Sure, i/we can help;

How much do you pay for your electricity?

Also where do you plan on putting the miners and how will you dump the heat?

I live in Ukraine. But I have an idea to come USA & start mining legally there.

So, there are electricity prices in Ukraine:
– <100 kW/h - 0,018 USD
–100<usage<600 kW/h 0,032 USD
– >600 kW/h 0,0592 USD

I have a garrage (maybe rent more bigger placement).
About you dump the heat, which ways are correct? Air conditioning?

Ideally, if it's worth it, I plan to rent (buy) bigger place for work of mining station (50 000$ or 100 000$), hire staff (3-5 persons).

I am intrested - what is profit in percentage per month, year.

Wow. Okay huh.

-No, no staff.
-No, no AC, dump the heat outside.
-In your Garage, will your neighbor complain if you generate noise about as loud as a train running in your backyard?
-0.06USD/kWh is fine

Look into S4/S5 Maybe S7.

Good to see I'm not the only one that thought it was crazy.   I think it's sad when threads are like this.  A person who likely could have had a successful personal bitcoin operation .... sees greed and want's to to 100 times bigger.

I think a lot of these think they are the first one to think of going big like that.... they arent.  I wonder if we will even see OP again I saw last login: Last Active:    November 30, 2015, 08:46:37 PM

To make it easier to find the 3rd post has the last set of picks. Figure it would be easier to get to during this period.

And after this period is over much easier to look in case anyone want's to see picks.   I figure also there will go if winner and how much.  Or if goes on to next period rollovers have made this one kinda fun.  If we get another rollover Phil is right we will get even more people to view maybe become regulars.

Yeah...be jealous:

...I'm gonna go cry in the corner now.  Cry

I wish I had enough money for even a decent USB hub with some bitmain or scrypt miners...but nah Sad  being a poor college kid is hard.

Can anyone give me advice - on if it's even worth the chance mining a certain coin with this crappy sha256 miner?

Anything REALLY super cheap I could buy so I'm not so pathetic?!

Define really super cheap?  I have a feeling anwser is no.  But not sure what figure you had in mind

As far mining with it... chances of hitting block are as you know very low.  And pool mining you won't reac min on most with it.  So it really is if your enjoying it as it's not going to pull a profit.
3884  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 04, 2015, 02:33:05 AM

I believe I'm doing what you are doing to inspect the rigs from now on with future batches.  Especially, after reading the WARNING here in the photo you provided.

Thanks for sharing...

Interesting for sure.  I like that they gave customer permission to open it and check.   That is much better then the don't touch policy.

Maybe they are changing for the better on warranty... or maybe to many were falling off.  Makes me wonder on number for them to send that letter with it.

I would like a rollover to draw more interest.  Prize will be .36 or so.

this looks like a 142 day  that is a small negative.

477 blocks left.  boy three

135 days would be really nice.

These huge drops do not make a lot of sense.

Some could be miners going from burn in area to final host like this was a few day's ago - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1072474.msg13029692#msg13029692 . Mr. Lee I think claimed 3 ph he was getting from Avalon.  So maybe unplug to send to destination.

And on bitmain S7 they should be shipping soon to.  So a lot of moving miners from one place to another.   We will see if they come back online soon.  Or what is happening.  Price went into 350's again... so not the right way but still no big dive.
3886  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what about scammer ? on: December 04, 2015, 01:30:13 AM
No relation between Bitcoin and scam, because simply the scammers use fiat and cash more than Bitcoin and scammers tried their operations before the creation of the bitcoin crypto currency as known

The fact is there are bad people no matter what money your dealing with.  Fiat or digital... there are people with greed.  Greed can make people do stupid things.

I don't think we can say one is worse then other on type.  Only thing is bitcoin some might think is worse due to media covering bad articles more then good.   Just the way most media works.

Biggest thing is if something sounds to good to be true, or too high of profit margin... chances are it is.
3887  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet? on: December 04, 2015, 01:26:53 AM
Best Bitcoin wallets according to me...

  • Bitcoin Core: Preliminary and basic wallet but you need to download the full 40GB or more node before using it for transactions.

  • Online wallet: Coinbase Vault (not the primary wallet), but you'll have to wait 48 hours before transferring the funds into the primary wallet and then using it for transactions. Pretty hectic right?

  • Offline wallet/Cold Wallet: Physical crypto-coins or Paper wallets generated from a virus-free and offline computer.

The wallet I use for daily transactions: Ledger Wallet HW.1

I think paper wallet and hardware are two I would suggest using most.  For long term storage they really are good ideas.  Both you are the owner of the private key... so you own it.  It makes me feel much more safe and sleep better at night.

I hate hearing when someone say's they have a lot in online wallet.  Worst is the ones they have no access to private key on online hot wallets.  Coinbase with insurance is a little different I would agree.

Just checking here: are you aware that they are worth more than the bitcoin on them as long as they are unredeemed?

