3921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Robson Conceicao - Sept 23 on: September 03, 2022, 10:41:26 PM
Indeed, today the bookmakers have a clear favorite Stevenson, and it seems to me that if this changes closer to the start of the fight, it is not in favor of Conceicao, the more interesting the bets will be, because the most sophisticated and experienced boxer can miss.

Bookmakers seldom make mistakes. The odds difference went this far mainly because of these reasons;
1. Robson Conceicao is not a KO artist. Being heavy-handed is the major cause of boxing upsets as per common boxing saying that it would only take one punch to change the outcome of a fight.
2. Shakur Stevenson is a very technical fighter and is hard to get hit, this would further eliminate further the small chance of an upset as Conceicao is already a light puncher.
3. Shakur is the A-side fighter. Groomed by Top Rank as its next superstar and pound-for-pound fighter, like its former and present fighters De La Hoya, Pacquiao, Mayweather, Cotto, Crawford, Lomachenko, Inoue, and Fury. Close rounds will surely be given to Shakur, even probably not that close rounds for as long as he is not that dominated.
4. Last but not the least, Conceicao is fighting not just in Shakur's state of New Jersey but in his own backyard in Newark. In boxing, controversial hometown decisions happens and are even very common especially in Thailand and South Africa.

And to sum it up, Shakur is unbeaten so definitely bookmakers are going to put him as the favourite in this fight. We might as well call this fight a cherry pick for Shakur based on the odds, hehehe. Bookmakers are not giving any chance for Conceicao to win this fight, but it is what it is. He definitely had all the tools and beat presumably one of the best in this division in Valdez (and probably the 2 other champions.)
3922  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: RUIZ VS ORTIZ SUN, SEP 04, 2022 10PM ET EASTERN TIME/ on: September 03, 2022, 10:26:59 PM
Obviously as this is a heavyweight fight, both of them made it in the scale:

Andy Ruiz - 268 ¾ lbs
Luis Ortiz - 245.4 lbs

Here is the video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7OW2paxxtA

I'm expecting a entertaining fight, both could have their moments. So let's see which one can get it first because I'm not expecting this fight to go to the distance. Someone will have to get knock out here, hehehe.
3923  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Naoya Inoue vs Paul Butler - Undisputed Bantamweight Bout - December 13 on: September 03, 2022, 09:47:11 PM
It does not look good on the side of Butler, everyone is thinking that Inoue will win this, that -3300 is a big statement, big disrespect.
And hey, 97.1% chances of winning, it gives Butler an almost impossible chance to win.

As expected since the beginning and even that fight is not officially dealt with.

It's even fortunate that Paul Butler was given around 2% of winning the match  Not a disrespectful comment from me just to be clear.

Even though there's a thing called "lucky punch", Butler doesn't have the strength to give a fatal blow to Inoue even if he is able to land one.
The fan of his would also acknowledge that possible lucky punch despite all of those percentages of winning that has been shown.

Not a disrespect but this could be taken by him as a challenge and prove everyone that he's got what it takes to beat the champ. Well, that could just be his mindset upon looking at these odds and percentage that's shown to the public by many speculators.

Most likely that will be Paul Butler's motivation here, because he is a huge underdog so his mindset should shift gear and focus that he can do it, be positive against the Monster.

So in the first couple of rounds we will see if he can stay with Inoue and that motivation and his big heart of him will be enough to counter the power of Naoya and survived the distance. But I doubt it because Inoue is truly an amazing fighter and complete and still improving every fight.
3924  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Fernando Martinez vs Jerwin Ancajas rematch - Oct.8 on: September 03, 2022, 09:28:13 PM
He needs to win here, but if he losses, there's no other way but to move up in weight, though it will not hype him but IMO, that's the right thing to do for him to be comfortable in maintaining his weight. He will have to start his journey in a new division and hopefully we will continue to support him.

Let's say Jerwin Ancajas will lose here, does it really a good decision to just left that division and moved up?

How can he even get good fights at Super Bantamweight if he is struggling with some of the best fighters in Junior Bantamweight?

If he loses, moving up for me is not a good decision. Start from scratch and have a goal to become a champion again at Junior Bantamweight which is his comfort zone at most points of his career. He dominates that division for several years and I'm sure he can repeat it.

But of course, that was just speculation as I believed he will win here in this rematch against Martinez and then finally move up.

If the problem is weight then definitely he will have to move up because his body can't adapt to this lower weight anymore. And just like what Teo Lopez did, cherry pick a fighter, a boxer that has a good record, but he can easily beat in the fight because he has far more superior skills. It's up to his manager and promotions MP and Sean Gibbons to find him that target in the next weight and work his way up, put up a good string of wins and maybe he will have a crack at the belt again. Jerwin is young so the future is still bright for this kid.
3925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 03, 2022, 09:13:07 PM
I also read that the new coach wanted to used Westbrook and be a shooter.
That's funny because Westbrook will never be a great shooter, unless he will be the one carrying the ball and find ways to get inside and draw a foul. his point percentage has gone down, that's because he is not anymore with OKC, it's a different system that he is playing now which does not fit fully fit him.

