381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Burst weekly report! The future is bright! Proof of Capacity is here. on: May 21, 2018, 04:11:18 AM
Vermalen's update is much appreciated but I would like to add more details in this week's Burst weekly report.

The project is undergoing one of the most important milestones and I hope some of you would join us in support of what will be one of the greatest developments in cryptocurrency history. The Dymaxion.

  • In preparation of the pre-Dymaxion hard fork planned for block 500,000, testing of the wallet is going well. PoC Consortium developers rico666 explains: “so far it looks like the core is stable, but the UI needs more polishing. This is not a real showstopper though.”

  • PoC1 to PoC2 switch testing still needs more time – it has highest priority now.

  • The PoC Consortium started to replace all its 1.3.6cg wallets with BRS 2.0.4 (pool backends, public nodes…). The pools have been running stable and winning blocks with the latest version. We also have positive reports from 3rd parties who have done so for over a week without problems.

    • The PoC Consortium therefore suggests all 1.3.6cg pool operators do the upgrade. In the near future, upgrading from BRS 2.0.4 to BRS 2.2.0 is going to be quite easy so by upgrading from 1.3.6cg (or lower) to 2.0.4 you are doing most of the work upfront.

    • This also means the 1.2.9 lifelines are being cut now. As a reminder, 1.3.6cg public nodes are the only bridge between newer versions and the old 1.2.9 version. With the decrease in number of 1.3.6cg nodes, it can be expected that 1.2.9 wallets will be dysfunctional even before the hard fork – which is intentional to ensure a smooth fork and a more reliable network.

When Binance listing?
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A case for Burst's Proof Of Capacity on: May 19, 2018, 02:44:39 AM
A writer from newsbtc.com, called JPBuntix, wrote this opinion piece to refute the assertion that PoW mining of BTC is wasteful. But his argument is weak. He did not tell us the fact that electricity is a finite resource. That is why big corporate miners move from country to country like parasites for mining profits.

Another idea he suggested is renewable energy. JPBuntix did not tell us that the cheapest way to generate electricity is by burning fossil fuels. What corporate miner is using 100% renewable energy?

Proof of Work is the best to secure blockchains, but it will not be sustainable.
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Want start a new website like - ICOBENCH.COM on: May 18, 2018, 04:56:28 AM
Just build your site and worry about the traffic later. What matters is to make your service better and put a splash of originality even though it is a copy a other established ICO listing websites.

You dont have to reinvent the wheel to start something new.
385  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitsane a good exchange to use? on: May 18, 2018, 04:45:50 AM
Hello there, is thread still rollin'? wonder if your issues been resolved
because I had nothing but successful transactions
well, yeah, no chance to work with fiat for US, but crypto-wise - all good, hope to hear from you, guys

Sometimes its hard to day if those accusations are true. Maybe the forum should have its own "exchange review" thread done by the staff or a trusted legendary member.

That said, Bitsane was one of the sponsors in Consensus 2018. The exchange is not a scam but it might be run badly by the owners.

Rico, what is your opinion on this blog by Siacoin's lead developer? Do you think it is possible that some solo miners in Burst are exploiting the time memory trade off "attack" by using ASIC miners on Burst?

The State of Cryptocurrency Mining

Maybe if after the hard fork to PoC2, we see a significant reduction in total mining capacity, it would be proof that Burst was exploited, no?

We analyzed the won blocks in the high scoop range for any suspicious patterns like being won by certain individuals and have found nothing.
If someone is using PoW to time-memory trade, he's either hiding it very well or not existing.

I don't think anybody is using SHABAL ASICs for that, as the $1M upfront cost (minimum and only in case all went well very fast and on the 1st try) seems not economically viable given the current Burst MktCap.

Good! I brought it up because I know someone who is as paranoid as me will sooner or later. But its nothing PoC2 cannot fix.

Having that said, maybe the next order of business is mitigating the possible grinding attacks on Proof of Capacity, or is that not a capable attack on Burst?

Ty for taking some time to reply to your fans lol.
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A case for Burst's Proof Of Capacity on: May 18, 2018, 04:23:33 AM
Another article on the wasteful use of energy in BTC's PoW mining algorithm. Bitcoin purists will find some reasons to justify PoW's wastefulness. What they should be doing is find other alternatives for PoW.

Burst and PoC might not be the answer for them, but it plotted the way to find the answer.

388  Economy / Economics / Re: Americans Taxed $400 Billion For Fiber Optic Internet That Doesn’t Exist on: May 17, 2018, 03:56:20 AM
The US defense budget surely needs filling up again lol. They have been doing that post World War II by making the IRS more efficient in collecting taxes, increasing taxes and doing things like whats shown in that news article.

