3922  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I have cheap electric, wondering if mining is now something that I can do profit on: August 03, 2023, 03:05:34 AM
So I can now get my electricity for $0.05 per KWh. This is a new opportunity that has landed in front of me and I have the capital to invest a decent chunk into this. I was wondering if it is currently profitable to be doing it from scratch whilst paying the price listed above.

I've done a lot of research throughout reddit and toyed with some of the calculators but thought I'd post with my actual situation to see what other people thought.

Thanks for the time and hopefully I haven't broken any rules posting this!
This is a good electricity price for ASIC mining. I don't know if you have premises to install asics and what expenses you will need to start. I would immediately buy a container for asics, because this will allow you to quickly start mining and the container can always be transported to another place. Otherwise, you will have to spend a lot of money on repairs elsewhere.

In the USA there are some nice containers for 20k they can do 150 s19s

But they need a lot of kwatts to do that. around 500kwatts of power.

While the op mentions 5 cent power he did not say if he has
10kwatts an hour
100kwatts an hour
1000kwatts an hour.

It will help to know what he has available to him.

burn a braiins+ sd card and see if you can run it on a 2600 watt clock.

I did that and my unit is now working.

had a dead s19 pro that was doing 110th at 3200 watts. or 29 watts a th

Loaded braiins+ auto tuning as I type.

At the moment 104.6 th and 2640 watts which is 25.88 watts. I will post tune numbers soon.

18 minutes into the tune

106.9 and 24.73 watts

It will get better. Well hoping for it to get better.

I will not publish links to sites and social networks due to possible fraud, but at the end of the video there is this information.
I do not advise anyone to place orders and wait for real reviews of famous miners, if these ASICs really exist.

I will email and ask for a demo model.

......The Maker of the universe machine is great enough that He fits our definition of "God Almighty."

Cool

All you did is shift the question "from who made the universe?" to "who made your imaginary sky fairy god?"
And you cant tell me who/what created your "almighty" god.
(well you probably will, but it will be all your typical supernatural godswill mumbo jumbo, complete with silly holy babble quotes)
It must be turtles all the way down.

<snipped gobbledygook>

Cool

Ah!... ok. I see now Bud. Hey quick question....are all these here brilliant gems of logic of yours peer reviewed, or do yo just pull then outta your ass for the entertainment of the bitcointalk community intelligencia?

.....
God kinda likes you. I mean, even God enjoys a little bit of entertainment now and again.

Cool

He likes me?? Oh hot damn! No wonder he hasn't smited me yet!

Ahh you never know maybe BADecker got a hold of some good dope and saw something special.

Well I read all the answers.

First off do you have 240 volt power not 120 volt.

you are far better off with power that is about 208-242volt range.

Next off do you have lots of it?

Ie 200 amps at 220-240 means you can do 160amps of gear at most. this is a safety factor must be obeyed or meltdown!!

The best gear does around 14 amps and or 3100 watts.

So 160/14 = 11.4 this means you can do 10 maybe 11 units of s19 gear maybe L7 gear Maybe whatsminer m50

They will be loud loud loud loud and hot hot hot hot.

You will need cooling of some kind fans ac whatever.

pretend you buy a s19 that does 100 th you can find one for 1200

It earns 100 x 7.25 cents or 7.25 a day

it burns 75 kwatts or $3.75 at 5 cents

so 7.25-3.75 = $3.50 profit a day so it will be close to paid off by 300days or the ½ ing.

Are you USA based?

I have a
1) good seller repair guy in Long Island New York.
2) Mikeywith a forum guy can get you m50 gear a legit price.
3) kaboomracks is a good seller

all of them are legit guys.

Would like it to break back above $30k before I sell. I should have dumped at $31.5k but got greedy.

When accessing the one with the problem, the main page (miner status) never loads anything, but is weird because the miner is responsive, I can access the other web pages: overview, firmware upgrade, pool configuration, etc. But in the pool it shows as not hashing.

The first thing I would want to eliminate would be the possibility of a browser issue, use a different browser to access the status page to check if there is any difference, you could also use a free monitoring software like AwesomMiner just to check the status of the miner with that issue, now once you confirm that it's indeed an internal issue, here is a list of the things you can do.

- Take out the control board and put it in a different miner to see if it acts any differently.
- Flash an older firmware version (probably not accessible unless you contact Inno's support.

If all fails, then chances are your control board is out and you need to replace it.

What is more important is to find out why would all your miners restart, there could be an underlying issue causing them to do so, and what happened to this miner could happen to the rest, have you figured out the reason for the mass reboot?

I had this happened on and off for my three innos. eventually they all acted like the ops dead one.

He is unlikely to respond, he usually only copies pictures and texts from Twitter.

And this table appears to be taken from a BDO audit report dated yesterday. The full report can be read here https://assets.ctfassets.net/vyse88cgwfbl/63oJePOHqIvrcnXWMPZ1M0/4cfaf2e7cdf80c30b17fdc70faaf741f/ESO.03.01_Std_ISAE_3000R_Opinion_30-06-2023_BDO_Tether_CRR.pdf.

That’s why I asked.
I read that report, but I wasn’t able to find those information on that report.
Maybe I read it too quickly.

page 7 of the pdf above.

We have gone up quite a bit the last 2 days, the pace is approaching 100%

Projected Epoch Length:   between 14d 1h 20m 29s and 14d 2h 0m 32s

I agree with phill regarding the heatwave/s, the only logical reason as to why difficulty has stopped increasing as much for the past couple of weeks is due to the hot summer in major mining cities like Texas, if this continues, then august should be a flat month in terms of difficulty, as we approach September we should start climbing again, the usually 2-3% per epoch.

yeah heat will fade in late august or early sept and then onwards and upwards.

Still working . Since it is in my garage and not the farm I dropped clock to 2500 watts. I altered temp setting to 72 80 90.

It tuned over night and is now doing 97th and 2475 watts.

Saves me driving to repair guy in next state.

After much playing with gear I found the actual issue was the white info cable between the psu and the control board.

Since this firmware (brains+) will allow a solid under clock at 25 watts a th I will leave it in place for the next two months due to summer heat issues.

To have a second firmware is good for testing purposes as I would not have figured out what was wrong with this gear with only bitmain firmware.

By patient testing I got 2 s19 pros with 1 board running to two s19s with six boards running.

or 36th up to 210th.

First one I fixed by mixing and matching the six boards till three worked.
second one I used brains as the three boards left would not register with bitmain firmware.
they worked sporadically with brains+ so I then replaced the cable from psu to controller getting good results. Also I like this firmwares abiltity to go to 2475 watts vs 3200 watts.
