BitShares experts: how closely has BitUSD followed USD? I am skeptical of the concept, but think it is a great experiment, and I am excited to see how well it works out. I am hoping it pulls through. Im still fail to understand the concept. What are you buying when you buy "BitUSD" exctly? You aren't buying Bitcoin and you aren't buying Gold so what the hell is it?

It's just a bear market. Not the death of monero. A great opportunity to buy lots of cheap coins.
That's the same statement said when it dropped from .0043 to .0039 and again when it fell below .0030. It's been on a steady decent since peaking in September. The graph doesn't lie. ~BCX~ ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F8s4JwJY.jpg&t=663&c=CFPvYH1bOMx1aQ) You could say the same about bitcoin, but anyone that knows how to make profit knows gains will be made next year by this time.

Bitcoin isn't internet. Internet is something that has no alternative. We can currently pay in fiat and I am quite sure that we will be able to do that in 2100. I don't think Bitcoin will ever replace fiat. Governments simply has so much power.
Bitcoin is non-inflatory. That allows it to be used as a storage of value. It will be safe heaven for investors and it's volatility will be used to gain wealth. These reasons could tempt new investors in and that way increase Bitcoins market cap. If we see inflation as a way to move money from poor peoples pocket to rich peoples then the rich are fine with fiat and the rest of the world are fine with it as well.
Neither of these scenarios will lead to higher adoption but higher value only.
Adoption with come with marketing. Marketing is everything specially these days. Make it trendy among young people and bang, bitcoin everywhere.

Sorry to be a wet blanket. Writing a description for (bitcoin) for general audiences is bloody hard. There’s nothing to relate it to.

I only use Poloniex, since the volumes I trade are pretty small (and usually just Doge -> BTC). The absence of a withdrawal fee is pretty nice.
I love using Poloniex, specially because they added the possibility to add a dark skin so I don't burn my eyes when staring at the screen for hours ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I had never, ever understood the ETFs, derivatives, stocks and anything else in Bitcoin. I'm not mocking anything, I sincerely never understood why would someone need something like that.
To make money ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

No because i don't much of it, but if I had a LOT, it would take way too many balls to simply sit back and relax and see what happens.

Yep supply and demand definitely controls the price of bitcoin for sure.
yes.. The major fault in bitcoin community is about its identity. Bitcoin is a commodity not money. Why pigeonhole it? It is many things at the same time. BTC represents the creation of something not in our current lexicon. Well Bitcoin is usually marketed as internet money. Quote from bitcoin.org "new kind of money".

My life is exactly the same post-Bitcoin and i wish i was one of the early adopters, now that is a life changing experience. Most people running btc businesses are dumping for fiat anyway (see overstock).
My only hope is the price goes insanely high in 10 years, then maybe my life changes enough for Bitcoin being a thing i'll remember for life.
As far as corruption goes.. you could lose your money because of a corrupted bank, or lose your bitcoin because of a corrupted business or because you lose your wallet. Thats just bad luck.

Quantum computers are overrated, or the fear of it breaking Bitcoin security that is. In 1000 years, sure, maybe Bitcoin is totally useless by then and anyone can crack the current security with a quantum laptop, but during our lifetimes I think this is the last of our worries.

There would have been a million threads about the rise of price already if this was true.

I wonder what kind of games John Carmack could come up with this much power.

The life of a currency is measured in how easy it is to do groceries with it. I did my groceries today and fellas still accepting the dollar, therefore money is not dead.

There are critical differences as well, such as decentralization, cryptology, anonymity etc.
if Bitcoin is anonymous, then why there is people putting effort into stuff like Darkwallet etc..

If you are in for bitcoin you are doing the right thing. Dollar cost average, buy whatever you can monthly, dont get too excited, that's all. Only people with massive luck or massive money make massive money, the rest is hustling and hustling unfortunately requires patience and gives not much wealth, but thats why you and me are slaves waiting for that chance of luck. This is how the big sharks make money: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2831108/Five-world-s-banks-fined-2BN-rigging-foreign-exchange-markets-prosecuted.htmlHere in the crypto world we have big whales playing with the bitcoin market as well, so you can't really predict it for shit. What can be done is obtaining more slowly and hoping it goes up and it becomes trendy in the future and people actually use it to get paid in jobs and pay for commodities like a real currency, for now it's a game of trust.
