381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Pump and Dump illegal/legal? on: June 28, 2017, 08:23:03 PM
Dear Community,

i found a channel/group where they pump and dump altcoins (https://t.me/AltcoinPumping)
I joined it, but I saw, there are over 16.000 members investing in a mentioned coin (sometimes more than 800 Bitcoins) and I have a little bit fear now, because itīs so big, that I think, it is not allowed. Shocked

Is here a expert or something who can tell us, if "Altcoin pump and dump" is illegal?
And how is the tax handeled with pumping profits?

I hope, you can help me, I searched in other boards and in different topics, but no one had a "save" answer. Huh Huh Huh

Greetings, Nacho

Why do I have a feeling that you are actually advertising that channel. There is a way you could have directed your question without actually putting the link up there because what you have done is just to promote this social menace in the crypto-world because the more people join, the more calamity will be done to the crypto-world. Although, its not illegal but its immoral because it means that innocent people will be losing their investment due to that while some people will be rejoicing at that.
382  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin End World Poverty? on: June 28, 2017, 03:47:32 PM

Poverty has been with us since ages past and from time immemorial and it will continue to be so till eternity. Even if bitcoin has determined to make everybody rich some set of people will still not accept due to cultural or religion differences then you see some people preaching its a sign of the end time and they would prefer to remain in poverty than to accept what will liberate them and thats exactly what we are
383  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitcoinTalk Addict.. on: June 28, 2017, 03:08:08 PM
Addicted to Bitcoins ?

Of course..

...

Addicted to BitcoinTalk.. !?

..Didn't see that one coming..

I'm on about '1 check every 10 minutes' 15hrs a day, 7 days a week, ... 5 years and counting..

..

I find it comes in waves.. sometimes you become a post monster, for a few weeks you're chatting away (arguing like mad).. and then you chill out, and lurk for a while.. before diving back in again..

..

Of ALL my addictions.. this is my favourite..  Tongue

Thanks All!

(Maths + Money + Code .. who could ask for more.)

I will also say I am beginning to get addicted as the only time I dont know whats going on at one sub-section of the forum or the other is when I am sleeping and even at that I still wake up in the middle of the night to see if there is any update to be acted upon. Maybe a new thing to catch up on or a bounty to be claimed, a private message has been replied or a news has just broke among other things one can think of. The forum is actually a place to be. I wish I could be been addicted earlier than this.
384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tipping homeless people with Bitcoin paper wallets on: June 28, 2017, 12:11:51 PM
ok so if a whale hands out Bitcoin paper wallets to homeless people
would they know how to redeem and use the money or hold the bitcoin?
would they learn it?
maybe some of them would become bitcoiners or even programmers and valuable to the ecosystem

who wants to join me doing this

we need people in the usa, where there are the most homeless people on the planet, who are whales and want to help the cause handing out some paper wallets on a daily basis

Instead of handing over paper wallets to an homeless man who would probably use it to wrap weed to smoke or use it for something less worth the value, why not just convert the bitcoin into cash and donate to his life to make it more meaningful. Even majority of people here if given paper wallet will still have to carry out some readings to know how to go about it not to talk of those individuals who would probably be hearing it for the first time and the stress of redemption might even be too stressful on them.
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DCORP Crowdsale - Democratizing Venture Capitalism on: June 27, 2017, 09:19:14 PM
2 days until the end of ICO , and 12500+ ETH are raised with 6 million DRP raised wow i think its a huge success from dcorp and devs ..  this derivatives thing is best and whats cryptos need right now , it will add some better and wider knowledge about new inovation that DCORP bring to us , hope its last long project
This is something everybody needs to be proud of and also I am happy to be part of this. Hopefully what next is for the developers to ensure that this attains its proposed potential and bring home the intended return on investment to the investors who trusted this project with their hard earned resources.
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel about local crypto-currencies? on: June 27, 2017, 09:01:09 PM
Do they make sense?
Israeli blockchain start-up Colu launched a new e-currency in East London for the local economy, according to Crowdfundinsider.

