I am pretty new to bitcoins and this thread is extremely useful!

Thanks for handing out bitcoins to some of the new users Portnoy.  Here is my address:

1Nkof7C1Au9qpAhv41DGhwAHf2o7Ajnu2R

I try to click on advertising links with the free bitcoin links.  I figure if I'm getting something for free I may as well and return the favor to the sites.

I just filled out some of these, and indeed got 2 of them within 24 hours. But how do I know who sent them?
You should use different address for every site and label them to know which site payed you Smiley

And while you are generating new addresses for each service, do one and post it here to be included in the Daily Free Newbie Lotto.   Wink
I was actually just trying out my luck, was quite surprised they actually did sent them out. I filled several sites and got only 2 valid, perhaps maybe a few more are expecting delays? Will try a new address for each site and report back.

The more people checking these sites the better. Thanks.

Hi
I'm new here, could you please add me to your Database.
my receiving address is:

thanks in advance!

Added...  Welcome and good luck!

I don't know how often you do these test runs, but my address is 1JBXDbc5DEN65syn8xXfeeEZfWURZ1pL4 if you ever run out :-)

Some of the sites reported that address had already been used today... so anybody who wants to post an address for me to potentially use
you should make sure it isn't one you yourself use at these sites.   Wink

If it isn't any trouble, I would like to change my address to 1Cx3eXTneiHpSrjVTU2WmFGXDumy8VZ56f in your database. As you can see, I'm trying to make good use of your list :-) thank you very much for maintaining it. I check it all the time to see if anyone is opening up any new faucets.

No problem.  DB updated.
3886  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will bitcoins double soon? on: November 12, 2012, 03:05:22 AM
just a few months ago BTC was $5 now it is > $10 I think a lot of the market has already factored in the reward halving

remember also the market sets price - not miners

+1

It was stable at the $5 plateau for quite a while through the spring and then over the summer moved up to another plateau roughly twice that level,
no doubt due, at least in part, to anticipation of the reward halving. From this new plateau, where we currently are, it is perhaps just as likely to turn
down as to keep going up...  if people are expecting it to double from where it is at now, and it doesn't, then it may be more likely to move down
for a time before coming back up.

And with the whole ASIC stuff expected to be coming out soon it is really anyone's guess...
the only certainty is uncertainty.       Wink

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel, that every place pay out so little now, compared to before, that you don't feel like it is worth your time anymore?

No it isn't just you. It is a question that often comes up.

Here is my reply when it came up on an earlier occasion.   Smiley

One of the websites I visit just recently started accepting Bitcoins and your thread has helped me figure out where to get them, so I want to thank you for that. So far, I've only got around 0.001 BitCoins, but it's a start. Anyways, I'd like to join the Lotto too:

Edit: Used a new address so that I could use my current one for myself.

Thank you.

Okay, so I managed to win on bitcoin.so, but there weren't enough funds in it to send, does it save the address and send it whenever there are enough funds or was it essentially a loss?

Oh and about this question...  yes, I'm pretty sure, if you play it when there is less than 0.01 BTC available you will not be paid later, so don't bother filling out any of the fields and submitting it.

New Lotto started. For more information about the Daily Newbie Lotto see here.
3891  Economy / Micro Earnings / Daily Free Newbie Lotto on: November 11, 2012, 02:11:21 AM
Here is how this new lotto will work.

If you are a newbie1 and you make a comment in this thread, even if it is just to say "thanks" or "hello", include a bitcoin address in the main
area of the post, or explicitly point to it in your signature ( don't PM me or make me search for it ), and I will number it and add it to a database.

If you need a Bitcoin address and a place to store your Bitcoin, and/or to buy and sell it: Coinbase

Every time I do my check on these free bitcoin sites ( usually daily ) I will use a random number generator to pick one entry from that
database and use that address in the check of the sites for that particular day2.

Your address will stay in the database and have a chance of being chosen in every draw ( usually daily ).
One address per account please. I will reply to your post to confirm that I have added it to the database.

