3981  Other / Meta / Re: BITCOIN.ORG: Is being turned into nothing more than an Bitcoin pumping site... on: July 01, 2020, 10:36:41 PM
BTW BTC could crash  by 2028. I have mentioned this more then once. I see long term issues with it.

But my posts have far more variance then just that one fear.

We'll likely see another 80% crash next year and I don't think it's unlikely bitcoin will see a huge crash. I thought it was overvalued at $300 and I can imagine it'll get replaced or diluted out - I have faith in blockchain though and open source blockchains will hopefully be here to stay)...

Regardless, you can't just keep writing the same stuff over and over of similar ilk without adding anything additional as that's essentially the definition of low quality spam. @hf I think you should try to analyse what you're getting from this forum and from writing these posts I think you may want to consider moving off if you're not going to add new ideas to threads and actively participate in discussion...
3982  Economy / Economics / Re: How Derivatives Work in Crytocurrency. on: July 01, 2020, 10:22:20 PM

I've seen there are margin options up to 4x on binance too (so you can lend 4x more than your balance and releverage from there).

But you can get even up to 150x on BTCUSDT pair.

---

Derivates are just some coin/token/security which price is reliant on the price of other asses or more of them. It will be like new Facebooks (stable)coin Libra which price will be deducted from some fiat currencies.

Yeah I forgot to include the futures part that is up to 125x on binance (it's a bit different from margin though as margin is like an active loan against collateral rather than a futures contract - for example you can't short in binance margin like you can in binance futures afaik).
3983  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining profitability on: July 01, 2020, 06:17:23 PM
People pay a transaction fee on every transaction they send, miners would just rely more on this fee.

As mentioned the block reward will keep halving until it's below 0.01 btc (not sure of the exact number) but current cumulative transaction fees are 0.13BTC so the current average miners are paid would be 6.38 instead of the 6.25... .

3984  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to know whether the url your visiting is correct? on: July 01, 2020, 03:35:22 PM
To me, the best way to see if you're on the right site is just by typing out the link or the Web domain and navigating through or pasting the extension after it...
This is the best way actually. If you knew the exact keywords either paste it on browser so it will directed to that particular site.

Just avoid some sites which have some ads-related cause it can direct some of these to another page where phishing are probably waiting. But I commend you for your suggestion OP, some of other users are often got wrong links on the site their supposed to visit this could help for the likes of them.

Sometimes your clip board might play games with you. You can never be certain if you have a malware already on you device. It is easy to get malware nowdays as scammers/spammers are continuously improving themselve.

These simple and yet resourceful plugin can help you when you need them most. Thanks for sharing.

I meant if I were needing an important link I'd type in the domain and then add the extension on.

For example, if someone gave me a referral link to coinbase, I'd type coinbase.com/ and then copy and paste their extension? I don't think I can come under an attack from this (especially if you look at what you type too) that any plug in script could prevent...

Do some of thsrs sites load up links on pages?

I noticed the second for example looks like it's for devs so it might want a certain level of trust.

3986  Economy / Economics / Re: Mystery of $2bn of loans backed by fake gold in China on: July 01, 2020, 03:53:10 AM
This article was very long, I skimmed through it but it might be helpful to cut it down (especially for non English natives)..

It seems a weird case if representatives from both companies were present during the delivery and testing of the collateral when it was needed. It might point to someone on the inside of the vaulting company or the transporters finding a way to hide the gold and switch it put in the sealed vehicle but that seems impossible (unless potentially with one or two layers of gold if it was stacked or something).

I'm guessing this'll take a long time to solve too unless they work out if someone did open the vault (perhaps stored cctv from when it was assumed a false positive occurred - false positives have stopped police responding to a second break in in the past in the UK so....)

