3801  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the possibility Bitcoin will rise before the end of the year ? on: July 21, 2022, 04:11:57 AM
Last year I predicted Bitcoin will rise above the value at the start of the year and I was totally right about it, in April Bitcoin eventually reached a new all-time high price of $64k. Bitcoin added about 72% of its value as it  increased drastically before it eventually started falling back in May till September. I don’t really know how this year is going to turn out now because of the present dip. But I just hope it increases, that’s why I’ve been advising so many people  to hold their Bitcoins and even buy more now cause it will surely rise again.
Holding your coins is without a doubt a good choice if you are thinking about the long term potential of bitcoin, however we also need to be realistic, the chances that bitcoin is going to go up in price before the end of the year are probably not very good, I think that at best we could reach 30,000 dollars and to me that is the best case scenario, I think it is more likely that we are going to remain at current levels for a very long time and maybe even see a further decrease before this year ends.
I agree with you. I can't see good reasons to justify bitcoin price increasing this year yet. The market is pessimistic, investors are making profit with raised interest fiat rates, news coming from crypto environment are totally negative, next having is still 2 years away from us. It's likely it will take 1 or 2 years until we see a strong positive tendency coming in, what isn't totally bad news, though. It's a good opportunity for everyone to invest now thinking on what will happen in few years. For currently buyers there are serious chances they will see x3 profit next bull run.
3802  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Am I doing the right thing on: July 21, 2022, 03:51:59 AM
How can a newbie invest in good altcoins?
Invest in reputable altcoins which have passed through the test of time. You already know ethereum is one of them, but you still don't want to invest on it, because it seems unprofitable due to being an expensive cryptocurrency. Since that is your point of view, you aren't looking for good altcoins to invest, rather you are looking for risky ones which promise huge returns.

Therefore, nobody can say if you are doing the right thing then. Only time will be able to answer your question, and for you there is no option besides taking the risks or going for the safe route which seems uninteresting for you at the present moment (bitcoin and ethereum).
3803  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on How to Manage Gambling Addiction an Open Discussion. on: July 21, 2022, 03:22:59 AM
When we're addicted we know that we're addicted. Majority won't accept this and say they're not. We know whether we are having control over our gambling activities. When we don't have control physically as well as mentally, then it is pure addiction. According to me, a gambling addict can recover only if his mind and his body make a strong decision to stay against the addiction.
Not everyone can realize that we are addicted because we can get the pleasure of playing gambling so our minds will refuse to realize it. Actually, we have control over ourselves but we choose to keep gambling and even we use more money to pursue what we want. Apart from what you say, a gambling addict needs help from someone else who can stand by him during the healing process. In addition, a gambling addict must be able to open himself to tell what has happened to him and be able to accept suggestions from others.
I believe addicted players know they are addicted, unless they suffer from a mental disorder which prevents them from having contact with reality, maybe for short periods of time. But when it's not the case and the person is conscious, they must realize they are problem gamblers, because it's not normal for someone to lose money in a daily, weekly or monthly basis that will be needed for purchasing basic goods or paying for the family's needs later. Third party's help is a great advantage in someone's recovery from addiction, but the initial desire to overcome the challenge must come from the individual himself.
3804  Other / Politics & Society / Re: High inflation is causing GLOBAL protests on: July 21, 2022, 01:35:52 AM
This is a list of countries where demonstrations have been announced. I can assure you that many other countries suffer from manifestations on an almost daily basis and a rise in social demands as a result of policies resulting from currency inflation. Some may think that the Ukrainian war is the reason, but in my opinion, it is the last reason. Whoever watches the situation in Lebanon and many other countries can notice that it is not related to modern factors, and despite this we do not find them on this list.
Yes, and there are also those countries which are in the middle of the process, that is on the stage things aren't out of control yet, so the population isn't concerned about what is going to happen next. Governments have been running ponzi schemes for too long. Sometimes temporary solutions are created to make these schemes continue working (the called economic plans), so government buy more time, but inevitably they can't fix the economical issues of the modern society without touching the ones who are at the top of the pyramid. And actually, governments are never going to do this, because they want the support of the people at the top for their respective parties and plans to continue ruling the country.
3805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: People are not only gambling to win but they are buying entertainment on: July 21, 2022, 01:15:29 AM
Only spend on the amounts which you can afford to lose and dont go beyond your limit.