Maybe a medium bank shot shooter because he is known for that. But to be honest, it might be a good idea for him to be like like P.J. Tucker because he might not fit that role and it could led to Westbrook really being traded because he will be exposed as a bad shooter.

It's better for him to do his role, dribble and penetrate and then assists outside and rebound to get his triple double every night.
3926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Problem, Is it Possible to be a Thing of the Past? on: September 03, 2022, 08:51:09 PM
It is very possible to make gambling a thing of the past because nothing remains constant in life, nothing will remain the same as long as the person in question is ready to accept change.

It might be, but it will take a lot of courage on the part of the individual to overcome his gambling addiction. And the person need a lot of help from friends and families.

Another thing that can help one is change of environment, and change of friends. If you have a group of friends that are addicts thesame way you are, there is no way your life can change, and there is no way you can make gambling a thing of the past.It is obvious that most people find it difficult to avert from gambling, but a change of mindset and a change of mentality toward it will help you make it a thing of the past.

Again it boils down to who are your friends are, because they will have so much influence on you. If you want to start new then maybe you can tell them straight face that you want out and doesn't want to gamble. You don't need to move out just to change your environment. For sure they will have to understand you and maybe themselves can also make a U-turn and have a change of heart to quit gambling or at least minimized it.
3927  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Casino Stake.com sued for $400 million on: September 03, 2022, 08:36:10 PM

right, when the authorities intervene in this case, it is not impossible that stake operations will be temporarily suspended until the court's decision is completed, Transferring funds temporarily to other gambling sites is a wise thing. money is always the problem with a company founded with friends or colleagues.

Suspending stake operation for this case is most likely not going to happen for now. This is an internal management issue involving partners on what way they have been treated and allegation of sharing or getting benefit but not financial embezzlement. So I think it will be in the jurisdiction of the court to determine against evidence presented or maybe out of court using ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) on a round table with some wine and bottles of beer.

More on the money side and I'm sure Stake have that enough funds to settle this if in case they'll going to lose with this case, but operation wise they won't allow any interventions as the main point here is for them to settle the claim and there' nothing to be confiscated as like you mentioned there's no financial issue or whatsoever.

Same with my first sentiment, if stake can throw huge amount of money for promotions, advertising and partnerships what more in this case, they can pay this for the operation to continue and not to allow their clients to fear out.

Definitely, it boils down to money, to the ex-partner that's why he sued the current owner of Stake. Even in other industries, this happen specially if the company become so famous and started to rake money, billions and billions like in this example.

But hopefully, they could settle their difference and move on. I'm not saying that Stake can't afford to pay $400 million, but for sure them and the lawyers will have to put up a fight and or at least lower what was initially ask by the complainant.
3928  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is bitcoin bear market over? on: September 03, 2022, 08:21:20 PM
Well not the thing you want to hear from my but I still suspect this is only the beginning of the 'bear market'.
I still do project a 'Bull Market' early 2023 or later on in that year so as long as you are patient and HODL your Bitcoins I am sure it will make it worth it to ignore the current Bitcoin price.

I guess it's better to hear it that way, instead of denying that we are not in a bear market or we will recover soon. Most likely recovery will start right after the halving, just like the previous bull run. And so if that is the case then almost 2 year we will have to wait. So the best thing to do while waiting is continue to accumulate, nothing beats the old strategy of DCA every month and see how much you can get till the next bull run.
Halving may come in 2024, a little bit excited. We need to survive and keep our emotions stronger and even more positive for the incoming as we still need to face the bear season for 1-2 more years. I just imagine during the last bear season that it takes almost 3 years, that seems possible to happen during this time. Well, anyways, we're just hoping for the best and we don't need to argue the situation whether it was bear season or it ends already, we really just need to prepared for anything will happen later.

Yes, but I think we can survived this bear market. We are very excited for the halving to happen but it is still very far that's why I said we need to take advantage of the current situation first because this is what we are facing. Time flies so fast, in the next coming months it will be the end of this year. And then we start 2023 and it's another fun time to accumulate before the actual event. Just take this bear market in stride and we will be good in so many ways.
3929  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: September 03, 2022, 12:37:53 PM

3930  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1 - The copycat epidemic within crypto casinos. on: September 02, 2022, 11:21:11 PM
Well even in traditional and land base casino's you can see a lot of similarities as well, maybe just some variations on the style and aesthetic of the casinos. But still the concept is the same, card table games, baccarat, roulette, slot machines, craps, fro the same provider.

