3921  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Argentinian president tests positive to covid-19 after being vaccinated on: April 15, 2021, 08:14:05 PM
That point aside, I don’t like the slippery slope we’re walking. People talking about vaccine passports and other stupid things. If you bend over now, it won’t be long before they expect us all to take annual flu shots in order to be allowed outside.
I second your points, but don't you think the government are also in a dilemma, even a trilemma with the situation at hand, if vaccine shots are left for volunteers, then quite a lot of people may be skeptical about it all and thus, not get vaccinated, and as such, the virus prolly can't be brought under control, as quite a large number of people have to be vaccinated for some sort of control to be possible.

I'm not suggesting or in support of 'vaccine ID's' to be free to move or do certain things, but I think it's only possibly going to be put in place to prolly encourage more people to get vaccinated, it's a critical point we're in at the moment you know.
3922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: wallet to store XRP with good security features on: April 15, 2021, 07:36:31 PM
Binance is a great, trusted and secured wallet and it is as well a good trading platform for your xrp. You should check it out.
This is not true, custodial wallets are not the best of choices when you're looking for wallets to store your coins for the long run, quite a lot of things could go wrong along the way (system hacks is a possibility) and since you're not in control of the private keys, you could most probably lose your funds easily, or in another scenario have to wait for an 'unfriendly' support team to respond to you if any problem occurs; the best choice is to select secure non-custodial wallets, HW wallet being your best choice and be in control and free to use/spend your funds the way you deem fit.
I am new to Ripple coin(XRP) , as one of my friend told me that XRP is good for long term investment.
I cannot say it is a good long term investment when it still has a pending case with the SEC. Are you aware of that?
This is prolly another thing to look out for if you haven't already, I know XRP is pumping at the moment, but it can also experience a sharp dump/plunge in price, it's lawsuit with the SEC is not over yet, and a negative verdict can mean a negative movement in it's price
3923  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: April 15, 2021, 05:57:48 PM
I vote for Manchester City winning Champions League! Guardiola cannot lose this opportunity to go back to the top: Man City under his management became a top team and his players are hungry enough to win the title. As many remembered, given the huge advantage they have in Premier League they can almost fully concentrate on winning the European Cup.
Unarguably, City want to win the UCL, it's the title they have never won ever since Sheikh Mansour bought the club and was able to bring in the best of managers and players, but the desire to win the title is insufficient to make a team champions, cause definitely, every team in the last four and even those who have been eliminated along the way also want(ed) to win the title.

Having said that, it's the quality of the players and how focused they are on the night that'll determine who'll go through, the both teams have quality players, the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Foden, Mbappe, Neymar, Mahrez, Di Maria etc, will all be on display on the 27th of this month, it's going to be a really tight game, but I don't think City's advantage in the EPL will make them favorites or give them an edge.
3924  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 15, 2021, 05:47:12 PM
For me personally if Milan will fall from the top 4 spot I guess it will still be ok and it will just give them more time to actually improve their roster and bring in some more wonderkids to help for the next season and maybe be more consistent in the league table.
I don't think so at all, for a team that has been on top of the table for so long before relinquishing that position to inter Milan, things cannot get more worse for them if they fall out of the top four positions and subsequently out of the uefa champions league next season, the only consolation AC Milan can afford themselves is to finish in second position, at least, it could be some sort of motivation for them to go again next season and challenge for the title like they did this season.
After the reelection of the old Real Madrid president, we will see Zidane soon in Juve? and what about CR7 future there? Dunno what local press are talking in Italy.
I don't know if Pirlo will be given another season as manager of Juventus, but in my opinion, I think he should, Juve were pretty aware that he wasn't an established manager before signing him, and that he was always bound to struggle in his first few seasons, I think more time is what Pirlo needs, but if they are too fire him and replace him with Zidane, then it is also a great move for Juve, as for Ronaldo, I don't think too many clubs are at the moment interested in him, cause of his age, he could prolly stay in Juve for another season, especially if Zidane becomes manager.