It's not easy to do. There are no exact figures about the amount we afford to lose. If we set a $100 bankroll and lose it, there's always a high chance that we will another money on our bankroll to continue our gambling session.

Be responsible enough to stop. That's the only solution not to go beyond our limit.
Depending on the gambler and how involved he is with the game it's not easy, but if he doesn't achieve playing only with what he can afford to lose, he is the only one who is going to suffer the consequences for not putting more effort in controlling himself and managing his bakroll properly.

The amount you can afford losing should be a small percentage of your total assets or a percentage of your monthly/weekly income that won't cause any major negative impacts in your life, in case of loss. Moreover, it must be an amount of money you can recover later, without sacrificing your financial life completely (bankruptcy).

By following basic management and self control rules it's possible to gamble responsibly, having entertainment without headaches on long run.

Gambling is part of Chinese culture. It is seen as the right way to test luck, especially on holidays like Chinese New Year, as well as to get rid of bad luck.
link-

I was quite surprised when I read this article for the first time because they gamble not for money or pleasure but because of the culture to test luck.

this does sound funny but what do you do if it turns out that your culture requires you to play gambling?

Chinese culture is fascinating, yeah it may look funny but if you dwell or understand their belief, these are based on practicality and harmony, they rely heavily on luck in their practice of Fengsui and other ancient practices, this is advice to test their luck and not for them to put a lot of money and gamble everything, I'm sure there is a limit to that test and do not want their practitioners to end up as compulsive gamblers.
People may find it important to test their luck in important days to check if they should do something they are in doubt about, like to start an investment, to marry, to travel, to make a great purchase... If the gambling result is positive, it's a signal they should go on, but if the result is negative, it's a warning they should be more careful, give up or simply wait a little longer for a better opportunity.

For some people it can look strange, but when you have come from traditional families or millennial cultures which have been keeping these habits alive for generations, it's just part of the routine and in fact, to not follow them would mean a strange thing for those people.
3807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happens next with the market? on: July 20, 2022, 10:42:30 PM
This is a good moment for investors to cashout profit they need for daily expenses made from recent bitcoin purchases, when bitcoin was near 19,000$-20,000$. But since there is no apparent solid reason for this pump, I believe it's too risky to claim we are entering a new stage in crypto market. We need to understand what is causing these positive fluctuations yet and if they are trustful enough to draw an upside tendency on medium term.

Curiously, it seems Tesla and Elon Musk didn't like the recent pump very much, because as soon as bitcoin started rising, he made sure to infest news' portals announcing Tesla has sold BTC holdings... The intention is clear: to revert the positive tendency. The question is, why?
3808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla: "We have converted approximately 75% of our BTC into fiat currency" on: July 20, 2022, 09:15:28 PM
Couldn't it be just another manipulative movement from Elon Musk to play with market's prices? He expects to be followed by big investors on his steps, so when he announces he is going to sell bitcoins or has sold bitcoins, others will simply do the same, dumping the price even more, therefore Tesla and Musk can buy bitcoin again much cheaper and increase their holdings, wealthy and influence.
3809  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: July 20, 2022, 09:07:18 PM
Weekly payroll to Celsius employees. Considering those are weekly values, it must stay around 16,724,008$ a month.
That is not the expected behavior from a company claiming to be trying to recover itself from bankruptcy and acting at the best interest of the community. The directors and employees are simply milking most money they can from the remaining funds for themselves, while it's still possible, and at same time deluding depositors to believe there is a recovery plan in mind.

Imagine how many small depositors from the total 300,000 ones (with more than 100$ invested) could be paid with those funds already.

