Would you pls send me the link to the thread?

Sure i dug it up for you. This show the difference based on actual payouts over X time. You'll see how significant antpool's fee. And on tap of that if you mine for antpool you support centralization of the hashrate.

Your concern about centralization is a true and serious one, and a threath that everybody must be aware of.

I have analysed the results. If the pool is big, their performance is more stable. On the otherhand if the pool is small it can perform better or worse compared to others, on the long term their income will be nearly the same.

You are right about extra payments.I change my second pool to Kano.

Very nice Smiley

Yes Kano takes 0.9% so its lower than "0%" minus 100% tx fee. Also Kano's pool is highly optimised code with a very low orphan count. So if we could get the hashrate there back up, we could have more "stable" return. But regardless, its been doing very awesome since i joined. After the 666.666666% block anyways Smiley

3823  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain just implemented nuclear fusion in their s9 miner? on: September 03, 2015, 09:30:22 PM
Just heard from a forum that Bitmain is going to use nuclear fusion on their s9 antminer?  Is that possible?

Are you serious? How about no.

I'm not sure if you're serious, and you're not giving any link, but yeahno. We're going to live in an Utopia long before you'll be able to buy nuclear bombs at your local store.

I think so.  I think a lot of Middle East countries will buy the S9 if that's the case.

I think you're wrong... The ONLY country that has used nuclear weapons is the US and used it twice on Japan. So in any case it'd be mostly North America to buy the s9 antminer?

No, not North America. Canada isint the US. And no, America already have nuclear weapon, it would probably be dissidents, such as in the US that would try to buy them. Anyways nuclear reactors aren't exactly portable and only dissidents would want to make a cheap dirty bomb out of radioactive materials.
3824  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S5 - Underclock - Undervolt - Best J/GH on: September 03, 2015, 06:01:18 PM
It seem to me Bitmain are trying to make their miners NOT undervoltable, basically unhackable. S1 pen moddable, then S3 no longer, then S4's volt control get disable in later firmware, etc.

Maybe we can find a way to crack the S5, but if they do, they might "patch it" next time... maybe keep the good solutions under wrap?
3825  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain just implemented nuclear fusion in their s9 miner? on: September 03, 2015, 05:57:59 PM
It wasn't particularly funny, so it seemed more like trolling. Which i'm just fine humoring, but your replies weren't funny either ;(

Maybe if you keep trying you'll get better? Tongue

I am talking about nuclear fusion, not nuclear fission.

What exactly do you think a thermonuclear weapon is? You can do a chain reaction of nuclear fission and the heat it generate allow "hot" nuclear fusion. Nuclear fusion is not anything less than a potential nuclear bomb. Tongue

xD Radioactive isotope is not particularly cheap either. This is pretty much just impossible. You could see a small nuclear power plant feeding datacenters however. Maybe that would be economical, i have no idea.
3829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm stuck :P on: September 03, 2015, 02:04:03 AM
You really can't mine LTC or BTC with that, or pretty much any GPU really.

You could try an OpenCL miner, maybe check if Ethereum miner somehow work on your antique GPU. If you want pre-setup binaries for other algo, try nicehash.com but there's not much to do with that GPU.

The price ain't going up again right?

SoonTM.

The price is already pretty decent, back to yearly average or so. It will go up, probably as diff goes up a bit. If by up you mean 1000$ then you're gonna have to wait a while i believe.
3832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: September 03, 2015, 01:54:31 AM
LTC rewarded dropped in half and price didnt go down. Diff plummeted but somehow its skyrocketing again. I really wonder what's up with that. Profitability is down the drain, i'm not sure why there's so much hash on the network.

I get there's some very efficient SCRYPT ASICs but err...
3833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NSA KNOWS on: September 03, 2015, 01:51:23 AM
too bad the nsa isnt in canada  Cheesy

Canada doesn't need an NSA. The Royal Canadian Air Force and Navy keep everything under control.

Hey don't be like that. We totally got real planes fighters. From WW1. >.>
3834  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: " on: September 02, 2015, 10:59:35 PM
If most people use SHA256 then does this mean that not many people mine bitcoin? As i am informed that this only uses Scrypt algorithm!

Hmm no. Sha is the original algo. Scrypt is the alt. Litecoin = Scrypt. BTC = SHA256d.

Not sure where you have been misinformed Wink
3835  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: September 02, 2015, 07:34:22 PM
Where exactly do you put the flag --bitmain-homemode ?

Edit: I got off my lazy ass and added it to the cgminer.conf that was in /config instead of etc/config. I tried json format "bitmain-homemode" : true and it kinda worked.

But now it mine at 75% speed, even though freqs are still at 200, is there a way around this? If i change freq to compensate or reboot the bitmain-homemode flag get overwritten? I'm guessing i'm not doing it the right way?
3836  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HOW TO CHANGE DIFFUCULTY OF ANT MINER S5 on: September 02, 2015, 11:53:28 AM
I am familiar with electronics but definitely a newby about pools. However, nalysing the link below I think antpool performs and distrubutes higher. If you can share your earnings in a defined period, lets say past week and the week ahead we can compare results or we can follow a procedure you recommend.I am not defending antpool and ready to learn more and earn more.Every help and recommendations about pool selection is accepted. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and experience.

There's a thread that show antpool pay less, for most likely the reason i said. Antpool does NOT payout tx reward. It's in the pool section, let me know if you can't find it. You're free to use antpool but you will have slightly lower payouts overall and you are helping china centralizing BTC hashrate.
3837  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best bitcoin miners on: September 02, 2015, 11:50:17 AM
Do all miners have an option to switch from SHA-256 to Scrypt, I have noticed that for scrypt algrorithm for bitcoin mining is ten times faster to find a share on pools but the hash amount decreases by a factor of ten!

ASIC can't switch, thats what ASIC mean, they only do one thing. There are dual miners, but you don't exactly switch either, you either use the scrypt portion or you don't, same for sha.

Otherwise specified, its absolutely impossible.
3838  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S5 - Underclock - Undervolt - Best J/GH on: September 02, 2015, 11:42:25 AM
If you're losing 10% efficiency by getting those PSUs, why not use the PSUs you already have and use a good volt step down at 95-98% efficiency? Depending on what you have on hand it would be more efficient and more effective?
3839  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Second hand S5 for Bitmain, are they worth ? on: September 02, 2015, 11:34:01 AM

Or 1 year + with the current difficulty increase trend, hard to tell.
With the S7 around the corner, its probably better to wait for the mass sell. Just since the new chip announcement the market place already started having tons of S5 for sale.

I do not see anywhere tons of S5 for sale.  Why?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=75.0

Well there's quite a few S5 on the marketplace that arent being sold. Maybe because buyer know/think that if they wait they will get the hardware they want at the price they want. Shifted to buyer's market i guess.
3840  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2900 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: August 31, 2015, 07:04:28 PM
Those miners would only be of interesting if you shipped and hosted them in some private datacenter located in like Québec or China. At 0.02$/kWh this could be very yummy.

Naw we just need to find a way for people to come to Kano. With its great payout i'm not sure why its so deserted. People flock to bigger pools for more stable daily payouts?