3925  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Argentinian president tests positive to covid-19 after being vaccinated on: April 13, 2021, 06:00:16 PM
I can prolly understand why covid-19 vaccine distribution is pertinent, and that's cause it can possibly reduce significantly the number of people that run the risk of contracting the virus, but my argument is that if more people after taking the vaccine still continue to test positive, then the efficacy of the virus could be questioned; I know the vaccines aren't 100% effective, but they ought to be at least over 90% effective, thus this positive cases after vaccination should be in the minority.
3926  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Religion in our society on: April 13, 2021, 04:02:20 PM
Good morals and individual uprightness do not emanate from religion, it's an individual's decision to do what's right, that's the more reason why you can find an atheist with proper morals and one who's religious causing all sorts of mayhem in the community. Imo, one's upbringing and close community, not religion is responsible to a large percent in how that person behaves, just as it's said "if you live amongst thieves, there's a high chance you'll steal".

Having said that, I think quite a lot of emphasis is placed on religion, and people expect religion to produce an 'utopian' society which isn't supposed to be so, much of the problems today is caused by the corrupt government and their inability to provide sufficiently for their citizens, which most times leads them to commit some of the vices in the OP.
3927  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Die testate with your Bitcoin. Death is inevitable on: April 13, 2021, 03:09:11 PM
I have simply been saying the need to make our will on beneficiary(ies) of our coins.
It's not just as easy as that, there are various risk concerns involved in Bitcoin, it's different from other forms of physical assets were you can just draw up a will and after your demise, with the help of a lawyer, your beneficiaries can claim what you left them, in the case of Bitcoin, for that to be possible, you must give up your seed phrase, which is pretty difficult to do, as just with a misuse or a careless act with that 12 or 24 seed phrase, your funds could be imported by another and lost for good.

Thus having said that, it's pretty difficult for people to disclose the 'key' to their wallets/crypto funds, except to one or two very trusted persons; ignorance is another reason why you don't get many people having beneficiaries to their funds, the one whom you can trust with your seed phrase may actually not be knowledgeable on the network, thus you run the risk of even losing your funds before you lose your life if they have access to your stash, that's why it's also pertinent to teach whoever you plan on making your crypto beneficiary one or two things about security on the network, so they don't lose the funds before or after you're even gone.
3928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Have you given up on airdrop? on: April 13, 2021, 02:35:28 PM
Airdrops these days are too different from the airdrops that we had last 2017. They're asking for too much information yet they're not paying their participants accordingly...
The people who organize this Airdrops ask for such personal information/data cause many a times, most of them are prolly going to be sold in the black market, which then makes it not worth it even if they are to pay the little token they promised the participants, it's more or less obvious that the number of crypto users involved in one airdrop or the other have dropped significantly down the years, time and again, it (Airdrops) has proved counterproductive, so you don't expect people to still continue with it, except those who are unaware or are just moved by their avarice.
For me, I will give a shot once there is so potential airdrop with transparency and back up by the professional team.
The thing is, quite a lot of the airdrop teams are made up of impersonators who claim that they're professionals in the field whereas they are scammers, thus it's more or less pretty difficult to tell which is legitimate, the most preferable option is to just stop participating in Airdrops.
3929  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: April 11, 2021, 08:59:49 PM
I was impressed with the performance of Manchester Utd. I think with a couple of top signings they could properly challenge Manchester City for the title next season. Old is improving them constantly.
That's the more reason why the United board are going to give OGS another season as manager, I don't know if United are going to sign new players, and I think they will, but the thing is United's new signings always struggle to flourish, especially in their first few seasons at Old Trafford, Pogba, Maguire, etc, are actually yet to get the ground running since their arrivals, and we're talking of top/big money signings.

But having said that, United would compete for the title next season, but imo, they would not still win it, it's still going to be either City's or Liverpool's, and whichever of them fumbles (just as Liverpool did this season) the other will prolly be champions (just as City will be at the end of this season).