Recent updates from the first day hearing (which ocurred last Monday) said there is going to be an option for investors to choose receiving part of their assets back with a haircut, without waiting longer. The other option is a long term recovery which is totally uncertain.
3810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Profitable are Gambling Bots? on: July 18, 2022, 12:36:28 PM
Gambling bots are equivalent to high yield investment products, there is simply no way for them to work in the long term. A company that is consistently having to pay out winnings to a gambler would go bankrupt - the most simple line of logical reasoning you can apply to somebody claiming to have a working program. Any responsible company heavily monitors their player activity and would quickly shut it down. Only someone who is clueless about technology would believe that exploits could run for a long time and even if you got funds into your account it would be heavily scrutinized at the withdrawal stage.
I believe people offering bots services with guaranteed returns are doing this on purpose of scamming naive and greedy gamblers for profit. This includes hypothetical scripts promising to cheat online platforms in order to assure profit to players. In some cases I see gamblers who lost money they shouldn't have wagered at first place selling these 'money making methods' ahead to another gamblers in a desperate attempt to recover every funds they have let gone. That is, to not take responsability for their own acts and prejudice other people to recover their personal losses.
3811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be careful what you wish for, it might happen on: July 17, 2022, 09:59:42 PM
Im sure Im cutting some corners here but the principle stays afloat. Won’t Bitcoin create more disbalance while a lot of people are claiming the opposite.
You have a point, but keep in mind even if bitcoin achieved the desired decentralization (what is almost sure to not happen), the main prejudiced ones would be the politicians and not the poor people of the country. The bigger portion of taxes and fees government charges you is going to maintain the public machine working, that is mainly composed by spots which exist and are created to employ friends and supporters of the political ruling party and by public career employees, which have a lot of benefits and stability when compared to the autonomous workers from the private sector, for an example.

Moreover, a larger portion of public funds are used to pay for politics' campaigns than it's used to pay for basic sanitation in some countries. With or without taxes people in need aren't being assisted anyway. It's not bitcoin and autonomous workers who should carry this burden on their back.
3812  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This clearly damage the gambling. on: July 17, 2022, 06:21:45 PM
That is why you should be careful on what games, leagues and championships you are going to bet. When you can't trust the legitimacy of the match and the professionals involved on it, just ignore it and go for the most famous matches, like european leagues, world cup, continental cups. Since fixed matches have always existed, I think it doesn't damage gambling at all, even because serious sportsbooks will avoid offering these kind of bets at all costs in order to not prejudice their own reputation as betting providers. Oh, the images presented on the video are so mediocre. I feel sad for those players who accepted doing that kind of dirty job...

Can't believe that some bettors really betting on a trash league like that shared by OP? It's impossible for me to think that it's the first time that a rigged game happened in that league. But I'm sure only a few bettors are supporting that league because of their bad reputation.

We don't have real stats anyway that's why we can just give our own feedback.

Ban those players, they are ruining their country honestly.
Since it happened in Nigeria, for a moment I thought it was a 'Nollywood' scene, instead of an official soccer match. The player faking the kick was acting at his best!

Although some reports said players were just protesting against an unfair result, possibly due to the referee's decisions, and that is why they refused to play the penalties correctly. Anyway, in such an unstable league where you can't trust the referee, players and organizers the most advised thing to do is to avoid, without any doubts.

Here in our country there are also many suspicious decisions made by referees which revolt the fans and sometimes create physical conflicts after the matches, but players never play like we have seen on the video in order to protest. Even prejudiced by the referee, they do their best to revert the situation in field till the end of the game.
3813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why is bitcoin price important? on: July 17, 2022, 04:20:35 AM
Price is important, because there are people who see bitcoin as a tool to protect their money against inflation or any other kind of centralized parties' interventions.
just because people see it in that way doesn't mean that's what it was originally meant to be. and thus that doesn't mean that's what its purpose is. the danger of trying to assign some purpose to something that it was not originally meant to be well you do that at your own risk. as long as people understand that then I guess they can use bitcoin however they want to.
And just because something wasn't originally meant to be, it doesn't mean it can't be important for people for that reason... You asked why bitcoin price is important and not what bitcoin original purpose is.

Quote
If bitcoin didn't have a decent value and growing potential on long run, people wouldn't feel incentivized to hold it and worse, they would fear using it, since the uncertainity of losing their money's value on the next second they acquired BTC would be huge.
i'm sure there's people that prefer not to hold bitcoin since its price fluctuates and they don't want that type of exposure.
Yes, there are different kinds of bitcoin adopters' profiles.

Price is important, profit is important. That is what moves a healthy capitalist society, since it's disponible and accessible for everyone.
Price may be important to people but whats even more important is if bitcoin has a useful purpose other than just "hodling" and selling it when the price gets high. Because if that's all it is, theres hundreds of stocks in the stock market you can do that with and those are companies that have actual products/services. Buy Amazon in the late 1990s for example. If all you care about is making profit. And having a higher price.
I think that is a very personal matter, and each person has the right to praise bitcoin's characteristics they most like and which of them are more useful for them on their individuality. I prefer to not point the finger to what people should like, dislike or ignore regards bitcoin.
3814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why is bitcoin price important? on: July 16, 2022, 08:22:38 PM

Moreover, with a priceless bitcoin, what could be the reason for miners to keep running their operations, and consequently maintaining the network smooth and functional?