Great! Thanks for coming back to tell us what you did to fix it, hopefully it can help others in a similar position if they come across this thread!
3988  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EU air safety agency suspends PIA to operate in Europe for 6 month on: July 01, 2020, 12:52:11 AM
If this is covid related you might be better off moving it to economics. I can see that they could do this in order to get the eruppean space agencies more flights to be able to keep running (just my speculation on it - the EU member states have given fairly large bailouts to airlines at least the UK have)...
3989  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it a problem if the population decreases while monetary inflation remains... on: June 30, 2020, 09:07:04 PM

Those that aren't really working or producing sufficient good/quality basic things shouldn't be given too much money. I probably would give them special kind of "money" they can only use for the basic things that are produced by the quality hardworkers. The hardworkers automatically receive the "regular money" once given the "special money" by the non-productive customers. However, for dignity sake, it should  be possible for the non-productive ones to use the special money without people knowing for a limited amount of time...maybe 2-3yrs?

Would you pay people based on the number of hours they work or would you times it by the skill and quality? As this is something I'm tackling with the idea of in a more socialised economy.
Doctors and people of high intellect could be worth more than normals but they also couldn't (maybe a normal with enough money at the time could've got into med school)... I think people could earn a premium but it may need to be more balanced...

Specialised to the new economy that needs to be produced you could also pay an extra rate to people that manufacture products for export - which could help boost your economy back to life again...

It's possible for a country to be without certain resources due to mismanagement and other problems at the start of something like this too imo...
3990  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I sign a message from bech32 address on iPhone on: June 30, 2020, 06:00:45 PM
I don't think mycelium is greatly secure for ios...
OP is looking for signing a message using bech32 address from ios. I think that must not be something to be concerned for such security unless they hold a big fund in that certain address OP want to import private key.

You could steal their identity using it though and that's clearly something they're trying to do here... Either for staking an address or confirming an identity on another site...

I dont have an iPhone because I can't afford it Cheesy
Just get an older version :-P
People think apple is too luxury :-D

I don't think they're luxury, I think they're owned by novices of technology and people whow want less control over customisation and personalisation... But if you need it for compatibility reasons then that's acceptible (I have an apple product just in case I have to run anything that won't run on android, Windows or Linux)...
3991  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I sign a message from bech32 address on iPhone on: June 30, 2020, 04:19:55 PM
Blockchain.com doesn't bech32 addresses if I'm correct and to my known blockchain.com is the only option to sign message from a phone. Mycellium may have the option too. You can check with Mycellium.

I don't think mycelium is greatly secure for ios... It only looks to have seen a few updates so far and was apparently very buggy before then so I doubt they've ironed them all out (unless they've found a way to translate the android version which is unlikely).
3992  Economy / Services / Re: JUST COPY TRADES OF OTHERS AND MAKE MONEY ON FOREX on: June 30, 2020, 04:16:32 PM
Training? What exactly are you doing here so you have a simple strategy someone could use to do this, also when you copy someone there's a chance you'll eventually lose in the long run...
3993  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I sign a message from bech32 address on iPhone on: June 30, 2020, 02:23:36 PM
I don't think there's a secure way to do it on smart phones as there isn't an app that signs messages afaik.

3994  Economy / Economics / Re: How Derivatives Work in Crytocurrency. on: June 30, 2020, 02:01:46 PM

I expect to see these derivative innovation in the coming years...

I think a few companies like binance have only just started in the derivatives space so they may have quite a long way to go.

Bitmex is a bit more traditional so probably y won't see much of an improvement...

I'm assuming this means double spends are now easier to pull off when you (mainly I) make a mistake

double spends is not about your ability of editing the transaction and how easy it is, but instead it is about whether or not other nodes are going to accept the double spent transaction. in accepting part, nothing has changed. nodes will still reject double spend transactions.
the replace by fee transactions (which could technically be categorized as a double spend) could become easier though.

There have been reports in the past of people being scammed with a clipboard jacker and noticing only once the funds have been sent. If rbf is enabled (which most of the time it is), the problem is much easier to resolve if its possible to edit a preexisting transaction.

