3921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: OpenSea hacked for $780,000 on: January 27, 2022, 01:07:41 PM
It seems that the platform has contained the matter and paid the amount instead of jeopardizing its reputation. Such events would resonate if it was for many individuals and not for one user.
The problem is that the existence of such vulnerabilities will cause people to believe that the technology has been hacked (ETH blockchain) and not the fault of the platform.

Also, the delay in correcting the bug is not a good indicator, so the average user should not keep the money in the platform for a long time.

Generally, it is good to hide such news for the industry as a whole but it is bad for OpenSea users.
3922  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Looking to install crypto related mobile apps in my laptop. on: January 27, 2022, 10:01:30 AM
Why not buy a cheap phone, root it, remove all apps and install certain apps, blocking physical internet access? Or a cheaper option to buy a hardware wallet?

i found myself obligated to use several mobile apps just to test some services for once.

Why do you need to test the services once?
Even buying a phone and preventing it from connecting to the Internet is better than installing android simulator on the computer that is always connected to the Internet.

In general, you can get an Android system suitable for computers (Remix OS or Android-x86) and then modify BIOS to boot from it next to your main operating system[1] [2].

Anyway In brief:

 - Download Remix OS from the official site.
 - Launch the Remix OS.
 - Install it to the hard drive and Reboot.

3923  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there still opportunity here for lower rank? on: January 27, 2022, 09:32:46 AM
You have a long journey ahead. Good signature campaigns have become highly rated people who have merits and share useful content for the community. Therefore, developing yourself will be the beginning that you will benefit from personally before benefiting from the financial return.

The price of Bitcoin is now low and we may not go down further so until then investing any surplus money would be a smart idea.
Getting merits is not difficult, you just got 4 Merits.
3924  Economy / Exchanges / Re: KYC and Beard, asking for a friend. on: January 27, 2022, 09:07:26 AM
As I understand they will improve their face recognition software or have an alternative way to do the KYC when the picture in the documents differs with the your current look in terms of facial hair.
I don't think "soon" means "soon" because several months ago they enforced ID verification and therefore should have invested in updating their KYC system quickly.
Most likely they rely on third party applications or any tool as I don't think they are serious about identity verification and therefore would not invest in it to be accurate.
Also, I think that your friend should update his ID picture quickly because he may face problems at the airport or points where identity verification is more.
3925  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Privacy is not a crime, learn to do it yourself (DIY) on: January 27, 2022, 08:49:16 AM
Privacy is a valuable thing. From the moment you start communicating, you lose a part of that value.

Just when you connect to the Internet, you lose some privacy and you have to learn that a small mistake may lead to revealing your identity.
It is impossible to anonymize if all the parties in the world want to track you and put sufficient financial resources for that, but the enjoyment of privacy earns you additional value.

Almost all free applications collect data about you and therefore you should know how to protect your privacy.

In Bitcoin, unless you are running a full node, connecting using Tor and VPN does not log your data, you are at the lowest level of privacy no matter what wallet you use.

Next comes disabling JavaScript data and accessing a lot of untrusted sites.

In general, in terms of security and privacy, you mentioned a good point, which is the keyboard. In touch screens, these tools collect, record and analyze a lot of data, which happened to me in the morning, when I noticed the predictive text has become of high accuracy.
3926  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [warning] Vulnerability in all major Linux distros gives full root privileges. on: January 27, 2022, 08:33:27 AM
I did not understand the content of the article accurately, but as I understood it, it gives root privileges for an ordinary user, and therefore it is an account based problem (privileges to unprivileged user.)
Meaning that it will be affected by devices with multiple access or for several people and not for the average user with a single account.

In general, all systems are vulnerable to hacking, and Bitcoin provides the user with the advantage of generating keys without the need to connect to the Internet, which means that most of these bugs will not effect (if the user is able to physically remove all communication parts)
3927  Economy / Speculation / Re: Block Rewards when Bitcoin hits $1M on: January 26, 2022, 12:20:21 PM
If, and when Bitcoin reaches a FIAT value of $1M one would assume the cost to mine a single coin would be quite high otherwise everyone would be doing it. Who then would be able to afford the cost every 10 minutes, and would this "cost to mine" be a sum of the costs of all miners?

When Bitcoin reaches that value, mining hardware will develop and thus consume less electricity.
Research on renewable energy will have reached its peak, and therefore we will find more options that are cheaper and less harmful to the environment.

Bitcoin mining is a profit-related activity. Whenever it is profitable, the number of miners will increase and vice versa, and therefore mining will continue as long as people continue to use Bitcoin and as long as Bitcoin has value (certainly it will have value if the market capacity is 20 trillion)

This is a chart of solar energy costs for the past ten years.