And so this might be the case on some online casinos as well, and so they look alike, maybe the software being used is from the same provider, same with those slot games as well.

Correct. The most popular casino games were invented decades ago and now all of them have the same thing like roulette, blackjack, poker...

Crypto casinos started with dice but they are expanding. It's easy to say they're all copying the same thing but in reality they are thinking of adding new  things like crash or pachinko. Some sites have wheel of fortune and many other games. They are trying. If OP can make something better that's great. I hope it won't end with nothing but big words.

Yeah, and I think the point of contention here is the UI, that it has a lot of similarities to one site. Again, this might be true but you can't avoid it and I will go back again to the analogy on traditional base casinos.

Like what we have here in our country, big 3, games are similar, but if you look at the design, for example the entrance there could be quite differences but it is negligible. But once you go inside, the same games. So that might be the experience as well in crypto based casinos.
3931  Economy / Speculation / Re: All Eyes On Bitcoin’s Monthly Close on: September 02, 2022, 11:01:29 PM
It really makes me laugh when I read on the forum that people really believe in the new Bitcoin ATH at the end of this year. Cheesy

Perhaps they really don't understand what bear market means, or hasn't seen it before. But for us who have been here at least in 2017, have seen the worst in 2018-2020, this is just a repeat, so mostly likely this year is just the start of the bear market and might continue till 2023 or early 2024 or prior to the halving, approximately in May.

So yeah, we can't do anything at every month's end so just be prepared for the worst this quarter, at the end of the month. I still remember 2018 December though, some pump before Christmas and New Year, but that's it.
3932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Fernando Martinez vs Jerwin Ancajas rematch - Oct.8 on: September 02, 2022, 10:40:37 PM
It is has become a problem for him, then definitely it will have the same effect on his second fight. Unless he had someone to watch over his weight and not drastically lose everything like weeks before the actual fight. It should be gradual that his body will be like hone in with this weight, so it's really important to him besides his training regime. Otherwise, if they don't address this, and he come up making the weight but his body is really draining, then I see the same results.

The weight problem is really sensitive and it's hard to maintain the required weight once the boxer experiences struggling to catch it.

Remember John Riel Casimero? We always think that he is always in shape but guess what happened to him? Even though we saw him as a strong boxer, his weight problem resulted in him being stripped of his title.

We should trust now that the newly hired nutritionist, as mentioned above, will take care of Ancajas weight problem and will try to make him at his full 100% condition once he enters the ring now and face Martinez on this rematch.

Yes, Casimero should be the one fighting Inoue now hehehe.

Historically though, John Riel is known to have this weight issues, and he had to lost 10 lbs in days and was caught doing sauna by BBoC. Anyway, let's hope that Ancajas and his team learn fro this mistakes, they should do the right way of losing that weight safe for the boxers and not so drastic because it will have a bad effect on the boxers during their fight.

The DAZN recently releases their top 10 boxers in the last 30 years, it might be controversial because there are names missing on the list, but anyway, here they are:

1. Manny Pacquiao
2. Floyd Mayweather
3. Roy Jones
4. Bernard Hopkins
5. Pernell Whitaker
6. Oscar Dela Hoya
7. Felix Trinidad
8. Lennox Lewis
9. Evander Holyfield
10. Canelo Alvarez

For sure majority of us will disagree on the list, who you got on our list?
3934  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 02, 2022, 10:10:16 PM
About the Jazz, no more Gobert and Mitchell, who will lead the team? Clarkson?

Since the Jazz management decided to radically rebuild the team, I wouldn't be surprised if they also traded Clarkson and other players like Rudy Gay. In any case, I think we shouldn't expect any impressive results from the Jazz this coming season. Moreover, it's unlikely they'll be able to reach the playoffs or play-in tournament in the next few seasons.

Jordan Clarkson will soon be traded and chances are he will not be a Jazz at the start of the new season. It's a overhaul for them, and there will be no veterans to lead them.

On the other hand they will get this in the future for trading Gobert and Mitchell.

* Seven unprotected first round picks
* Three first round pick swaps

So we will see if Danny Ainge is a genius or not.
3935  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Merge - Vitalik memes and lots of expectation on: September 02, 2022, 09:57:29 PM
This eth merging just got me thinking alot because I don't even know what to do to consider being on the safer side, because the current eth price is below what I got mine. I don't sell out of playing safe, anything can happen in after the merge. All I can do is hold what I have but can't take or advice anyone to take the risk of buying more or in the name of taking advantage of the market.

If you don't know what is going to happen then it's better just to stay put and not do anything that will jeopardized your holding. Specially if you got it below the price, so don't sell is the best thing to do.

We are in one of the very worst months of crypto, do you know how many bad news are coming this month? The only reason to have some ETH in your wallet is those upcoming forks, I won't buy just because of the merge because crypto market is extremely bearish as we speak.

