39261  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Okay I have lots of sp20's I am in NJ, USA looking to sell some of them. on: February 13, 2015, 04:50:25 PM
whats the difference between a sp20 and a sp20E

 the sp20 is first edition
 the sp20e is newer

my sp20 is better then 3 of my sp20e's and worse then the other 5 sp20e's

all 9  of mine the  1 sp20 + 8 sp20e's  are within 5% of each other on clocks from 1000gh to 1300gh.

I never bothered doing higher clocks for any long amount of time due to heat and power limits of my garage.

With my garage 9 units at about 600 watts each is pretty much the limit.
39262  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Okay I have lots of sp20's I am in NJ, USA looking to sell some of them. on: February 13, 2015, 02:25:33 PM
does it really only use 560w at the wall? i may be interested, do you do local pickup? I'm in PA

okay here are the asics stats for 104 and 105

they are under 600 at the wall depends on the psu.  you can run 2 sp20e's on one evga 1300 g2

as for pickup we can meet at a public place like a target or a lowes.

So does this chase hot coins or predict the next hot coin?

Ending this for now.  No sales  for now!

No sales and locked.  I think the copycat got plenty of bad trust.

My thread below is one of the first on the sp20e's

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=872014.0

They run from 1000 to 1200 gh. Due to heat and power restrictions.

Why am I selling some of these off well I have 9 of them and 1 s-5 and 1 avalon 4.1  this is 11 in house miners it is the max I can do and even though it is cold as fuck 10f as I type spring is just around the corner.  Once spring comes I can only do 6 miners due to heat. I prefer to sell some a little early.

 Okay my terms no escrow.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Make a sane offer for 1 or 2 of them.
---------------------------------------------------------------

I will sell only 1 or 2 to a customer. I will sell 4 or 5 of them all together.

the results below fan is 1100 rpm quiet but if you ssh in and set it slower the unit is still cool enough.

Alternatively you can just set the max fan RPM to 30 [or around there for 1200rpm] if you know ambient is going to remain sensible. Ie don't cap the RPm off then put it in a 50C farm Tongue

Either way, 1100rpm is quieter than a Cube. I've missed this.

I am running my s-5 and the avalon-4.1 In a spare bedroom.  The window is open ½ to ¾ inches.

This gear would really clean up if it could be sold at a lower price point. It is truly quiet the  fan at 15% is under 1000 rpm

The settings I have finished with:

Mining Mode(Default: Customs)---------------------------------------------------------   Customs

Chip Frequency(Default: 450:390:370)------------------------------------------------   360:355:340

Chip Voltage(Default for 4.0: 8125, for 4.1: 8000)-----------------------------------  7250

Automatic Voltage(Default: True)-------------------------------------------------------  True

Fan%(Default: 20%)----------------------------------------------------------------------  15

gave me  this over night    watts are 460-470 at kwatt meter that is  about 0.56 watts

sound meter was 38db to 42 db

This miner actually is a true home miner the sound levels are wife friendly so when all is said and done I can keep these custom settings for now and then keep this miner on stock eco mode for the summer.  Use it to mine solo to keep in the game.

that is 500 gh and 244 watts = .488 watts a gh

39266  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Sp20 - New to mining on: February 13, 2015, 12:20:08 PM
unless your power is free you do not want to run these at 1500 gh.  they are like gpu's they waste a lot of power when pushed.

I don't know of anyone running a sp20 over 1.8th I have no idea where you think you can run one at 2.1 th

the good thing is those psu's can run 6 sp20's when clocked to 1100gh

I own a Kia Forte it can go 120 mph or 200 kph.  I do not try to power past those numbers.

I run it at 70 mph it works better.  Here is a suggestion lower your clocks to this setting.

you will get 3 x 1150 = 3450 gh your power will be 3 x 600 = 1800 gh

right now  you are doing 3 x 1550 = 4650  your power is 3 x 1250 = 3750

you are driving a kia forte at 120 mph

these are better settings

your asic stats will look like this.  notice my 1 machine uses 600 watts at the wall

39267  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [De-classified] Avalon 4.1 miner review on: February 13, 2015, 05:20:31 AM
Great job man!  Grin

800gh for 431 watt! Thats a nice ratio!
Thanks...the error rate seems a bit high but the reported speeds are accurate...can you reproduce my results if you edit the eco file?
I have been doing all custom with the rasp pi.
I based my rasp pi  custom settings on the info you gave to me---------------also used a new class 10 plextor card and a new class 10 sandisk card full size not micro in the rasp pi
these custom settings are really good.  I will try to ssh this tomorrow

845gh
460 watts

about 0.55 watts a gh

under  1% errors--------------------------------------------------------  this drifts up say .5 % then .8 % then flattens at 1.13 % over 5 hour time period.
sound meter 39-42db
fan 900 to 1240 rpm with 15% setting
temps under 44c

yeah with the custom settings of

Chip Frequency(Default: 450:390:370)                      360:355:340
Chip Voltage(Default for 4.0: 8125, for 4.1: 8000)          7250
Automatic Voltage(Default: True)                                      True

the results below fan is 1100 rpm quiet but if you ssh in and set it slower the unit is still cool enough.

