3941  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S5+ control board on S7? on: December 02, 2015, 04:28:14 AM
As far as S5+ I only have had one but had good luck with it - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1157426.0

So I don't think your problem is related to S5+ in my eyes. Since it's new you need to make sure to contact bitmain to get warranty work.   I'm assuming did you buy from bitmain or did you get elsewhere?

I did have a S3 with temp problems they told me as long as it had 1 working it was fine.  So I ran it with one and it worked fine.  I'm betting they tell you it's fine as long as one is getting a temp.  But they might have changed policy as that was in S3 day's.
3942  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How do you get free power? on: December 02, 2015, 04:12:50 AM
If I was doing this in a big way then I think batteries are a no no, just too expensive & they need replacing at some point. I think the thing to do is to "cheat".  Smiley

Have a grid tied system and run the miner off the mains in the usual way. Choose an appropriately sized miner for the overall solar power you are generating and then just keep tabs on the solar power you have generated and the grid power consumed. Then do some maths on an ongoing basis to check the profitability. Over a period of time you will get exactly the same result as having a large battery bank, but without the initial and ongoing replacement costs.

Rich
Oh yeah, but then you're using the grid as your battery. If you're doing this in a cabin far from humanity that's what you will need.

Also it's interesting to note how much power you need to run a modern-ish life off grid. A fridge pulls 100-200 watts 24*7, there's 20% of that amount. Lot of batteries and panels needed to run the modern life. So go hug your utility guy sometime....

I think this is true.  Miners use a LOT of power if using a decent sized one.  You easily can run thousands of watts on miners even in "home" mining.  And "hobby" miners are even more then that.

I just do not see a big payoff when you spend the amount on even just solar panels.   Going cheap electric is going to win every time.

Price is not heading the way we want on conbase: 1 BTC = $349.86

I did see on coindeks gawminers CEO finnaly was charged by SEC -http://www.coindesk.com/gaw-faces-ponzi-scheme-charges-from-sec/ .  Hopefully this does not get mixed up in press with bitcoins.   Not sure how much "regular" press something like that will get.

I just hope we see it start to head back up again on price.
The price was at and below these levels not even a week ago, so I doubt that the recent drop is having all that large of an effect on the hashrate.

Thinking somewhat outside the box, someone may have miners that are only profitable to run above $345, but take a little bit of time to get running again, so there may be somewhat of a delay from the time the price is above $345, and when these miners get turned back on. If the owner of these miners thinks the price will be sustained above $345 then they may not be in a huge rush to get the miners turned back on, however if if price is only slightly above $345 but the owner thinks the price may fall below that price soon, then the owner may be more rushed to get the miner turned back on so they can realize a little bit of extra mining profits before the miner must again be turned off due to them being unprofitable.

I can see where your coming from on miners turning on.  At this point I think a lot if not most sell the miners off.   You can add a decent amount to ROI by selling miner once it's not profitable for you.  Someone with cheap or "free" electricity buy's it.

I can't imaging holding till a certain price as miner goes down in price over time.  I sell and re-invest on old miners.
3944  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S5 mending on: December 02, 2015, 02:21:51 AM
Hi all!
I've 10 antminer s5 and 4 s7 miners. I think mining is interesting and it's good hobby  for me.
4 antminer s5 hashboards (v1.91) failed, they went only 4 months. I bought them directly from Bitmaintech. Temperature and power is optimal in my mining room. My 20% percent breakdown ratio is very frustrating. What is you experience about s5 failure frequency? (Power and internet connection is very stable.)

With them being a private company we likely will never know failure rate.  We know it was small enough they kept pumping them out and made a profit.  But how many died.... we don't know.

The S5 for what it's worth ran hot and loud.   I was not the biggest fan of the plastic sides, just seemed cheap compared to other designs.   But I have one that was a batch one still alive and kicking.  Mine has had hot summer, lost network, lost internet, etc.  And never has had a big issue.  Only thing was a few times it seems 1 blade goes off and it needs a reboot.

