3801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I let my last credit/debit card expire this month on: June 04, 2015, 01:48:03 PM
So the latest thing I ran into was that I wanted an app for my phone via Google Play. I could not find any way to pay with Bitcoin. I realized I still have money in my PayPal account so I used that.

I usually like to e-mail companies when I run into something I want to buy that I can't pay for. After searching for the person that would be in charge of such matters I found Ariel Bardin was the one to contact. I shot off an e-mail to ariel.bardin@gmail.com to see if that's the right guy.

One ship to APO company replied to my e-mail and said they were "keeping an eye" on Bitcoin for now. I just don't understand what they would be waiting for. Like something big will change where they need to jump on https://www.gyft.com/buy-gift-cards/?gyftsearch=amazon

I'm still trying to figure out how to get an Amazon fire stick shipped to me.

Have someone you know buy it and ship it to you. I'd do it for you but I have a policy of not involving money in any way with this forum. Maybe you could get one of the mods or admin to ship you one.

Ya, I could just have it sent to my mom's house but I'm trying to figure out something that will work repeatedly. I could order it on Amazon UK (and have it shipped to my German address) but the price is 1.5 times the US price. Which I can cut back down to regular price through purse.io.

That might be your only solution until the Bitcoin economy is a little more mature. The U.S. policy of not allowing simple electronics to be shipped to APO or FPO addresses is stupid. Do they think you're going to make a dirty bomb with an Amazon fire stick? Ridiculousness.

3803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Casualty List on: June 04, 2015, 12:33:27 PM
This list is the Bitcoin 'Casualty List'.  I think it should include people too.  Both Ross Ulbrict and Charlie Shrem belong on the list.  They are definitely bona fide casualties of the Bitcoin project as both are now sleeping in a tiny cement cell with big fat steel bars everynight.

They are on the list as BitInstant and SilkRoad.

The Venture Capital Secret: 3 Out of 4 Start-Ups Fail

It looks so easy from the outside. An entrepreneur with a hot technology and venture-capital funding becomes a billionaire in his 20s.

But now there is evidence that venture-backed start-ups fail at far higher numbers than the rate the industry usually cites.

About three-quarters of venture-backed firms in the U.S. don't return investors' capital, according to recent research by Shikhar Ghosh, a senior lecturer at Harvard Business School.

Huh? Stopped reading after that.

It is kind of true though. Not because he's a cult leader. Anyone in the lead dev position would have the same support unless he's a a loser that steers us in the wrong direction constantly. The surprising thing is that four members of his own team don't support him.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

And

Abstinence makes the church grow fondlers.
3808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht Sentenced to Life in Prison on: June 04, 2015, 12:08:28 AM
Right.  He goes to jail.  He goes directly to jail.  He does not pass go, he does not collect 200 bitcoins.

And good fucking riddance.

I do sort of feel bad for the guy.  Federal prisons in the US are harsher than some third-world prisons, and the treatment of prisoners is sometimes unconstitutionally harsh.  But that's a different issue.

EVERYBODY is better off with him in jail. Consider that Silk Road was not just drugs.  It was also arms deals that contributed to gang warfare, religious jihad, and criminal murder.  It was also extortion payments, slave sales to and by pimps including sales of underage girls for use as prostitutes, and transfers of money to jihadists and other damned murderers.

This was all going on through his website, as well as him putting out a murder-for-hire contract?  He is exactly the sort of person that the nation has the right and duty to separate from society for the sake of the welfare of all its citizens.

As far as Bitcoin is concerned, these are growing pains.  Give the Lions a bit of time to adjust to the new technology, and you're going to see crooks getting busted absolutely regardless of whether they're using bitcoin. And that's the way it needs to be.

But without him Bitcoin would never have gotten off the ground. No Slashdot article. No Galker article. No influx of idealistic young people coming to this forum fascinated by the idea of this anonymous money that lets you buy drugs online. He made Bitcoin what it is today.

Interesting. So you think all of the things they teach you in church about what not to do isn't what God wants but instead its man controlling man?

Firstly, they don't 'teach' anything in church, they simply indoctrinate into their dogmatic belief system. You don't need to be told that god disapproves of you molesting your infant sisters to know that you have no right to do such a thing to them.

Do you think Josh Dugger was wrong to touch his sisters naughty bits if the sisters didn't stop him? Was the Puritan father wrong to turn his son into the police for doing it? Does God not care about that shit?