North Korea should take the olive branch now before its too late lol.
389  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Easier way to see the overlap of crypto projects? on: May 17, 2018, 03:24:41 AM
No but I think its a good idea to make a coin ranking website like Coinmarketcap but with the coins indexed better under different classifications. PoW and PoS should be separated if you ask me, and more indexing under PoW and PoS are needed.

If coins do the same thing then you should check their Github and try to see what project is more active in development.
Good idea but someones doesn't have the plan to make such thing. It would really be a helpful tool but this requires effort and time to compile the list. So many altcoins in the market which do have almost identical proposed purposes which it turns out that the market is being flooded by garbage or not really necessary project since the other one had already launched or make use of that idea.

Coinmarketcap can do it. The site already has all the APIs and data in place. All they need to do is have an indexed version of the site and hopefully have the average value of the top 10 in each index.

I think that would assist investors to know which part of the market is "hot" and which is not.
390  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: plz help i cant register in BITMAIN on: May 16, 2018, 04:29:01 AM
Are you sure that it was Bitmain's site? The URL must be Bitmain.com, no other alliterations.
Things like a fake site to phish accounts are not too uncommon especially crypto/bitcoin-related sites like bitmain.

If it's not, go to the official site and change your password immediately.

P.S.: Their site is not actually shitty, what's shitty are their ASICs' quality, mostly the last batches.

You should also make sure that you didnt use the same password and email address in your other accounts lol.

Some newbies make that same mistake over and over irregardless of the warnings given to them.

392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Consensus in May and Big Institutional Investments on: May 16, 2018, 03:51:26 AM
now consensus is ongoing, but the market has not moved up. I am pessimistic, consensus does not have a good impact and gives growth to the market. will it wait any longer?

Thats true. Consensus this year has been so far underwhelming for the market in contrast to what happened last year. Its the bear market. It indicates that no amount of "good news" can push the bulls if the bears are, right now, dominating them.
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Trading experts, what are your toughts on Burst? on: May 16, 2018, 03:44:59 AM
Heres an expert chart analysis shared in /r/burstcoin. But we already know whats coming for Burst. I will be a rocket ship theme park ride to the moon lol.

PoC2, dynamic nodes and dynamic fees are just the basic upgrades to make Burst as good as or even better than most cryptocurrencies.

How I can get this coin

mining or buying

Buying is better and the cheapest way to invest in Burst. It is very undervalued of you consider the mining difficulty, the development done today and the potential destination once the two hard forks are successfully concluded.

I hope you have at least 100,000 Bursts in your wallets. It is almost a sin not to have that amount at these cheap prices.

396  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins confirms ID verification and one account per person on: May 15, 2018, 02:59:05 AM
Localethereum time gents...

Works on a smart contract, you don't need to wait 1 hour for your deposit and doesn't need KYC. I messaged a couple of the top sellers in my region and they are all moving over.

Was a good run.

The reason why Localbitcoin is now asking for ID is to avoid regulatory problems. How sure are you that Localethereum will not be pressured by the regulators to do the same? Is the service decentralized? But what about the website, it can be taken down or given a cease and desist order.
397  Economy / Economics / Re: Buy 1 ounce Silver. End the Fed on: May 15, 2018, 02:54:32 AM
Nice FUD you made there. Do you work for the Fed?

I have high speed internet at home since 12 years. I read the internet. See my twitter page below for more.....

Okay so you have been trolling the internet for 12 years lol?

No I wont see your Twitter page because all you want is followers to listen to your crap.
398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's volatility is a non-issue on: May 14, 2018, 05:02:21 AM
I like Uberse's style. He stealthily included Ethereum in the article in a sentence that says both BTC and ETH are good stores of value lol.

Ethereum is not a good store of value because what it promises to deliver will not be delivered. Lets watch how long they can keep the ongoing scam last.
399  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins confirms ID verification and one account per person on: May 14, 2018, 04:56:12 AM
Is there a market for a darknet Localbitcoins type service? I think it will have to charge more. The price on keeping your anonymity is high nowadays. If you do not want to. You can always verify your ID on the regular Localbitcoins lol.
400  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Cryptocurrency is unsupported: is it true or is it a myth? on: May 14, 2018, 04:48:59 AM
Newbie account, long post. That looks like he copy pasted it.

But to answer if "cryptocurrencies is unsupported", yes it was true in the beginning in the case of BTC. Some were correct to say that it was a ponzi scheme. But not anymore today because theres economic activity behind it now.

Most of the altcoins still are considered ponzi schemes.
