How Rand Paul trolls his rivals
Behind the Republican’s effort to be the first true Twitter candidate for the White House.

Quote
Rand Paul has the most aggressive Twitter feed of the 2016 field, an account that emits a steady stream of snark, rapid response and gimmicks. A recent sampling: He’s suggested Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton are conspiring, charged that Marco Rubio wants to “build a moat” around Cuba, and joked that Bush and Mitt Romney have exchanged friendship and charm bracelets.
Paul doesn’t write the tweets himself: Roughly a half-dozen staffers have access to the account, and they post without getting sign-off from the the senator, according to Doug Stafford, Paul’s senior political adviser. But he is deeply involved with his Twitter feed, driven by the sense that he wants to be a different kind of Republican candidate who reaches out to new constituencies — and he sees social media as key part of that engagement.

It’s all part of a broader strategy to run a tech-savvy, “crowd-sourced” presidential campaign, where online communication is the first messaging priority and edginess is essential to cut through the clutter.

Sen. Rand Paul R-KY., is seen leaving the Republican weekly policy luncheon at the Capital in Washington, Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015. Paul, claimed Monday that vaccines can cause 'profound mental disorders.' Paul, in an often contentious interview with CNBC, argued that parents should have a choice whether to vaccinate their children. 'I've heard of many tragic cases of walking talking normal children who wound up with profound mental disorders after vaccines,' Paul said.

Paul frequently fires off emails to his staff with concepts for tweets and social media pushes, and sometimes offers specifics.
“He and this organization will continue to be engaging, continue to be creative, continue to use digital almost as a first place of communication, because that’s the world we live in,” said Vincent Harris, the chief digital strategist of RANDPAC, Paul’s political arm. The senator “himself believes that content online needs to be unique, needs to be delivered not in long, paragraph form, but in pithy, visual memes and images and games. And if you look at the type of content the senator’s organization has been pushing out over the last two months, you see that’s reflected.”

While I enjoy some of the topics and titles that some have posted, I really think you can't go wrong when living in a relative free place to check out those documentaries that have been done on North Korea which you can easily find on youtube. While you're at it, I'd advise this movie depicting some sort of life out of the North: trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyYilOhGw40

North Korea strikes down US talks, vows 'final doom'
 Grin
Quote
North Korea on Wednesday ruled out resuming dialogue with the "gangster-like" United States, and vowed to respond to any US aggression with nuclear strikes and cyber warfare.

The bellicose statement from the country's top military body, the National Defence Commission (NDC), came after reported moves by Washington and Pyongyang to revive long-stalled six-nation talks on denuclearisation.

It also preceded the start in early March of annual joint US-South Korea military exercises that always presage a sharp spike in military tensions and rhetoric on the divided peninsula.

The NDC statement was an apparent reaction to remarks Barack Obama made regarding the eventual collapse of the regime in North Korea, which the US president called the "most cut-off nation on Earth".

The NDC statement, which labelled the Obama administration a mud-slinging "cesspool," said the president's comments amounted to a threat to engineer the country's downfall.

"Since the gangster-like US imperialists are blaring that they will 'bring down' the DPRK (North Korea)... the army and people of the DPRK cannot but officially notify the Obama administration... that the DPRK has neither need nor willingness to sit at negotiating table with the US any longer," the NDC said.

3965  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Both sides proven inaccurate about concealed carry on: February 05, 2015, 02:02:22 AM
There's so much ongoing drug violence on a large scale happening in Chicago on a regular basis that whatever likely benefit there was from concealed carry holders is eviscerated by the former. I don't know what the procedures are to get a cc permit but in a state like that it could be quite onerous and invasive. If you isolated the violence going on in Chicago and stripped those situations from the state as a whole, I bet you see some benefits overall. As you saw in the article, the police don't like citizens having the right to bear arms and will bend any encounter to ruin your day and take you in only to drop charges and let you go. That said, if you've been an officer all that time prior, then this new thing you have to get used to might be hard for ya especially if you have a negative view of the person you're encountering and don't feel that particular person should be carrying a firearm. Outside of numbers, it's a right to bear arms not a privilege. The drug war/inner city problem is what skews a normal society.

The judge had stacked the rules against him from the get-go so it was inevitable in my mind that he'd get convicted of something, if not the whole bag. If my back was against the wall like this and knew how things were going, I'd definitely take a chance and hop on the stand to defend myself. Can't do any worse at that point.