Price is important, profit is important. That is what moves a healthy capitalist society, since it's disponible and accessible for everyone.

Most sectors were prejudiced by covid-19 pandemic, but it's undeniable virtual and crypto gambling ones have been growing meanwhile, as it has been already presented on this forum several times in different threads. Somehow the virus boosted gambling activity and made it more present in people's lives in different countries and cultures. Thinking on online gambling before and after the pandemic, the difference is pretty clear in every media vehicles. Now I see there is no turnback. Online gambling is here to stay and that is the first icon coming to my mind when I hear the catchphrase introduced by OP: The New Era for Betting.
3817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin recover even if it fell to one dollar? on: July 15, 2022, 07:28:26 PM
Bitcoin going to 1$ would be a very bad signal, meaning it would be finished. But I guess bitcoin reaching to some thousands of dollars price range, like it did on the previous crash in 2018, is recoverable once the market's tendency changes upside. In fact, many predicted a deeper correction after the recent ATH last year, that thankfully didn't happen.

So I think we are in total advantage with bitcoin, much above the expectations, despite we are indeed in a bearish market we don't know exactly for how long it's going to last yet.
3818  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Fengshui on: July 15, 2022, 05:50:38 PM
How about you? Do you have Fengshui practice that you're observing when you are about to play or while playing
I think every gamblers have their own personal preferences for which numbers to pick and which to avoid, based on previous life experiences since their childhood. You mentioned the example of number 4 in chinese culture, that is avoided. While here, we tend to avoid numbers 13 and 666, because they mean bad omens and reminds negative events in our society and imaginary.

Even when I win a bet resulting in one of those numbers I don't feel good about it. It gives me the impression there is something wrong going on.
3819  Economy / Gambling / Re: Freebitco.in - FUN Token Investment Experiment on: July 15, 2022, 04:54:14 PM
Thanks for this amazing report
I just to ask you when last time you withdraw Fun token from Freebitco.in ?
Because for me it was working fine long time but before 2 days i was trying to withdraw 700k FUN and still its pending and i am thinking maybe its because of the database crash which 5 days ago or not related to this crash

Already i sent email to the support team but no response till now
So i just want to check if anyone else face the same issue in last 48 hours
Thanks! Actually I have never withdrawn FUN from freebitco.in. I always buy and sell FUN inside the platform itself.

I feel sorry for the issue you are facing. It's really annoying. You can try sending a personal message to TheQuin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=143168) on this forum. He handles demands from forum members who are freebitco.in's users.
3820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are NFT drops profitable? on: July 15, 2022, 03:43:56 PM
In regards to NFTs, I see most of the comments here geared towards art based NFTs, which are highly speculative, but utility based NFTs, like the ones from MAXX finance or Aloha DeFi, have a different value because they can be used in DeFi applications.

As far as fungibility is concerned, there are now platforms where you can tokenize and trade tokenized NFTs.

I consider NFTs something different than altcoins and I think it will eventually get its own section on this forum, its just a matter of time before investors here start to catch on.

One thing I saw highlighted in the comments was that free NFTs generally have no value vs ones that you have to pay for or there is a minting fee. I'm not sure if this is true but it could be. I think it has something to do with rarity. In the case of the MAXX NFT, I think they are giving away a limited amount and may sell more later when that initial suppy runs out, but I'm not 100% certain on that. It does say the supply is limited though. I think suppy does play a huge part in the value of NFTs on the market. It's like having a one of a kind picasso vs a reprint #55 of 2871617.
It was already discussed in Meta forum section some time ago the possibility of creating a sub-board exclusive for NFTs, but most people were against it and the iniciative didn't get enough support and incentive. It was said NFTs belong to altcoins section, therefore it should be discussed here. And that conversation happened during the hype of NFTs, when they were at top. I imagine now NFTs are down, like the entire crypto market, the iniciative would make even less sense for forum members.

As you said, rarity (plus practical usage) plays a big role in NFTs' value. And considering free NFTs airdrops consist in several copies of each other to be distributed among hundreds of thousands of people, you can be sure it won't have any value on long run... I don't even know if it's possible to earn pennies from it, like through faucets, because who is going to purchase NFTs which are given for free and in large scale?