3930  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All Eyes on BTC Dominance! on: April 11, 2021, 01:48:04 PM
What's the lowest do you guys think BTC dominance will touch down to? 50% or lower?
Speculatively, with the influx of institutional investors, prolly we wouldn't go too low, that's if it's going to go low at all, I'm not forgetting the volatility of the network, but my argument is, with the sort of investment coming into the BTC network left, right and center, we prolly may have gone past spontaneous fall in price.
- Once btc rallies to next leg up to $70k then will that mean btc dominance will recover and from there will alts go sideways or go down in price?
Bitcoin's dominance was never in doubt, so it's not going to 'recover' it's dominance, rather it's going to continue to establish it, as for altcoins, speculatively I don't think they'll go down in price, rather they'll also see some appreciation in price as Bitcoin keeps up it's move to $100k.
Why is it becoming so predictable like this pattern described above  Huh But easy predictability means more money making yeah  Cool
I don't think it's become any easy, all of the predictions are still just but speculations, even if users study historical price movements, it's still not guaranteed that a shift from that pattern isn't possible, the network isn't in the control of any single entity, thus unexpected changes can happen anytime.
3931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Cardano aiming to solve problems that Ethereum cant' solve? on: April 11, 2021, 01:12:24 PM
Happy to get explanations how is it that ADA will do great things that ETH cannot do?
ADA isn't going to do that, many coins people said will 'kill' ethereum, just like ADA were also expected to do that, but in the long run were unable to sustain their development, but Eth is still doing that (developing) and skyrocketing on the market; Ethereum's ecosystem is more developed than that of others, plus it's community of investors keeps increasing, if any other altcoin wants to prolly do better than ethereum, then they ought to work on their network, so it's development will continue to the long term, why many of the "eth killers'' fail is cause they are only short term sustainable.
3932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: XRP is up 118% in seven days as the market responds positively to SEC case news on: April 11, 2021, 12:48:47 PM
Like it has been said a couple of times already, XRP's future depends a whole lot on what the final verdict of the lawsuit is going to be, XRP is appreciating at the moment as some of the SEC's arguments and requests on the case have been denied/dismissed by the court, this prolly must have allured some investors back to XRP, with a bit of hope that victory could be XRP's at the end of all this.

Having said that, since the case is still pretty far from over, I'd be concerned with pump and dump occuring along the way, a big news against XRP in this case could surface in the coming weeks that could see the price crashing down yet again.
3933  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: April 11, 2021, 09:47:26 AM
Disjointed Barcelona should forget about La liga
The Laliga is still very much open, Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid and Barcelona still have a chance to be champions at the end of the season, Barca have been in swashbuckling form in 2021, thus losing in an El classico is not too much of a bad result, Madrid is a big team, thus there was always the possibility of a loss for Barcelona, but that doesn't mean they should forget about the Laliga or that it's out of their reach.
I was sure that Barcelona would win this match because Real had spent a lot of energy in the match against Liverpool... For example yesterday Chelsea lost and Bayern drew...
Chelsea didn't lose yesterday, they comfortably beat Crystal palace 4-1.
3934  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: For OTC Traders: Beware of "Flash bitcoin" or Fake Bitcoin Transaction on: April 10, 2021, 02:10:35 PM
4. Don’t just buy coins.... Study blockchain technology
I second this, cause quite a lot of people do not know that in any Bitcoin transaction, there is a certain number of confirmations (6 at best) required, before it can be said that you've successfully received the coins, even some vendors or merchants (some I've personally come in contact with) aren't knowledgeable on this and had to either learn the hard way (giving out products and then failing to receive funds) or through the stories of others who lost funds via the double spend modus operandi.

Having said that, "your Bitcoin is your responsibility", and if you're yet to know how to use it (that means covering all the risks concerns, security protocols and other whatnots), then you prolly shouldn't use it till you've acquired adequate knowledge on how to "be your own bank".
3935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: April 10, 2021, 08:43:53 AM
This weekend we will have a super Sunday between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. In early of this season, Spurs destroyed Manchester United but after that big win, Spurs slipped down in forms and now they have been struggling to fight for the fourth position on the table.