3928  Economy / Economics / Re: Overseing health and environmental impact of high energy required in Bitcoin on: January 26, 2022, 12:08:52 PM
I do not know why there is a link between Bitcoin and the carbon footprint, as Bitcoin mining requires energy from whatever source, and the continuation of research may lead us to create devices that cost less energy, and renewable energy sources will be more.

The problem of energy is global, and when more research and other things are done, we will find that the voices calling for mining problems will be reduced.

In general, the media has a role in this misconception, in the past it was linked between Bitcoin and dark activities, now it is linked to wasting electricity.
3929  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: LastPass 1Password Security Crypto Challenge + Bounty on: January 26, 2022, 11:56:33 AM
If the purpose of the topic is to know if LastPass/1Password can be hacked, it is better to assume that and therefore do not give a lot of information to such services.
In general, there are two aspects that must be distinguished, the first is privacy and the second is privacy.

If you are not interested in privacy, add a password in your brain, for example, xcvbvv, with the first three word of the service as to Facebook, xcvbvvfab, with the password that is stored in such services, which will provide you with additional protection.

But if you're talking about privacy, it's best to stay away from LastPass/1Password service, assume that it can be hacked and run self-hosted password manager.
3930  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CMC + StakingRewards + Masternode + Mining Calculations + Defi List on: January 26, 2022, 11:37:15 AM
The problem is not technical, but how you will get prices, update averages, and then take advantage of the data then analyze it to get perfect results with an attractive user interface.

Ranking coins according to market capacities is misleading and therefore finding better arrangements would be ideal.

I also believe that:

 - Speed of the site.
 - Speed of updating prices.
 - Attractive user interface.

will force people to use your site.

Then comes the real problem which is how to promote the site, the most difficult task, which will cost you a lot of money.

Just as you shouldn't be bound by a CMC model, there are some good ones like cryptowat.ch.
3931  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor hacked (again) on: January 26, 2022, 11:02:13 AM
It seems that physical access to the device will mean that the password will be hacked and therefore your coins will be lost.

I have a question, why is the PIN code sufficient? In other words, if a password of sufficient length is inserted, will the hacker easily gain access to the device?

Overall, with the cheap device price, generating seeds, keeping seeds/addresses, and destroying hardware wallet device would be especially convenient for those who hold millions of dollars and don't intend to use them periodically.
3932  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The legal status of crypto currencies all over the world on: January 26, 2022, 10:26:46 AM
The extension of the link (.pk domain) made me question the content of the list and its accuracy, but I know the legal legislation for Bitcoin in several countries (almost seven countries) and it seems that the data is somewhat accurate and up-to-date.

In general, explicitly or implicitly banning Bitcoin is not considered sufficient unless there are penalties for those who own Bitcoin and these penalties have been implemented, then the Bitcoin ban will be effective. Despite that, I do not encourage violating laws, especially if a country bans Bitcoin.

If we assume that the ban is related to the implementation of legal provisions, the number of countries will be reduced to only several countries.
3933  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why don't popular micro/freelancers sites adopt bitcoin? on: January 26, 2022, 09:54:13 AM
There are several reasons for this:

 - Bitcoin price volatility: Many services will prefer paying with cash because it is stable, and therefore perhaps paying in stablecoins will be better than BTC.
 - Earn free bitcoin: Despite all these years, I see that more and more people are looking for ways to earn free bitcoin instead of buying it or working for it.
 - Ease of using cash: With cash, you can buy bitcoin and other things other than bitcoin.

Generally, when companies like Google, Facebook or PayPal (direct payment) start accepting Bitcoin in one form or another, we need individual adoption.
3934  Economy / Exchanges / Re: how to search currency exchange on: January 26, 2022, 09:35:37 AM
I know. The only reason I'm posting here is I found no one can help me. Police is not willing to do anything and cyber police only contact you via email and U never know how long for the next reply. And I can still see the website still working and the scammer still on what's app talk to me everyday wanna get more.

The best that can be done is to contact the paid currency trackingwill try to remember some good services and its better to ask the community services, they will have direct or indirect links with exchanges and you may get information about who own that address.

It is true that anonymity is easy, but scammers are lazy, so most likely the address following this address will be owned by the scammer.

The problem lies in how to recover the money from him, which is a more difficult aspect to identify and requires that the police be serious in pursuing it, just as if it was in a second country, the problem would become greater.

