3821  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Gemini's bitcoincash withdrawal announcement on: October 09, 2017, 06:35:05 AM
Wait, Wait Wait. Are you telling me they took this long to allow their users to be able to get their own coins? I'm not one to support Bitcoin Cash, but I think it's a bit unreal to be making people wait this long. Also, I think that if people wanted the BCC behind it, they would've moved their Bitcoin from Gemini to another exchange which would've allowed them to do this with ease and swiftness.

But, then again, I guess some people could see the free money and want to just grab some. I'd love for them to come out and say how much BCC their customers own.
3822  Economy / Economics / Re: Dogecoin Petition for Amazon on: October 09, 2017, 06:24:19 AM
Isn't going to end up doing anything, if Amazon isn't going to accept Bitcoin they're never going to accept some shitcoin like Dogecoin. This is one of the worthless coins that was only hyped due to it's name, and the memes behind it.

Don't sign this petition, if we want communities and companies and the real world to take us seriously. Us in the cryptocurrency community are going to have to only make serious requests of these companies and use the time we have in the publics eye to our advantage. People aren't going to take us seriously if we do this--

3823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Bitcoins taxable? on: October 09, 2017, 05:19:54 AM
Yes bitcoin is taxable. Not by means of the government is taxing but I guess that the miners were the one who are asking for taxes. The confirmation is dependable on how much btc you spend. If you will spend the high amount in sending then the confirmation of your transaction will be fast.

Don't even know what you, nor most people on this thread are trying to say but I'll sum it up fast for you bud.

When you earn bitcoins, you're going to have to state that you've earned this -- easiest way is going to be convert these Bitcoins to cash and then file it on your taxes as earned income, as you wouldn't want a fluctuating price present on their as it would fuck with your taxes.

Don't believe what anyone says when they say no, you're going to have to pay taxes on any earned income. Plain and Simple.
3824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee says it costs him 1000$ to mine 1 Bitcoin. Is it really that cheap? on: October 08, 2017, 04:23:41 PM
It is totally not true.  If it were true, John McAfee would buy twice as many machines as he has today.  And then tomorrow, twice as many again.  Even for Jihan who is certainly the very most efficient miner in the world - it cost far more than $1000 per bitcoin.

John McAfee is too busy eating dicks to carefully add up all the costs and report accurately on that.

McAffe just wants to be relevant again, cut the dude some slack.

But back on the topic here, there is no fucking way that this is possible. If it was, we'd be in an insane mining frenzy with the difficulity exponentially going up hour after hour. The guy is a bunch of shit, a has been that's trying to get back into the public light anyway he can, and then only way he knows how.
3825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how do you buy bitcoin? on: October 08, 2017, 04:13:37 PM
Coinbase. I know many people aren't big fans of buying through Coinbase and Gdax, but with these companies if you're not doing anything shady such as sending to coinmixing sites (directly) or sending to gambling / dice sites (directly) then they're fine to use. You also have to adhere to their KYC policies, but that's common place in America.

I've used Paxful and stuff like that, though I'm not a fan of the big fees on their.

Coinbase / GDax is where it's at.
3826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on Ether? on: October 08, 2017, 03:55:39 PM
While this does sound cool, something like this will never happen. They're the two biggest coins in the altcoin marketplace and it would be insane to even think about them merging together. Plus the fact that Bitcoin is a currency / trading currency while the only use for Ether is really only trading by people who are trying to make a quick buck.

Sad but that is the truth.

I bought some eBTC. I'm losing real money.

Isn't this kinda expected when buying a shitcoin.
3827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT Happens With The Tokens If Ethereum forked on: October 08, 2017, 03:40:33 AM
I guess this all depends on what the forked version looks like, if it was one to accept all the tokens to ETH then I don't think the coins wouldn't move over as well. Obviously with a new name to reflect the work and probably with little to no value. But all of this is very circumstantial.

Would be crazy to see a hard fork with ETH though, I'll wait to see the day I suppose.
3828  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Am I Being Scammed? on: October 08, 2017, 02:42:05 AM
The money orders range in date from Aug. 1st to Sept. 23rd and are from Western Union, Money Gram, and Memo Financial Services.

Does anyone else find it odd that a person would hold on to $11,000 worth of somewhat old money orders?