What do you mean by the judge stacking the deck against him? I only marginally followed the court case, it was obvious he was guilty so there was no need to follow it closely. Are you referring to the judge disallowing his "expert" witnesses, or was there other conduct?
Yeah, pretty much things like that. Normally, the judge curbs what the prosecution can bring to the table as some of it could be irrelevant to the particular charges against the defendant yet allows some leeway for the defense to make a better case for someone who's freedom is on the line, especially here when he's facing 20 yrs to life when he's sentenced on May 30th. I don't have a timeline of what was allowed or not but numerous times the judge blocked evidence and testimony that would've helped Ross' cause so undoubtedly there'll be an appeal filed because of how one-sided things were for the defense. Imagine how vulnerable one would feel seeing how the tables were being stacked against you turning this ultimately into a kangaroo court.

My interest level when I first heard about bitcoin again and again, when Shrem would buy ads on Free Talk Live years ago, was sickening and didn't want anything to do with it. It finally clicked a few years back and have been doing my own homework pretty much everyday since then. It's a way of life at this point, folks.
3968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN PUMP/DUMP GROUP 2015 on: February 05, 2015, 01:12:23 AM
The bitcoin market is too powerful to be moved at will. Pump dump grups only work with small alts.
Pretty much this. You'd need to mess with a low volume coin and know what you're doing on a certain platform. Problem is, you need to have a twitter feed or a certain following that will be fed the news during or after the pump and they would have to be the bagholders of the crap when you and your buddies/subscribers flee the scene. Not very ethical to say the least. Have patience if you believe in bitcoin and stop trying to prey on others. Earn your coins honestly and smartly while not building up bad karma and you'll do well as time goes by.

3970  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-02-04] New Hampshire Bill Backs Bitcoin for State Taxes on: February 04, 2015, 10:33:34 PM
It's members of the Free State Project that are moving there to NH and having an affect on legislators, if not getting elected themselves. I believe there are several FSP state reps elected as libertarian republicans and democrats that are part of the movement behind this bill. If nothing else, it'll spur researching of bitcoin by the committees responsible for passing this on to the larger assembly. It may not pass the first time around but giving the state another way to collect taxes, namely property taxes, is surely an incentive for them. It's not like there's a sales or income tax there thanks to the libertarian strain of the state.

Obama seeks to add to estate tax

Quote
The Obama budget calls for a stealth increase in the death tax rate from 40% to nearly 60%. Here's how it works:

Under current law, when you inherit an asset your basis in the asset is the higher of the fair market value at the time of death or the decedent's original basis. Almost always, the fair market value is higher.

Under the Obama proposal, when you inherit an asset your basis will simply be the decedent's original basis.

Example: Dad buys a house for $10,000.  He dies and leaves it to you. The fair market value on the date of death is $100,000. You sell it for $120,000. Under current law, you have a capital gain of $20,000 (sales price of $120,000 less step up in basis of $100,000). Under the Obama plan, you have a capital gain of $110,000 (sales price of $120,000 less original basis of $10,000).

There are exemptions for most households, but this misses the larger point: the whole reason we have step up in basis is because we have a death tax. If you are going to hold an estate liable for tax, you can't then hold the estate liable for tax again when the inheritor sells it. This adds yet another redundant layer of tax on savings and investment. It's a huge tax hike on family farms and small businesses.

It's like a second death tax (the first one has a top tax rate of 40% and a standard deduction of $5.3 million/$10.6 million for surviving spouses). Conceivably, an accumulated capital gain could face a 40% death tax levy and then a 28% capital gains tax on what is left. Do the math, and that's an integrated federal tax of just under 60% on inherited capital gains.

"The national death tax dates to World War I. Most states have abolished their state death tax. They know the death tax is simply yet another layer of taxation on the life savings of Americans," said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform. "Heck, Sweden abolished its death tax a decade ago. The world has learned from failure and moved on. Obama thinks he is being left-wing.  He is just showing his age."

Daily Beast Editor Apologizes For Tweeting 'F*** You' At Rand Paul
LOL Grin
Quote
Justin Miller, a senior editor at the Daily Beast, apologized on Tuesday for tweeting "fuck you" to Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).

"Today I am getting my booster vaccine," Paul tweeted Tuesday afternoon. "Wonder how the liberal media will misreport this."

"Fuck you," Miller shot back.

A spokesperson for Paul told Politico that the remark was "completely unacceptable for a journalist to be tweeting these type of comments."

Miller later apologized in an email to the site.

“I replied from my personal account to what I felt was spin after Senator Paul said factually incorrect things about vaccines," he said. "It would’ve been better to respond with facts than an obscenity, and I deleted the tweet so it wouldn’t reflect on the Beast. I’m sorry for the insult.”

Miller may have deleted the tweet, but he has a history of using that particular construction liberally on Twitter. In October, he retweeted a story about protestors in Ferguson, Mo. burning a flag, adding "fuck them."

Bill O'Reilly slams Rand Paul for 'naive' foreign policy, measles stance

Quote
Washington (CNN)Add Fox News host Bill O'Reilly to the list of those critical of Sen. Rand Paul.

