Quick question... Wouldn't this be a worthy investment if bitcoin goes up to 200 or more? I guess while investing it is best to look way far ahead. Maybe he might end up with 9000 dollars instead of 900!

Sure, he might end up with more dollars, but he can do better with less risk. Let me show you.

There are two ways you can obtain bitcoins. You can buy them or you can mine them. Let's compare the two, assuming that you mine for a year and the value of BTC goes up to $1000.

Method| $ Value Now| BTC Value Now| BTC Value Next Year| $ Value Next Year
Buy| 1750| 12.5| 12.5| 12500
Mine| 1750| nothing yet| 6.5| 6500

As you can see, if he mines he can make a big profit if BTC rises to $1000. But, if he spends the money on bitcoins instead of on mining bitcoins, he comes out way ahead. Also, there is no risk of Byteminr shutting down.

Right... Thanks for explaining this... Good thing I have not bought any mining shares... But what if I can find a ghash for cheap? Do you think it would be worth it?

Coinbase does not let you see your private keys, and only allows you to import the balance of the private key, so they do not support vanity addresses either... Sad if you really need complete access to your account, and need it to be online, use blockchain.info

wow, had no idea. That is disturbing.

To add on to this: Coinbase is like Google... For Google they give you free storage, but in return they go through all of your files... For coinbase they host a free wallet for you and pay your transaction fees for you and in return they keep everything... That is a really stupid analogy but I hope you get the point Smiley Personally I trust and like coinbase but use what suits you best!

Now I just need to earn some BTC haha Smiley

Welcome to the forums! You can get a little bit of money from faucets, and can bet it on primedice... The way I did it was that I bet the free 0.5 mbtc that I got on bit Vegas, and now I have almost a btc! Btw if you do try out bitvegas, play roulette!

Wow there was a surge of people coming to my faucet and I now have over 1250 successful payouts! 250 of these people have received 0.000025!!!
3967  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Faucet visitor amount on: October 16, 2013, 09:59:21 PM
Whats your payout, if you tote the highest paying?

My faucet is a coinbase only (for now, working on inputs.io)... It pays out 0.000025 instantly to your address. I know a few more that pay higher, but they do no payout until you reach x amount...

This is decent amount in free faucet world. What about payment every minute by solving captcha ?  Smiley

I can't afford to do that but right now you only have to wait 30 minutes!

I think that you and me have one the highest paying faucets Tongue

I plan on increasing mine to 0.00005 as soon as I get an advertiser! Anyways good luck with your (2) faucets! (I think you have two, saw your post saying that you created your second faucet)
Yes, I have two faucets. I think I will keep my payout like it is. I get a lot of PeerBet requests and I already had to use my own BTC to keep it running (I don't mind, but you get my point. Even my 1 sold ad isn't enough to support it Tongue).

Good luck to you too dude!

now running faucet is not profitable idea its just for enjoyment and for spreading bitcoins is ok
I never said it should be profitable / I want to be profitable. It would just be nice if I could pay from my faucets by using my ad revenue. Like I said before, I do not mind putting my own money into it.

I have not really put much money into my faucet. Stunna has given me a very generous donation which will last me a while!
Ah, good to hear. Cheesy Well good luck anyway.

Thanks! Good luck to to you to!

It must be from a ddos attack... Why do people ddos attack sites, because I know for sure that they don't get money from it...

Could be someone from the competition.

The thing is that when primedice was down, i really didnt bet anywhere else, so it really doesnt help!

3976  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's the easiest way to buy bitcoins with USD (with an American bank account? on: October 16, 2013, 02:27:18 PM
When using coinbase to buy btc, you might be rejected once or twice... Just try to buy again, and once you do successfully wait 30 days. After 30 days, you can buy and sell btc instantly instead of waiting 5 days...
3977  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Followup to my intro post: a link to my survey! on: October 16, 2013, 02:25:00 PM
Could you link me to the original post? I don't understand why you want us to take a survey and what you need it for...

Yes, sorry about that.  Here's the original post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=308727.msg3311237#msg3311237

The short version is that I'm a graduate student doing a research project on the bitcoin community.  I've developed this survey as a part of this research project in order to better understand the motivations and values of bitcoin users.

Yes well I can't really take the survey since I am only 14 but if you want I can take it anyways...

Been using my mining rig of USB Asicminer Block erupters for some time now (scoff... i know)

Bought some bitcoins when they dropped bigtime after the whole DPR bust, so im making good headway thus far; looking to meet some great minds here!

Welcome! How much have you made? Did you reach roi?

Because USB Block erupters are bought with BTC, you can never reach roi (mine so much BTC as you used to buy these)

But USB Block erupters have entertaiment value as well, so not easy to judge  Wink

I am a mining noob but the difficulty was much less 3 months ago then now... He could have reached roi. I'm sure I am wrong though since I know almost nothing about mining...
3979  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Faucet visitor amount on: October 16, 2013, 02:19:31 PM
I wish I got more visitors Sad Now I have made my faucet the highest paying faucet that delivers the money instantly to your wallet, so this should attract a lot more people.