It is odd and perhaps these money orders were stolen or obtained illegitimately.

If you're not 100% confident with the trade then don't go along and finalize it, simply opt out or tell him to instead pay you all by cash. Since you still have the goods on hand, there should not be an issue with this.

Yeah, I'm thinking of just sending the 3 units to him that he paid cash for and send him back the money orders. I did already deposit 2 $500 WU money orders from him but I will consult my bank manager on Monday and seek his advice as well.

When the buyer initially mentioned money orders to me, I was on full alert and very wary of an attempted scam. It definitely threw me off when he left the cash and money orders without taking any units. $10k is a lot of cash to be leaving with someone you just met. Although he does know my two brick and mortar business so it's not like I would just disappear.

Just a side question to all of this. Do you usually cicrumvent Ebay when it comes to this sort of stuff? Like I would rather just have people pay over Paypal, just to be able to get the added security of being able to say, well I shipped it and you used your CC on ebay so you did get it. Ebay says that's that and it's case closed.

Though I guess you could do this to avoid the steep fees that Ebay makes you pay, plus the fact that it's a high amount.
3829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Decentralized Exchanges Make Bitcoin More Resilient (and Us More Free) on: October 08, 2017, 02:09:25 AM
The biggest problem that I see with decentralized exchanges is that they're usually a bit more of a nuiscance to the people using them, and sadly, people would rather not go through trouble and go through more risk on these centralized exchanges to be able to avoid this nuisance. It's possible, that people could just be buying Bitcoin from other people instead of Coinbase, or trading altcoins peer to peer on decentralized exchanges rather then on Poloniex or whoever is winning that exchange battle right now.

Sad, but this is the world we live in. People would rather give up security for convenience.
3830  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks in Canada slowly warming to cannabis biz - but crypto is the better answer on: October 08, 2017, 12:13:20 AM
I recall seeing a ICO for a coin that brings the Blockchain and crypto to legal cannabis sellers.
I thought  it was an interesting take on the crypto scene but having read this article and having seen many others like it with the increased interest and legalisation of marijuana I can understand that there could be a need for such markets.

Edit: Here's an interesting article: http://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/Cannabis-and-Cryptocurrency-The-Time-is-now-1002275097

But here's my question to people that think we need a wholenother coin to be able to do what Bitcoin can, and probably has been doing without issue for years. Why do we need a coin to facilitate transcations between cannabis businesses and other people involved in the process? It's not like this coin will ever be able to gain enough traction to be a traded coin, let alone be stable enough for companies to want to accept and use it.

Lets stick to Bitcoin with stuff like this.
3831  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk account banned? on: October 07, 2017, 03:12:10 PM
I think it's pretty straightforward to go ahead and ask Theymos why you were banned. I'd also suspect that an admin/moderator of the forum will go ahead and probably respond with telling you here.

But you'd probably know why you were banned....
3832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin generated alt coin from forks. on: October 07, 2017, 02:29:58 PM
Found this site http://mapofcoins.com/bitcoin#
Don't know all data they have is correct or not but they have listed all coins cloned from bitcoin in very nice way.

Total coins cloned from bitcoin = 667
Coin created this month = 2

This isn't going to be what he's asking for, he's asking what coins come straight off the chain of Bitcoin through forking. Not coins that just clone Bitcoin and use the same code as it.

Here's the link of coins that are forks of Bitcoin - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bitcoin_forks - Though the only one that I consider real is going to be the Bitcoin Cash one, just my opinion though.
3833  Other / Meta / Re: Post count in my account has been reduced more than 10 down. on: October 06, 2017, 08:27:40 PM
Prolbably what happend here is that you posted on something that was later deleted by the Admin / moderation team here, happens to me sometimes if they deem something not approriate for the boards or something else along those lines.

I guess you could ask an admin what posts were removed that you posted on, but who knows if they'll know!

Good luck
3834  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud Mining Question on: October 06, 2017, 08:09:58 PM
No, these contracts are right. With the amount of profits that people can see from buying into the altcoin mining frenzy the difficulity is going to increase at an exponential rate due to this. Plus, my view on Cloud Mining (be it bitcoin or Altcoins) is that all of the companies that offer this out are a bunch of scams, and the few that aren't are the ones that are just going  to stop mining on your 'lifetime' contract when it isn't profitable for them.

