MtGox is closing for 8 days?  Roll Eyes

Though, on second thought, that's not entirely a bad thing.

Well in retrospect is makes the "hack" story shine in a whole new light.

looks familiar?
3863  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your 'predictions' for high and low for next 24 hours on: April 14, 2013, 05:52:04 PM
I pretty much concur with the others here but I don't think we'll hit 150 until week's end.

I will sell you 1 week $150 calls.  What would you like to purchase and name your price.

I think this "yeah we will only see a 50% return in a week not a day" "downplay" has just got to stop.  Hell if Bitcoin hit $150 by the end of the year it would still make it the best performing currency in the world.

So you genuinely think we gonna hit quadruple digits this summer?

Its either 2 steps forward and 1 step back or 3 steps forward and 5 steps back. Choose wisely.
3864  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst :) on: April 14, 2013, 05:08:56 PM
Count #2 if we deal with small bull flag (doubt)

Are you telling us we'll have early market reversal upwards to 9001?
3865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We can never survive through mass adoption without decentralized exchanges on: April 14, 2013, 05:01:22 PM
Nice thread Matthew.

But I doubt many here did understand a word you were telling them.
3866  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst :) on: April 14, 2013, 01:09:13 PM
And now they are in the way to US, where pyramids are burned with fire.

MtGox may come and go but Bitcoin will be around for longer.
I officially stand for getting rid off such idiots like gox. And Bitpay ) They kinda drive bitcoin, but in real they harm bitcoin.
Why is BitPay a harm to bitcoin? From what I have seen, they have been one of the greatest promoters for the currency. They provide a great service and attend many functions/festivals/conferences promoting bitcoin and their business.

They engage in market manipulation to increase volatility, make using bitcoin as intended (accepting it directly) unattractive to push their business model.
They publicly admitted to play the market with their clients coins (ie bragged "short squeezing" pirate) resulting even bubblier behaviour than usual which again drives more bitcoin users into their hands.

I expect we'll be seeing record levels of fiat on the order book  in the next week.

It can easily go to $150 and over by Wednesday, but I still call for a trading range of $100-$120 for anything between 1-6 months. Every move above that should be regarded as a selling/shorting opportunity in the meantime, with bids in place in the low end of the trading range.

Btw. my public advice regarding bitcoin in my Finnish forums so far has been as follows:

- September-October 2012 (at ~$10): Buy with 1-5% of your net worth
- Feb 6-10, 2013 (at ~$20): Buy as much as you can afford to lose, even if you don't have the time to study the basics
- Apr 11, 2013 (at exactly $160): Sell 20%, to cash out double of your original investment.

LOL if I had even followed my own advice, I would be perhaps double as rich now  Cheesy

Oakpacific also congratulated me for being pretty much the only bull in this thread to turn bearish during the short stint over $200. Not that I sold much though, I am in it for the longest time, not for the fiat profits that the taxman is all too willing to share, in case I ever sell anything.

Look yourself in the mirror: http://buttcoin.org/the-cargo-cult-of-bitcoin

Why exactly you find it offensive that my followers have cashed out their original investment in double in just 2 months, are riding the freebies of 80% of their bitcoins, and are now prepared to buy some back if ever it hits $30-$50, or sell to the strength if ever we hit a bubble territory again?

Just read it.

3871  Economy / Economics / Re: For now, bitcoin only suitable as a store of value on: April 14, 2013, 11:32:36 AM
Bitcoins are usable for speculating and trading stuff online.

That's it, a store of value implies inherent stability which bitcoin can not be, ever. It's an asset with high elasticity, the highest possible actually.
3872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's Fortune lower bound is 100M USD(DEBATE GOING ON, DO NOT TWEET!) on: April 14, 2013, 11:09:59 AM
Ok, I give up.

I like deepceleron response, at least itīs based on facts about the code rather than on people remembrances.

But still, what people say contradicts the blockchain:

The first release of Satoshi client v0.1 was on Fri, 09 Jan 2009 17:05:49 -0800

That was AFTER block 1 to 10 were mined. So, thatīs another evidence that he mined blocks 1-10 himself, which means he HAD to computer power or he was extremely lucky.
(unless I made a mistake with converting time zones, but I donīt think so)

Don't give up, just make more coherent arguments and write that up in a blog post or write a paper on it.
The whole thing in forum posts is very difficult to follow.
3873  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst :) on: April 14, 2013, 10:25:51 AM
Ponzi is when someone attract people buying something with "we are confident that it will rise". Huh?

Well you could say mtgox made bitcoin into a ponzi like scheme, yes. It's a bit more complicated than that but whatever hold true, bitcoin wouldn't be that expensive right now if it weren't for gox.
3874  Economy / Speculation / Re: knock knock on: April 14, 2013, 10:14:36 AM
If I were a big fish hoping for enough liquidity to get out I'd be so relieved right now.  Cheesy

Please stop posting conspiracy theorists.  It makes us all look bad.  Anyone who listens to this jackass or posts about him goes immediately on my ignore list.  He's a nutter.

I can't believe I'm posting in an Alex Jones thread.

May I still post this one?   Grin

nice triangle:

bitcoin likes triangles

"bullish wedge" actually or whatever it's called

I'd be very wary of traditional trend analysis right now while we can expect another DDoS/panic to batter down any spike.

Meanwhile on mtgox the price broke through at the lower end....
with zero lag.

Someone decided to sell a few thousand coins at $100, and the price stopped there because there wasn't lag to provoke more selling.

Still we broke the triangle.
You can't have it both ways. It could have been "someone buying a few thousand at 140" but it wasn't. Either accept the market for what it is including all participants or leave TA alone.

This is no tech support thread (yes the graph is fine for me too. )

But he does give you guys a handy scapegoat: Alex Jones thinks the central banks started the selloff.
I suggest you buy as much as you can to show them.  Wink

Seriously this is dumb.
Of course it's seriously dumb!  So are his followers - which is why this is the best news I've heard all day.  I have to say I haven't liked to see the likes of Max Keiser lower themselves to go on AJ's show and because I'm aware that those of us who have Bitcoin today are likely to be empowered relative to those who jump on board later on - and I really don't like the idea of AJ-heads being empowered by bitcoin. Their critical capacity must have been severely disabled to start with (whether by Bible belt schooling, parenting or whatever) but their minds are seriously crippled by the BS they repeatedly listen to till till they actually believe it!

Guns is one thing.  Guns in the hands of the mindless is another.  Guns and Bitcoin wealth in the hands of the mindless is something to be truly scared of.

Long may Alex Jones continue to believe and preach Bitcoin is part of the NWO conspiring to... (fill in the blank).  Long may his followers stay the fuck away from Bitcoin!

Yes I can actually agree with this, at least the part of me that still is interested in Bitcoin rather than the drama surrounding it.

But on the other hand this community is filled with those types. So it's actually pretty much the same thing, the same thought process, and he is right that this is a cult. The way people are approached, the way I am constantly attacked for speaking out against that mentality, everything.
3880  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst :) on: April 14, 2013, 09:22:03 AM

I don't get it.

I mean I agree it's fraudulent market manipulation, but that shouldn't mean its a ponzi.
That would require something like themselves buying BTC with fake orders or something. That could actually be happening but I can't see any evidence for it.