So I think it varies greatly.

I think you are reading some of these posts wrong.  Where are you seeing people who are appreciative for your postings?

I honestly don't think there are any out there.   All I'm thankful for is you stopped using bold and massive font, guessing mods had something to do with this.
3947  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: December 02, 2015, 12:22:35 AM
I found MMMGlobal.info to be the best way to get Bitcoins..

it seems suspicious kind a ponzi or something like this, how it work exactly?

According to the Wikipedia article on Sergei Mavrodi (the creator of both the old - ponzi - MMM and the new MMM) it's a pyramid scheme. I've seen an article where Mavrodi acknowledges pyramid schemes are illegal in the EU, but wants to expand into the EU anyway.

Ponzis and pyramids are similar. The main difference is that with a ponzi Mavrodi would act as a "hub", and payments would flow to him. With a pyramid scheme payments are made to the person "above" you in the pyramid - typically the person who recruited you to the scheme. Mavrodi sits at the top of the pyramid, and will gain from payments from the people immediately below him.

Not just on EU but also here on Asia and I guess he wanna spread that ponzi shit all over the world. I don't still get why people were still into it despite of its bad history and background Undecided

It's a good question.  I could not figure out why so many fall for ponzi's.  If someone comes up to you and say's "I can make your BTC worth X more in X day's invest in me!".  It's a huge redflag.

You cannot guarantee a profit of X amount in BTC you just cannot be that exact.  You can speculate... but be exact no.  So anyone who is so sure they can do it do not trust them.
3948  Other / Archival / Re: REVIEW: Pros and Cons of different Bitcoin Storage methods vs. Malware on: December 02, 2015, 12:19:24 AM

I think that theory is wrong. Blackwater... or The Rock, i believe, they are named now, hire such ex military. But these guys are EX for a reason. The end result is that the US government hires these soldiers to make war and these guys regularly are involved in killings of civilians and such things. These ex soldiers often enough are psychos or have some kind of problem.

Having to trust someone is always a risk

Maffia has psychos in them that doesnt mean that they cant keep order in their "family".

It all comes down to incentives and trust. If you hire wolfs to guard your sheep, then you might have it safe, since if 1 wolf tries to eat the sheep, the other wolfs will stop him and eat him instead.

I think most bitcoiners learned the lesson "Trust no one" (at least when it is in bitcoin area) the hard way. Having to trust someone is always an additional risk. Like having coins laying on an exchange. They might have a vault and all but still... risky.

And i think you miss that wolfs are pack animals. They hunt in packs. One mafioso speaking about all the money they guard and their measly wager they get each month. Well... i would not be so sure about the outcome.

If i would have to trust i think i would collect the persons by checking their personalities very carefully.

I still say I would take a paper wallet only I know, or a hardware wallet only I know.   I don't wan't guards if I was doing huge amounts of money compared to what they pay.

Greed is a strong thing.  Sadly some fall into greed and you could easity have a bad security guard.  Imagine when the security guard figures out if he gets your BTC there is no reverse button... I hope you don't get anyone who greed shines it's head to.

I'm glad you feel this way. That is why a special lady is now unbanned.  Grin

If you don't like her, my recommendation is to put her on ignore. Just like how I put Gleb on ignore.
The way that I feel is pretty similar to the way that it works. You can feel free to ask any staff member.
Also, thank you for bringing up a completely irrelevant subject. Try to come up with something relevant to the topic at hand, especially when talking about off topic posters.

I don't mind posting like this. Lauda minds though, so I'm speaking for Lauda.
You either misunderstood or you're deliberately trying to be awkward. By the way you've tried to call out Lauda for essentially nothing before it looks that you have a bit of a grudge on them for some reason.
Talking about the forum or Bitcoin its self is no problem as long as what you're talking about has some relevance. Hence why posts like this are allowed, hence why the entire Meta section exists. Going to the Off Topic section and posting on 'What drink did you last drink' every day to boost your post count is not adding to anything whatsoever, as no one cares about what you post there.
I'm sorry you upset with me. Let's try to be civil.