I have seen them go for 3 and more btc on auctions (having 1 btc on them).

DO NOT OPEN THEM seriously shorena is giving you the best advice you could have.  If they are not redeemed you just got very lucky if you bought for the face value, there is a big collector market for them.

If they look like good quality look into the graded ones.  There are 2 main companies that do it.   But if you have a high grade coin it goes up even more.   So really your very lucky.  If I got one unredeemed I would get it graded then go to btc market on here.  Or if it appears not to have decent grade go straight to forum and not waste money on grading.
3890  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S7 and EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 proper cabling on: December 04, 2015, 01:00:00 AM
TL;DR first... Exactly what ports & adapters do I use on the EVGA 1300 to get to 10 PCIE connections since it only comes with wiring for 8 PCIE?

Now the longer version...

I just received my first miner the S7 (batch 6) and based on popular feedback got the the EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 power supply to go with it.  Now that I have everything I am curious which plugs I'm supposed to use on the PSU.  There are 6 red plugs labeled VGA, and various others labeled SATA, CPU, and PERIF.  I see various posts saying to use PCI-E splitters (PCIEXSPLIT6 6-Inch PCI Express Power Splitter Cable) and/or molex adapters (LP4 to 6 Pin PCI Express Video Card Power Cable Adapter), but wanted to make sure I'm using the appropriate combination to avoid issues.  It's too expensive of a machine to take a trial and error approach.

I know that the VGA ports are the PCI-E ports so my assumption is that I'm either supposed to use the 6 VGA plugs with several splitters or possibly a combination of the 6 VGA plugs and the two PERIF plugs with molex adapters.  I just want some confirmation or validation on the best approach to using this power supply without the risk of overloading the PSU or wires.

For what it's worth I am in the US and I currently have my setup running to a dedicated 20 amp circuit that I ran with 12 gauge wire, but it's only running with 2 boards since that's all I could get running safely without starting to use splitters.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.  I really appreciate all the posts I've been reading on this forum to get me as far as I've gotten having only started this yesterday.

I already deployed several S7 with this combo: S7 plus EVGA 1300 G2 plus two 18 awg PCIE split cables. I am not sure that there is a need for 12 awg, unless you talk about the power cord, and even then. See the link (at the bottom of the page).
http://www.rowand.net/Shop/Tech/WireCapacityChart.htm

I did not know who on this forum sells them (>=18 awg) for $2.5 shipped, so i bought mostly from Jacobs parts (Amazon) for $3.95 shipped.
There are four single headed PCIe (red) cables in EVGA, so I connected splitters to two of those, making a total of 10 necessary connections, then balance the load as i see fit. I described it somewhere around here. Essentially, I put either original double heads or singles at position 1 and 2 and put split connectors in position #3 in all three rows, then fourth connector (out of four split "heads") went to controller. This seems to work OK so far (knock on wood) with B1 deployed in this fashion for ~2mo.

The big thing there is the quality of the splitters.  People need to make sure they don't just go out and buy from local store with horrible guage splitter.

I've had only 1 PSU melt and it was a "bargin" psu with a cheap splitter.  So be very careful if you don't know what your doing and are splitting cables.  If you don't know just getting the Bitmain PSU is easiest option.

I also like the EVGA 1300 very high quality.  But on S7 if you have 220/240 the bitmain psu is kinda the simple way.

Your getting WAY to far ahead of yourself.   So many do this they add up... if I get X miners.... I could be huge!

You are pretty new look into starting slow.  If you cannot handle 1k for a lotto machine you cannot handle a big operation there is much more then that in operation costs when starting.

I highly suggest start looking into mining for yourself.  But at this point don't go trying to get other people to rent, or send you gear.   There is a lot to read for example standard AC would never work large scale asic data centers and server data centers are very different.
3892  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Nov 11 to Dec 11 SIDEHACK compac stick pool club. New run. on: December 04, 2015, 12:46:15 AM
It's 100% chance/luck, there is no correlation.

More sticks = more hash = more chances at a higher share.

Thanks for reply and sorry for delay, I've been tinkering Wink. Yes that's what I thought, what's happened doesn't seem like that though Huh.

I'm now running a test. I have 3 sticks on old DDR2 pentium dual core 4GB system with Anker USB 3.0 powered hub and 3 sticks on newer DDR3 i7 quad core 8GB system with Orico USB 2.0 hub.

All are running @ 300MHz.

Let's see how they do Smiley. I'm guessing the faster pc should help the sticks to a higher share because of data transfer rate but could be wrong, I usually am Cheesy.

I wish I would have kept 1 Orico usb hub back in the day.  They really were amazing quality and not a ton of hubs are metal.

Right now I'm using powered hubs I had in project area.  They were low priced and good for the money.  So I cant complain to much.  I would highly suggest looking into a RPI.  The fact of running on almost no electricity is nice.  Also they hold price pretty decent so one day you can sell the RPI if you needed money.  Just a lot of projects use them so keeps market up.