O'Reilly joined the chorus of voices slamming the Republican from Kentucky on Tuesday for his comments that vaccines should not be mandatory and took the chance to take another swipe at the libertarian-leaning senator's foreign policy, calling him "perhaps the most controversial candidate in the race."

"That's not unusual for me disagreeing with Mr. Paul," O'Reilly said.

The conservative host also called Paul's stance on terrorism and Iran "naïve," reprising previous comments that Paul's foreign policy views would hurt him in an eventual GOP primary.

Paul opposes the GOP-led effort to impose additional sanctions on Iran in an attempt to pressure the Iranians to give up their nuclear program.

"Sen. Paul loses traction because he has no plan to defeat the jihad and he comes across, maybe he's not that way, it comes across as kind of let them do what they want to do as long as they're not in the U.S.A.," O'Reilly said Tuesday.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/04/politics/bill-oreilly-slams-rand-paul/

This guy has the most watched news show in the US and it's pretty much exclusively viewed by 'conservative' older folks. This host has hated the Pauls for many years as he's a very big war hawk and police stater that fools the viewers into supporting more statist positions as alleged conservative republicans.

Rand Paul being praised at Age of Autism...

Quote
Attention everyone.

Rand Paul believes in parental choice.

"The Hepatitis B vaccine is now given to newborns. We sometimes give 5 or 6 vaccines at one time. I chose to have mine delayed. I don't want the government telling me I have to give me child Hepatitis B vaccine which is transmitted by sexually transmitted disease and/or blood transfusion. . . . I had mine staggered over several months. I've heard of many cases of walking, talking normal children who wound up with profound mental disorders

after vaccines. ...I think they're a good thing, but I think the parents should have some input. The state doesn't own your children. The parents own the children and it is an issue of freedom."

This is one of their daily blog posts...http://www.ageofautism.com/

These folks seem like single issue voters mostly but the issue of parental choice is a crucial one these days since the left increasingly wants more say over the parents' leeway in deciding what's best for their kids. I can only imagine how problematic it is to raise a child that has issues of some sort.
3977  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price : still very pessimistic. on: February 04, 2015, 07:52:02 PM
I would say on one hand that the price is more annoying than pessimistic since it's been such a long downtrend. On the other hand, being able to purchase at these prices again is wonderful. Over the next couple of months, most people are going to be getting their tax returns back and those typically equal a paycheck or two or more for most people so that's like the one time of year where bonus money gets available to folks. I'm not predicting anything but I wouldn't be surprised to see some nice action coming up here in March or April and it could get the ball rolling on a strong rally, not just these occasional pump recoveries.
3978  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bold move because 300$ is at the corner on: February 04, 2015, 06:30:34 PM
I'd even grab some litecoin that will rise up with the next move in bitcoin.

litecoin will make people a ton of money again like the last move to $50, it needs a bitcoin bubble but should see people move into litecoin during the start of bubble quick this time.
Why do you believe this?
Typically when the Bitcoin bubble starts and is finally on the radar of the average person via the media hype, people want to somehow get a piece of the action in this crypto world. The price of the former tends to get out of range of most people in a short amount of time and before they've figured out how to obtain and hold crypto, they've seen the price just grow by hundreds of dollars or more over the course of this few days to a week until they're ready to and able to purchase. As they are reading and or talking to someone that knows a little something about crypto they inevitably find out about the cheaper option that seems to be moving also and that's where many newcomers test the waters to some extent. This is why you make more bitcoin on a litecoin bubble, typically. I don't get greedy but definitely have a single digit % exposure in litecoin when the timing is right.

For most younger and middle aged people, it's quite the big deal to just drop hundreds of dollars on one coin when you can spend the same amount of money and have a hundred or more of the next best thing. Most people aren't thinking in terms of buying %s of a coin, just a certain number of the complete thing. I ran into some of my bro's friends at his wedding last summer and it turns out some of them got goxed and the other had bought late in the litecoin rally and were holding $40 litecoins. And these guys were freshly graduated lawyers, not your average types.

The other reason is many current bitcoiners have past expectations of what comes during a bitcoin and subsequent litecoin rally.
3979  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bold move because 300$ is at the corner on: February 04, 2015, 04:13:23 AM
I don't think it'll go that low, like under $200 at this point. It doesn't matter where someone buys at this point unless you're a trader that freaks out at certain lower prices. Just buy, hold and get ready for the launch. I'd even grab some litecoin that will rise up with the next move in bitcoin.
3980  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much is a LOT of BTC? on: February 04, 2015, 04:05:50 AM
I would concur that 10 coins is plenty to retire on in ten years if you think that bitcoin will have succeeded in some way down the line, maybe even 5. I like to error on the side of having 25 or more, just in case.