God is able. God is good.  Grin I don't understand. I care for this community. Do what you can to help the community, for I am helping. We are strong when we are together as family coming up with ways to make this site better. Grin

Actually some people hurt more then they help on being a member of the community.   With how you have threads in meta and lock them.  Post in huge font, or calling out Lauda.... you are just not really helping.

If you want to help bitcoin community I suggest leaving meta alone for a while.    I think it's best for all.  This thread will go no where, they are not going to limit posts.  And there are valid points for not doing it to.
3950  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 01, 2015, 11:55:44 PM
Which frequentie are you using ?Mine is comming! Before i had the s5

I am using frequency 500 and fan speed 50

I am getting 3524 GH/s average after 2 1/2 hours, fan rpm 3210, temp 38 74 75, input voltage dropped to 11.8 from 11.9 when using 400 frq and 20 fan speed. I would say this is significantly quitter than S7, but not in a same room quite for longer period, I will be ok if it is running in the living room.

What PSU are you using right now?   With voltage being 11.8-11.9 it is going to run slower.

Some PSU's are just better then others on input voltage.  My EVGA 1300 is better then my Lighting 1300 when I was testing.  And really those cheap dell 750 PSU's multiple people have reported good luck using two of them.
3951  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: B-Eleven sha-256 ASIC miner on: December 01, 2015, 11:51:51 PM
We need a low cost miners that can hash in the the tera's...  The S7 is great and all but it's so expensive..  I'm just a hobbyist miner but with the difficulty increasing all the time, it's starting to suck for us small guys  Cry

Actually some miners are already cheaper as higher BTC price.  This causes  the miners to be cheaper if you were holding onto BTC.  So that is good if holding already, if you are not holding it has no effect.

But i have a feeling "low cost" will not meet where you want it to.  If you want current gen miners you pay for it... and they hold value longer and you can even sell them one day when you go to get new.   If your wanting "low cost" you really need to have lower electricity and then can look at used miners.
3952  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: December 01, 2015, 11:46:24 PM
I'm pretty sure that bfgminer suport decimal freq, not hex.
5.4.0+ bfg supports decimal frequencies, 5.3.0 still used hex, so unless he's building an old version yes, it should be decimal.

And if he is using a old version I suggest for him to update.  Using decimal's compared to hex seems to save some users from using wrong hex.

I am happy he made it start to take decimal's.  It makes it easier for a beginner user which I think is good in long run.
3953  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How to make btc faster throug mining? on: December 01, 2015, 11:43:16 PM
I want to know that how can i make btc faster through mining.
Is this the best way to make btc and from where does this btc comes to miners.?

--------------------------------------------------

Step 1

Learn how mining works....

Step 2

Buy a miner...

Step 3

Earn bitcoin...

--------------------------------------------------

Always know this.... There is no way to cheat the system & earn BTC faster than anyone else does....

Is it just me?? Or is the BTC price going up again coupled with the halving of the coin bringing out the usual bunch of rip merchants / scammers / get rich quick people??

mining is not for micro-miners...
I invite you to compare:
learn about probable profit with 0.01BTC

learn about 0.01 BTC invested in winspiral's U2cloudmining

invest where it is better...And you will not regret my advice if you invest in winspirals system or better...
But DO NOT INVEST in what is worser...

Take your bullshit ponzi scheme somewhere else, nobody is falling for it and we won't let new users get suckered into it either, no matter how much you pad the wording.

A U2 as in bitmain's U2?  That is pretty rediclous if your are claiming those usb's to be a cloud mining system... is that what your saying?

If so can you take a picture of the U2's? I want to see how many are in this "cloud".

Why do you need a picture?
Is an CMD window not enough?

Invest in my cloudmining and you will earn more than if you buy an U2 and mine for yourself.

