381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] B1bl3Coin POW/POS to be released on November 1 - 2014 on: November 26, 2014, 04:59:51 PM
IPO scam

FYI, I've placed a 1000 FIND bounty on you, "B1bl3coin" dev

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=865270.msg9640025#msg9640025

I don't know who the B1bl3Coin developer is or what his intentions are so I am not defending him, but neither will I accuse him of any wrong doing.  While he still has a lot of trust to earn, this guy hasn't done anything wrong to anyone.

Nanite and Spark, which launched about the same time as B1bl3Coin ended up being the 'scam'.

The point is that while the intentions may be for the 'greater good', people shouldn't jump to conclusions and make damaging accusations without some due diligence.  In the case of B1bl3Coin vs Nanite, you 'caught the wrong guy'.

Perhaps, you can help us and offer your opinion on this new "LionCoin" with the X15 PoW that launched a few days ago.
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Teleport/Telepathy Privacy Tech--SuperNET Core Coin on: November 24, 2014, 11:35:28 PM
Tell me how much BTCD can be mined per day with 500Gh/s? Planning to buy in a miner then.

BTCD is not 'mineable' since it's PoS only now.  You can still 'mine' using a multi-pool but this is not the best way to get BTCD at the moment.  Your better off buying all now with BTC directly, instead of mining altcoins, trading, and buying little by little over time.
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / [ENDED] Bitmain Coupon Codes for ZetaCoins on: November 24, 2014, 03:43:25 PM
I have some Bitmain coupons for S4's, S3's, and C1's that I may not use.  They expire on 11/30/2014.
I'd like to trade them for some Zetacoins.  Please post serious offers on this thread.

For those that like the source on github:
https://github.com/tuaris/LionCoin

Also, I added this coin to my pools.  Faucet will follow after I get some LionCoins.
386  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: MultiFaucet - Crypto Coin Dispenser [UPDATED version 0.8.2] on: November 22, 2014, 09:04:14 PM

387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZET] Zetacoin - SHA256 coin - Quick confirmations - 0.9.2.1 on: November 21, 2014, 08:30:52 PM
Just wondering if anyone has noticed this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=840252.0

Explained in full detail here:
https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0042.mediawiki

Since TeaCoin is based on ZetaCoin, has this been fixed in Zetacoin?

Looking through the source code, it doesn't seem to be fixed.  According to the above documentation, Zetacoin will be rewarding 1000 ZET starting at block #5,160,960.  I hope this can be fixed before that.

391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: maxconnections and memory usage on: November 13, 2014, 12:38:01 AM
Some more experimenting with memory usage.  I've increased the maxconnections to 15 and there are currently 12 peers

Code:
62753 nobody         10  45   20   418M   346M uwait   1  18:31   5.96% /usr/local/bin/tekcoind -conf=/usr/local/etc/tekcoin.conf

The memory usage appears to have gone up only by a few kilobytes.  So it looks like each connection uses a very small amount of resources.
392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin 500% PoS/PoW hybrid SuperStake on: November 12, 2014, 10:56:46 PM
Important:
If you already upgraded from https://github.com/noise23/TEK please re-download the latest source from there and rebuild.
Client version should be 2.1.1 , version 2.1.0 is not valid.
Windows wallet coming soon.

How does this affect blocks that where already mined on 2.1.0?

Okay, just looked at the source and looks like mined blocks will be okay.  Updating now.

Upgraded. Now waiting for client to stop saying checkpoint too old before I send my newly added coins from Cryptsy.
My pool is updated but I still get this message
"Checkpoint is too old..." message is normal, we are preparing TEK for autocheckpointing and the message just means that checkpointing server is not online yet.
I just changed the code to not show this message, if you redownload the latest source it will disappear.

Thanks, looks like things are getting better.  Blocks are getting accepted and no longer being orphaned.
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / maxconnections and memory usage on: November 12, 2014, 01:25:49 PM
I found this page https://gist.github.com/laanwj/efe29c7661ce9b6620a7 and it says

Quote
-maxconnections=<n> - the maximum number of connections, this defaults to 125. Each active connection takes up some memory. Only significant if incoming connections are enabled, otherwise the number of connections will never be more than 8.

The part that I am most interest in is, Each active connection takes up some memory. Only significant if incoming connections are enabled.  How much memory would each connection need/use?

It doesn't seem that limiting it to values lower than 10 reduce the memory usage much further according to my results.  Take for example, a Bitcoin and an altcoin (TekCoin) daemon:

The configuration is limited to 3:
Code:

maxconnections=3

Bitcoin is currently connected to 3 peers:
Code:

[connections] => 3

The memory usage
Code:
 1702 nobody         13  22    2   720M   304M uwait  653:12   0.00% /usr/local/bin/bitcoind -conf=/usr/local/etc/bitcoin.conf -d

For my altcoin, I have limited it to 10

Code:

maxconnections=10

It currently has 8 peers connected
Code:

[connections] => 8

The memory usage

Code:
 29953 nobody         11  52   20   414M   345M wait    1   4:10   4.93% /usr/local/bin/tekcoind -conf=/usr/local/etc/tekcoin.conf

I currently have all my coin daemons limited to 3 connections thinking it will save RAM, but it looks like I may not be.  Also, is it true that if I have it limited to a value less than 8, then the daemon will not accept incoming connections?

Wallet not connecting...

my gimpcoin.conf

server=1
listen=1
deamon=1
rpcuser=rpcuser01
rpcpassword=usedtomineblock01
port=15072
rpcport=15073
rpcallowip=*
addnode=137.ip-5-196-4.eu
addnode=gmp.coin-miners.info

You can try adding
addnode=gimpcoin.securepayment.cc

But it may take a while because all my connection slots are used up at the moment.

By rough estimate, do you mean you expect xnan to be work 16000 Satoshi at the time of your launch?
Or is this # based on the current market price?

This is quite clever, hopefully there is plenty of inventory to backup the demand and drive up the price to the correct levels to match the costs.

By the way if someone is generous enough to fill the Nanite faucet (currently dry), please PM me that you did so.  It's not an automatic process.