I see it as an exercise in futility and the reason is simple. Anybody coming into crypo currency comes for bitcoin and when they are able to understand that its because of the control government has not been able to get is what necessitates their own crypto currency, there are no two ways than to dump it. And for those who are already involved would not drop the freedom bitcoin gives for anything else.
387  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC a chance to change the deadlock of 1% rich peple holding FIAT capital on: June 27, 2017, 07:48:34 PM
I think, there is another big thing why BTC is so treated hostile. Banks have their own interest. But many rich people are very addicted to FIAT connotations and the structure of cryptocurrency may change the general structure of possession.
This may build a thesis that:
- crypto currencies are pumped to give a strike in a moment to 'alienate the fashion' to BTC and show how 'BTC and crypto' is bad for the economic system
- or they are locking into positions to make is centralized through smooth control of the course of crypto
- or it is just a sheep run pump, as it goes.

I would like to open a discussion on that. What do you think?

Your point of view is one way to look at it but on the other hand, it worthy to note that the issue of bitcoin prices is actually dependent of the majority moving with the swings in terms of prices. Its possible we might not be able to separate the human artificial factor in the determination of prices, but at the same time, the majority give them the power to do so by falling in line as a result of panic buying or selling. But if we are to maintain our position, we then realize that the forces are just too minute to determine our direction.
388  Economy / Economics / Re: Long term argument for bitcoin on: June 27, 2017, 04:30:30 PM
Hello,

Most of you are confident with the long term for Bitcoin. Yet some altcoins has the same features so why are you so confident about bitcoin and not about litecoin instead?

I compared them and approximatevily the same assets!
The only difference is that bitcoin was the first, is it that important?

In Olympics the difference between the first and the second is just a matter of seconds and nothing more but someone will be made reference to than others which is what is happening here and come to think of it, they may share similar characteristics or even came at the same time but the truth need to be said that bitcoin has gone ahead of LTC in all ways which we cannot begin to list and this is something that give basis and ground to btc which makes the trust in it on the increasing side compared to LTC.
389  Economy / Economics / Re: Recession fears as bankers warn next global crash could arrive with a vengeance on: June 27, 2017, 02:36:07 PM
People will always create problem for others and the issus of wealth going somewhere unknown does not arise because its more like a zero-sum game where someone loss is another person gain which has happened in the past that the mega rich people continue getting richer while the ones that wants to join in, crashed in between. The world economy has crashed before and people still survives and sometimes I wonder if its not a figment of our own imaginations.
390  Economy / Economics / Re: In event of your death on: June 27, 2017, 06:41:03 AM
I am wondering what provisions have you all made in case you die before cashing out your bitcoins? I am single, live alone and both my parents are deceased. My siblings dont care about any of this, however I would like my nieces and nephews to get some of my profits but they are still very young right now. I dont trust lawyers to give them my private keys. I am wondering, what can I do?

Right now, the best is just to stop thinking about the eventuality of death and start living life to the fullest whether we like it or not, death will come at its time and there won't be anything to do to stop it while some come with notice in other to put the house in order, other comes without any notification. For me, I plan to live off my investment to the extent I can afford at the moment and those coming afterwards will always survive on their own.
391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Bitcoin on: June 26, 2017, 08:43:23 PM
This is the question to all who have at least one bitcoin and did not bought it. How long did it actually took you to own one bitcoin?
Only to people who accumulate bitcoin with either services, or earn through signature campaigns etc.
Asking because I'm interested in knowing the average time to make one bitcoin?
As a senior member of the forum, if you don't have any skill to offer in other to increase your earnings, then  you might have to stay for a while before reaching that mark but with the right set of skills, and with a heart backed with trust and integrity, I am sure that amount is something that can be surmounted easily with another objective set without limitations.
392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin sucks! on: June 26, 2017, 08:10:39 PM
Our experiment with BTC is over. We accepted BTC in 2 of our on-line stores and after losing hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars we are removing BTC acceptance. Stores were selling card access products and chip cards.
Simply by the time somebody buys something and gets confirmed and we manage to exchange BTC at Canadian Kraken we are at loss. So goodbye Bitcoin, going back to PayPal and credit cards only.
The challenge might be enormous now but it won't be long which your business should be one of the trailblazers when the challenges have gone but outrightly stopping it might not be the best option. You should have just reduce the acceptance of the coin in other to reduce the stress of conversion and if possible look for a supplier who accepts bitcoin so you will avoid the stress of converting before using to buy your supplies.
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: On this week Ethereum down almost 30% on: June 26, 2017, 07:17:13 PM
What is the main reason behind. why Ethereum is down day by day what is the main reason
Some thing just happen anybody in the bitcoin or even the crypto world generally will understands that finding a reason for every events is purely a waste of time because it won't matter as the market have the ability to either go high or low at any time it so pleases without anybody knowing the real reason but the spiral effect we see is the panic sellers who have not been wise enough to hold on for a while before disposing the little they have.
394  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you know when you are in profit? USD or Satoshi? on: June 26, 2017, 03:55:23 PM
For me I measure based on dollars because I mostly hold for a specific number of days and because I hold in btc, then the value of my 0.01btc is always constant since I don't keep where I get interest on deposit but the relative value on it in USD shows whether I am losing or not that my 0.01btc is no longer 25$ but now 32$ depending on the direction of price.
395  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you trade at multiple exchanges? on: June 26, 2017, 02:10:13 PM
I have account on multiple exchanges and its always due to when the need arises for such in the sense that it's due to necessity maybe someone wants to transfer some coin to me and I needed to submit an address from a particular exchange then I open and from there I started using it but for arbitrage, I have not been able to go for it due to similarities inlrice quoted and the ones with high margin are really dependent on verification in which document they ask is what I cannot afford.
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Bitcoin ever replace conventional money? on: June 26, 2017, 12:58:41 PM
Like others have rightly expressed their opinions, I don't see bitcoin replacing conventional currencies not now not in the future even if government should legalize and recognise the currency there won't be wishing away conventional currencies because that's individual country's identity which I am not sure a reasonable government will want to eradicate for bitcoin in other to be uniform and in addition to the concern of how they will be able to get their own share in terms of taxes and levies.
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you keeping your crypto records? on: June 26, 2017, 07:21:27 AM
It occurred to me that if I wanted to get rid of everything I'd be liable for capital gains and if The Man wanted to know the origins of those funds I'd better get my house in order as it's rather convoluted.

