3981  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will spending Bitcoin actually be bad for the price? on: May 18, 2019, 09:05:11 PM
I thought of this a couple days ago. I saw the news that now you can spend Bitcoin at various big retail stores using the Spedn app, which I guess basically just uses a conversion service to let you use Bitcoin and exchange it for dollars and sends the dollars to the retailer. I started thinking that this is likely the standard model that will be followed at most retailers to spend Bitcoin.

Very few retailers can be expected to directly take Bitcoin, because it is volatile and they want exactly the amount of money they charge. They're not in the investment business, they're in the retail business, so when they sell something they don't want the amount of money the receive to go up and down. So given that, any time someone spends bitcoin that goes through such a conversion service, that means it is being sold for fiat (or probably eventually a state issued fiat stable cryptocurrency) on an exchange somewhere. If it becomes normal to spend bitcoin wouldn't that create huge downward pressure on the price?

Could the dream of using bitcoin to pay for things around the world actually be, paradoxically, detrimental to its price, and therefore bad for its adoption?

This makes me think that maybe store of value will be the major use case of bitcoin, rather than both store of value and means of payment. What do you think? Is the scenario I describe where spending makes bitcoin's price go down wrong in some way?

If people are able to spend bitcoins for buying products then this is a great step towards mass adoption.
Personally, I don't find a good idea to spend my bitcoins for purchasing stuff. I keep hodling them and wait for a bigger adoption to come in the next years. Not to mention that I consider it as a way to store value.
3982  Other / Politics & Society / Re: WHY CHOOSE RELIGION OVER HUMANITY on: May 18, 2019, 07:52:13 PM
Many extremists taking the life of people all in the name of religion, why?

They try to show that this is the good for their religion and make more people to join their killing attempts.
It is their strategy to enlist more people in their killing army. Simple as that.
3983  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it a value reserve? on: May 18, 2019, 07:27:14 PM
Because could bitcoin represents a value reserve or acts as a "digital gold", really could it change the world in a deterministic sense?

Bitcoin is more than a way to store value.
Right now it is so because there are not any real use cases for it in our real gold, thus people hodl bitcoin and wait for it to become mainstream. Its feature may change in the future as the usage of it changes through time.
3984  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Reddit’s science forum banned climate deniers. on: May 18, 2019, 06:38:47 PM
I was very happy with reddit, but there is a lot of censorship in the groups.
Science group was one of my favorite but I don't follow it any more as it has changed a lot and much censorship has taken place during the last years.
3985  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Report From Venezuela: An Inside Look At A Country In Free Fall on: May 18, 2019, 06:35:43 PM
It seems like Petro was another way for Maduro's people to get more money and enrich corruption.
They used the blockchain technology wrongly and they disrespect the cryptocurrency industry. The sad thing is that people in Venezuela trusted this system but they ended up losing more money.
3986  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 18, 2019, 06:31:06 PM
My SerieA  w-end ticket:

Udinese Calcio - Spal 2013
Udinese Calcio @1.63

Udinese have taken the lead already against Spal 2013 within the first 5 minutes of the match, It's a much needed win for Udinese as they're fighting to avoid getting relegated. A win today will be a very important step towards that.

They saved their place I think for next season Serie A league.
By winning this game a huge game to avoid relegation has been done and it is very good for Italian football because Udineze is a historical team with many supporters and it is important to have teams like this in the first division.
3987  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2016/17 on: May 18, 2019, 06:08:13 PM
After last round we know all participants of UEFA competitions. Barcelona, Atletico, Real and Valencia will play in Champions league. Getafe, Sevilla and Espanyol will play in Europa league.
Valencia jumped into Champions league train in last round by beating Valladolid 2:0. Getafe weren't able to beat Villarreal and it cost them place in Champions league. Sad for them, but even spot in Europa league is big achievement for this team.

Well it’s end of La Liga too and I’m glad to see Valencia has managed to qualify for Champions League next season. I remember asking this question here whether Valencia would qualify or not, and many here supported Getafe but sadly Getafe lost both their games and failed to make the cut. I’ll miss seeing Grizeman in Atletico Madrid colours, he’s one player Atletico will regret loosing.

It is satisfied that Valencia is qualified and not Getafe.
This is the best for the European football and for Champions league competition as well, because Valencia is more competitive than Getafe so we are going to see better matches.
3988  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: May 18, 2019, 06:05:13 PM
Congratulations to the Bayern Munich who have remained the German league champions for a number of times. Because in this last match Bayer and Dortmund both won the match. that means Bayer Munchen remains ranked first and became the German league champion for this year.