Firstly, there were a few instances where Josh Duggar sexually assaulted those girls, sometimes they were asleep, sometimes they were not, every single time, however, they *were* sufficiently brainwashed into believing the patriarchal power he held over them that they simply complained to their dad, who claims they had a 'family meeting' on the first instance of it being reported to him and, on the second a few months later, they took him to 'Church Elders' and eventually a cop who was a good friend of Jim Duggar. A cop, coincidentally, who is currently serving 56 years for possessing extreme child abuse imagery.

So, irrespective of what any 'god' might care about, something we have no basis to assert, *we* the decent human-beings who do not need our morality defined by illiterate bronze-age goat-herders, recognise that the psychologically toxic environment within that family and within that 'Quiverfull' religious sect, leads to raising dysfunctional children with neuropsychiatric disorders.

That is what we care about, taking steps to stand up against the continued normalisation of a parent or organisation's religious 'right' to damage children to the degree they cannot help but harm others.

I agree with everything you said.

What do you mean under "dirty mind"?
Do you even watch porn?

Does a bear shit in the woods?

Here is one of the most profound, intelligent, and logical responses to pascals wager that I have ever heard.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqz0plz6DEs

Where in that saccharine, 'omg, atheists, what if you die and the Xtian god is there!'

I could only get through the first few minutes, if there is anything of substance in that video, please cite at which time point it is said.

"One of the characteristics that has always been attributed to the christian god is omni-benevolence.   If I die, and much to my dismay I am standing in front of god, what would happen?  He would know that I did not disbelieve because I was being rebellious or evil, but because there were simply too many holes in the story.  He would know my morality, and that I am a good person.  He would know my intentions.    I highly doubt that an omniscient, omnipotent, and omni-benevolent god would punish me for all eternity knowing the truth."

Paraphrased of course.

What if he starts questioning your actions instead of your faith and shows you videos projected on a cloud of you touching yourself while sniffing a pair of dirty panties? Do you think he would believe that was ok or would he send you to hell?

If an "all loving god" wants to send me to hell for playing with myself, ok.   I would be kind of embarassed if he projected it on a cloud though.

I don't think I'd care if he projected it. It's not like anyone in heaven would turn around and watch a dirty porn of me rubbing one out. If he sent me to hell everytime I rubbed one out I would have to go to hell at least 100 times just for last year. lol

I believe the reasoning is such that, as long as you weren't hurting anyone and had lived as a 'good' person, his religious laws about not masturbating etc. wouldn't apply because, as had been understood by him, he'd done a pretty shitty job in making it clear what 'He' wanted and who he was. 'He' isn't exactly unambiguous when it comes to 'Holy' texts'n'shit(tm).

3815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to Bitcoin year after 2140 ? on: June 03, 2015, 02:15:57 PM
I think bitcoins will be worth $1,000,000,000 each but it wont matter.  Because of inflation that will be the cost of a candy bar.  There will be no more jobs because the robots will do everything for us.  Everyone will be either a professional pan handler or work for a big wall street firm moving money around in circles to somehow generate a profit.  The streets will look like Blade Runner without the replicants (because that is what the future SHOULD look like).

You should read this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=180798.0

3818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING: Satoshi Loyalists Upgrade to Bitcoin XT Before Deadline on: June 02, 2015, 11:35:40 PM

When is the deadline? I searched in the internet about this and there is no info on the deadline. I am not sure there will be a fork.

Time to actually learn about bitcoin, dumbass. Your activity is over 400 and still doesnt understand shit.

Also are you too dumb to read threads in this section? Many threads already explain this FUD.

As the article say, there are lots of friendly and experienced Bitcoiners who are happy to help you make the transition over here on Bitcointalk.

Yeah, tons of friendly helpful people ready to assist you. ROFL

It's no wonder Vladimir Marchenko started a fully moderated Bitcoin forum years ago. Too bad Vladimir was a scumbag. His forum was actually pretty nice. So was his mining pool.

My head hurts reading your stupidity.....

Again, tons of friendly helpful people ready to assist you.

Oh drat. I hate being behind the times. So, okay.

----------

You are a confused guy

You are a brainwashed guy

You are a victim of your polluted society

You are an imbecile unable to think for yourself and lack the mental capacity for logic and comprehension

----------

Thanks. I feel much better now. Did I do okay?

Smiley

LOL yeah, that's pretty good. What you should tell people to get them off your back is that you're a gambler. You're just hedging your bets. If you're right you go to heaven, wear a white robe and sing old John Denver songs for all eternity and I go to hell and have a fiery poker shoved up my corn crack for all eternity. If I'm right we both just get buried and turn to dirt. No matter what, you win.