Are you suspicious?
claim shares for free twice a day and you will benefit from it...

i'm not shamed to say that it is better to invest in my U2cloudmining than buying one and mine with it.

is having fun ridiculous?
perhaps...I have fun and if it is ridiculous...it does not matter.

You want know the profit of my cloudmining investors?
it is easy to know it:
Claim for free and follow the process in your account and you see if you have miss an opportunity (investing) or if you have take the good choice (not investing)

People are sometimes funny...
you are funny...(thanks)
I like funny people...(lol)

...PS:
if you had visited my 2ucloudmining site you had not ask your question because the answer is on the site.

I do not mean to be mean but with your rep I would not click any link from you.  It's nothing personal just with neg rep I don't touch your links as a general rule.

Why do you not want a picture of U2's on forums?  I feel you have a reason to hide it, maybe you don't have them, maybe you have just 1 or 2.  I think you are one with agenda not wanting to show them.  A picture of all the U2's is much harder to fake then CMD window.

neg trust can be fake too...(lol)
what do you talk about "all the U2's"?
where have you heard about...in your dreams?
I have only one U2 and it is not working now...it happens sometimes and so far I and noboddy here could help le to solve this problem.
But this does absolutly not matter...
If you do not "touch" my links...then you cannot talk about...sorry.
Or just like you do...not seriously...
you talk about thing you take from your dreams...how do you want that members here who know same or even more about believe you if you do not know about what you are talking.

Do you blame someone for not wanting to touch your links?   Yes negative can be false... but you sure are not backing up your "investment".   So it seems justified in this case.

Even if he actually has these in his possession, what the hell kind of investment relies on a 2 GH/s miner that consumes 3W?  There is zero scalability or profitability, except for him by using misleading language to convince people to invest with him.

A single Antminer U2 will generate ¢3 a week before power costs.  Nothing you can possibly do outside of theft, fraud, manipulation or a ponzi will get more money out of that out-dated miner even with 1,000,000 days.

what do you mean?
my concept is new...never seen before...how can a new concept be an OLD concept?

Please, tell us what your concept is, and how if I invested 1 BTC with you you would turn it into more than 1 BTC for me, without relying on others investing.

I was just curious to see ho many U2's he considers a cloud... they are very dated machines.  I mean 1 compac running and I could claim to have 8 U2's.  Or use a U3 and even more.

I thought you would have no issue showing the U2's.  I just wanted to see as I have not seen anyone else with stick miners claim to be big enough to consider it a cloud.

You just seem like your hiding facts.  And I could be wrong, but seems like all info you present is not backed up.  That is my opinion I realize that.

3955  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 21.co bitcoin computer! on: December 01, 2015, 11:36:00 PM
It's not the ASIC that controls the wallet, it's the controller setup the ASIC is connected to - for an insane amount of overprice.

For virtually any other normal miner I would completely agree with you. My comment wasn't made out of random ignorance. I would swear that I read that the 21 Inc ASIC has a wallet address buried in the logic. I don't understand why, though it may all be wrapped up in some DRM scheme unique to them.

I don't think there is any reason to consider this a "normal SHA-256" mining engine. 21 Inc. doesn't sell miners in the usual sense, and hence to think we can apply our experience from others (e.g. Bitmain Avalon, BFL, etc.) is probably not right.

As I said before, if you buy into their overall scheme that's great. If not, it's probably best to move and not speculate too much on what, how, and why they did what they did. While the speculation might be fun, it's a bit pointless in my opinion.

One interesting question: Have -ck or Kano been contacted by 21 Inc? Can they say so if they have?

I still think they just wanted to tell investors they had a product.  So they made a massively overpriced product they can sell and they know sales will be low.  So they could make 1 batch of these and it would last a LONG time.

