3801  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does Huobi Global, KuCoin and Gate.io require KYC? on: February 27, 2022, 08:25:52 PM
To those of you with no issue with kucoin and trading and withdrawing without KYC... are you US citizen or using it from the US though?
No issues like that whatsoever when it comes to Kucoin (at least not yet) and I am from Europe, Croatia. Regarding Gate, they do ask for KYC so that's not a good option for you then. Another good option might be FTX as its reputable exchange (they are kinds what Binance used to be couple of years ago) but the only problem is low withdrawal limit of only 2000 USD per day. 3802  Economy / Reputation / Re: Police Indo - Suspected farm account on: February 27, 2022, 08:16:08 PM
Yeah I know that, but my point about this thread is not about Police Indo, but any accounts with a same behavior. I just think it's odds someone can know he got accepted or not while he doesn't logged with his account.
I understand, but when you see some account that has suspicious behavior (at least from your POV), best thing that you can do is to dig a little bit deeper like @Timelord2067 did as more often than not you will find some kind of forum rules abuse, as we have seen from this case.

What about you? Are you read the forum post without log in while you have an account? Personally I always log into my account first because there's some advantages e.g. the brightness, knowing the opened/new thread etc.
Yeah why not, if I am not on the device/connection that I think is safe enough ill rather just stay logged out. Prior to registering here I was just passively reading for a couple of months so I am not stranger to lurking around.
3803  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: February 27, 2022, 07:51:42 PM
I am again kinda late with this overview, but better late than never. All charts and table are made using data from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja Ninjastic.space.Thanks guys fro your awesome tools!

Communities marked with * (Pakistan, Nigerian, Bangladesh) don't have their own local boards.

Post activity per local board during January 2022

During January 2022 19539 posts were made, which is a bit lower than December 2021 during which 20817 posts were written. No big change at the top: Russian board by far  the most active one as usual, while both German and Turkish board kept their positions, being 2nd and the 3rd most active board.

Not many boards experienced increase in post count, with basically only Indonesian board having decent growth compared to December ( from 937 to 1211 which is approximately 30% increase). When it comes to boards that experienced  decrease, only Bangladesh sticks out with almost 60% decrease. Few others with a noticeable loss are Italian that had ~20% loss compared to previous month (from 985 to 755), and eventually Russian board with ~13%  decrease while other boards were mostly below 10% decrease.

Once again kudos to Nigerian and Pakistan communities for keeping a respectable activity despite not having own local board. Bangladesh is still decently active but their numbers went down a lot compared to previous months and it might affect their chances of getting local board.

Merit shared per local board during January 2022

When it comes to merit shared in the above mentioned period, there was an increase: from 6633 in December to 7070 during January 2022 which is not bad at all considering that January was less active, post wise.

No changes at the top compared to December 2022: Russian is far ahead the others as usual (which is not a surprise given their post count), followed by German, Turkish and Italian while this time Indonesian board finished at the 5th spot.

When it comes to biggest gainers, Dutch board really sticks out as during December 2021 they didn't have any merits shared while in the last month that number went up to 52.  Another board with big increase is Indonesian as they had only 243 merits shared, while during last month that number went up to 598 which is more than a double. Few other boards went significantly up: Arabic, from 113 to 199 which is more in line with their usual numbers while Portuguese wasn't bad either, with close to 40% increase. Considering their activity I think that they have a lot of room for increase.

When it comes to decrease, Pilipinas board sticks out with ~35% decrease (from 29 to 19, followed by Spanish board that had ~30% less merit shared compared to previous period while no other decently active board didn't have any significant loss in the amount of merit shared. I really have no idea what's happening with Pilipinas board as considering their activity their merit numbers should be much higher and somehow I doubt that post quality there is so low.

Merit senders and receivers per local board during January 2022

Straightforward chart that pretty much follows the amount of merit shared, with few odd cases like previously mentioned Pilipinas board.

Merit/Post ratio per local board for January 2022

Dutch board is kinda messing this chart with 4.3 merit/post ratio, due 52 merits shared while having only 12 posts written but thanks to 12 month average we can see that their real numbers are way more normal. These kind of anomalies can happen with boards that are not too active as all you need is a couple of good posts to affect the ratio drastically. As we can see, blue color still dominates meaning we are still feeling the effect of the increased amount of merit sources.