I get 840gh use 460 watts  about 0.55 watts a gh and  38-45db with stock fan.  I am done with custom setting tests for efficiency 0.55 watts and 840gh is good enough for me.  Tomorrow I tweak fan settings.

39270  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New diff thread Feb 9 to Feb ? this has a promo for best guess. on: February 13, 2015, 04:36:30 AM
the site below is the most accurate on day to day.

http://btc.blockr.io/charts

feb   9th   164 blocks  norm is 144---------but part of these were last adjustment
feb 10th   132 blocks  norm is 144
feb  11th  159 blocks   norm is 144
feb  12th  124 blocks norm is  144

so running 3 day total is  415  3 day normal is 3 x 144 =  432   so for the 3 full days we are (-3.93%)

Now I am not saying a player like ghash is turning 30ph on and off and we are seeing diff seesaw due to this.  I am saying it has become a financial possibility that can work.

A more likely reason for see-saw action is many people are on the fence with diff and btc rate.  last adjustment made mining a loser and people have shut off starting this first couple of days. the one up day could be variance.  Are we  in the end game for asic's will we get a 0.1watt unit no not unless serious money and demand drives the btc price to 500 or 800 usd.

The new site I post above I like quite a bit.

  I still refer to www.bitcoincharts.com and www.bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

maybe my  -1.11 percent  will be a nice guess I suppose I could give half to seriouscoin
39271  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: lowest $/ghs? on: February 12, 2015, 11:50:42 PM
s3's are cheap used.  I am in NJ USA if you are close to me I have 2 s3's they will do freq 212 each .

you get 830 gh to 850 gh  using 680 watts

whats going on with the network? 57 minutes since the last block find?  Huh Shocked

Luck applies everywhere.

I'm glad to see projected difficulty change leveling out.  At current price, increases in difficulty are insane.

144 is standard

Feb 9-----  164
Feb 10 ---  142
Feb 11 ---  159

Currently at 9.88 mins between blocks.  If it stays that way, we're looking at 1.2% increase.  Of course 2/23 is a long way away... things can change a lot between now and then.

M

True 3 or 4 days of 140 are good.

39274  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: SP20 fan noise. on: February 12, 2015, 08:52:10 PM
The SP20's stamped honeycomb fan grill is not the best in terms of noise and airflow.  It ranks a bit past midway in both categories and somewhere around the middle overall among the most common fan grill pattern/design in the market.  The best overall is the wire grill.  Of course, the best of the best is "no grill" at all (hence I removed the stock wire grills of the S3s).

I can attest to the "whineyness" of the honeycomb grill pattern.  I have a Mini-ITX/Haswell rig (workstation/gaming/HTPC) which I built late last year that is housed in a BitFenix Prodigy case.  The whole point of the build was to have a multi-purpose PC that is green and quiet so I could semi-retire the other ageing, watt-guzzling, bleeding edge rigs.  Unfortunately though, the BitFenix case has a stamped honeycomb grill (with a dust filter) at the bottom for the PSU air intake.  The rig is powered by one of my spare CX500M mining PSUs.  The CX500s are very quiet pulling around 410W at the wall powering an S3.  The Mini-ITX rig with a disrcrete mid-range video card idles at around 50W at the wall (stock settings) yet it produces an annoying whine coming from the PSU.  At first, I thought that it was the PSU itself (fan bearing going bad) so I tried a different CX500M to no avail.  I've been planning to Dremel out the honeycomb grill (and just leave the dust filter on) but it's gonna be a major project so I gotta find time for it.

http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Effects-of-Grill-Patterns-on-Fan-Performance-Noise-107/

yeah I have considered getting a step up drill bit and making the holes bigger.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000FZ2UOY/ref=dp_olp_new?

not looking forward to doing 9 sp20's with that drill bit.

