Bitcoin peaks at record high close to $20,000

Bitcoin has traded at its highest value to date, reaching $19,920.53 (£14,821) according to data-provider Coindesk.

It took the virtual currency nearly three years to top its previous record, when it peaked about $137 lower.

Bitcoin has risen in value by more than 170% since the start of the year.

Analysts suggest some investors have treated it as a "safe haven asset" at a time of uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic, but others warn that it remains volatile.

Bitcoin fell below $3,300 at one point after reaching its previous high.
'Feels different'

Other factors that have supported its recent rise include PayPal allowing its platform to be used to buy and sell the virtual coins in October, and a number of large institutional investors declaring interest in buying into funds tied to the crypto-currency.

These include Guggenheim Partners, a Wall Street firm that announced on Friday it might put as much as $530m into a Bitcoin-related investment trust.

"It seems that barely a day goes past when we don't read a headline about a mainstream fund or company expressing an intention to put some of their holdings into Bitcoin," said Rhian Lewis, author of The Cryptocurrency Revolution.

3922  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: December 01, 2020, 01:50:23 PM
It was quite unbelievable to see Fulham managing to steal 3 points away from the hands of Leicester City
I was not surprised after watching Liverpool wining Leicester 3:0 without 6 first team players, after that game I lost all hope on Leicester city winning any important game this season, thus Leicester are also going through injuries situation with some of their important first team player like Ndidi and others.

Fulham is going back to relegation no doubt already have my bet on.
We shouldn't pick Fulham for relegation now, there are a lot of matches to be played, clubs like Crystal palace, Brighton, Fulham, West Brom, Burnsley and Sheffield United will all fight  relegation battle, Leicester always disappoint their fans when you expect them to play well they will fumble, I believed the absence of their workaholic midfielder Wilfred Ndidi as you rightly said  been felt by the team except they buy quality players in January else they will continue to struggle in the league.
3923  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hitting ATH right now? on: December 01, 2020, 04:34:42 AM
As we have seen during the last few days, the resistance level at $20,000 looks very strong. I won't be surprised if we witness another bout of major correction (where the prices decline by 20% or more), before we are able to breach the 20K level. My guess is that a lot of people have set their selling target at $19.5K-$20.0K and this prevents the exchange rates from rising fast.
The resistance at $20k is holding the price strongly however with all the positive fundamental news surrounding bitcoin in the last couple of the days will be the catalyst that will break that resistance hopefully today, the price had been touching that zone presently of course a breakout is very imminent meanwhile events leading to this present upsurge in the price of bitcoin is obvious different from that of ATH in 2017 thus from all indications the price of bitcoin come 2021 will definitely more than the lat ATH.
3924  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin reach 20k $ in 2021? on: November 30, 2020, 06:36:27 PM
Maybe if you look at the current situation the price of $ 20K could happen this year, but that's not the goal of bitcoin. because the highest value that bitcoin will give will be next year and I don't see this year. I am sure with the bitcoin situation like this, bitcoin will probably go down again and up again, that's what happened in recent months. bitcoin has become a short-term investment.
The price is almost touching $20K between now and tomorrow the price will reach that price market however that does not mean the price will stay above $20K before the end of this year. Christmas is fast approaching there is a possibility of  a temporary pullback due to some hodlers selling some of their BTC to Fiat for buying of gifts and stuffs during the yelutide period however come 2021 BTC will resume it upsurge and bullish runs.
3925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 30, 2020, 03:57:09 PM
Arsenal must be out from the current situation, being ranked 14th out of 10 matches means the coach's strategy is not working. Arteta shouldn't push through with hus ineffective strategy. And i think, Arteta must take a formation that can included Ozil, agree or not, I think Ozil still nedeed by arsenal. from last 5 matches, the formation used was 3-4-3, 4-2-3-1. only the 4-2-3-1 formation seems to fit the arsenal, but the question is, why not just focus on this formation?
for the time being it is impossible to include Ozil on any of Arteta starting eleven and bech because Arteta had the balls to remove him from frm his 25 man list and the irony is that the 25 man list is 3 players shorte so Arteta had space to put his name out there but decided to go without him leaving him earning quarter of a million pound every week for just chilling while they have a clear problem when it comes to creating chances.
The present crops of arsenal attacking midfielders lack creative they needed a player like ozil that can open up opponent defence lines and make the final pass for their striker to score goals, this is lacking in the present squad, Arteta should accept the bitter truth and include ozil into the squad, Ceballos, Willock e.t.c aren't good enough to create chances, the final third is Arsenal problem that needed to be address else Abumeyang will continue to fire blank while the team will continue on their losing streaks in fact their next match is a London derby against bitter rival totenham.
3926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People still don't know about Bitcoin on: November 30, 2020, 11:00:30 AM
There are many people who still don't know about bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. I don't know about others I am talking about my country and about my society. Whenever I ask from people about or talk about the Bitcoin. They ask what is this?

