Well here is my 0.019 purchase and my 0.001 donation screenshot.  USD out of pocket  is < 4.75

38064  Economy / Economics / Re: I read a thread on destroying bitcoins I have a better idea. on: April 19, 2015, 01:12:40 PM

sending to the genesis address will ofcourse make it unspendable for some time, but buying small amount from coinbase/another bitcoin exchanger will not levitate the value in one night either. Bitcoin will only reach it true value once we had full amount in circulation

okay if 1000 people buy 0.019 btc  that is 190 btc and we both know that is not going to move price up.

If 10000 people buy that is 1900btc and that is almost 1 diff adjustment price will trend up.

If 100,000 people buy that is 19,000 btc and that is 9.42 diff adjustments.   You can be certain price will move upwards.

If 1,000,000 people buy that is 190,000 btc and that is more then 94.2 diff adjustments since 34 adjustments from now we do the half to 12.5.

My idea costs the individual 0.001 btc given to the genesis block. Buying 0.019 btc from an exchange is not a cost so to speak.

To show I put my money were my mouth is I will post my donation to the genesis block and my purchase from coinbase.

I am not promoting coinbase as a superior place to buy btc  I have my account there.  I don't care where you buy the 0.019 btc
38065  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [27 BTC per block] PMpool.net. We have a WINNER. 1btc prize PAID! on: April 19, 2015, 01:02:41 PM
Guys,

For your information, we currently have a couple of miners mining hard on PPLNS. Pool hashrate at approx 200TH/s with short 800TH peaks. Most likely nicehash/weshash rentals. Looks like someone chasing a block with a 2btc bonus.

If you want to join with your rentals, now is the time for a block!!

I am running 25th for 12 more hours I got a fixed price for it on nicehash. Wish me luck
38066  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon nano problem on: April 19, 2015, 01:01:28 PM
Hy,
I just bought an Avalon nano usb miner and i have a problem with it.
CGminer and the BFGminer don't recognize it so I started to use the AvalonGUI.
I set the pool, port, worker, password. It shows that it start mining and I can see it in the pool's website. But after 5-6mins the led become green on the stick and it stops mining. I put it on a heatsink so it is cooled.

I had this problem> I gave up on it and gave the stick away.  Maybe notlist3d can help you with setup.

We are so far off topic, but It is in a good way.

Here is hoping to a nice bit of 2 chip stick news today.  As for the diff adjustment news is good we are at -3.45% with under 24 blocks to go.

translation is right now 1th = 0.01017 btc a day

in 3 or 4 hours 1th will =       0.01059 btc a day
38069  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Power supply question 240volt 3phase power vs 1 phase on: April 19, 2015, 11:06:33 AM
Hey Phil,

Long story short, all of your PSUs will not be able to use 3 phase, so you will either give them 2 of the phases and a ground, or 1 phase + 1 neutral + 1 ground.  Always go with 2 phases and a ground as you will need less outlets, wire, etc when using the higher voltage that is from 2 of the phases.

It sounds like you have a high leg delta system, so I believe one of the legs will be 240, off the top of my head I think the other 2 legs will be 208.  I have never used a delta system, they are older and were for supplying extra volts to start motors.  Your a smart guy, grab a multimeter and you will figure it out quickly (just be careful with live wires).

that is the plan

Also grab one of those amp meters you can put around each of the phases (to see how many amps are being used).  They will allow you to answer weird questions like say you are using 10 amps on each phase, and you add another 5 amp psu (using say 1200 watts) to 2 of the phases or 1 phase and neutral.  Does that increase each leg by 5 amps, 2.89 amps, or 2.5 amps?  5 minutes of testing and it will all make sense, have fun, 3 phase is good stuff!
the pdu's have built in amp meters so I will attempt to have each one at 4
38070  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 5 to April 18th on: April 19, 2015, 11:04:27 AM
Heads up - I'm traveling this weekend so please give me until sometime Monday to pay out the reward. The winner please feel free to send your BTC address once the diff adjustment happens, and I'll transfer the reward as soon as I get back.

Regarding rules for the next period: it was suggested to not allow to change the guess. I'll defer the decision to Philip, since he's the one maintaining the list most of the time. So Philip if you want to put that restriction in place please let everyone know in the new thread.

Seems we're heading for a nice drop now. Anyone owning last-gen hardware like the S5 should be in good shape for a few more months.

I will do the no change rule for next adjustment.  Less work and less confusion.

I suggest that everyone wait 2 days to do a pick so they can see the - or + trend.

Last gen  = lastest gen  say s-5 sp20 or avalon 4.1  I think

33 blocks and -3.45%

4-17-2015  127   -79
4-18-2015  142   -81 we are about 81 blocks off pace

With  86 to go.  So to turn positive we need to make the 86 blocks in about 1 hour.

If we make them in 15 hours we will be just past -4%

If we could get -4 that would get rid of a lot of the previous difficulty change of 5.84.  I am still amazed each time we get a negative.

Deferentially a lot different then last April.  We were getting a lot of double digits last year.  Big change, but I guess price also big change from last year.