Now when they go to investor ... yes we have a product launched.  Even though most of us agree what they have is not much of a miner at all.
3956  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Nov 23 to Dec 7 Set up stage- Picks Closed! on: December 01, 2015, 11:32:35 PM
Not sure what the rules are and maybe I'm too late but I'll take 10.7 if I can.

you are too late as blocks mined are past 1200

2016-1200 = 816  we are now at :

After 801 Blocks, About 5.1 days

Thanks for posting it already.  Just got on. But no future picks this round. They are closed as block 1200 passed.

Best of luck to all.
3957  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is the best trusted website to earn btc? on: December 01, 2015, 06:02:53 PM
i just invested some in satoshi dice and some btcjam, both seem pretty good,  Smiley
Gamlbing is not the best way to earn BTC at all! you can lose the investment at anytime

Btcjam is probably worse than gambling since your chances to find an honest person there are near 0.

also, they literally do nothing to help you in case of fraud.

BTCJam needs to change before I would ever touch it on investing.  If someone defaults they give you their info and wish you luck... that is crappy.  And has caused a lot to default.     People with nothing to lose don't care if they look bad online.

So really don't loan money and don't gamble.
3958  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to learn mining. Where should I start? on: December 01, 2015, 06:01:06 PM
Hey Guys,

I have a startup company about bitcoin in UK so I'm trying to learn everything about bitcoin. I'm trying to learn bitcoin mining. Where should I start and which mining machine should I buy?

P.S.: Just trying to learn this thing. My aim is not making money.

If you are just learning, either buy a new geccoscience compaq or a cheap second hand S3/S5 on this forum. Use them to experiment and learn... Afterwards, you need to make a full study in order to see if mining is profitable for you, which costs you have to make in order to start mining, what are the running costs and how much profit you'll make.

But to start out, a compac stick or an S3 or S5 will do to teach you the basics Wink

I'm so excited. OK, I will start with S3. Thank you so much Smiley

Honestly with 10 cent's I'm not sure a S3 would be my first choice.  Do some ROI math but S3's are just not efficient these day's. They are great machines and built like tanks... but at 10 cents unless a bargain I dont see ROI happening.

I suggest looking into new miners and running ROI math.  Make sure to use one like https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator so you have difficulty changes.  But try a few different miners in there.

Also never invest more then you can lose mining is not guaranteed ROI.
3959  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] New "Ancient" ranking / higher than Legendary on: December 01, 2015, 05:54:15 PM
What would be the minimum activity, 2000?

For Jr. Member it's 30, for Member 60, for Full Member 120, for Sr. Member it's 240, for Hero 480 and for Legendary (although random) it's around 960.
Then the logic answer would be 1920, either exactly that or somewhat random around that. So about 5 years and 3 months of full activity would be required.

If you do it I would hope they keep the randomness of legendary.  So have a range you get it within but it is a big range.

Like how I'm still hero but could hit legendary any activity change.  Makes it kinda fun.   So please keep the random feature if you do add another rank above legendary
3960  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to mining and wanting to start with it. on: December 01, 2015, 05:48:18 PM
First of all I hope this is the right section to post this, if not sorry!

What would I need to start mining with two 4.8 Th/s Antminers s7.
I've read a lot about mining and I know that mining with less then 5 Th/s would not make you that much money and even if the price goes down back to 200 mining with two would be manageable right? But I am willing to spend some on a cool new experience and a new investment, hoping 2016 will be a good year for Crypto currency. Or even few years later

Like I said I've read a lot and watched a lot of vids the last few weeks, but I really want to hear some personal experience with mining and especially with an Antminer S7. Do you think this might be an good investment? How long are you in this community and how long are you using bitcoins.

I'm from The Netherlands and I've read something that Europe will be or is the captital of crypto currency because of the US and some laws? Let me know about it I'd love to learn more!

Unlikely Europe will be capital of crypto... the VAY kills a lot of mining operations.   Canada, US, and ofcourse China it's safe to say are ahead of Euroope in amount of hash (i think i can say safely).

But do some ROI math.  What is your electricity price and what is your vat/import tax?  Sadly a lot of erupoe is so high they need to find a data center to hold miners in a different part of world.