I am sad that Borussia didn't manage to get the title this season.
Bayern didn't face any difficulty in winning Eintracht Frankurt, I didn't think that it would be an easy game for them but they made it easy.
Congrats to Bayern for winning another title.
3989  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: May 18, 2019, 06:01:15 PM
Manchester won easily the FA Cup with a 6-0.
They finished successfully this season as they did a double ground as they won both the Cup and the championship.

Watford made a decent performance in the competition but they weren't in position to challenge the title today.
3990  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: how to report bitcoin earnings on: May 18, 2019, 07:48:34 AM
I'd like to hear from people who have been paid in bitcoin and how they reported it on their taxes.
Before we go any further, please don't waste bandwidth by *advising* me not to report my income.

The situation:

Doing remote work for an overseas client.  This client pays me in bitcoin.  I don't get a 1099 from this person.

As I understand, my income is the amount the bitcoin was worth when the client sent it -- regardless of whether I sell the bitcoin immediately or hold it (hodl).
This will be reported  as self-employment income (since I don't have a corporation) on Schedule C.
If I hold the coins and sell them later, there may be capital gain or loss to be reported separately on Schedule D.

Is there something I'm missing?

You should state your country as well in your post.
Taxation laws are different in each and every country so taking advise from people in here will not help at all. In my opinion, I would suggest you to pay a visit to your accountant and ask him on how this income should be reported.
3991  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-17]Massive Sell-Off Triggers Bitcoin Price Drop to $7,000 Level on: May 18, 2019, 07:39:36 AM
The volatile nature of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies sees them fluctuate according to market conditions. In this very week, the world’s leading cryptoasset traded above $8,320, but to our surprise, the digital asset is now falling to hit the $7,000 level.

A week ago, BTC traded at a price low of about $6,282. But throughout the week, the crypto was having a non-uniform trajectory – its movement has been up and down (unstable).

https://coinidol.com/massive-sell-off/

It is more that normal for bitcoin to have those fluctuations in the price.
If something (in this case a cryptoasset) goes upward and has such an increase in a small period of time, it is very physical to have the same trend but on the other way. We are still in a better situation than a week ago though.
3992  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: What can I do to make it more transparent? on: May 18, 2019, 07:33:29 AM
Hello everyone, everything good?

Some people should already know that I am scheduling a smart contract that generates profit for all its members.
The contract will be an autonomous investment fund, the management will be done by the own quotaholders.

What can I do so the contract is not charged fraud, pyramid, scan?
because many people do not even understand some projects and they already defame them, as it does with BitCoin.

I intend to leave open source in etherscan along with a reading manual for non programmers.
In addition to making room for javascript programmers. They will be able to create their own investment platform.

In addition to leaving a field so only members can post their experience directly in blockChain.

I would like your opinion. What can I do to make it more transparent?

Thank you!!!

If you don't want to be characterized as scam or pyramid, fraud you have to be fully transparent to your community.
By giving information to the public about how your profits are generated or what you do with the investors' money will make people trust you. Otherwise, you will be defined as another scam in the ecosystem.
3993  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Message to all Brits who voted for sovergnity, you are damn idiots on: May 18, 2019, 07:17:18 AM
you will lose more sovergnity and democracy then ever before althoug you voted to leave for sovereignity and for democracy

the more you are dropping our the more you will realise what a worthless junk democracy is if your currency is worth nothing,

you are so damn overdue to get that.

have fun learning

In another post you were against of the European Union. You didn't want the Mediterranean countries in the union and if I am not mistaken I think you were advising them to leave.
Now what is the point of making such comment about the British people? It is their right to vote for whatever they want. Money doesn't matter in many things.

brits voted for nothing it was another one of those pointless 50+-1% election of angolo saxian democracies, completley empty, and enforced democracy, many dont want to be even part of.

now farage is asking private health care to take care of british welfare system, they will soon live like a banana republic being ruled by a regional banking cartel and the scam politicians in its centre.

