3961  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why we need Bitcoins for international transactions on: August 16, 2012, 11:11:18 AM
HSBC officially stated that they do not want to see anything related close or far to bitcoin, and kicked out. We asked if it'd be possible to get back in and got politely told that it wouldn't happen anytime soon.

Are Bitcoins illegal in at least one of the countries you sent/received payments from on your HSBC account?
If not, is such discrimination on the part of HSBC legal? I'd sue them if something like this happened to me.

I propose we start a new thread but with at least 50 BTC.

Launder your money for close to nothing. Smiley

Google Translate doesn't produce spelling errors (it does produce weird ways of expressing things, however). Posts like these indicate not foreignness to the English language, but rather incapability to properly convey English with proper orthography.

Not knowing a language proficiently does not translate to not knowing it at all. Only people who barely know a language will use Google Translate to communicate in it (unless they are oblivious to errors it is prone to make).

I think the posts' quotes you posted actually do indicate foreignness to the English language Smiley

At least two users here look like non-native English speakers to me:

Huesos - that's a Spanish sounding nickname, 'huesos' means 'bones'
and
tomaszsz - 'Tomasz' is a Polish equivalent of 'Thomas'

(and, to be honest, the frequency of speeling erors on this forum do indicate a younger population).

I wouldn't say so. English language is the mother tongue of maybe half of Bitcoin users.

3970  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Using mining gear for other financial purposes? on: August 05, 2012, 07:51:55 PM
I think I saw a thread somewhere on the forum that came up with solutions on where to utilize the computing power most people may have here. However not on the Bitcoin network, but for renting it out to other companies or agents that would be able to sell the computing power.

I am just thinking as a plan B if everything fails in regards to mining on the Bitcoin network.

Anyone has any suggestions for where someone can utilize high performance computing?

You can look around russian hacking/cracking forums and see if anyone is in need of cracking hashed passwords.

Which gpu driver version did you use?
As far as I remember 12.1 and possibly newer versions too gave BSODs upon connecting more than 4 GPUs.

Months? I did not know that and did open a few PSUs. Am I lucky to be alive?  Grin

How do you properly discharge them then?

Thanks to all of you that came and sorry I couldn't spend more time with everyone.  I know a few of you were there and didn't get a chance to meet you.

Here is everyone that showed up.
We will do it again!!!

Are you the 3rd one from the right?

3975  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: LargeCoin Pricing Announced; Taking Pre-Orders on: July 28, 2012, 03:38:29 PM
Has anyone else gotten the most recent Largecoin announcement, the survey I mean?  It seems that BFL has partially succeeded in scaring its competitors.

Yeah. All BFL's competitors must be pissed off, unsure whether they should continue developing their own stuff or leave the ship before it sinks.

I think there is some more proof BCX is Dan/Danny/Daniel Maddox/Lanie Grace/Kaley Wu/[etc]

http://pastebin.com/HsC08JuL
http://pastebin.com/pfrmtZ0b

And look how he/she signs posts:
http://weareatomik.com/2009/08/04/sarah-connor-will-be-back-probably-as-a-warm-up-to-terminator-5/#comments

~Lanie Grace~ (same as ~BCX~)

But he even admits posing as Lanie Grace:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=70069.msg811906#msg811906

Googling for a while these names will lead to same locations (Oakland, Mountainview (SF Bay Area))

Them and CH/RS didn't like one another much so browsing through forums will show some doxing they did on themselves, not sure to what extent all the info is true so I'll just post a few links:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=47135.msg561335#msg561335 (look at the end of the URL CH posted)

If this is true:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=63365.msg793930#msg793930

Then it could explain why BCX is using Lanie Grace alias (impersonating to give her a bad name)

Scroll down to the 'about me' section.

"Hello my name is Dan [...]" and he mentions Lanie.

3977  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Public STATEMENT Regarding Bitcoinica account hack at MtGox on: July 27, 2012, 09:20:06 PM
is anyone committing these all of these threads to pastebin or elsewhere ?  As posts seem to be removed from time to time this will all be relevant when these cases go to court.

Maybe the forum administration will be able to find deleted posts if they are not deleted from the database, or if they are, by restoring its backup (I heard the forum's backup is done pretty often).
3978  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Public STATEMENT Regarding Bitcoinica account hack at MtGox on: July 27, 2012, 12:22:38 PM
How can you even obtain a credit card if you're < 18??

In some countries it is possible, with a guardian's consent of course.
3979  Other / Archival / Re: deleted on: July 24, 2012, 09:04:23 PM
Why would he be in legal trouble for a 51% attack? Luke had some fun and was not sent to a compulsory rectum treatment facility IIRC.

Unless he DDoSes a pool (remember LOIC script-kiddie users who got arrested) I don't see a reason to take such serious measures.
3980  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Possible scam at MtGox: Withdrawals are not processed on: July 24, 2012, 03:31:35 PM
This could be done for many reasons, and each time such verification is triggered by the Bank who requires it. I cannot go into specifics but we had at several occasions (a very few occasions) Banks that REFUSED to proceed a withdraw even if the client was Verified and was withdrawing the money to his/her account. Each time without a clue on the reasons.

Sue the bank?
