3881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT has code which downloads your IP address to facilitate blacklisting on: August 29, 2015, 09:38:23 PM
If you modify the code and recompile it, then try to run it. Are you sure it will work? Because usually when you change the code, it cause a fork.

wtf?

This is why stupid FUD got everywhere due to parrots.

Are you not understanding what i am saying? If you take the source and modify the code, its not the same coin anymore. So unless the IP list is exempted...

Oh i didnt know that, thanks for telling me.

Nobody should argue with you now, they must not understand this.

But regardless, you can disable to "DDoS protection" for your node by using a flag. And i also think they released a candidate with absolutely no code except BIP101. So this shouldn't be an issue anymore.

Haha indeed. Hearding cat. Thats more or less doable, its more getting them together by throwing food at one spot. And food here is cash.

3884  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 30 Antminer S5 Units 1.45 BTC each (Only Canada) on: August 29, 2015, 09:27:38 PM
Changed the price from 340 USD to 1.45 BTC/S5 miner.

Heading the right way. Specially with the S7 now announced.

Could you estimate Shipping to J8T 1S8?

They would still have to be discounted a bit more to take into account the 50% lower power consumption of the S7. Essentially the cost per TH between the S5 and S7 is the same so there is no reason to buy S5s if you can get S7 for the same $ and get the bonus lower power consumption. The only advantage I see with these miners is that you'll potentially have them hashing sooner than S7s.

Indeed, i would need them to be 250$ each to be better in a 6 months plan than the S7s. And i have dirt cheap electricity too. I will wait for now. I would be surprised if i can't see S5's for sub 300$ soon from people gathering funds for S7s.

Sound like a plan, sidehack. But if you add leds, which could be useful, i hope you put one that are dim. The lightshow on the S1's is kind of ridiculous xD

Wow thats pretty beast. I had guessed 4btc for a 600w factor unit, turn out its a double factor. 8btc for 1200w. Thats too bad i was hoping for something more bite sized. I guess i'll try to get some S5s that'll drop instead of getting a S7.

P.S.:I think you lost my pick? Not that it matters at all since there's no way -0.01% to -0.25% is going to be right. I guess we're going to see a steady +% for a while, until we cap the new gen.

I will fix it.  I got real busy this week.

Thanks, but it will clearly not effect who the victor will be. ^_^"

I'll probably be selling my S4s and S4+s soon if anyone is interested. Located in Montreal.

Thanks for the screen. Doesn't overclocking the unit overload the PSU?

Also the temps are surprisingly low, are you able to lower the fan speed to reduce noise?
3889  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Speculate the correct date of S7 on sale at Bitmaintech and get 0.1 btc on: August 29, 2015, 05:10:56 PM
Congrats to the winner, whoever that is. But we could wait until the S7 actually come on sale, since at the moment the sales is greyed out. Unless it just got bought up instantly?
3890  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: August 29, 2015, 05:09:14 PM
No problem, thank you for your answer. I somehow didn't imagine your boards would come with USB connectors.
That would do nicely, as plugging all of those in a USB hub and putting that in a RasPI or a old PC would be fairly convenient.

And if your board report temp, they could all be controlled as a single unit. So it could make managing the boards simple enough.

Well you said we'd have to rig up a controller. We can't reuse the current controllers by flashing it or such?

If not, then, there's that project to run antminer PCBs on USB, so a RasPi would become the ideal controller. Or a spare PC. But regardless, i don't know how to plug PCBs strait to USB.

Do my concerns make more sense now?
3893  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Vote BIP100 on: August 29, 2015, 04:35:59 PM
XT is out
Core is good enough for now...
Sidechains are cool, but dont yet exists
So all we need is to "kick the can down the road" so to speak
Just a little longer, Just a little longer
BIP100 allows miners to do just that,
in a predictable as needed basis.

This seems to imply that BIP100 is somehow still Bitcoin Core.  BIP100 is not core either. BIP100 doesn't actually exist right now, there is no implementation in any client.  Until it actually gets merged into Bitcoin core, it's no different than BIP101 requiring a separate client implementation like BIP101 and XT.

Naw Core is good enough -> "For now". ("Thus lets aim at BIP100, because Core is only good for a limited amount of time.")

Was my interpretation anyways. Its still indeed a bit vague.
3894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT has code which downloads your IP address to facilitate blacklisting on: August 29, 2015, 04:34:15 PM
They really should have kept the difference between XT and Core the same EXCEPT the size limit. This Mike Hearn guy seems to get everybody's feathers ruffled on a regular basis like he's feeding on the fallout.

You asked, they delivered. Core + BIP 101 only.

https://www.reddit.com/r/bitcoinxt/comments/3hsc3f/bitcoinxt_with_just_the_patch_for_big_blocks_only/

I guess they caught on the people's mood. I'd still go for BIP100 now, but with this we could stop the XT Flaming.

Sidehack, there's no way to reuse the S1/S3 board somehow? We'd have to rig up some PCB to USB and slap it on a RasPi?

Can we stop the flaming and perhaps give me a healthy screenshot as requested yesterday? Smiley

I am supposed to come into possession of a S4 shortly. Anything i should check out first before accepting the trade?

Can anyone post a screenshot of the Miner Status dashboard so that i can see rpm/HWE%?

Novak heated part of his house last winter with an AM Tube. I kept my entire apartment comfortably above freezing with a Dragon, S3-supplemented when necessary. Previous winter the house and shop were warmed substantially by AM Cubes and S1. Pretty handy.

yup, why run a space heater when you can run gear and make BTC aside from keeping warm.

but sobe-it, where can you get a miner for $20 and spit out 700W of heat?!
wait.. ebay, time to get the ye'ol Block Eruptor Cube..

don't need to try to find a miner for $20 when you already have them.

well my foot heater doesn’t do mining.. it just burns resistors, 2 New-R-Box's did the job on keeping the room 3 degrees warmer but they lasted long.
all i have left running now is a single U3.

Antminers S1 are considered obsolete for many. That or S3's would probably do the job fairly well. Specially with the incoming hardware dump with the S7 more or less in sight.
