This is about as bad as it gets when releasing a new coin. At least Bosscoin worked. lol!
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: QuarkCoin main website hacked by Megacoin! on: December 10, 2013, 05:37:14 AM
Stay Classy!

http://megacoin.cc redirects to Quark site.

IMO this makes both coins look stupid...
lol didn't know that was even a site?
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][UNC] UnionCoin - The Brand New Cryptocurrency on: December 10, 2013, 05:33:17 AM
Guess we should make sure there wasn't a key-logger or something in there. lol!
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Quarkcoin planned on Dec 13th to be added on btc38.com - OFFICIAL on: December 10, 2013, 05:30:40 AM
So is it too late to buy quarkcoin at a decent price or should we buy more now and hold? I mean look what happened to ppc and ltc when they were added to bigger trading sites. Also I want to know what are the qualities that set quakrcoin apart form other coins? What is its intrinsic value as a coin? Smiley
Well, even at $1 you would be getting a 4x return on your money right now. That's only a market cap of 247 mil... Tiny compared to BTC or even LTC

That is really a nice return on investment. So they looking at it as becoming the next ppcoin the? That is really interesting. I will follow the trail with interest. I do have already 15 quarkcoin but I guess it is time before the 13th to purchase more. I have btc sitting in my wallet so will transfer some over tonight. Smiley Thank you for the kind advice..
No problem. Quark to da moon!
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][UNC] UnionCoin - The Brand New Cryptocurrency on: December 10, 2013, 05:24:35 AM
Says I am two days behind? lol 2 days of pre-mining? No connection to the block chain?

so I plan on running 3-4 cards at first. I will start with 3 cards but I will likely get another come the new year. So for now, let's say 3 cards.

I was told to just stick with 4 gbs ram since 8 isn't really necessary.

Here are the risers I was planning on getting:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-Express-PCIe-16X-Riser-Card-Ribbon-Extend-CableMolex-Power-Capacity-Filter-/271340798897

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCIe-express-1X-to-116x-Riser-Extender-Card-with-Molex-Power-Ribbon-Cable-/141063481854

are these the right ones to get? and how many do I need?

I thought about getting 2 psu's but the coolmax one in my list is a good price, is gold rated and has lots of over hang for 3-4 cards. are these good psu's? thanks everyone, I can't wait to get mining!

these are the risers.. they say extenders but what is the dif between these and what you're talking about?
You will need 3 of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA29716C8635&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-_-pla-_-Audio+%2f+Video+Accessories-_-9SIA29716C8635&ef_id=Up@HrgAABCD5JDjk:20131210024333:s

And two of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCIe-express-1X-to-116x-Riser-Extender-Card-with-Molex-Power-Ribbon-Cable-/141063481854

So they do appear to be cheaper there. Most of the time they go for around $100. With 5 card you will need to go with the 1200 watt powersupply.

so I will going with 3 cards for my first build. is this the appropriate number of risers I need for a 3 card build? I'm assuming at this price it's still cheaper to go this route? I have seen that guide before and I use it as a reference but I hear so many different opinions about how to "properly" build a rig I wanted to reach out to the community. will is be cheaper to get say 2x 750w psu instead of going for the 1200w coolmax? I might be over doing it with a 1200w psu and only 3 gpu's?
With 3 gpus you don't need any risers. They will all fit on that board. But if you want them to last longer use the extension ribbons. (These are not the powered ones). They go for about $5.
389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 10, 2013, 03:01:45 AM
Was expecting a drop to the teens, nice to see it's holding stable in the mid 20's.
Same here... I also must be a monkey... the Sexcoin I have been mining for the last week is also up over 300 % and now is on coinmarketcap! lol!15,000 per day & SXC is now worth almost 2 cents ...wow
390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Official Sexcoin Thread - New Client In Testing on: December 10, 2013, 02:58:07 AM
I just got done tweaking the Lavapit.

It seems that the "full production suggested number of threads" is way too low.

before:
Code:
# How many threads use for synchronous methods (services).
# 30 is enough for small installation, for real usage
# it should be slightly more, say 100-300.
THREAD_POOL_SIZE = 300

after:
Code:
THREAD_POOL_SIZE = 400

If this looks like it fixes it, I'll tweak a little more.

+1 Looks like my miners are running full speed ahead. Thank you! Smiley
391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need advice for building ALT mining rig on: December 10, 2013, 02:55:41 AM
For that price I think I might be adding 2 more cards on both my AS rocks 970 boards. lol!

Am running this PS with that board and processor. When I bought it, it was on sale for $99.

It is good & modular with 6 PCI-E connectors.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817116016

If I went with this psu would I still need the risers? I'm a little confused as to what they are even for but I was told to get powered ones. can someone confirm this?

Will a 850w psu run 3 cards?

850 watts will not run more than 3 7950s. the powered risers can be $100 a pop. so you will be spending $300 on a board with two powered risers when you could get a board with 5 pci-e slots for $200

the risers I have found on ebay don't cost $100.. did I find the wrong ones?

How much? if they are 5-10 they are the extenders. which is good to raise them above the board for cooling.
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need advice for building ALT mining rig on: December 10, 2013, 02:21:23 AM
Also with more than 3 cards i would up your ram to 8gb as cgminer can run 1-2 gb per card on the 7950s.

what does modular mean? and should the psu be gold rated?
Modular means you can add power adapters as you need them. Your case is much less cluttered. Gold rated is better.

That board will only support 3 7950's without the powered pci - pci-e risers which would defeat the purpose of ordering that board in the first place.
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: QRK TRADERS - go to BTER, it works perfectly on: December 10, 2013, 12:48:12 AM
Spread the load, try BTER. I have deposited BTC very quickly there and bought QRK with no stress and hassle at all.

Don't even think cryptsy will be fixed anytime soon. If they could have fixed the QRK market they would have done so by now. Their other markets are running okay now. QRK has too much volume for their script. If you sit there waiting thinking any day now the busy markets will start running smoothly you will be sorely disappointed. Adding more servers will not help at all.

Give it a BTER a go, it needs more volume on the QRK market since most are at cryptsy.
+1 My BTC showed up and I was trading in under 10 min.
