3801  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: v9 control board to s11 s15 t15 s17 t17 on: June 24, 2020, 08:39:50 PM
And the control board of Miner V9 is easily downgraded to the S11 or S17
The only problem is:
In the Miner V9 board, we do not have the power output to control apw8 and apw9 powers
If we can find it
The problem is solved

I don't pretend to know all the technical aspects of this, i also agree that with physical modification you will likely get any control board to run any hashboard, but the fact that bitmain with all the money and engineers did not take the route  - simply tells me that the cost of doing so is ridiculously high, mind you that bitmain probably have a ton of those old control boards and have access to all the components at a much cheaper price than all of us, labor in china makes such a thing even more justifiable but they didn't do it, which only leads to one conclusion.
3802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sending USDT to BTC address on: June 24, 2020, 09:48:31 AM
They don't have to help you. If they would, that would be because of a goodwill.

I believe that is more of an obligation, any decent exchange would help you recover your funds in such situations, but what OP did is a bit complicated and his "domestic" exchange might not have enough knowledge on how to deal with this case.

OP has most likey sent usdt omni layer token which is actually built on Bitcoin ( the reason why binance allowed the trasnaction in the first place), to move those funds the exchange needs to send bitcoin to the same address as later on it will be used as fees to transact the usdt token, i don't know the exact procedure but i believe it is a bit more than simply importing the private keys of a btc address in a usdt wallet, so unless the exchange is willing to cooperate,  those tokens are lost forever.
3803  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Two Antminer S17 problems on: June 23, 2020, 09:58:27 PM
Thanks for all the help on my problems.  I took the boards out and pushed in the heatsinks etc.  Worked beautifully!  All working at 100% now.

I believe you learned this trick from me  Grin, you are welcome Cheesy, just kidding, I am glad that more and more people are getting to prove that what most people think of as a stupid way of fixing things actually works sometimes, I got laughed at by someone about this trick and most people think it's so stupid they won't even try it, on the other hand, many people reported great results with simple physical pressure applied on the heatsinks, the bad news, of course, they won't last for too long, but you can always try to revive them using the same method until there is no more hope.
3804  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: antminer s11 has low hashrate on: June 23, 2020, 09:30:31 PM
Read the file of nand ic 29f2g08abea from another s11 miner 7007 control boards with tnm5000 universal programmer
And write it to my miner ic flash....
What do you think??

This is beyond my understanding, I would suggest you contact thierry4wd or taserz those two guys are trusted and know about this subject more than most of us.

Or, you could send bitmian an email and ask them for the SD recovery files.
3805  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: antminer s11 has low hashrate on: June 23, 2020, 12:34:11 AM
It's pretty strange that the version on your miner shows Mar 2019 while the latest S11 firmware is  "S11-all-user-201908011639-sig.tar.gz" , are you sure you flashed the latest firmware of S11?

Anyway, this is what the latest firmware has

Quote
1. Enhance anti-virus capability
2. S11 user firmware, support both 7007 and 7010 control board
3. Secure firmware with signature, SSH port is closed
4. Few of the miner probably have lower hashrate in low temperature environment

Number 2 means, you won't be able to downgrade it, and number 4 kind of explains why you having the lower hash rate issue, based on the chips' temperature you have (which I envy by the way) your gear runs pretty cool and that could be the reason why your hash rate dropped, in return, your S11 now consumes a bit less power, you could try to set fixed fan speed at very low rpm ONLY to test if you are getting a better hashrate, don't run them constantly on low rpm.
3806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can someone help confirm this? on: June 22, 2020, 11:22:34 PM
The mempool is pretty congested now,  today is the largest (in size) the mempool has been this month so be patient...

I accelerated your transaction through antpool "prioritiseTransaction" free service, no guarantees whatsoever, but let's see how it goes, time of acceleration is 11:20 PM GMT.

3807  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: June 22, 2020, 11:00:59 PM
Looks like we are going to have a small relief in difficulty.

Current Pace:   96.0957%  (863 / 898.06 expected, 35.06 behind)
Current Difficulty:   15784744305477.41
Next Difficulty:   between 15171030193302 and 15366455052471
Next Difficulty Change:   between -3.8880% and -2.6500%

I don't think we will have any major drops anymore, but not going up in itself is overall good for us miners, what is considered to be bad news coming in from Bitmain seems like good news to everyone else who doesn't have a pending order from Bitmain, Zhan who now controls the supply warehouses of Bitmain has paused all shipping operations, because all payments are controlled by Jihan Wu, so the former has the gears in control and the latter has ownership of funds, and we all know how complicated the Chinese law is, so it might be a good while before Bitmain ships anything which would help with sustaining difficulty adjustments with either small drops or flat numbers for a few coming adjustments.