How much there is who face this problem?

We really cannot blame them if they do not have knowledge regarding Cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrencies only lives within the Internet and people without access to Internet would really have no chance on learning them. One of the best way to introduce Bitcoin along with other Cryptocurrencies is by showing the results on what can be achieve if you have knowledge regarding them which is a great thing.
Some of them who knew Bitcoin in the era of moribound popular Ponzi scheme MMM were disappointed when the scheme turned scam thus had a bitter experience about it and never bothered to acquire more knowledge on it, however it has been a difficult task to inform newbies because of bad reputations of Bitcoin by MMM investors, meanwhile there are a lot of internet users who had not enquire about Bitcoin thus there is need for rigorous public enlightenment to teach people on the benefits of Bitcoin this is can be achieved by a collective efforts of crypto enthusiast in our respective communities.
3927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: As the markets remains bullish; Do the right things on: November 30, 2020, 04:16:25 AM
Trading involves You, Your capital and the crypto currency market.
And literally, i have this believe that as a trader; you do not have any power over the outcome of a trade; you can only analyse and predict a core price movement.

This is why you must always do the right things; by letting the market play out; if you allow the market play out, if it ends in losses or profits; you will be comforted and easily pick your lessons especially if you do the right thing.

Always do your own research.
We don't need to do anything right in the bullish market because all trading will give you enough profits. Even bullish research won't work in the bearish market. Those are perfect who passed the last bearish market. You could see that so many scam projects could give us huge rewards in the next bullrun. Just take your profits if you think about projects.
As a trader you can make profits irrespective of the market sentiments whether bullish or bearish although the OP is emphasing on the present bullish runs of the market a trader shouldn't just enter a trade blindly having some knowledge in charting and candlestick patterns enables such a trader to enter the market at an appropriate entry point.
Example the recent pullback of BTC/USD to a support zone at $16400, this should have been buying at low or dip, meanwhile at present the price had resumed it bullish run after rejected at that support zone.
3928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Covid19 effected bitcoin positive or negative? on: November 29, 2020, 12:01:58 PM
I realized a world that the wise said that, When people are sleeping transactions goes down mostly at night, grate  people makes there money at night, no grate man sleep 6pm to 6 am, Bitcoin had a great value even during the COVID-19,If Covid19 happens to continue for 5 years, And the lockdown is still effective in all countries, bitcoin world have been the major currencies see as a medium of exchange, people will be afraid of going to banks of touching money from someone hands or holding physical cash, they will be really afraid of contacting Covid19,bitcoin will continue her  transactions even when the countries are not in a good state.
All people is depending onnthe online world because of the impact of the covid 19 all of us are prohibited for going outside that is why others make a way to earn money especially on bitcoin.
Covid-19 had directly or indirectly affect Bitcoin positively, I believed in these period of lockdown many people took their time to learn and seek more information about Bitcoin probably put it into use by embarking on online transactions by paying for goods or services, thus receiving massive online presence during the pandemic and in the aftermath of dump in it price during the first wave in March, prompting lockdowns that was imposed in many countries Bitcoin recovered remarkably and it growing stronger in leap and bound.
3929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you scared? on: November 29, 2020, 05:24:35 AM
They are not scared, I think the right term to describe how they feel towards Bitcoin is " Doubtful".

