hey mate , my friend was asking me about the browser mining that was in freebitcoin but he said it's not available anymore ?? did you remove it ? if so is there any plan to bring it back ?

It is still available using the link:

https://mining.freebitco.in/mining.html?userid=xxxxxx

Just replace xxxxxx with your user ID. We just tidied up the front page and removed the link from there. We're not actively promoting it anymore but we have no plans to take it away.

also about the interest , can we expect it to be a little bit higher in the future ?? cause 4% a year looks so low comparing it with the other opportunities

That really depends what other opportunities you are comparing it to. I'm not aware of any other Bitcoin investment that pays fixed interest and guarantees a return. If there are any let me know. If you're comparing it to speculative investments that may result in a loss then that's not really equivalent.
Compared to my bank which is paying 0.05% APR if you want the flexibility to withdraw whenever you want it and you have to take the fiat currency then it risk looks pretty good.

I got this message on Freebitco.in recently
Quote
Your email provider seems to be rejecting our emails. We recommend that you change your email address to one that is able to receive emails from us (by clicking on the PROFILE button in the top bar) so that you can receive password reset emails and payment notifications from us in the future.
But until now I haven't noticed that I don't get emails from Freebitco.in. I always get messages about withdrawal, reward points bonusses and etc. Should I change my email address?

I think I would. You need to set 2fa before you can change the email address. After you have done that then you don't need to confirm withdrawals etc. by email anyway. I've already had to deal with a couple of hacked accounts caused by people having their email hacked first and then the password reset via recovery email. That couldn't have happened with 2fa enabled so I'd recommend it as being far safer.
3863  Other / Meta / Re: LoyceV's Merit data analysis on: May 04, 2018, 10:43:18 AM
As it is 100 days since the launch of Merit I thought it would be interesting to look at this stat. I've seen it suggested a few times that ranks should be reset and only earned merit counted so I thought I'd look at what that would leave us. Bear in mind that 100 days is only enough activity to still be a Member.

So much for the 'it's impossible to rank up' narrative.

this 2FA is just simple OTP via email, right?

I can't remember all the choices but I'm using Google Authenticator (actually WinAuth on my PC).

You need to confirm the email to set 2fa but after that, it replaces email confirmation.

slow and instant withdrawal required confirmation, but weekly auto withdraw doesn't?

Correct. That is because you need to confirm by email or 2fa to change the payout address on the weekly.

Last time, a few months ago, I asked about changing email address and myfe never said anything about setting up 2FA
I hesitated and didn't try to change my email address at that time, because the FAQ on the site stated

Quote from: WEBSITE FAQ
How can I change my Bitcoin address or Email address?

By clicking on the button that says PROFILE in the top menu. You will be able to change your email address only if the email that is currently attached to your account is invalid or it is bouncing our emails back.

Hmmm. Not sure about that, maybe the FAQ needs updating. I haven't ever changed my email but wetsuit specifically told me that to change the email address, a user needs to have 2FA enabled which requires verifying the old email first.

I think only electrum could verify this signature. But I am not sure.

No, it fails in Electrum as well. It probably only verifies with whatever client it was signed. The message also said staking 'new' address so there should be a message signed by the old one as well or the account could have already been hacked.

Is it worth your time to login every hour?

Check this post - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=320959.msg35994005#msg35994005

In that post, it is mentioned that how much you can roughly earn from this site for one year and if you claim every one hour. Decide whether you want to spend your time on this site or not to earn money.

Before you make any decision, make sure you read the two comments after that one as well, because MinerHQ calculations turned out to be too low.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Whenever I see the words 'worth it' or 'earn' I immediately know that the person writing them has misunderstood the site and gambling in general. It is not a job, it is entertainment and the chance to win.

Quoted, but I couldn't verify your message, it looks a bit messy mixing both addresses.

Note: This user's email address was changed recently.

When changing a staked address you need to sign from both the old address and the new one to prove ownership.
3868  Other / Meta / Re: Captcha should be removed on: May 04, 2018, 03:51:51 AM
I'll tell you, I don't use Tor and when I've had to log in in the past from my PC, it has sometimes taken numerous attempts with the captcha.  It's a pain in the ass, but the solution is to stay logged in.  I understand that when you're managing a stable of alt accounts, all in different campaigns, it can be tiresome but there's a solution for that as well.  <ahem>

I always stay logged in and hadn't figured out why people were complaining... makes sense now.

My limited knowledge of internet security keeps me from realizing the advantages of the captcha, but I think helps keep spam bots from running rampant.  We had one for a while that made all these new accounts, and late at night they were making these posts advertising weird bodybuilding supplements.  I reported them on a nightly basis for a while, and then suddenly they were gone.  If I'm wrong--and if anyone actually reads this post--you can correct me.

In the grand scheme of things, it's a minor annoyance.  If it assists Theymos in keeping bitcointalk clean, I won't bitch about it.

It doesn't stop bots running rampant but as I explained above it does add a cost for them. That might be enough to persuade some of them to go and spam somewhere else.
3869  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: May 03, 2018, 03:05:07 PM
yes, i read it. But i expect another ending.
anw, ok, i leave

I'm sure what ending you were expecting. I told you fighting bots is an ongoing battle and that the restrictions on redeeming reward points have been removed. Was I supposed to say 'and they all lived happily ever after' or something?
3870  Other / Meta / Re: Request for a New Forum board "SCAM ALERT" on: May 03, 2018, 02:07:05 PM
I would suggest to add another form for situation when the one who make an accusation was not scammed.