3809  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Has anyone been using whatsminer 5.0.2 to control gear. on: June 22, 2020, 06:02:32 PM
Wait until you see the firmware in the works with these. These puppies got some power.

I want to be the first one to hear the good news "exclusively".  Grin

Phill, would you explain what do you mean by "remote" does the whatsminer 5.0.2 tool give you the ability to access your gears outside of the local network, or is just just a local monitoring tool?

I am a newbie when it comes to non-bitmain mining gears, sadly for the past couple years I have been buying like 99% Bitmain gears, and I have decided to put an end to this, the plan is to slowly accumulate M21s while getting rid of all (or most) Bitmain gears, if we could get a better power/hashrate options on those gears - that will be a game-changer.
3810  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Two Antminer S17 problems on: June 22, 2020, 04:38:37 PM
Also, I think T17 are different from S17 and S17 Pro, but I am not sure about this either.

I am pretty sure that T17,S17 ad S17 pro can use the same recovery files, you can take my words for it, as far as the E and + versions of both S17 and T17 I am not 100% certain of how they differ in terms of firmware, the reason why I initially thought that all the E and + versions could use the same the recovery files is because when you order a new control board from Bitmain labeled with (S17+,T17+,T17e,S17e) it comes with the MP Test firmware, and then whichever firmware you flash on it, it will accept it, Bitmain doesn't know which mining gear out of those 4 you have, and the recovery files all have the MP test firmware so I still think it will work, unless someone trusted like yourself, phill, thierry4wd or taserz tell me that they have tried E files on + files or vice versa and it didn't work.

3813  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Miners 500-1000 Watts on: June 21, 2020, 11:08:10 PM
There are many options of how you could get a miner to run at below 1000 Watts, but it all comes down to once's personal needs, you could simply buy an S9 and run 2018 firmware with multi-setting options, at -3TH you will be below the 1kw mark without having to use any custom firmware, but that gear won't be efficient and will probably be losing money if you don't have free power, you could also buy an S19 pro and use a single board on low settings ( not sure if they have it, but I suppose they do) and you will end up about 30th at below 1000w as opposed to 8-9th on the S9, but that will cost you an arm and a leg, so it really depends on what you are trying to do here.

But if i had to answer your question without going into many details and assuming you actually want to make a profit, I would say NO , there aren't any 500-1000Watts miners that can make you any money and actually have a possibility to ROI if you don't have free power.

S17 Pro controller in an S9 frame.

How do you plan on getting an s17 pro board to fit in an S9 frame?

ه
Quote

3815  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Two Antminer S17 problems on: June 21, 2020, 06:33:44 PM
I've downloaded those files, and there are 3 sets.  My miner is an S17-53T so I'm not sure which of these to use, as they don't match the filename precisely?

TH rating doesn't matter, for S17 you must use SD-X17, of course you need to unzip it and copy the content inside it, follow the instructions on bitmain's website.

SD_S17+  (not sure if it is for T17+ too).

Possible, but I have seen a T17+ recovery files that are different from the S17+.

And T17  (not sure if it is for T17+ too).

absolutely not, the T17 and T17+ use a completely different control board, since the recovery firmware is MP_test which you later need to flash to the appropriate firmware I think that

S17e,T17e,S17+, and T17+ > could use the same files.
T17, S17, and S17 pro > could use the same files.
3816  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Two Antminer S17 problems on: June 20, 2020, 11:08:23 PM
This may well be another stupid question, but I downloaded what I think is the firmware for the S17 and put it on a microSD card.  I put it in and switched it on, but all I get is the two lights steadily on.

Which is the right one to flash the firmware?  Maybe I'm using the wrong one.  The instructions on the Bitmain site are not helpful.

That's because you are doing it wrong, you don't put a flashable firmware on an Sdcard and expect it to work! you need the special recovery files on that Sdcard which you probably don't have, how do I know you don't have it? simply because it's not available for download on Bitmain's website.

You can download the recovery files from this link thanks to taserz for uploading them, follow the guide from bitmain, it's rather simple, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

you may need to pull the controller and shift some jumpers.

The 17 series have no jumper on them, the moment you put in an Sdcard it starts to boot from the Sdcard, the 17 series are nothing like those T9 and S9 , in fact, even the S9e and S9k are different and don't have the jumper.
3817  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T9+ Low hashrate problem!!! on: June 20, 2020, 07:03:22 PM
Edit the post and use the code function to paste the kernel log, this post looks messy.