I have done this on grills works.  I would do 4 bigger holes on the grill at   12 3 6 9 o'clock listen and measure.  if lucky  only 4 ½ inch holes could alter the sound enough.

they will certainly allow for more air flow

this is at 1115gh or so fan is at 6%

would you be so kind and tell me your config?
I'm awaiting 4 SP20s Smiley
A config at 600-620W would be perfect.

it is off topic but

39275  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Review of Avalon-4.1 on: February 12, 2015, 08:44:45 PM
spent a long time doing customs as the settings

found a very good setting

849 gh  dh  errors  = 0.565%   I am using 492 watts = .58 watts per gh

I like this setting.  If I swap this with the pair of  s-3's at my buddies office.

I get the same hash rate and drop power from 680 to 492 watts.

 here are the settings

39276  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Review of Avalon-4.1 on: February 12, 2015, 08:22:50 PM
Okay real fast on eco mode it gets .488 watts a gh very good but so far eco mode locks me into 244 watts and 500gh

they should send a sd card preflashed for your rasp-pi what a p.i.t.a. to flash an sd with a mac.  gave up purchased a reader/writer for my windows 7 and flashed an sd card in under 30 minutes.  works nice with a rasp pi. setup is very easy with a rasp pi and a good sd card.

back to efficiency this is a great office miner.  it is basically silent under 40db which is no noise at all.  so if you are a free power guy but must be quiet this seems better then the s-5 or sp20.

I am running 2 s-3's in my friends office at 2.4 cents a kwatt this is a good replacement for them.

more to quick seller   the s-5 is a tweakers delight .  there are 10 or more fan setups I did mounting setups and when sidehack comes out with a voltage controller (95% or so) the s-5 will be even more tweakable then now.

This is a set it and forget (at least I hope it is) .  Once I fuck with the custom setting and figure out the best numbers to use it will sit and mine quietly for a long time. It has a place for some of us.

It is not for a 10 miner in the garage setup.  Or any bigger farm. 100 in a barn 50 in a warehouse space.

But the guy that really needs peace and quiet this is the one. I will figure the best you can do in the next few days on the eco or custom end. Efficiency wise.

Is this quieter then the S3s?

yes unless you swap out one s-3 fan put in the silverstone 141 as the pull fan and downclock to freq 193

that  gives you about 380gh and the  s-3 uses around  300 watts.

the 2 in my friends office  are clocked to freq 212  have the stock fans and are a bit noisy.

I am getting 830-850 gh using 680 watts. that is .8 watts a gh for my current s-3's

So 1 of these will do more gh  use less watts and be quieter.

I will set it to do 900gh use 560 watts.  that will be .61 watts a gh for the a-4.1

I will sell off the 2 s-3's cheap on ebay.  It will work because he spends 2.4 cents a kwatt on power.
39277  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Review of Avalon-4.1 on: February 12, 2015, 05:18:06 PM
I like the form factor of these a lot more than the S5, but I just don't see how this can be competitive vs the S5 or the SP20. A three-pack of these is BTC6.39, or $1405.80 + shipping. Meanwhile three S5's are $1110 + shipping and three SP20s is $1195 with free shipping.
The only possible benefit I can see is lower noise vs the others, but then if you downclock the SP20 to Avalon4 levels you can run at 10% fan where noise isn't a big deal either, plus the SP20s are a good bit cheaper.

This is truly quieter then the sp20  not really close.  I have sp20s at 6% fan speed  and it is quieter then the s-5 delta fan  mod at freq 312. It looks better then the s-5.

But it is costly and is more of a show piece item for your office. For me I  will use the one piece to replace 2 s-3's at my friends office.

I also believe  as a concept piece for space heating it is a winner.

A smart company that builds space heaters need to look into this tech and consider making a Delonghi miner/space heater.

http://www.delonghi.com/en-us/products/comfort/portable-heating

I will continue testing the custom part of miner config's
39278  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Review of Avalon-4.1 on: February 12, 2015, 05:13:29 PM
so custom and 340 at  7250 volts gives best dh rate

next is 330  = 20.15gh a chip at 7000 volts

I would have thought I would have a higher hashrate but dh is really low

39279  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Review of Avalon-4.1 on: February 12, 2015, 04:54:50 PM
so on custom   340 for freq  7250 for volts and false for auto volts looks rock solid

this is easy but it appears that custom setup does not give the same watts per gh that eco does.

Choice of modes I picked custom

on custom I set freq 340 - 20.75 gh = 800gh  volts = 7250------- I used false for auto volts--- I go to see dh errors and decide if volts are good

this is getting really good error numbers

39280  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Review of Avalon-4.1 on: February 12, 2015, 04:47:04 PM
post above shows a simple way to set custom but i underpowered it so I set same freq 340 = 20.75gh per chip = 800 gh and gave more power

better results  with added power 7125 vs 7000

less errors higher hash
