Could you try 'sudo pip install ecdsa'?
Thank you, that did it.

I'm still pissed off that Electrum can't tell me BEFORE I attempt to enter my extremely complex password (multiple times if I typo) that my TX won't broadcast without a fee.
This is because the final size (and thus, priority) of the transaction is only known after signing. You could estimate the priority before signing but you have to keep in mind that the signature takes some space and makes the transaction bigger, so you could later find that a fee is actually required when you previously thought it wasn't. Of course, if the priority of a transaction before signing is like 1000M then this probably won't be an issue for that specific transaction. Edit: I could swear I haven't posted three times in a row in this thread (or elsewhere for that matter). Have some posts been removed?

You could try to calculate the priority of the transactions, just for fun .

Outright refuses to send to network fee-free under <1 BTC/>0.01 BTC after sufficient aging, AFAICT.
But that's a different issue IMO. You initially said that you "can't seem to get fucking any inputs less than 1 BTC (and more than 0.01) to be sent for free for WEEKS" (sic) so I assumed that those transactions actually hit the network and they just aren't being confirmed. However now you're saying that electrum refuses to broadcast that transaction, so the weeks bit doesn't apply. Am I mistaken somewhere?

And then you will buy or sell?
I'll laugh. Laugh out loud.

So in the future as more and more BTC are being used and block rewards have been reduced will the payback from mining be more from the TX fess than the block reward? If millions (billions?) of dollars are moving everyday each block could be worth a lot.
Yes, that's exactly how it was planned from the beginning. Isn't satoshi a genius?

got my funds back definitely not a scam, please close this thread If I were you I'd definitely change the topic of this thread to remove the "SCAM". People jump to conclusions way too quick these days…

I thought this would be a FAQ but my searches turn out empty. $ python NoBrainr.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "NoBrainr.py", line 2, in <module> import ecdsa, binascii, hashlib ImportError: No module named ecdsa I tried to stick a couple of lines to the beginning of the script to reuse electrum's version of ecdsa: import sys sys.path.append ('/home/electrum/Electrum-1.7.4/ecdsa') To no avail: $ python NoBrainr.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "NoBrainr.py", line 9, in <module> secp256k1=ecdsa.curves.Curve('secp256k1',secp256k1curve,secp256k1point,(1,3,132,0,10)) AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'curves' I see a couple of python-ecdsa modules in github. Is one of them the correct one? Isn't there a central repository of python modules a la Perl's CPAN?

Consider that Silk Road is like a hydra - cut off one head and ten will spring up to replace it. The human spirit is indomitable in the long run.
But this is no problem. Silk Road was different because at one point it was the only place where you could spend your coins (well, you could also get some alpaca socks too). Now tens or hundreds of clones may come to replace it, but bitcoin has grown too and there's plenty of places to spend your money. None of these new black markets will ever be the only place where you can buy something with bitcoin. So it doesn't matter that SR is replaced. The press won't make a fuss about it.

In my experience with Electrum, I can't seem to get fucking any inputs less than 1 BTC (and more than 0.01) to be sent for free for WEEKS, at which point I just give up and send with fee or send from multiple addresses with more than 1 BTC back to the same address.
Well the network seems to be accepting those transactions fine, e.g. this one of 0.58 BTC total inputs.

He can plead the 5th, to avoid self-incrimination easily.
Or give a passphrase/privkey that unlocks only a chunk of the profits big enough for him to be able to plausibly claim that it's the whole stash.

Is it possible for anyone to get one? If so, how can I get mine?
Yeah it's rather easy in fact. All you have to do is be a dick so everyone ignores you. When that happens, your ignore button will be highlighed. No kidding!

but we are still under the trend line.
SR news not only caused the short-term crash. This news reversed the trend.
It didn't necessarily reverse the trend. We could now be in a bullish trend with a softer slope or in a sideways market.