Anway, the answer is here

Code:
driver-btm-c5.c:11856:T9_18_getASICnum: T9+ try get asic num for the 1 time
driver-btm-c5.c:11867:T9_18_getASICnum: Chain[J2] has 0 asic
driver-btm-c5.c:11856:T9_18_getASICnum: T9+ try get asic num for the 2 time

J2 (Usually the middle board) is toasted, while this kernel log tells you where the problem is, it's not very accurate, it doesn't really mean that all chips on this chain are gone, it could be a single chip which causes the whole chain to disappear that's because of how these hash boards are designed, it could also be a power module, or any other component, troubleshooting and fixing this kind of an issue will cost you more than what the board actually worth, so usually the best way to deal with this is by sending it to the trash.

There is however a small possibility that the PSU is faulty and it can't power all boards, to troubleshoot this, disconnect the other chains, keep chain 2 only, use a different ribbon and 6pin cables on chain 2 then power on, if the same issue appears then the board is dead but, if something changes then it's either a bad PSU or a ribbon cable.
3818  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 256 blocks solved! on: June 20, 2020, 04:42:25 PM
oh my dear friend thank you so much for your nice reply.my mean of used or unused addresses for solo mining was not that i take a used address from an exchange or else.my mean was this do i have forced to use an address that i have employed it before for sending bitcoins to other people or i have employed it to transfering bitcoins between my Coinimi and Jaxx and my ledger nano or...(real transaction or fake transaction to making an authentic, reliable, personal and valid used address)?
thank you

Quote
thank you for the reply dear.i dont have a core wallet on my pc,i have only a ledger nano x.also i dont have a coinbase account.i used number of btc addresses from some android wallet apps like Coinomi or Jaxx and two addresses from ledger nano(segwit, legacy and native segwit).
does hardware core wallet is necessary for solo mining or it is only necessary for having full control on probable rewards of hitting a block?

We got a few things mixed together here, to make it super clear, the mining pool (cksolo or any other pool) does NOT care about where does the bitcoin address come from, they don't care if you used it before or not, they don't even care if you own it or not, if it's structurally valid - it works and the mining rewards are sent to that address, what happened before and what could happen after that is non of the pool's concern.

As far as YOU (or anyone who wants to mine or own bitcoin) are concerned, you want to always

1- Use an address which you own the private keys for, it doesn't have to be generated from a hardware wallet, although hardware wallets like Ledger nano and Trezor are far more secured than most other wallet types, so if you have the option to use a hardware wallet address for solo mining, you should go for it.

2- For security and privacy purposes it's better to use a NEW address that you have not used before.

3819  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Warning!! Don't flash June 2020 bitmain firmware on: June 20, 2020, 04:06:01 PM
I received this message on telegram from a chinese reseller

Attention users of official Bitmain firmware! If you upgrade your s17 + / T17 + to the firmware from 2020-06-18. You can no longer use the SD card. Bitmain has accidentally or intentionally disabled this feature.

I don't know the initial source and I have not verified the matter personally but I trust grace who forwarded this message.

So far this only mentions the + versions, but I would be careful with all other 17 series until things are in the clear.
3820  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Two Antminer S17 problems on: June 19, 2020, 10:39:27 PM
Could be a network issue, try a different ethernet cable, and also reset the miner and flash the latest firmware, you should also include the kernel for this miner.

I suppose the kernel log is for this miner, judging by the temp sensor error on chain 0

Code:
1970-01-01 00:17:11 temperature.c:695:get_temp_info: read temp sensor failed: chain = 0, sensor = 0, chip = 55, reg = 1
1970-01-01 00:17:30 temperature.c:695:get_temp_info: read temp sensor failed: chain = 0, sensor = 1, chip = 40, reg = 1
1970-01-01 00:17:50 temperature.c:695:get_temp_info: read temp sensor failed: chain = 0, sensor = 2, chip = 180, reg = 1
1970-01-01 00:17:57 temperature.c:695:get_temp_info: read temp sensor failed: chain = 0, sensor = 3, chip = 195, reg = 0

Each hashboard has 4 PCB sensors labeled 0,1,2,3, after a lot of research, help, and testing we have come to realize that this issue is not caused by the temp sensors themselves but rather bad soldering on one or more of the heatsinks/chips, to fix this you will need to firstly identify the bad chip/heatsink by taking the board out and physically inspect it if there are no signs of anything you will need to use a multimeter like a "fluke" or buy a fixture tool to know which chip/heatsink needs soldering, and then, of course, you will need to have the right sets of tools and skills.

When the miner fails to sense pcb temps from that board, after a certain time it will simply disable it and hash with the two other boards, there is a tiny little chance that by flashing another firmware this board might come back to life, give it a shot but if it doesn't work, you probably want to disconnect it as it does slow the start-up process, also follow the topic posted above by popojeff for more details.