50+% election results are in all democracies around the world not only around the anglo-saxon countries. I can't see your point. Is there any alternative to democracy that you have to propose?
Every system is the same in our capitalist world. Great Britain will be ruled exactly as the EU does, but they are going to take decision by their own.
3994  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Happy accidents on: May 18, 2019, 07:09:13 AM
What are your gambling accidents that ended up did good to you instead of bad, mine was setting up a reverse martingale instead of the normal martingale with starting bet of 50k satoshi, it ended me winning 0.0035, i immediately ended it when i realize what was happenin

It was one of the first times that I started gambling, and I was addicted to Dice game.
I was playing over 4 but due to a mistake I bet for Under 4. Hopefully I was lucky enough to win this bet, but all the time that the dice was rolling I was about to have a heart attack.
3995  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: May 18, 2019, 07:05:26 AM
And the petition should not work. It would become more useless.
It's still a good show, let it end in some honor, let Tyrion kill Denarys and make John the rightful ruler the king. John would be the acceptable king for all of the 7 kingdoms and the north (the real north).

Denaerys is going to be dead for sure. And maybe Jon is going to be the King of the Seven Kingdoms.
If this scenario will come true, then I would be very disappointed about the Game of Thrones series, because it will be a so expected end and after 9 years I expected something more interesting.
3996  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: May 18, 2019, 06:45:16 AM
Milwaukee are currently roling here on game two, they've started the game way better than they did in game one, and have led by as much as 18 points during the first quarter, but the quarter ended 35-21 in favor of the Bucks!

64-39 half time score, in favor of the bucks, it should be an easy win for the Bucks.
They will win this as they don't give up a lead unlike the Raptors, Bucks bench are scoring really well in this game.

Right, the final score 103-125.

They throw everything in the first quarter and it was enough to hold off the Raptors. Toronto though was able to cut the lead in the third, but wasn't enough as the Bucks tighten their defense.

Ersan Ilyasova came off the bench to add 17 points, Giannis added 30 points to go with 17 rebounds.

The Greek Freak made another amazing performance tonight. I hope he will endure this beast mode and go all the way to the finals and win the ring because he truly deserves it this season.
Ilyasova wasn't the player that was helping a lot during the season but he has to help the Bucks now that they are in the end. He has the skill to do it and I hope he will continue performing in the next games.
3997  Economy / Economics / Re: Who controls the market? on: May 17, 2019, 06:51:41 PM
Basically, the Cryptocurrency market is not controlled by any organized structure rather by investors.
The altitude of investors tend to affect the market positively or negatively as the case maybe.
That's why a positive attitude should be maintained by all in cryptosphere.

It is not controlled meaning that it is transparent and cannot be corrupted.
But, in an ecosystem where everything is free and not regulated there can be big actors that can control the market by their actions both short term or long term.
3998  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Triggers Gambling Addiction on: May 17, 2019, 06:45:49 PM
] I think most if gamblers wants to earn easy money especially a jackpot, so they always trying to gamble. After that they no longer notice  that they were have already a gambling addiction. The money is always a reason, the why most people are addicted in gambling.
The money is the reason they entered the casino but the greed is what keeps them going and not stopping. Whole groups of addicts are just fed on by their inner hunger of greediness.

They are often those who are willing to defy logic because technically its not possible to beat the house edge if you are continuing to play without stopping after a green streak. But who cares about these logics when drug affected retarded brains start playing a shiny game of slots?

Greed is a fact, but not the most important one.
I think that people believe that they are not rich and due to that fact they try to make more money. The easiest way to do so is by gambling because they don't need so much efforts as it is more relevant to luck.
3999  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2018-2019 on: May 17, 2019, 05:22:12 PM
Last match on this season and with the trophy or win nothing for Liverpool because runner up position in the different tournaments but during play on champion league competition Liverpool have more experience than Tottenham
Liverpool, represented by Jürgen Klopp, truly deserves to win a CL trophy this season. Tottenham also shows its best in CL this season and has a good chances for an amazing finish. Personally, I will root for Liverpool in final match but I won't be too disappointed in case of Tottenham win.

They really deserve it to win it because Klopp has created an outstanding team.
However, Liverpool is Looserpool in the last seasons so it is very normal to play fantastic in the final but not win the trophy in the end. I expect at least to see an interesting match with many goals scored.
4000  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 17, 2019, 04:55:15 PM
Roma is going to play concentrated tomorrow against Sassuolo and they will try to win it because if they do so they will have a chance of getting a better placement if AC Milan losses points.
The champion is already introduced but there is interest in lower positions of the league table.