Even if you introduce Bitcoin to people, they will doubt it big instantly. The more you explain it to them, and the more their brains can't keep up, the more they will be doubtful about bitcoin, especially those old people. But I really can't imagine that they are up to ponzi scams yet they don't want a safer way to earn money. I guess people only wants easy money that's good to be true because they are thinking that if they will invest their money on a investment that will let them do nothing and earn money while they sleep, they will gain profits over it, but sad to say that it's the other way around.

I don't bother anymore introducing and explaining Bitcoin to anyone ask, because if they want to use it, they will find a way to use it without asking so many questions.
It is really hard to explain the knowledge about bitcoin especially if those people are actually beginners and they have heard the bitcoin for the first time. Saying some terms about bitcoin is really hard to explain to them, and saying what is the benefit of the bitcoin itself will actually give them some doubt if you are really saying the truth or you are really gaining some profit like what you are saying, but if you tried to explain to them with some visuals and giving them some actual tutorial, that will really help them to understand.
Its quite difficult to make clear and convince old people who might want to receive some money from their ward based in abroad via Bitcoin having been used to the regular Western Union or other traditional means.
How to you convince them that its also compulsory to exchange the Bitcoin to Fiat in their local currency after receipt? they might be suspicious of Bitcoin being a scam this are salient issues that had to be resolved to trigger mass adoption of Bitcoin by unknowledgeable people else Bitcoin adoption will continue to suffer setbacks.
Practical teaching to those who have never use it before is very necessary in way to entice them into it.
3930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 28, 2020, 03:29:18 PM
...Aaand RIP my bets (again). We also lost the sportbet special along with it.

Penalty to Brighton at the end of the game after checking the VAR which removed 2 goals for LFC and they scored 1-1 Shocked
+ injury!
Klopp gonna have a heart attack Undecided

To be fair, Klopp has done a good job holding LFC together with this recent slew of injuries. Other managers would have crumbled, along with their games. Man United is a good example of what I'm talking about, even without many injuries, a badly performing manager will put the club in peril.
Injury to key players like Virgil van Dijk, Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold,  keita , Joe Gomez and  James Milner is too much to bear and a major setback to Liverpool I believe they will continue to struggle in EPL with the present Calibres of players in their squad although  their forwarders are injury-free but their defenders was hard-hit with injuries thus they will likely concedes many goals in their upcoming fixtures.
3931  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price 17000$ today on: November 28, 2020, 07:56:12 AM
For me, it's impossible for Bitcoin to create a new all-time-high this year after its rejection at around $19,000+ few days ago.
I am not negative on Bitcoin, I am just telling on what I can see on the chart.
I hope this correction will not go deep and will not last long.

I can only see this as a correction is happening and yes have a look on the chart where you can see the resistance level probably it looks like BTC will bounce back again, the momentum was very strong last week and now it's in correction period let's wait and see for few more days have patience and hope for the best.
The weekly chart attested to the fact that this week is price correction week a bearish candle was formed which had already started indicating a rejection at the support around $16K+ zone I believed between now and next week the correction will likely end and the bullish run could resume how long the correction is going to span and when its going to end is absolutely unpredictable we can only analyze, predict and do a calculated guessing to speculate the price, however I believed the price will reached $20K before the end of this year.
3932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: November 28, 2020, 06:10:28 AM
Chelsea - Tottenham is really a tough one to call, both teams have looked good recently and are in form. As far as I know, they also do not have any major problems with injuries or unavailable players.

I'm leaning towards Mourinho here - he's more experienced than Lampard and Son - Kane partnership is looking great this season. Chelsea's attack has not clicked yet, although both Werner and Havertz can decide the game with individual quality.
We do not determine who is an experienced coach. Lampard also has a good record in being a coach at this time, now both teams are in good form but here I am sure with Chelsea playing at home will not reduce their enthusiasm for winning I believe Werner can score goals for. the victory might be said to be difficult but for sure in this match it will be more interesting where I prefer Chelsea.