To those ends I've dug out all the old private keys I could find, noted forum posts for giveaways and taken screenshots of exchange histories to show to my tormentors.

Say if something like Byteball really did end up ginormous that's a lot of money for nothing coming from a mystery origin unless you have some sort of paper trail such as your forum posts or wallet backup.

Are many people here doing the same thing? It may pay off a long way down the line so it's worth a few hours of notation and tucking those things away.

You doing this because of the way your country's law is structured as it relates to crypto currencies. In my own case here when it comes to capital gains shares are exempted which we can say bitcoin falls under the same category and aside that our laws does not even cover crypto currencies which means we are enjoying our tax free income until when the people saddled with the responsibilities of law making wake up and make such laws.
398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to feel dumb and smart at the same time. on: June 26, 2017, 06:44:28 AM
So I'm back. You might not recognize this account , but that is because i made only a few posts around 2011. I was there at basically the beginning. I could be rich right now.. That's an odd thought! I was there, but i didn't put the time or effort in. Now im back, Bitcoin is higher than i ever thought it'd be, and i'm trading on exchanges. Live and learn. I feel dumb for not staying in, but smart for getting back in. What were you doing Bitcoin wise in 2011? Did you even know about Bitcoin?
2011, I didn't know about bitcoin and busy about something else but I still feel dumb for not finding out about it but not as much as you who knew the information but left. Now this time, I am feeling so smart compared to my peers around here who are still not taking it serious either by wish or thinking and few years down the line, they would probably be blaming themselves and wished they are smarter.
399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you plan to pass on your bitcoin inhertance on: June 25, 2017, 08:58:27 AM
Lets face it HBB (hit by a bus) can happen any time

what is you mechanism or plan to inherent you BTC to your loved ones?

particularly if they are not IT literate.

In my view A person could easily loose your coins in so many ways if you do not understand what you are doing.

I agree that one should plan for uncertainty because it does not give notice of its happening do for me, not necessarily hit by a bus but any other time what I do just make sure someone I trusted is already aware of what I do to the fullest and the only thing the person does not know is just my passwords and that is the only thing left which I am planning to write somewhere the only person that can have access to it is that same person and with that I am good to go.
400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin started taking capsule hotels in Japan on: June 24, 2017, 08:07:06 PM
As the Japanese government acknowledged Bitcoin, more companies in the country are beginning to accept crypto currency as payment. Among them there are several popular Japanese capsule hotels.
Based in Tokyo, the Anshin Oyado Hotel, run by the Sanza Group, became the first capsule hotel hosting Bitcoin

This is no news as what is expected to happen and the same thing will happen if other government should accept bitcoin. Most companies have the interest of accepting that but not all are bold enough to stand on the other side of the law because in business, if its not documented, it does not exist and that exactly what is going on here and the moment the government takes a stand, others will follow it could be mild but eventually they will fall in line.