Spurs made a big statement back then, when they beat Manchester United 6-1, people thought they prolly could go all they way and win the league, but at this moment, it's all about if they can make it into the top four position and qualify for the Champions league next season, I don't think they will though. For Manchester United, it's to stay as close as possible to City and hope (even if it's the tiniest of hope) for a slip up (one I cannot see forthcoming); I think Spurs will either win this game, or it ends in a draw.
Manchester City ? - ? Leeds United; Pep and his boys want a win to further wrap up their title league earlier so that they can concentrate on the champions league; while Leeds want to remain in the top half of the league; Wih Leeds united open style; can they get a draw at the etihad ?
Bielsa knows quite a lot about Pep, and there's also mutual respect between the both managers, so anytime they play, it's usually an interesting game to watch, the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw, back then though, City were still struggling, while Leeds were doing good things in the league, I think this game will be completely different and I can only see a victory for Pep's team.
3936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: April 10, 2021, 08:31:01 AM
Chelsea is definitely going to end up winning I am pretty sure about that, they showed how great they are already in the first game and they will keep that up constantly as well, that is why I am going to think that there is definitely a chance to keep gambling on that game.
They weren't so 'great' in the first leg, yes, they won by two goals to nil, but on the night Porto was the better team imo, and if they had better composure and were bolder in and around Chelsea's box, then they would have come out of that game with at least a goal and make things more interesting in the second leg. But as things stand now, Chelsea should be through, I think the second leg will be pretty boring, as Chelsea will prolly not come out firing, since they have a strong advantage.
...City will be at least an easy game and I will definitely wager the biggest on that one.
I'm usually careful when wagering on teams that have a first leg advantage, they could come into the second leg with a slightly defensive strategy and the game could prolly then end in a draw, but Pep being the attack-minded maestro that he is, I don't expect City to sit back at all, they'll come at Dortmund yet again, and will surely go through at the end.
3937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: April 08, 2021, 07:14:19 AM
I'm still waiting for Adama Traore to score a goal this season. Amazing really, with that speed and strength - 0 goals in over 2000 league minutes.
Adama Traore is yet to ever convince me that he's a quality player, he's unarguably big, strong and fast, but that's all he's got imo, and he doesn't really use it to produce much for his team as his creativity in the final third of the pitch is really poor, Adama is an average (prolly even below average) player if you ask me.
Just 2 assists as well, so a goal contribution every 1000 minutes - 1 in 11 games. I really don't understand why is he still playing in their first 11 and how is it possible that he's worth like 50 mil.€.
Is Adama really worth that amount? I can't imagine any team signing a player that has contributed so little down the years for that much, if that's the price tag wolves has set for Traore, then they must reduce it or else they'll scare away any team from signing him.
3938  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it all speculation ? on: April 07, 2021, 04:49:29 PM
Don't you think that governments will be able to influence the value of bitcoin in the future or even ban it ? I am aware that in the past such operations were not succesfull (with gold for instance) but that doesn't mean it will never succeed.
Government can only influence the value of their Fiat, create inflation/hyperinflation, decide to print some more of it from thin air, etc cause they control it, all that isn't possible when Bitcoin is in the picture, government can't influence the value, they can't control it cause Bitcoin was designed to function without government (third party) interference. No government can generally ban Bitcoin, they could regulate it within their own jurisdiction and prolly ban it's usage there as well, but it's not possible to ban (stop) Bitcoin from operating, not even it's creator (Satoshi) has the power or wherewithal to do that.
But what dangers are there for bitcoin ? Like government regulations  -  any attempt to undermine the bitcoin as it is an unregulated de-centralised currency or the fact that mining uses tons of energy which causes excess co2.