Definitely Mourinho is an excellent coach and he has more experience in relation to lampard, but in a football game the coach is not enough, there are other factors that can affect the result of the game. for this game chelsea is being given as a favorite

Crystal Palace  - Newcastle

I will wait for the first few minutes to see if I place a bet because this is a very unpredictable game
Chelsea become favorite against tottenham is strange for me , tottenham are on top of the table , they are also unbeaten since lost to and currently stand on 8 games unbeaten in the league since the last time they lost in premier league against everton 2 months ago.
They are also the least team to concede, 9 goals conceded out of 9 games played , amazing stats, yet bookmakers put chelsea as a favorite.
This is a little bit tricky, will chelsea beat tottenham? I am not sure to be honest.
Honestly the match is dicey the win can go either way I don't know why boomakers choose Chelsea ahead of tottenham despite their sparkling form in the league, they had an outstanding performance in Europa on Thursday beating Ludogorets 4 nill although Chelsea playing at Stanford bridge seems to be one the factor considered  be the favorite but I disagreed with that and also the host parading players like Werner, Havertz, Hakim Ziyech e.t.c Mourinho tactical abilities will be deployed to stop those players just like what he did to Bruyne when they played Man City.
3933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reason for calling Bitcoin scam on: November 27, 2020, 02:17:50 PM
To me, the main reason is because people are being scammed using bitcoin, so people then choose to hate it and then called it scam mostly out of the frustrating it brought them. I'm talking about people who are scammed in the name of investing in bitcoin. Another reason could be the blackmailers; those who don't want bitcoin to be globally adopted so they accuse bitcoin to be scam hoping that people don't choose to use it and will misunderstand it's use.

Lets set aside those common ponzi/hyip scam schemes that we've known.People do call bitcoin as a scam is on when the time they had invested on it and then
they do saw that their portfolio is already on reds then thats the time they talk about on being a scam without even knowing that the market does
really move in two possible paths which is neither do rising or falling.

When the time that they had seen that theyre losing money and they do anticipate that they can make quick profit if they had invested on it
then their perception and beliefs would really goes opposite with bitcoin.
In addition to this post the bankrupted and outdated popular ponzi scheme MMM once used bitcoin as a means of deposit and payment unfortunately when the scheme collapsed alot of people opinionated that the scheme and bitcoin are related and used to scam investors thus lack of knowledge about bitcoin discouraged many intending investors in investing in it. its quite very challenging to convince and change the mindset of such investors because of the bad impressions and experiences they encountered while involving in MMM.
3934  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto market is plunging on: November 27, 2020, 05:36:19 AM
Today all Crypto markets are starting a strong and significant price drop, a lot of top coins are falling like BTC, ETH, XRP ... there will be a price correction coming strongly, what do you think about this after the strong drop this morning

I have seen this so many times and I guess I will still see this so many times now and in the future, really nothing new, it's the market volatility that comes to play here, not every one of us here are thinking the same when it comes to buying and selling of our coins, everyone is for himself, or every group is for themselves.
Taking a look at BTC/USD daily time frame will attest to the fact that this is a minor or major correction that had been unfolding, weekly chart also reinforces this fact, price corrections had occurred times without numbers and this not going to be the first neither the last, I don't see any big deal in this plunge Price Action is just playing out there thus there is no cause for alarm or creating unnecessary FUD and I believed this correction will not be a replica of that of 2017 based on the fact that market conditions then and now differs a lot meanwhile experience traders must have capitalized on the price pullbacks and earn profits consistently.
3935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Life, gambling and trials. on: November 27, 2020, 04:03:53 AM
My perception about gambling money is that it is just a free money expended on pleasure and other things that satisfy my desires nothing else obviously money earned from gambling is not that much for investment purposes because I gambled with the amount of money I can afford to lose such that I am not expecting a huge returns from gambling I am earning some little bucks to socialize and enjoy myself with it.
I also avoided being a gambling addict in a bid to earn big and embark on investment purpose from the earnings because I know the consequences of  taking such action after reading many touching stories of gambling addicts who became bankrupt or even committed suicide.
3936  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I believe I made the right choice on: November 26, 2020, 04:59:21 PM
I ended up selling all my mining rigs to to advantage of this altcoin season, some could say it's a stupid move but I did this because it's the best option right now, the profits I'm making from my miners are not that much anymore, it's more like my setups can't keep up anymore, instead of investing on new miners i decide to buy top altcoins like Ethereum, LTC, XRP, BNB, Chainlink among the rest