Right, we are in the bear market, but the thing is, it is still based on news and hype so this might be good enough for ETH holders to come out again and buy some and hold or just take the airdrop free coins due to the hard fork.

As long as you have the experience claiming those and then selling it right away, you will be good.
3936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Robson Conceicao - Sept 23 on: September 02, 2022, 10:46:49 AM
^^ Everyone is after the money, no more legacy or pride or try to be called the best in boxing. And of course there are styles as well, styles that make people buy tickets and wanted to see the fighters live to see how good they are like Tank Davis. But then again, boxing politics will stand in our for us fans to see if this fight is going to be made or not. But it's better for Shakur to just take one step at at a time, beat Robson in a dominant fashion like he did against Oscar Valdez and as I have said, go and unify the belts, we've seen Josh Taylor did it this year and Canelo has done that in 168 lbs. He should chase history first, before pursuing money fights.

If he will win against Robson in their upcoming fight, then its not only history that he will chase but also lots of money will be in his possessions. However, it’s always good to see a good boxer taking one step at a time because that will also give him enough time to master his own boxing skills and enhance what needs to be more develop. As for Shakur, it won’t be hard for him as he has already titles that prove his worth in the ring.

I really believe that Shakur will really win in this upcoming fight, I know that there's also other factors that could potentially get Shakur defeated but those chances are much slimmer. Though this is just a title defense fight, this fight is also an important step for his career as he will gain more experience from Robson and this fight will open more doors for him. Maybe after this he can go and fight against Joe Cordina to add the IBF belt in his possession.

Yes, same here, Shakur have a good chance to win against Robson, but he will have to train very hard and not slack because Robson is a tough boxer. Shakur boxing skills is just way above the current champion here, including lights out Joe Cordina. That will be a explosive fight as well even a match with Hector Garcia who recently beat former champion Roger Gutierrez  to get the WBA belt. So this are the 2 boxers that he need to beat to become the undisputed champion in the super featherweight.
3937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Dmitry Bivol vs Zurdo Ramirez on: September 02, 2022, 10:05:14 AM
Ramirez has a slight advantage in height, although it might be just the shoes that he is wearing.

Even if Ramirez is taller, I think Bivol can offset it with his hand speed and his great footwork.

For reference: Bivol @ 6 ft | Ramirez @ 6'2 ft

Not that much. I refer to some of Bivol's previous opponents and I saw he was once against a 6'3 ft and he won.

Although we can't compare the strengths of each of their previous opponents, we can conclude that height shouldn't be an advantage or disadvantage in this fight between Dmitry Bivol and Zurdo Ramirez. But on the humor side, possibly that Ramirez's shoes make him so much taller in that pic lol.

If only Ramirez will take advantage of his height and reach against Bivol. But then again, Bivol has a good ring IQ so it may have even it up or Bivol will have the slight advantage because of his footwork.

I heard before that Zurdo is 6'3 just like the heavyweight unified champion Usyk. He was a big super-middleweight and he doesn't even have a slim body which is the issue with taller fighters. Bivol meanwhile is a small light-heavyweight at 6'0.

Very interesting if we really look at this height campaigning at LHW, maybe it's possible for him to move up to CW with that height and bone density. Or maybe he was walking around the CW limit during off season. So he don't need to add more weight and he could be draining himself trying to make 175 lbs.
3938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 02, 2022, 09:39:09 AM
If Donaire really goes down to a lower weight limit , I think he will be one of the forces to be reckoned with.  A lighter boxer tends to have less powerful punches, except of course for some exceptions.  I believe Donaire can handle punches really well in the lighter category, plus his punch will be devastating.  If he is what he is saying then I can see Donaire reigning in the 115-weight division.
I do think that he really can. Coming from a higher division and going down to a lower one means that he can handle heavier than the light ones.
Do we have the news that he had talked about this already and that he'll be stepping down to a lower limit requirement for him to keep going with his career?
It's still an awaiting moment for his comeback and I think whoever he boxes, there will be a lot of fans that would love to watch and follow him wherever he goes.

Here is it, https://newsfortph.com/news/video-nonito-donaire-is-willing-to-go-down-to-115-lbs-to-win-another-boxing-title

Quote
"I would love to. I'm putting myself out there, in that mix with 'Chocolatito' and Estrada. That would be great. I am all for it," Donaire said.

"Making the weight is just such a simple thing for me. I mean, I could go down to 115 if I want to, you know, and still feel really strong," Donaire added.

So it's just a comeback fight, he is looking to fight the best in 115 lbs, Juan Estrada and Roman Gonzalez.

Estrada will have a fight on September 3 against Argi Cortes and maybe Donaire is targeting Estrada as the winner of that fight.