I think that fits on the Reputation board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=129.0

Make a thread there and present the evidence you have that someone is behaving in a shady manner.
3871  Other / Meta / Re: Captcha should be removed on: May 03, 2018, 02:03:14 PM
Solvemedia isn't going to work. Here is theymos' opinion about it:

Elsewhere, someone suggested Solvemedia, but I think that all captchas based on reading text are actually easier for high-quality OCR to solve than for humans. The photo-based ones give computers a major disadvantage over humans. I don't care very much if people use services like 9kw.eu to solve the captchas, since that at least has a cost, but if a captcha can be OCRed, then they have no cost at all, making them completely useless.

If someone has other suggestions for good captcha services/libraries, let me know. I don't really like using Google products, since Google's whole business model is spying on people. Though as I mentioned, I don't have much faith in captchas based on reading mangled text.

I can add to this that all captchas are solvable by bots using captcha solve services. People in third world countries working for $0.25 an hour fed through to the bots. reCaptcha is used because it is the most expensive at roughly 10x the price of others.

reCapatcha is fine if you don't use any VPN, proxy or TOR and you don't solve many of them. I restrict myself to no more than 5 a day and only ever have to tick the 'I'm not a robot' box and don't have to solve anything.
3872  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: May 03, 2018, 12:37:15 PM
bot go away and roll reward back normal

Did you read the answers I gave you before?
3873  Other / Meta / Re: How someone can send merits without receiving a single merit? on: May 03, 2018, 12:35:35 PM
You felt? Just because you felt??

Everyone is free to give Merit as they feel fit. If it's not an alt account abusing campaigns or bounties, which looks to be the case, then it is up to him who he gives it to and for whatever reason.

update:
Did anyone yet noticed this...

Click here if unable to see image
All these merit giving tags has been removed  Cheesy I guess theymos wrote a script to remove the tags when it's too many. It looks better now.

I think you find that just an intermittent stack overflow error as that display been flipping on and off for months.

Looking for some help here because I don't understand why I cannot post in a certain topic.

Did you use the Ignore Board option in your profile settings? I'm pretty sure you can't post on a board you are ignoring even though you can navigate to a thread from a link.
3875  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: May 03, 2018, 11:02:42 AM
P.S. I just redeemed my 320 RP to have 100% bonus for minimum prize on freerolls in the next 24 hours and it's working perfectly.

That only affected accounts that have reduced rewards and I did announce in this thread that wetsuit had reversed the restriction as it was so unpopular.
3876  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin in for another low? on: May 03, 2018, 11:00:27 AM
@exstasie

We just have a different opinion of what correlated markets are. I've been involved in day trading for a very long time and we talk about correlated markets in terms of things that move in sync most of the time and have short periods where that correlation can be broken. (Or have an inverse correlation.). We sometimes even use this to take a signal to enter a trade on one market based on another slightly leading on a particular day. I don't see any possibility to do that using stocks and Bitcoin. If you view it in terms of an overall trend then we're just talking at crossed purposes.

I agree about the news but that doesn't undermine that fundamentals drive markets. I see completely different fundamentals driving these two markets, but that just an opinion.

but i lost mail by hacker Huh  Cry Cry Cry

Can you not get your email back? Did you already have 2fa set? Contact me via PM giving me as much detail as you can I'll see what we can do but if you didn't have 2fa and your email is hacked it then the hacker has probably already got your account.

3879  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: May 03, 2018, 10:06:41 AM
I tried to withdraw at the Weekend but i did not receive the confirmation mail. It wasnt in the spam fold either. What happened?

I have dealt with this query countless times and the outcome has been that the person asking 'found' the confirmation email eventually in 100% of instances.

Please add support(at)freebitco.in and noreply(at)freebitco.in to your address book try again and then check your spam folder thoroughly.

Handy tip: Set 2fa and there is no need to confirm emails on withdrawal anymore.
3880  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin in for another low? on: May 03, 2018, 10:01:11 AM
As I said, "the long term trends are pretty obviously correlated." But I think you're reaching a bit trying to attribute causation for stock market moves and suggesting on that basis alone there is no relationship. Pulling out one short term chart really doesn't tell the story. Those moves aren't necessarily relevant to money flow on 1-month or 1-year charts, and they don't speak to the idea of overall money flow into risky assets. Risky assets include overinflated stocks and cryptocurrency alike.

If I had enough time I could pull out lots of shorter timeframe charts showing that the turning points don't match and then digging through the news reports at the time to work out what caused them.

What I'm trying to say is the fact that two things are in a long-term bull trend doesn't make them correlated. The stock markets bottomed in March 2009 due to central banks quantitative easing. This provided a large amount of fiat that could be borrowed very cheaply. It depressed bond yields and other fixed interest product which resulted in large institutional investors being forced into riskier equity investments to find a return.

The banking crisis was equally the driver behind the creation of Bitcoin but its increasing value wasn't driven by pension funds looking for a better return than US Treasuries were giving. Equally the day to day fundamentals that affect the market's perception of the likely return in investing Amazon or Walmart has no bearing on the market's perception of the future value of Bitcoin. It lives in a very different ecosystem and just putting up two charts that go from bottom left to top right over a very long period of time doesn't prove a correlation.