In short, you will not get much information from free services.
3935  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinBureau has been hacked on: January 25, 2022, 08:01:31 PM
For the first time, I thought it was a platform because of the word "coin." It's strange that YouTube channels are named with it.  Cheesy
In general, it is good that the video was quickly removed, but the confusing thing is that hackers who managed to hack this YouTube channel is trying to scam people with a trick that "doable bitcoin scam[1]"

The strange thing is that such attacks succeed in raising some money, although I think that people with this intelligence will be able to raise more money by inventing more complex scam ways.

3936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [Update] IMF urges El Salvador to remove Bitcoin as legal tender on: January 25, 2022, 07:36:15 PM

#BREAKING IMF urges El Salvador to remove Bitcoin as legal tender
Source --> https://twitter.com/AFP/status/1486051087736094729?s=20

I don't want to be pessimistic but still El Salvador wasn't ready to adopt Bitcoin, now with the price dropping and the pressure mounting, do you think El Salvador is ready to continue to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender?

Let's see how the price will also react to more negative news. Grin

UPDATE:  El Salvador Rejects IMF Call to Abandon Bitcoin as Legal Tender

El Salvador has rejected the recommendation by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to drop bitcoin as legal tender. The country’s finance minister reportedly “angrily” said, “No international organization is going to make us do anything, anything at all.

Quote
According to its analysis, “In the near-term the actual costs of implementing Chivo and operationalizing the Bitcoin law exceed potential benefits,” the IMF stated in its recent report on El Salvador.

The International Monetary Fund also recommended that El Salvador’s government start charging fees for the use of its digital wallet, Chivo. In addition, the IMF wants the Salvadoran government to stop giving away $30 in bitcoin to anyone signing up to use the Chivo wallet.

So, the government's position was strongly rejecting, with the IMF warning to interfere in the internal financial affairs of the state, to see how opinions will be in the future, especially since the government's position is very bold with regard to Bitcoin.
3937  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Using fiatleak.com to Screen Possible Altcoin Buys on: January 22, 2022, 09:22:59 AM
The word Alt's Quality sounds general so it has to be defined. Do you mean good for investment:

 - Medium term: more trading volume mean more easily to liquidate it, which is a more important indicator than the speed of making a profit.
 - Short term: It may be a good indicator but it will be good to know why the price has changed and not to predict the future.
 - Long-term: Unfortunately, most altcoins fail to be store of value in the long run. you must monitor technical developments, speed of problem-solving and the unique advantages that the currency offers more than trading volumes.

Thus, in general, we cannot consider it a good indicator of the quality of altcoin, but it indicates that the currency is still alive and can be easily liquidated.
3938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Do You Know Which Crypto to Buy? on: January 22, 2022, 08:25:58 AM
There is no such application that chooses good investments for you, but rather it is the science of risk management.

Lower the market capacity of the currency --> higher its price --> higher the profits --> higher the risk of losing capital.

Trust and investment based on the recommendation of such an application will incur losses because users’ data may be sold or exploited in pumping/dumping scam coins, and therefore the user will bear all losses.

 - Do not forget that whether the currency is good for investment or not is not enough to make a profit
 - Rather, it requires knowledge of investment times and building an entry and exit strategy, which requires more effort.

All of these things if we ignore the danger of downloading a random closed-source application.
3939  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto.com no fee on trades? on: January 22, 2022, 08:04:50 AM
So I have been trading with Crypto.com app for a while now, however recently I have been buying some crypto, and I have realised that it comes up with 0 fee?
There are two types of withdrawals:

 - Withdrawing cryptocurrencies to wallet: It is an on-chain transaction and therefore will require mining fees + service fees and it is impossible to be zero (at least for most blockchains). can be reduced by using a blockchain that does not require exorbitant mining fees[1].
 - Withdrawal into Crypto.com system: It is instant because it updates the database and does not require a lot of fees and therefore it can be zero.

Did you withdraw to Crypto.com app or one of Crypto.com services, or did you withdraw to your wallet?

about fees you can read ---> https://crypto.com/exchange/document/fees-limits

3940  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto.com Says Hackers Stole Nearly $34M From Users on: January 22, 2022, 07:22:29 AM
But when going to crypto.com I saw that it was "in other cryptocurrencies.", again lazy journalism, they've made their word quota , who cares about the rest.
I didn't read the details of the hack, I thought it was for the site's hot wallet, but the account data system hack looks worse than that.
I wonder how much data they collected because it looks like they might have more access to more data like email addresses, personal data, IP addresses and so on.
I don't know why I remembered the recent hack that happened to the Twitter platform. Smiley
In general, I will read more details later to update this.