The most active members per local board during January 2022

And in the end, lost of those responsible for keeping their boards alive. joker_josue is once again the most active member across all local boards with 279 posts, beating last month's top poster willi9974 who has 240 posts. Keep it up guys!

3804  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: February 26, 2022, 05:27:00 PM
The problem was, that other users voting saw this as an opportunity that they could abuse it, which not only artifically increased the votes for certain users, but it also could have potentially reduced the votes for other users in the running if that user was going to vote anyway.
Thing is, you didn't have to be genius to predict what will all this vote-meriting lead to. Just some common sense, but as we can see its not so common.

I agreed to this offer, but not as a merit source, because I think that these posts are not worth spending on them merit, which gave me theymos for valuable posts.
Oh, so you agree that these posts are not merit worthy, yet you are meriting them nevertheless. And yeah, merit that you earn via other members is not any less worthy than the ones you are getting as a merit source.

Somehow, at the beginning of this contest, icopress wrote to me that I should not support only those who vote for me, but if I support, then everyone
Once again you prove that your moral compass is completely off, if you have any. You have to be told what is right and wrong, and even several times before you get it, this is just another example of it.

3807  Other / Meta / Re: Fluent with multiple languages, can i join multiple local boards? on: February 25, 2022, 05:16:56 PM
From your perspective is it encouraging for someone to pertake in two different local boards ?
Yeah why not, as long as you can use that language at the reasonable level.

because it's has the ability of multilingual language, if we accept such act, it will give room to others and especially offsprings of this community will be using translator to engage into conversation with other local boards.
If we accept? Its' already accepted, there is no such rule against being active in other local boards.

This clearly states that you are not allowed to use any automated tools to post on local board. By the way, automated translator is dangerous as it can totally change the meaning of a sentence.
I don't think that rule is strictly enforced when it comes to occasional post in another local board (or maybe people just don't report them as often).  I personally did it several times and probably some of the others than can be found in that list DdmrDdmr shared. My guess is that rule is aimed more at those who use automatic tool to translate various announcements and then spam them across other local boards.

3809  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆 2022 OSCARS - Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: February 24, 2022, 05:06:56 PM
You got to be a good movie critic to learn who to put your money on. Oscar date is far yet so there maybe time to watch those movies or perhaps just go with whats been talked on celebrity forums and find out of their hints.
Yeah, I think it helps with betting if you watch the nominated movies, but you just have to differentiate what you personally think is the best movie, and which one you would like to win, and sometimes those two are the same thing.

What's also important is to avoid betting on certain Oscar  category if odds are too low. For example, in the last year's Oscar thread I said that 1.08 on Chadwick Boseman winning best actor award is a bad bet. And remember what happened? He lost and Anthony Hopkins won the award, and I must say it was a well deserved win as he was my favorite as well.

I wouldn't bet on Chadwick Boseman winning the Oscar not because I don't think that he will win it (on the contrary, seems like he is obviously the the favorite) but because odds given are way too low. With odds ranging from 1.05-1.08 you would have to bet a lot to get any decent return, and I think that risk/reward ratio in this case ain't good at all, therefore making it a bad bet.

If odds were let's say 1.3-1.4, then I would certainly think about taking that bet, but with 1.08? No chance! I generally avoid such a low odds, no matter what I am betting on. Too many times lost while taking sub 1.1 odds not to learn the lesson.

Facebook will be a good source of info as there are good discussions of whos going to win which awards. From what I observe, the best director award also wins the best pictures, best actor and some. You agree?
More often than not (last 2 years) director of movie that wins best Picture Award also wins the one for directing, but that's not the rule. For example, few years ago Green Book won Best Picture award while Peter Farrelly didn't win an Oscar for directing (that went to Cuaron for Roma which was for me the best movie that year).
3810  Other / Meta / Re: When NFT board? on: February 24, 2022, 09:38:22 AM

I think NFTs are here to stay, same as the metaverse. I agree we should have a child board under the alt sections for Metaverse/ nfts.
While I agree that NFTs and metaverse are here to stay (like ICOs are still here, but now in form of IDO/IGO/INO/whatever), question is whether altcoin board is so overrun with them that having separate board is needed.

I would say no, and you can see on the screenshot below why there is no need for that. So, from the top 35 topics in Tokens (Altcoins) board, only 6 (I may have missed one or two but doesn't change anything really) were about NFT based projects. Bare in mind that I even sorted them by the last post because situation would be even worse for NFTs if I let it to be sorted by default.