Update:
Now that the newbie lotto is six months old the number of total entries will be capped at 900 ( it is just a little above that now, so I will make that the cap instead of 1000 as I was considering before ).

That means that for every new entry, from now on, the oldest entry in the db will be removed.  That will also mean that once you enter the lotto you should be in the database and eligible to win everyday ( even if you have won already you will stay in the db ) for at least six months ( depending on how many people enter. The number of entries seems to be slowing down so one will probably be in the db for longer than six months ).

Make sure to submit an address that you will not be using in your own daily check of these sites or else it may be rejected by
many of these sites, if you happen to win, since most of these sites don't allow the same address to be submitted more than
once on the same day.

Here is the contents of the db so far ( This is an example of how it looks right now. I won't come back to this post to update this list
but just update the database itself ):

1 karlzt    1E9gnhT4DY1gPxDFNg1ptR3Z5RCzmGchJr
2 textish    1N8pBiXqLPD27y2v2od44PM7daLXsLqfde
3 jonflow   1JBXDbc5DEN65syn8xXfeeEZfWURZ1pL4
4 bachus   1o1zuero29orZxs8CsZ2Gzep5NPFT463a
5 KB5988   1EHozR4b2HWAfkGYp7kdcGEXyL82vbJZmR

If you aren't on that list and feel you should be I hope you will know how to get added.   Wink
If you are on the list and would like to be removed just let me know in this thread or by PM.

Any questions or suggestions?

--

1 I will try not to be too strict in the definition of "newbie"... I hope something like common sense will prevail and someone who has been here
for months and posted hundreds of times will understand the spirit of this as being to welcome and help out new members of the community,
and so will not apply. But as a general rule any forum account over six months will not be considered newbie. And if you have more than one
account here ( sock puppets ) please only use one to join this lotto.

2 I won't use the chosen address in hourly checks of sites that give out BTC hourly. Just one check per site and if the site happens to be
down or rejects the address for any reason that will just be that address owner's bad luck... next time that address gets chosen, and there
is a good chance of that with so few entries so far, you may have better luck.  Also some sites give out MTGox codes or require sign-ups or
downloads etc... I won't use the chosen address for sites like that. Also I won't be able to use the chosen address on sites that require
multiple submissions on multiple occasions before a payout is sent ( e.g. sites that use coinbox.me ).

This contest may change or be discontinued at any time. I will try to announce ahead of time if something like that happens.

Brand new address just for you Smiley 1o1zuero29orZxs8CsZ2Gzep5NPFT463a

added to my database...

And woot, 0.031 BTC in 10 minutes from the sites (including bitcoin.so)!

As well, thanks again for maintaining this list Portnoy. If you ever run out of newbies giving you addresses, feel free to use the one in my signature. Wink

Thanks, and you are new enough I will add your address too...

I will explain this new daily newbie lotto thing in a separate post below...

Btw, to any newbies reading this, feel free to include your bitcoin address if you make any comment in this thread.
You never know when someone might send a little BTC to it.    Wink

I may randomly copy one to use in my daily check of these faucet sites.

I used the addresses from karlzt and textish for my last two checks...  I will use yours for my next.   Smiley

Bitcrate has been refilled.

And the address I grabbed from the posts in this thread got one of the larger payouts from it...  Smiley

Our site has just begun giving bitcoins away. Here's the thread with the announcement here on Bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=123420.0

freebitcoins.appspot.com  is infinitely "being fixed".

Thanks for the input.  Gavin is perhaps working on more pressing matters.   Wink

I disagree with this view:
"Their (sic) is no such thing as people working for the common good."

I feel that Bitcoin itself is an example that refutes that.

Does anybody buy the CoinURL vouchers ?

What do you do with the vouchers if you happen to get one from DailyBitcoins.org ?

Spend them with referral links.

Didn't you say you would buy them?

And I bought a few, but I don't need more for now.

Okay, thanks.  I have no use for them so I won't bother trying to win any.
