You must be Jr. Member or higher.

If its showing in the overview here[1] (it does) you did nothing wrong and the pictures will be shown directly once your activity reaches 30.

3902  Other / Meta / Re: Watchlist - Wrong sorting on: December 23, 2015, 08:10:24 PM
I found another "weird" behaviour with the "mark all messages as read" option, not sure I should create a different topic just for this, but here it goes:

"Watchlist" (having multiple pages) -> "mark all messages as read" = All topics from 1st page are marked as read, as the url specifies all topics that should be marked as read.
"Show new replies to your posts." (having multiple pages) -> exactly same behaviour as the above.
"Show unread posts since last visit." (having multiple pages) -> "mark all messages as read" = ALL topics are marked as read. (url does not specify which topics should be marked as read).

I'm not sure if this is supposed to work like this, but it's the main reason I prefer "Watchlist" over "Show unread posts since last visit.", nowadays.

Please dont(!) fix that. I was really happy when I once had 10+ page one my watchlist that I could only mark a few very old as read. Took me a while to be brave enough, because I suspected all would be marked as read.
3903  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How far does that green line go? on: December 23, 2015, 08:06:05 PM
So here I am at MacD in Leigh Park, and I got a free cup of coffee with part of my bean collection. It's not as strong as my usual MD, and there are any power points. But the WiFi seems to be much faster, I'll take a screen shop when I've got a full picture.

You recently said you wanted to look for hosting. I dont think this is needed. You could just create a thread dedicated to the topic in e.g. tech support[1] (its the bitcoin core section) and updated it as you go. Pictures could be on imgur or something similar.

It was interesting at first. I couldn't log onto the web, and I didn't get a splash page. I loaded Bitcoin core and it sync'd without any problems. When I eventually got access to the web, it sent me a splash page, and now I can post. So what is the significancy of this?

Not sure, but I would guess that the server handling the authentication was unreachable and that they dont filter ports besides http(s).

Well, if you don't get the splash page, then my guess is that it hasn't authenticated your account. So anything off the web will be completely anonymouse. Obviously it can't read cookies if it can't load web pages - is this true? It's so long since I did any web design, that I can't remember.

Not sure if they log this, but the router will know your Mac-Address, which is -unless you spoof it- unique for your device. They should not be able to access your cookies, no.

3904  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Active Connections on: December 23, 2015, 06:34:03 PM
I only have 3 active connections to Bitcoin network when syncing, how do I increase this? Bit of a noob so exact guide would be perfect, thanks.

Will this 3 connections increase with time? Say it is 3, but after one day it will increase to 5, then 8 after 2 days?

You usually have 8 connections even durring sync. There are enough nodes on the network that allow outside connections, no need to wait 2 days.
3905  Other / Meta / Re: New spamming bot(different post style, and yeah had to make this thread) on: December 23, 2015, 06:26:46 PM
It is annoying, and I try to help mexxer-2 report them since I am on here a lot more lately. I kind of wish there was still email verification required for new accounts which would curb some of it perhaps. I almost miss the post restrictions that newbies had when I first came here. :/

The amount of spam is something different, yes.

From 26.11.2015 to 22.12.2015 I wrote 1000 reports, I assume most if them just read "spam". Staff seems to handle them just fine though, only rarely I see a post older than 10-15 minutes.
3906  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: bter.com wallet doubling 10BTC at the time on btc2x.com on: December 23, 2015, 06:10:15 PM
I found out something really strange: I don't know if this is the right forum board to post this but I don't know where to start the thread.

I withdrew all my funds from bter and I received them from this wallet as usual
17o5zDFGNvP5H2iWd7aWbhacwS1HKDE4i9
I started looking at this wallet recent transactions and I found out there are recurrent transaction of 10 BTC going back and forth from wallets connected to the dobuling bitcoin site btc2x.com

What is happening then? I don't know, but I have some ideas.

https://blockchain.info/address/17o5zDFGNvP5H2iWd7aWbhacwS1HKDE4i9

Another user or the person operating btc2x has a wallet with bter.com? Its a shared wallet after all, which makes it easy to just disappear once the ponzi collapsed.
3907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Incoming connections on mainnet but not testnet on: December 23, 2015, 06:06:04 PM
I'm brand new at this. I installed Bitcoin Core for Windows (10) and let it download the blockchain for a while. I set up my router to pass ports 8333 and 18333 to the right computer, and I was getting incoming connections.

