We'll also be looking into things like the fraudulent "CPC Electronics" trying to sell fake mining equipment and any other type of fraud targeting the Bitcoin community. It's up to us to work together and protect each other and our entire "free market" currency system.

For actually doing something instead of asking for donations, I am now working with the Manchester City Council Trading Standards Office regarding CPC. Anyone who can offer additional information or if there is a victim here (because according to their wallet there is at least one by now) please contact P.Minshaw@manchester.gov.uk referencing complaint # 047774

Might have more luck finding a buyer if you could find a way to get rid of that muck on the screen. Maybe try one of those ultrasound cleaners they use for glasses?
3824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Write "Bitcoin" on every banknote (using a pencil) on: January 02, 2013, 11:26:53 AM
the note will be taken out of circulation as soon as it reaches the first bank
I don't think so.

I stand corrected. I just looked it up and it is only the national central banks that will take the note out of circulation in the EU.
3825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin Bible" by Charles Petzhold on: January 02, 2013, 11:20:27 AM
If you're going to the trouble of photoshopping this at least make sure you name the supposed author correctly. It's Petzold.
3826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Write "Bitcoin" on every banknote (using a pencil) on: January 02, 2013, 10:57:50 AM
That's cute and all, but the note will be taken out of circulation as soon as it reaches the first bank. So the lifespan of the note after you spend it is about a day.

Fail Greyhawk, fail Tongue

I know. I forgot the "n" between "a" and "economy". But English is only my third language so that happens from time to time.
3828  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the moral legitimacy of bitcoin? on: January 02, 2013, 09:57:04 AM
For centuries mankind has been threatened by governments of all stripe whether they're communist, capitalist or monarchies to pay taxes, every one of them has used violence against the people to assert their power, now with Bitcoin they will have no choice but to work with us instead or they won't get any money at all. I guess it's kind of like when you finally get to move out of your parents house, in the end no matter what threats etc. they might use against you afterwards it means absolutely nothing because you've finally gained independence.

Exactly.

Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' We rejected those answers; instead, we chose something different. We chose the impossible.

Imagine, an economy where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the heat of your rig, Bitcoin can become your economy as well.
3829  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what about privacy? if all transactions are public, you can easily trace account on: January 02, 2013, 09:34:02 AM
wait, so you're saying that most merchants have a different address, one for EACH client? and they use some program to manage ALL those different addresses?!

No, one for each TRANSACTION.

Oh man wish I could get one, first off the format here would need to be three letters - three numbers or less of the either.

BTC-150

for BTC-Iso(kivi)
3831  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: would someone describe realistic mining expectations on: January 02, 2013, 09:25:06 AM
No, it's analogous to a lottery where you have more tickets when you have more hashing power.
3832  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sites that sell yugioh, magic the gathering, etc. that take bitcoins? on: January 02, 2013, 08:51:58 AM
Are there any site that sell tcg card games that accept bitcoins?

I think there's a Magic the Gathering Online Exchange that deals in Bitcoin.
3833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anti-Fraud Team -- Help Wanted on: January 02, 2013, 12:17:24 AM

... yet you defend not using $10 USD of your own money to even register a domain name. And, all the activity shown to date with your newly founded enterprise centers around Bitcoin.

Pretend for a second your name is Bob Smith. With all the evidence presented to date, would you seriously deal with this Aaron Carter?

Only at gunpoint.  Cheesy

Oh... Well....  Undecided
3834  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: SatoshiDice, lack of remedies, and poor ISP options are pushing me toward "Lite" on: January 02, 2013, 12:00:20 AM

And it appears to be approaching the rate of 300 transactions per block (about 43K transactions per-day).

This is a transaction every two seconds.

A lot of these are microtransactions (e.g., under a dollar's worth of coins) used for wagering, so the blockchain already has a way of limiting those:

It's doubtful that anyone will be able to hold the entire blockchain at some point in the future, should Bitcoin become a mainstream thing.

Here's some interesting data (from 2006 only for the US)

Average daily number of transactions:
- 60 Million credit card transactions
- 100 Million Interbank ATM transactions
- 60 Million ACH transactions
- 15 Million SWIFT transactions
- 365.000 CHIPS transactions
- 521.000 FEDwire transactions
- 700.000 CLS transactions

So that's a cool 237 Million daily transactions, in the US alone, excluding cash transactions.

Let's assume a conservative average of 3 daily cash transactions per person (buying the paper, a hotdog and a pack of smokes). That adds a cool 1000 Million transactions for the US alone right there.

Yeah. Better go grab a YottaByte HD real quick.
3835  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: There will be no ASICs in January on: January 01, 2013, 11:31:43 PM

If you're in reference to the FAB, Josh is already on record in stating that it's not located in China, and that the Chinese New Year is not a concern for delivery of chips.

~Bruno K~

I wonder if he knows the Chinese New Year is not only a big deal in China.

Ups, sorry wachtwoord. That was coincidence  Wink

Let me pick another one ...

This one's actually brilliant in it's subversiveness. I  wonder how many BFL customers realize it's actually insulting them.

BFL shills mystify me.  I don't understand the psychology.

It's fear. Pure and utter fear.

As the OP what do you have in mind for the purpose of this thread?

He's essentially trying to do a "Berlusconi".