If situation was opposite then you would maybe have some argument that NFTs deserve their own board as they arw drowning everything else, but as we can see that is not happening as of yet, no matter the hype around it outside bitcointalk.

3811  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: February 23, 2022, 06:03:00 PM
You either don't vote for them if you think what they are doing is not right. But that is an injustice in itself.
Since all these votes are highly subjective, I don't think that's injustice at all, to not nominate someone who you think is doing a wrong thing by giving merits in exchange for votes.

Speaking of immoral things, I think it is not at all appropriate to open such a topic in the Meta board at a time when voting is underway, but as I have already written, some will do everything to win.
Well, we know for a long time that he has no shame so this is just business as usual.

I don't think Admin needs to do it: icopress could set a rule that disqualifies anyone who Merits posts in the topic before the deadline passes.
Yes pls. Cheesy
3812  Economy / Reputation / Re: Police Indo - Suspected farm account on: February 23, 2022, 04:42:20 PM
I suspect he have many high accounts participated in several campaign, so he doesn't have times to use his non campaign accounts.
What you provided here is not even worth of opening this thread, let alone tagging someone for something like this. As you aid it yourself, you have nothing against someone joining this forum for the sole purpose of making the money and he is probably doing exactly that.

So try a little bit harder, check the addresses he used (I suggest using https://ninjastic.space/ to check that) and if you find some connections than you can say that its "high likely a farm account", as you claimed. But even that is not worth of a tag unless he abused the rule somehow, either via merit shared, or joining same campaign with more alts.
3813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to hold with ease on: February 23, 2022, 08:20:31 AM
You forgot one of the important steps and that's to uninstall all price tracking apps and to stop checking prices on the regular basis as doing that constantly won't do you any good if you are hodler.

Couple of years ago I did exactly that, removed Blockfolio from my phone and cmc/coingecko tabs from my desktop pc browser and I must say that I feel much better now that I'm not obsessively checking prices xyz times per day, like I used to.

3814  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Become a Legendary on: February 22, 2022, 10:22:24 PM
As a new member, how long do I have to wait to gain the trust of the members of the forum ?
That will more depend on your actions and not on the time spent here.

What kind of posts should I leave to progress faster?
First of all, start posting regularly, and if possible avoid altcoin section (or at least don't make majority of your posts there) as its a cesspool that is been avoided by merit sources. Write about stuff that you know something about, or about stuff that you are interested in. Asking the right question can bring a lot of merit. A lot of newbies don't know that so they plagiarize in order to appear more knowledgeable and get merit that way, while things are much simpler; show genuine interest in crypto and merit will come.

How long does it take to become a Legendary?
Approximately 3 years but speaking from personal experience, less you obsess about it, sooner it will come. I used to think about it a lot while progressing through ranks, but around the time I reached Hero I kinda stopped thinking about it completely so maybe that's why RNG gods (activity amount needed to reach Legendary is not fixed) were on my side as I ranked up relatively fast.
3815  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Citizen Finance [CIFI] - Scammed Bounty Hunters on: February 22, 2022, 10:05:22 PM
Yeah that's it and that's one of the reasons for which I was not able to launch a bounty campaign yet lol. It’s very hard to get such bounty to manage. There are very few managers like that. Julerz is one of them who practice the escrow rewards most afaik.
Yeah, I thought the sane, that yuo have to make a lot of compromise in order to get bounty campaign as if you demand some things in order to protect bounty hunters, they will easily find someone else as there will be 5 of them that won't set any demands. They will get their fee in BTC/stablecoin/whatever and won't give a thought about possibility of bounty hunters working for nothing.

So apart from the project, it is the hard work of the bounty hunters who created the hype for this project due to their marketing, and hence the token gained so much value. The bounty hunters deserve their reward as it was because of them this project became so successful but afterward, the team forgets about the hunters as they do not want to distribute the token because it's so valuable in price. It's a sad ending for the bounty hunters.
C'mon, lets be real here. If bounty hunters really had so much influence at the price, no one would dare to screw you over as if your influence was so big when creating hype, you would be able to  create so much FUD that it would ruin the price. But as we can see from numerous similar cases, altcoin projects are not afraid at all, meaning they know that you can't do anything.