(I'll try it in about 24 hours if no one has and report back as to whether it works or not)...

My previous solution to this problem was having a secondary device which hasn't seen the new transaction and gets taken offline before the wallet is opened and then resigns a transaction with a higher fee...

Edit nc bea tme to it, that's disapointing I thought it'd let you edit inputs and outputs... Cry
3996  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Plagiarism in newbies on: June 30, 2020, 02:26:28 AM
I don't think the plagiarisers are actually new to the forum so this will probably go over many people's heads....

The only way for the forum to quash plagiarism is through bans imo as I don't think it's something users are doing as soon as they trice (if not told by someone else to) - that being said I can't speak for the alt boards people could probably get away with stuff there because it's so active with posters so may be where they try.
3997  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: June 29, 2020, 11:55:35 PM
Has everyone experienced a routing problem on here (when sending funds to toher peopel with only one or two channels open).

I have a channel open on my phone nad electrum and I think there's a connectivity issue betwen the two (I'll open up a channel to be with the same node to see if that's what's causing the problem but I'm not sure if it's a comonly experienced issue). I've been able to send from both to other sites...

(to clarify with electrum I did the copying of the invoice, right clicking and hitting "pay" I'm only partially stupid Grin)
3998  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [Beta] Electrum 4.0 is available for testing on: June 29, 2020, 09:34:37 PM
Did anything change on the back end? 4.0 will not connect to my electrum server.
Before I go on a hunt to figure out what is wrong I'll ask because I did not RTFM.
Connecting to other nodes works fine.

I can't find anything on the release notes.

Ooooooo also android finally gets password generation/encryption in the wallet from what I can tell (but I don't want to have to reconfigure my phone again after installing the wrong apk last time)...

2) you can now edit your transaction in the preview window

That's nice but scary also, it's my hope that I can do stuff through the preview window so it can't be edited.

I'm assuming this means double spends are now easier to pull off when you (mainly I) make a mistake
3999  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it a problem if the population decreases while monetary inflation remains... on: June 29, 2020, 05:02:53 PM
I'm using monetary inflation (based from monetary policy) and effective inflation (the price increase of certain "essential items" taken as an average increase in price.

Typically speaking is a population fall for a country or a certain area that uses the same currency a problem as the cost of standard items will increase and the value of the currency will fall because everyone might have more of it (other than a few that may still have nothing) potentially due to inheritance and a few other things.

Has something like this ever happened on a long term or do a government normally incentivise reproduction/immigration if something like this were to happen (causes of this could be anywhere from a nuclear explosion to chemical tests/contamination to a change in socioeconomic attitudes). I'm just wondering if this is a massive problem if this isn't corrected by a government.

If a country has lot of resources and their population decreases then they will be called as Arab Countries.  Grin

Pick up the history book and know what happened there, and you may get little more clarification about your doubts. This is the country where population was very less initially and they ended up digging the most essential stuff required by whole country, OIL!

With the time demand was so heavy (and still growing) they became richest country in the world. What to say about the kings and prince out there they have actaully controlled the taxes and prices of items in Dubai very smoothly and has given best possible life to their people.

The country became more cheaper for the locals since they had resources to sell outside their country.

Is this persia/Iran or somewhere else? I can't think what Arab nation you're talking about (and Arab is just a race afaik)?
4000  Economy / Economics / Re: How Derivatives Work in Crytocurrency. on: June 29, 2020, 02:35:58 PM
First I noticed were leveraged exchanges like bitmex and bybit which offer up to 100x leverage.

I've seen there are margin options up to 4x on binance too (so you can lend 4x more than your balance and releverage from there).

Bitmex and binance both offer btcup and btcdown contracts which apparently releverage as they go so they don't liquidate (I'm not entirely sure how they work so you might want to take a look at them yourself).

Beyond that there are standard exchanges in the forex and stocks realm offering more traditional versions for btc too...