Avoid it all together dude, you're bound to lose all your money in the end.
3835  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are the most used exchanges these days? on: October 06, 2017, 07:46:37 PM
As per coinmarket.com, the following are the 24 Hour Volume Rankings (Exchange).

1. BitMEX
2. Bithumb
3. Bitfinex
4. Bittrex
5. HitBTC
...
8. Poloniex
9. Kraken
11. Binance
..
14. GDAX

Unfortunately, I was out of the trading scene for a good six months If I'm not mistaken. But I used to trade with Poloniex as well. Lucky I was able to quit was Poloniex has good support back then. Are you going back to trading though? I think more experience members can chime in their review and you can decide where to go. Goodluck.

Wow.

I don't think I'm going to come back to the trading scene at all, I think that this bubble is going to pop at some point. Sad thing is I don't know, nor does anyone else know when that's going to happen. I don't want to be involved with something that I know is going to come falling into shambles, plus I'll lose money Sad

Moving back to what I was talking about at first. This is insane to see something like HitBtc, Bitfinex, and Bittrex above a company like Poloniex which practically had a majority of the entire Bitcoin community trading on it.

Any reasons behind this rapid change?
3836  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is Bitcoin Price So Fluctuating? on: October 06, 2017, 07:14:19 PM
The rise and fall is ultimately going to be effected by the the traders of Bitcoin, now these people do take a lot of thing into account when making these decisions to buy, sell, hold, leverage on certain positions, and so on  and so forth. Some of the many thing that these people put into account is the current minds of the miners, on what they want to do with bitcoin, what the developers want to do with Bitcoin, current news on regulation from governments, and so on and so forth.

Also, the Bitcoin price is flucutating due to the fact that there isn't really a wall of buyers and sellers holding the price within certain margins. People who traded Bitcoin are trying to make as much money as they can, they don't care for the actual users in the least and what they think about the currency.
3837  Economy / Trading Discussion / What are the most used exchanges these days? on: October 06, 2017, 12:05:26 PM
I was around a good time ago and traded at this point, I used to know Poloniex and would trade on it religiously. I don't really know what are the biggest exchanges at the moment and the most trusted ones, I've heard there are some problems that people have voiced with Poloniex and some other exchanges.

Anyone want to share the ones they use with feedback that they have with it?

Thanks
3838  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What cryptocurriencies do we really need? on: October 06, 2017, 11:57:16 AM
Well to be honest and outright, we really don't need any other cryptocurrencies. I think the reason that we have so many is due to greed, people simply want money. And one of the paths to money in  Crypto is to make a coin, generate hype around it, (premine as well) and then go ahead and sell this coin for whatever you can pull together.

I would say we could be fine with just BITCOIN, though it is alright to have something like 10 if these are really trying to go ahead and change thing. As changes in other coins could promote change in BItcoin itself through innovation.
3839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pretty Specious on: October 06, 2017, 06:21:57 AM
Well the reason I think that a lot of people are critics on the subject on Bitcoin is that they want to see it fail, and for good reason. They have no reason to want Bitcoin to excel, they're the banks for god sake. There is no reason for them to want something other than the USD (and other fiats) to be doing wonderfully. They have full range and control over the USD by the Federal Reserve power they're given, they're going to try to belittle Bitcoin and say it's X,Y,Z.

All of these people have alternative motives, they're not just talking to talk. These people only open their mouths publicly when they think they can convince somebody, and sadly they probably did make some of their employees, or horribly educated TV watchers.
3840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you believe that digital currencies will replace Fiat? on: October 05, 2017, 12:11:28 PM
I've said this before and I"ll continue to say it, I highly doubt that governments will ever allow for digital currencies to swoop in and takeover the currencies that they've had control over for a long time. Governments aren't just going to give up their power because a group of decentralized people decided that they wanted to takeover the game.

Governments, politicians, and bureaucrats strive for power. Giving up an insane amount of their power, which is the Federal Reserve / Tresaury and all the money which comes from the banks to keep them in power.

I think the only chance for this to happen is if the population goes full stride in taking digital currencies and using them, governments will never advertise or succumb to fiat.

tldr: Nope.