And gear stopped improving power wise

the s-3  was the piece of gear that altered the diff jumps.  then the very small improvement with the s-5 set the change more.

Mining has so become a power cost game.  Basically most all of Europe is forced out.  Once my summer rates start i will mine at a 2th 1000 watt rate.

And lose money or if lucky break even.
38072  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: April 19, 2015, 04:01:09 AM
If by "cannot do" you mean "choose not to do" - probably for reasons of selfishness or complacency - we agree. People are often inspired by stories of exceptional people, not realizing that the majority of those people are ordinary people who chose to do something exceptional and put forth the effort to follow through on that decision. Inspiration is useless unless the inspired choose to act.

AHH free will .  I choose to smoke cigarettes and I choose to stop smoking.

The choosing to do the right thing is easy.  The actual process of enforcing your choice for yourself can be difficult.  Ultimately for me to quit smoking I allowed myself to see the truth the pain of withdrawal symptoms is bearable and will stop.

So pushing yourself to do the right thing may feel a bit painful at first but in the long run it  helps you and in many cases others.

Hiring you neighbor at 2x may cost bucks but in the long run makes good neighbors.
38073  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Summer Mining - Fans/Other summer equipment on: April 19, 2015, 03:51:42 AM
that lowes fan has a good price  139.99

Two of them in the right spot can pull a lot of heat out of the room.

How many miners will you have ?

Yea It was a good price I got two and had 50 off 250, so was a very nice deal for the amount of CFM.

I currently have a little over 10k watts worth of gear.  I planned on going down from winter of 12k watts.  But I didn't go as far down as I thought.

So now I'm working on getting a nice setup where I can put all in one room.  I have a 100 amp subpanal so have a decent amount of electricity just for miners. Winter was easy and had them separated but I will drain a lot of profit out of it if I used AC to cool them.

Ac is a no go.   what size room will these be in?   20 by 20 with a high ceiling?

Phillip,

it's seems like you feel duty bound to always take the -1.11% change guess, based on some previous exchange with another member. I would be happy to have that assigned to me, so you are free to choose what you might actually want. Feel free to do that if you want, and I won't complain or request a change later.

Thanks for organizing these, and also suchmoon for his generous .1BTC payout.

Thanks for that offer. I will mull it over.

I say we all donate 0.001 btc to the genesis block address.

And we all buy 0.019 btc from coinbase or any real exchange of btc.

total cost = 0.02 btc  most is in your pocket  and if anyone should get a 0.001 btc the founder of btc deserves it.

first tx id

first btc addy

this would not cost much and could cause some price boost.

Any drop is always welcome.
Glad that mysterious 50PH.s went and stayed in hiding...

you and me both.

with 103 blocks to go we are at -3.40%

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

price is 222 usd

so about 12 noon on Sunday eastern standard time we will know what the adjustment is.

I am very interested to see the upcoming number around may 2nd or 3rd.  I wonder if we drop -5% with the upcoming warmer weather. WE need a price thread but that is really hard to guess.
38079  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Power supply question 240volt 3phase power vs 1 phase on: April 18, 2015, 08:35:08 PM
Generally, a 240V 3 phase system will be configured as a delta, while 120V/208V systems are configured as a wye. Either way, you just want to balance the load across the phases. Run the PDUs in multiples of 3, and try to keep the draw on each even.

I have 3 pdu's and many psu's

should be able to do this in very early may.
38080  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 5 to April 18th on: April 18, 2015, 08:23:38 PM
what happened to the 12ph that where on tron?
what happened to antpool, is it back to full speed?

so y the -4%? Roll Eyes

inefficient farms for btc but ok for pumped shit coins?.....

Also most mining is Northern Hemisphere and the heat is coming.

For me summer rates jump from 13 to 16.9 cents. Add in heat factor my winter rates are 10 cents and my summer rates are 18 cents.

For others worse then above.  Now I sold off 12 sp20s and 2 s-5's  .  I kept the 2 avalon 4.1's .  I clocked them down to 1600 gh vs 2200gh as I don't need the heat they make.

I suspect a lot of miners are starting to down clock.  So a home miner may have a 20% drop off.  Since we are not the big amount of network hash rate our 20% drop turns into 3 or 4 or 5 %

Yep. I had to down clock my S5s to the default 350.

so you may have dropped from 1300gh to 1150 gh say 10 or 11%   x tenthousand others just like you and that is 15ph .  Yes the southern hemisphere adds some as it is cooling say 3 -5ph a net drop of 10 or 12 ph

and you are right at our current -4%.  we are now at -3.70%

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

we have 127 blocks to go

I went back up to 400 with mine for today as it has cooled off sufficiently to keep miners running under 50C. How hot do you allow the rigs to get before dialing them back?

The s-5s are really sturdy  what are your error numbers? As in under 1.0 percent  is okay. under 0.100 percent is good.  under 0.02 is really good.

So if you are really close to 1% errors  back off the freq.

 as for temps I  suggest
 under 60c as very safe.
 60c to 65c as so so .
 65c to 70c as pushing
over 70c for 24/7/365 as foolhardy

The auto shut off is 80c but there are reports of it failing to work. So I would not run in the 70+ range.