Out of curiosity what is our current percentage of hitting a block? On average?  I'm just curious I realize it's low but wondered in overall scheme.  But nice compacs are great running on low electricity.
3893  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Europe reseller/seller on: December 04, 2015, 12:32:03 AM
i dont think my wall plugs can handle that. i think the mac i can pull is around 2500w

One  S5+ Cube  is 2.55 TH/s and 1200W max   0.445W/Ghs

It's not a bad miner at all I have had good luck with my S5+.  - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1157426.0

I would check what is your source off "free" electricity? Is it parents? Or more like apartment with set amount?  I just have highly different advice depending on situation.
3894  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Advice on setting up a personnal farm on: December 04, 2015, 12:24:17 AM

My advice is to make sure how much electricity you have.  It would be important not to overbuy on gear.   i would advice on electricity run 240 to save cables, also it's much nicer to have all that power there if you need it.

Also ventelation you will need to find some way to cool it down.  With winter for a lot it will help a lot.  But be aware cooling down the mining area most likely is needed.

Sage advice. I over bought equipment on my first mine and was shocked at the heat output of just 10kW.

There is a lot to be said for doing it in smaller batches.  Do X amount run it for a at least a few day's to week then order more.  Repeat until your happy with number, or you can't handle more.

Going from 0 to a lot is just a major undertaking.   Only reason to do it is if your ordering so much you got a discount (most do not fit into this).    My summer it was a lot of trial/error.  I had to much and kept adding things to help with air flow till I was good.   Would have been much easier on myself to do smaller a few times.
It was much harder to maintaining the air flow when we were using GPUs to mine bitcoins. Good old days.

I disagree or it might be I just went bigger with asics... although I was decent size on GPU's.   GPU's I had a lot of little fans, and AC in some rooms (yes AC I was new and using it to).

Then go to summer mining with ASICs now I was using lots of CFM's of fans.  Had to buy a industrial exhust.  upgraded some vents to help air leave.  I consider my area a "hobby" not "home" miner.   I do still put one like I did with Avalon 6 in house right now so I can relate to home mining.  But having a area for just miners is much nicer.

Sadly a big nice fan died... even though it's winter I went and got another one and am going to try warranty on other. Hopefully I have a extra after they fix it (I hope) the store could have cared less on the year warranty after 3 months you go to manufacturer according to them so that's one thing I will be doing.
3895  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: s7 with loose heatsink, fix in house or send back to china on: December 03, 2015, 11:15:37 PM
contact bitmaintech  and send the board in.

ask if they will  give you  a coupon to help make up for dead board.

you can sell the coupon or use it.

Also ask before doing any in house fixes.  With their warranty anymore if you open up and attempt to fix it voids warranty.  So if they can tell you did some fix... it might cost you in long run.  But it does not hurt to ask them, they might say yes go ahead and try.  Just get it in email or ticket on permission before doing it.

But ask them what to do on it.  And Phil is right for sure ask for coupon, bitmain has been kinda stingy on coupons anymore but it's worth a shot.
3896  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Europe reseller/seller on: December 03, 2015, 10:36:52 PM
I am in US only Europe one I used was - https://www.bitshopper.de/ .  It was to get a Europe compac model. It was a nice addition to my collections.

One thing to keep in mind is when you look at Europe resellers the Vat/Import tax is pretty high so miners sell for higher.  One thing you might look into is hosting center somewhere without the vat unless you have a extremely cheap or "free" electricity plan.

A 20 percent or so vat can make it hard to ROI in some cases.
3897  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 03, 2015, 10:32:37 PM
Sometimes I get a good question in my PM's.  In this case Cyper_BLC noticed some hashing boards on the internet showing 36 chips.

I want to thank Yan from BlockC for a very quick response.  The Avalon 6 has 80 chips total or 40 per blade depending on how you like to look at it.   This is the production model.

Any pictures of 36 chips on a board are actually from prototypes and not the production model.   So there are pictures out there but do not fear you are getting the 80 chip version with your order.

Which is the best mining pool @ this moment?Antpool?i'm living in Belgium.
Thanks

This roughly shows by popularity - https://blockchain.info/pools .  You can look at ones that are public and decide what kind of mining you want to do.  There is a good amount of different pay's when it comes to payout.

But there are many good pages on this, and also the pools forum i suggest looking there.  You can find a lot of good info from each forum and help support for them.

Slightly different topic while I'm waiting on my Avalon 6 to arrive.  Anyone here have experience with Minergate?  Is it even worth our time still to use CPU for mining with that technology to gain other Crypto currency and then convert back to Bitcoin?

This is really a forum for BTC and a device that mines BTC.

You have a valid question but this is not really the place (I would list a anwser it if was small but it varies greatly).  But I suggest hitting up the  altcoin's discussion forum.   I can tell you CPU mining is dead.  But the anwser overall is a lot bigger question/anwser.