Then I abandoned the download of the real blockchain, and tried running on the testnet. I did this by altering the target in my desktop shortcut properties to read:

"C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -testnet -port=18333

I do not have any incoming connections. I tried testing with this command at the command at the command prompt of another computer:

telnet <my ip on the external side of my router> 18333

I got a blank screen, which is what I think I should get.

Any ideas?

Geber

Testnet has not that many nodes coming up trying to establish a connection. IIRC I never had outbound connections on testnet either. Its working perfectly fine on the regular network though (19 in currently).

I only run a testnet node for a short amount of time though, maybe you will get some after a while.

Lost you there for a minute, but I get it now. Seems so, I'd inform about this to the admins though, but well seeing as the new forum might be coming in a few months, and that (lets be honest) no one uses Watch-list, I'd not be sure that it will be fixed anytime soon

How do you follow anything here without a watchlist? No one uses it, preposterous!
I never miss a thread/post because of "Show unread posts since last visit. " , I am omnipresent(in this context, always online)
Seriously though, there's the Bitcointalk script and "Show new replies to your posts." that majority use.

Thats >500 posts for me, my watchlist is only ~50. I never sort it though so I never had the issue micaman has.

It looks like its working though if the link is manually replaced.

hi shorena,Can you help me restore my account has been stolen ?
name: Altynbekova
btc address: 16DGWwDyKcd4jsig7ehvTkeLmVTmebduAy
email: lalurizkirno@gmail.com
and everything has been replaced.

No, only admins can do that. They usually require a signed message though. If the guides above are not helping, let me know which wallet software/service you use. I can check whether they allow signing and make a guide is possible.

Something is wrong with his activity info.. ?

I have a small chance now as well.
You have an equal and Random chance .

Quote
Legendary:   Activity: the Legendary membergroup has no universal activity requirement.
You are guaranteed to become Legendary somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity,
but the exact point in this range at which you become Legendary is random per user.
Gets 5 gold coins under his name of which the last is half dark blue.

Did he delete lots of posts?  That is main thing I can think of that would have brought activity down.

But to go from 1134 to 867 is a big drop.   But account is from June 25, 2011 so could have a high potential activity.
He didn't deleted the recent one's i guess but maybe the very old posts ? If it has 1050 potential then he is already a Legend.
(or) was a counting mistake ?

They never had that much activity, but they could have.

And, yes my chance is the same for every point of activity, but if you are at 1008 chances are higher than if you are at e.g. 784

Mprep has made a moved post already, that does count as a normal post so I guess you should remove the asterix.
BTW doesn't 100% probability mean you have to hit it, according to maths?
Edit: Mprep or Lincoln6Echo are probably dethrone the Unluckiest legendary guy(who was it again?)

Thanks fixed.

Yes, if Mprep had not hit it now, next period they would be 100% legendary. Same for Lincoln6Echo, when they have unlocked their potential activity they are easily legendary. Its just a matter of posts.

All hail our new legendary overlord Mprep.

I knew what was going to happen. Shorena could you update that 'prediction' post? e.g. I want to know what my chances are to reach it with 994 activity.

Was already updated, just forgot to change the act value.

I guess steveds is correct I have a small chance now as well.

Awesome Thread!
@shorena: Please add me to the list Cheesy Can't wait to get legendary status!

Until I get legendary status I am calling it a scam. Theymos is scamming us all with this elusive status. I better get mine before Mitchell.

Well, I guess you can't complain anymore. Mitchell is still hero. Tongue

I added you, but according to http://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/ your potential activity is 1120, so all you need is post.

3920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Testnet bitcoin value? on: December 22, 2015, 02:55:24 PM
I just ran across this thread and I have to verify, these coins are there for the purpose of testing newly designed sites?  If so, why are there faucets which you can collect them and what is the point of collecting them?   Thanks for answering the questions in advance.
The point of testnet is to test new software that uses bitcoin without actually using anything of value. It is also used for experimenting with the network. It prevents people from losing money while they are experimenting.

The point if faucets is to distribute testnet coins so that people can use them for testing. Generally people should and will return the testnet coins to the faucet so that others can use them too.

Can you paste some links to such faucets please?

-> https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Testnet#Faucets

Just let me know your address and I can send you some as well. What are you testing btw?