I mean, I feel sorry for those bounty hunters that did solid job and got screwed, but like 99% of them do way below average work (mot likely abuse campaign with alts as well) and have no influence whatsoever on the success of the altcoin project.
3816  Other / Meta / Re: Fluent with multiple languages, can i join multiple local boards? on: February 22, 2022, 09:50:23 PM
from my suggestion i think the best solution or option is to choose a specific or particular you are fluent at as a major as a language, so using this as illustration, someone who's nationality is Russian and base in china and happened to learn Chinese language are not meant to join two different local conversation, because it will be a threat and spam to any of the local section , indecencies that the user is good via both languages. For me it should not be accepted.
This doesn't make any sense whatsoever, why someone who is fluent in 2 languages shouldn't be active in two different boards, how exactly will that be "a threat and spam to any of the local section"? I am dying to hear the further reasoning. Smh...

3817  Economy / Reputation / Re: Shady behavior by DECENT account, managing the DECENT ANN thread, 7yo project. on: February 22, 2022, 09:41:35 PM
I remember a few months ago, I guess they themselves hired spammers to shill in that thread, I remember because I reported a lot of posts from there to moderators.
Yep, they definitely hired shillers to bump their thread as I also reported some of them when I discovered that same group of accounts was working on 6 different ann threads.

Before that he was mostly speaking Chinese language and using machine translation to post in other local boards, than he switched to Russian language in 2019 and 2020.
It's possible that someone could speak both of this languages but I doubt that is the case here.
My conclusion: Account changed hands.
Looking at post history, I don't think that account changed hands. Its true that they most likely used translation tool to post in bunch of  local boards (Indian, Chinese, Hebrew, Portuguese, French and few others ) but it was only done in relation to their project and they only made couple of posts in those languages, for example only 3 in Chinese. Huge majority of posts were written In Russian ( from 2017 to 2020) and in English ( from 2015 to 2021) so I don't see any drastic change of behavior.
3818  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is better on: February 22, 2022, 09:29:06 PM
If you are given two choices to choose from Azbit and coinsbit exchange which one will it be?
I would say no thank you to any of those two.

Azbit is a shitty failed ICO/exchange that even had bounty campaign here. One look at their trust and it's pretty much obvious that you should avoid that exchange. Priot working on Azbit, bunch of their team members were part of Bitsane, well known scam exchange that disappeared with people's money so you can guess  how Azbit will end.

Regarding Coinsbit, it's one of the worst possible exchanges out there, with a long list of shady behaviour and scamming people. Regarding failing KYC there, count yourself lucky that only thing you gave them so far is your personal info and not your money as well.

3819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆 2022 OSCARS - Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: February 22, 2022, 03:53:02 PM
I'm not a fan of learning movies that won an Oscar award so I have no idea Scifi movies can win awards. Similar movies I've watched was Prometheus and its sequel Alien Covenant which I guess can be compared as well.
Yeah why not, there's no genre restriction when it comes to Best Picture, it's just that sci-fi movie never won an Oscar in that category yet, not even arguably the best scifi movie of all time, 2001: A Space Oddysey ( as a matter of fact didn't even get nominated in that category )

Secondly do we really need to have that black and white thing anymore? Does it really make it more "artistic"? I do not know man, that doesn't really sound like artistic deal, it was like that back in the day and no longer looks like the deal anymore, why would people use it.
I don't mind black and white photography at all in Belfast case, on the contrary, I even like it. It's a decent movie by the way, but I don't think that it will the Oscar.

I am not saying Terminator 1 is a bad movie, and it had much lower budget, but T2 is much more than just a story, it's the soundtrack, great music, very good actors, special effects, etc, and you can't deny it won Oscar reward.
Yeah I understand. By the ay, when is the last time you watched T1? If its been many years I suggest to watch it again.

Do you also feel the same way with Ridley Scott’s Alien and James Cameron’s sequel Aliens? I reckon the feelings might be similar if you were younger hehehe. Also, agree! James Cameron movies had more action and they were also advancing the technology and methods in special effects. Titanic is proof of this hehehehehe.
As a matter of fact yes, perfect comparison Cheesy. Back in the early 90s when I saw Alien and Aliens for the first time, I kinda liked the sequel more as it was more action packed but now I have no doubts which movie is better. Alien of course.
