Merit sales, transfers to aliases, back-and-forth trading, etc. are not much of an issue. All illegitimate merit will decay, and will account for a tiny and very expensive fraction of the total merit economy. It's basically a rounding error; fight it where convenient, but waste no sleep over it.
I think that actmyname has been too hasty with some of his negatives, but I haven't had time to look carefully enough into it to justify making forceful changes. I did exclude actmyname from my trust list, so another DT1 could remove him from the default trust network by doing the same.
So what are you proposing that be done against shady behavior regarding the merit system? Nothing? Or are you simply saying that *we could/should* tag them, but that some of the tag's by actmyname were unwarranted?

are u from the support team?
No. Official forum/website admin and (thus, obviously) a reseller. and 1% daily means that if i start with 1btc after around 100 days i would have 2btc right?
Sounds about right. However, keep in mind that there is no *guarantee*. and is it safe to start with 1btc or its not safe or recommended?
I would recommend starting with less if you are one (or multiple) of the following: a) Newbie trader. b) Newbie to trading bots. c) Newbie to gunbot.

Thank you for your feedback! Maybe you can help me get a positive trust?
We just literally said that asking for positive trust = receiving negative trust. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) asking for/buying trust/reputation = untrustworthy behavior

I'm not talking about dumb answers but misinformation.
What exactly do you think is the difference between a "dumb answer" and "misinformation"? Please indulge me. "dumb answer" [Coinbase is the best wallet] off-topic, Spam and all wrong. "misinformation" [Blockchain.info is the best wallet] Uncertainty and Part of the information is wrong. Both of those answers are all wrong. Therefore, I don't see how you are trying to differentiate here. I don't think you should as the difference is minuscule, often non existing (in the context of those two sections).

hi everybody whats ur feedback on this bot?
With several thousand users, generally positive. I m going to buy a decent trading bot?
More like the de facto standard of trading bots. how many percent is your return with this bot?
On average, 1% daily with the defaults. More if you know what you are doing and properly customize your strategy. whats the price?
0.056 BTC single exchange licence. 0.106 BTC all exchanges + tradingview.

What do you think of these ideas?
Both are unnecessary and/or flawed. The problem that is present in those section, albeit to a weaker degree, stems elsewhere. Adding another complicated layer of stupid solutions will not help. What those sections actually need is the following: a) Stronger global moderation and more frequent bans for bullshit. b) Enable section-bans for the moderators who moderate those sections. So, once achow finds someone posting "Coinbase is the best wallet", he can just ban the user from posting in that section for a long time.

I think that there is one overlooked problem which needs to be addressed if we want forum quality to raise.
No. What are the low quality farmers doing when they understand that chance of them ranking up is close to zero? I believe that they just could start farming more accounts in order to compensate for their inability to rank up, thus generating more sh*t post than ever.
You lack common sense and any understanding for incentives of any kind. Once they realize that they are unable to rank up, thus unable to progress, thus unable to earn, there is a near-zero incentive to continue doing what they're doing. Otherwise there is no real way to prove or disprove my theory.
Your theory is fundamentally flawed. Empirical evidence is not needed to disprove it.

Stop critizising a system that did not even have time to create any effect whatsoever, let alone prove whether it actually works or not. Do merit system really make a difference in this forum?
It will make a difference. After a while, shitposters and whiners such as yourself will notice that they efforts are a waste of time and produce nothing. Therefore, they will gradually quit/stop and the place will become better. Definitely Yes jerry!
Wrong.

I gave you one of my sMerit because I though your reply was concise and relevant. I nearly didn't because I thought some members will say that I only did it because of your comments about me. I guess some of the comments by the charity workers here are starting to get to me. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Thank you very much. You have no idea how much motivation you just sent me. Honestly speaking A part of me is saying this is injustice. I am giving so much time to this community and in return they are evaluating me as a low ranked member. Just because I do not have merits (decision of individual most of the time they do not care) I can not see myself as a higher ranked member. Let me ask you what are you here for anyway? I'll answer that: Signature campaigns. Bounties. Shitposting. That's why the merit system isn't working for him/her. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

And what could I do?
Not harass someone via PM. That's what you could have done. Anyone in my place did the same.
Anyone who does that is going to get, deservedly, blocked.

Please tell me what should I do? How can I remove the red trust? actmyname does not accept my messages. To whom may I contact? Please give advice.
He's the only user who can remove your trust rating. But he doesn't listen to me. Blocked your personal message. I he can't write! Can you help me? If you had PM'd me that many times, I would have blocked you as well.

Week 9 - To be added (JAN 24- JAN 31)
Stop posting in this thread. Submissions are made only via the form. I will not add any submission made elsewhere. This has been said many times already. Google forms for reports are on the first page of this branch. If these people are so stupid. These are their problems. Those who perform all rightfully receive more steaks. Correct. This is the positive side effect of people not following the rules. It can be especially noted in the Twitter campaign that many are entering without actually reading the bounty thread. Therefore, the non qualifying entries are being invalidated. Ergo, people who enter properly will receive more rewards at the end of the campaign.

If someone were to buy merit to participate in a signature campaign (or otherwise), and are a crappy poster, they will either get banned, will not be hired to participate in a signature campaign, or both. The buying of merit would serve as somewhat of a non-refundable deposit allowing them to participate in a signature campaign.
Practice has shown that your theoretical reasoning is wrong. The forum is flooded with shitposters who: a) Are not banned. b) Are hired by crappy or non existing signature campaign managers.

Unfortunatly lauda does not have any intregrity.
Escrow scammers definitely do, and are in a position to judge other people's integrity. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

- It would be ideal to reach a consensus on how to cope with this problem.
From the user's side: Neg. rate the provider and everyone involved. From the forum's side: Ban all accounts involved.
|
|
|
More than anything, I really think it comes down to whether or not its typically acceptable to tag owners of multiple accounts with negative trust, just because they own multiple accounts. Second comes whether or not trading/selling merit is generally acceptable, and to what extents.
The general consensus between the remaining active DT members that do attempt to *improve* the forum (not the DT members that are active and don't really do anything in that regard) is yes. It was explained properly over here: untrustworthy behavior = negative tag asking for/buying trust/reputation = untrustworthy behavior buying accounts = trying to buy reputation begging for merit = trying to ask for reputation
These correspondences should be accepted by all members... but unfortunately, some do not view it this way (typically account traders).
Non malicious false positives are going to occur in pretty much every system. As long as the rate is very low, it is fine.

|
|
No. You do not need to really rank up much (especially not quickly) if you've come here for the right reasons. Stop whining because shitposters can't rank up.
I need to remember to never give OP any merit.