Mining and whatever energy it uses poses no problems, the media prolly could be saying otherwise, but imo, that's only just for propaganda sake; Regulations have always been something Bitcoiners somewhat worry about, but that regulation is mostly only possible through centralized exchanges (services). Via third party services, government can get data of Bitcoin users and use it as they please, but such dangers can also be evaded, cause even in a country were Bitcoin is banned or regulated, citizens still run transactions with Bitcoin via P2p services, which is preferable for anonymity and privacy.
There two questions that bug me...First of all how can we tell how well priced bitcoin is at the moment ? There is little utility behind bitcoin and the value is created only from demand and trust of those who purchase, rather than from something tangible. It's not really possible to say we are at 60k right now but to be honest it's not worth that much is it?
Basically, Bitcoin is a decentralized currency, thus the best way to understand how "priced" is it is based on its adoption rate and the growing level of believe people have about Bitcoin, which unsurprisingly is skyrocketing atm, having said that Bitcoin's value being somewhat created from demand of it's users isn't a con, that's how the network was designed to be, if it wasn't that way then there will prolly be a body or 'government' ("something tangible") running it's affairs which will then only make it the very centralized "thing" we want to do away with. And Bitcoin is very well worth $60k cause that's how much you'll have to pay to acquire one of it right now.
On the other hand this makes it irrelevant how much bitcoin costs does it ? We are at 60k right now but we could as well be at 600k and it wouldn't make a difference to the demand would it ?
It would make a difference, if and when we're at 1btc=$600k, the demand will definitely be more than it is right now, we could prolly be at near-mainstream adoption then.
3939  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it all speculation ? on: April 07, 2021, 01:06:15 PM
How are you approaching investing in cryptos? Is your trading active based on technical analysis or are you putting money in cryptos for medium term ?
There's a generally accepted mode of approach to investing in crypto, and it is adhering to the rule of thumb of "investing only what you know you can afford to lose", whether you're a long/short/medium term investor or even a trader, that axiom should come first before you take a decision in crypto.
On the other hand I am under the impression that investing long term is a guess work and this type of asset is not made for continous investing into it over a long term or is it ?
There are quite a lot of cryptocurrencies, many of which are shitcoins/pump and dump coins that aren't viable for the long term (I'm talking about Altcoins) but Bitcoin is, many early adopters of Bitcoin have been hodling for more than a decade now, plus new adopters, institutional investors, private businesses etc, all involved in the network, Btc is changing the monotonous financial system for good, acting as a hedge to fiat and offering control and freedom to it's users as well, if you also pay close attention to it's historical price movements then you'll understand why Bitcoin is a long term (or prolly even forever) coin/asset/investment/currency etc.
Bitcoin seems to have really broken into mainstream already, with big companies investing in it - is it a sign that the bubble will crash or is it increasing the credibility of the asset ? I would think the latter, but the common theme in any literature is that when an asset raises so high it becomes mainstream the bubble is about to burst.
Imo, there could be price corrections or a bear market, and it's nothing new; but the use of terms like "bubble..."burst" is pretty incorrect, it's obvious that the believe in the Bitcoin network is growing, cause if it's not, institutional investors wouldn't 'employ' it as a hedge to devaluing Fiat currency, Bitcoin will definitely move to mainstream adoption with bearish periods and price corrections along the way, but it's not a bubble that's going to burst.
3940  Economy / Economics / Re: Janet Yellen to call for unified global corporate tax rate on: April 07, 2021, 06:07:53 AM
The United States of America is a world power country, but even at that, it's not possible for them to influence other countries to follow their tax policy, every country fixes their tax rate for their best interest, thus if the U.S. feels an increase from 21% to 28% is for the best, then they should go ahead with it alone; Yellen and Biden are only seeking a "united global corporate tax rate" cause they know it's a bad policy, and that if it's taken by only the United States, it'll hurt them and play into the hands of (favor) other countries.

Having said that, they can only manage to get a few of their allies to go along with this policy, but if they are envisaging it on a 'global' scale, then it's not possible, that's even the more reason I think they'll forfeit this tax increase, or else, their competitors in the global economics that would definitely not follow this policy (like China) could allure businesses away from the U.S. and in years to come overtake them as the country with the best economy.
