3941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New coin FairCoin (FAC) Concept, needs ur opinion on: May 07, 2013, 12:47:50 AM
Change the name, it is too easily confused with fairbrix.

e.g. bitstart.sh, devstart.sh, fairstart,sh, namestart.sh, groupstart.sh startup scripts for starters.

Then on into greps and wildcards too, adding keystrokes needed to find stuff.

Etc.

3942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: May 07, 2013, 12:43:20 AM
IRC server is probably down again.

This coin, like many others, needs some "stable nodes" whose IP addresses can be coded into it as fallback IP addresses and some hostnames that can be coded into it then have their IPs changed to point at stable nodes any time the node they point at ceases to be a stable node.

Meanwhile you need the IP of a node that has its incoming port open, to add on commandline or in config file using addnode=##.##.##.##

In DeVCoin, we reward admins for running stable DeVCoin nodes.

Other coins lack reward structure thus have tended to lose their originally coded in expected to be 24/7/365.25 nodes over the years.

So what you're saying is, run p2pool yourself, don't use someone else's copy (or software they run) ?

3945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] BBQ coin on: May 07, 2013, 12:10:04 AM
So how much does 100,000 BBQ go for now?

No wait, I mean, how much does it cost to buy it, not how much can I dump it for!

Hahahah

Really this retards are mining a fake coin and trying to sell it? LOL.

Isn't that pretty much exactly what (whoeveritwas? some forum or 4chan or something?) used to say about bitcoin?

3949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ANN Yacoin seems to be released. Current diff 0.001 something. on: May 06, 2013, 11:46:16 PM
It's not novacoin network. It is its own network. They create a new network by only changing the irc channel ... all miners clients connect to it and know each other that way. Quite easy to create a scam money from nowhere. Grab the source code, rename all "*coin" to "yourcoin". Recompile. Done. New network, new blockchain, enjoy. Cheesy

Fine until you do happen across a node of the other network.

Then your connection handshake works, you notice blocks do not match, and maybe disconnect each other as naughty nodes or kindly help each other get onto the longest chain, orphaning the other chain...

(For example, someone runs NVC as well as the new clone both behind the same household router. Both connect to an IRC channel. Same IP address and port now appears in both IRC channels. If that port is open to incoming connections the fun begins...)

3950  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] BBQ coin now listed on bter.com on: May 06, 2013, 11:38:57 PM
I wonder what the mean time between all your coins vanishing due to millionaire relic-collectors is on this exchange?

-MarkM-

Just use this link to fund your account Smiley

http://bter.com/myaccount/deposit/bqc

Ah, an empirical test, eh?

Hmm, I am still somewhat inclined to wait for Vircurex to pick it up. At least that way if a relic collector does collect he'll get all my coins in one basket! Smiley

Actually 19691 blocks> what the fuck

Hence the questions aimed at discovering what network it is connecting to.

Are people losing the coins they thought they had mined, as would happen if for example it managed to connect to the Novacoin net and realise everything it thought it had mined was on an orphan chain?

I assume I'm not getting that 1000CNC you owe me for helping you set the P2Pool server up?

Note: I had no idea of his intentions at the time, he just asked me to help him for 1000CNC.

hello. I am looking to start up my own p2pool. But I'm having issues, I can't find a good source code for the p2pool software. Would you mind helping me out? I can pay you 1000 CNC if you help me set it up ^_^

in b4 someone says Tough Tittiez

3957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ANN Yacoin seems to be released. Current diff 0.001 something. on: May 06, 2013, 11:19:10 PM
What are its default ports, what is its address-representation offset (or what number or letter appears as first number or letter of most addresses it creates), and what is the four-byte network connection handshake it uses?

3958  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ANN Yacoin seems to be released. Current diff 0.001 something. on: May 06, 2013, 11:10:49 PM
Don't bother, it is not real.

But just for practice so you'll be ready when the real one comes out,

qmake
make

Or if your QT is qt4,

qmake-qt4
make

I am assuming using the GUI builder would be anathema to a command-line chap like yourself of course.

3959  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feathercoin slowing up? on: May 06, 2013, 11:01:43 PM
Yea this shit is moving stupidly slow right now. Last time I will deal with FTC.

Try GRouPcoin, it has adaptive difficulty but has never actually been stress-tested live. Jump on it drive the difficulty way the heck up then abandon it so we can see its adaptive difficulty in action.

It uses the same adaptation as DeVCoin, so if it works for GRouPcoin presumably DeVCoin will also be fine.

It's not the real one guys..

Ah so we are merely re-enacting a Novacoin startup and thus seeing how grossly Novacoin was pre-loaded to implement instant pre-mine by the sound of it.

See how scammy Novacoin was/is? Smiley