If you have some old rigs or about to go obsolete setups I suggest you do the same before altcoins reach a new all time high

altcoin season won't last forever but I can make ROI faster than waiting for months or even years to recover my invested money on miners and electricity

Its obvious that the cost of electricity in setting up and maintaining those mining ring is high while advancement in technology is rendering most of these mining rigs obsolete, you made up your mind in selling them off at the right when altcoins had began to be worthy of investing on, I believed you will recoup your investment within the shortest period of time, I also believe other miners will follow-suit your decision based on the fact that crypto mining is becoming capital intensive and very competitive.
3937  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin on high demand Africa nigeria and Malaysia on: November 26, 2020, 03:32:33 PM
So instead of Bitcoin  if their own currency not so good why they just dont buy  stable currency like USDT? AM  I MISSING HERE SOME POINT?
Most people in those countries have a trust in bitcoin as a digital currency compared to the others digital curencies I believed majority of these people has gotten some insight about bitcoin and the ranges of values obtained from hodling and using is quite numerous compared with PayPal and the rest.
USDT is not a currency that can be obtain easily and does not have online feature like bitcoin were a hodler can have an easy access to it and possibly to do online transaction, Zimbabwean had resorted to the use of bitcoin as an alternative to USDT having been subjected to harsh economy inflation due to sanctions imposed on them by foreign countries.
3938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: November 26, 2020, 01:17:23 AM
LOL.  Oh my.  I'm done.  My bet is dead.  Atalanta got this one.

and atalanta go go Smiley

i warn all, Atalanta is good team and good society, built over the years

I am very happy, they are finally starting to get a little bit of serious experience in championships and they will certainly do well this year, we hope they can reach the quarter-finals Cheesy

well, i think everyone knows that Atalanta is a good team but they made bets on liverpool because they're better, but they should have avoid betting on liverpool to win, my bet  included both teams to score at 1.5, and i don't think they can score, Liverpool played terribly today.

This is really bad for Liverpool. Atlanta is also better than many people think, but still, they should not lose with 0-2 at home. At least I'm just assuming that they will lose it. Liverpool will remain at the top of the group, but it is getting more exciting now.
In the reversed fixture Liverpool thrashed them 5-0 I was expecting an outright win for Liverpool unfortunately they flopped and played badly parading some youngstars while resting key players is not a justification to playing badly in anfield in game of such magnitude UCL to make matter worst the host couldn't register any shot on goal is  beyond my imagination this really shows that they are very poor against Atalanta yesterday.
3939  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't repeat same mistakes on: November 25, 2020, 06:12:09 PM
The thing that baffled me was that some hodler who had made 10X profit refuse to sell due to greediness until when the massive dumping occurred thus they lamented and tagged cryptos with all sort of names, honestly the price of cryptos is unpredictable I remembered vividly during the last ATH speculations was going round that the cryptosphere that bitcoin will reach $50K many believed unfortunately the bear took over the market and and the rest is history, I believe many hodlers had learnt some lessons.
3940  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's your experience trading cryptos vs trading Stocks/Forex on: November 25, 2020, 04:02:18 PM
I have never had any experience trading in stocks or forex markets which kind of makes me curious on how the trading experience is as compared to crypto markets. I do have a few things i want to know

1. Is it easy setting up trading accounts in forex and stock exchanges like it is with crypto exchanges?
2. Do stocks and forex markets experience manipulations like it is with crypto markets at times?
3. Which of the 3(Crypto, Forex or stocks) can a trader easily make profits/loses?

I hope we do have people here with some past stock or forex trading experience  Wink
1.  Both forex and crypto account opening are similar although majority of forex brokers requires mandatory KYC except some few ones who had adopted deposits with cryptos and may not demand a KYC I am presently using one of those brokers.

 2.  Forex has big players and market makers like commercial banks, hedge managers e.t.c  they do manipulate the market even though there is market liquidity.

3.  I belief crypto is much easier compare with forex and stock market in crypto once the overall trend is bullish a trader will capitalize on any pullback and enter the market thus earning huge profits just like the current bullish trend of BTC/USD.
