26 PM
The thing that bothers me about cloud mining is none that I've visited have a system whereby the mined or earned coins are sent automatically to an external address.
you always seem to have to log on and send out the coins you have accrued.
Actually, that's not true, PB Mining have that inbuilt.
Ideally, I think, with cloud mining, I'd prefer not to haver to keep logging in every few days to redeem my coins, surely it would be better to at least have the option to have them sent to your Mobile phone wallet / Brain or other wallet automatically.
I suppose though if enough people sign up to these cloud mining services, then one or two of them are going to forget about their cloudmining or be killed in some freak accident or just die and that way, the cloud mining company gets to keep the coins generated by the unfortunate investor.
Or am I just being a little bit too cynical.
It would be Great to have a facility on some of these cloud mining  services where you can specify, I'd like 25% re-invested into more Hash power and send the other 75% to my mobile phone BTC / LTC address.
That way, I can just forget about it all.
Surely such a service would be quite attractive.

389  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo Mining with old outdated equipment? on: September 20, 2014, 10:48:38 PM
If the power usage is not so great, say with a Pi, you could maybe connect it to a solar panel, and program the Pi to switch on and mine when their is power (sunlight), then put the rig somewhere and forget about it.
In 10 yrs time, you might have got lucky and be the lucky owner of 25 (or 12) Bitcoins which by then might be worth  Huh      Think of the initial cost as ten years worth of lottery tickets.
390  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What can I use Bitcoin miners for other than mining? on: September 20, 2014, 10:21:14 PM
Maybe when the next round of Asics are being designed they might take all those now defunct asic miners into consideration and design the next asics to fit into the ones that are now defunct.
391  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What can I use Bitcoin miners for other than mining? on: September 20, 2014, 10:10:05 PM
As the difficulty continues to rise, Perhaps someone may find a way to use them for mining Brainwallet addresses.
392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [How TO] Mining digibytes via Digital Ocean on: September 20, 2014, 12:40:45 PM
Very interesting that you can do this.
Gets me thinking.
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple pay will make bitcoin (even more) useless. Let's deal with it. on: September 17, 2014, 08:48:32 PM
Apple and the big Guys are not on the side of the people, they may start off with low prices but their ultimate aim is HUGE PROFIT.
Altcoins, at their core are very altruistic and will always challenge them, providing the NWO doesn't initiate WWIII long term I think the Altruism behind  cryptocurrencies will eventually win.
394  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Here is how to make a brain wallet 100 times more secure. on: September 17, 2014, 08:41:15 PM
Isn't This    Sha256(BCrypt(PassPhrase)) an easier solution.

Bcrypt or some slower solution, even better if you let the slow down factor for Bcrypt be your birthdate.

395  Economy / Economics / Re: Within 2 years, effectively 85% of all bitcoins are mined! on: September 17, 2014, 07:42:33 PM
Long may it continue, someone buying 1 BTC a couple of yrs ago made a few hundred dollars by now.
And if it continues like this, someone buying 0.01 BTC today will make a few hundred dollars in a few years time.
What's the problem.
No one's missed the boat,
Bitcoin is deflationary over the long term,
the time to jump on board (cautiously) is always today.
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's about time to turn off PoW mining on: September 17, 2014, 04:24:09 PM
That's a very interesting point actually, about money flowing to hardware manufacturers and energy companies.  it might be Bitcoin's achilles heel,    Undecided
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Term 'Early Adopter' May Be Inaccurate on: September 17, 2014, 04:20:13 PM
Because Bitcoin is a deflationary currency, In 20yrs time, people getting in now might be deemed early adopters.
