41  Economy / Speculation / Re: Worth investing as a student? on: July 22, 2017, 11:49:45 PM
Hey there. New to the BitcoinTalk forums, happy to be here Smiley

I'm a student in the UK. I get a few hundred in cash (£250ish) for christmas + birthday money every year and was thinking about investing in Bitcoin. Would you say it is worth investing as a student, especially now with the market rising around BIP91? If so, how much would you recommend? And how much profit would I be able to make within half a year or so?

Don't trade. Get a student job and buy Coins every month with your earned Money. That is what I did from 2014 till now.
Solid advice.  OP sounds more like he wants to put everything on red though.

OP sounds like he wants to invest not trade? I would say putting his christmas and birthday money into bitcoin is a sound idea especially since it would prevent him from spending it on things he will probably never need anyway. Its not like he is thinking to use money he can't afford to lose as some people have been doing.
42  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin heading to $4,000 on: July 22, 2017, 11:45:36 PM
$4000 or even higher is not a dream. We have already know that the price can fluctuate before August 1 because of hard fork, segwit uncertainty. Big investors or "the wales" are trying to accumulate more or just short term (maybe 1 or 2 days) investment hoping big profit. This is the nature of markets.

In my opinion in few weeks we are going to see new ATH for bitcoin.
i think it is not too late to reach to 4000$ in next few moths, i think bitcoin can cross that limit so easily.

Well the markets are headed up because the uncertainty about segwit is gone so I expect by August it will already be close to that. And I think the rest of the year it will do even better!!!
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Could BTC dissapear ? on: July 22, 2017, 11:43:35 PM
There are other coins that could do better and perhaps theoretically BTC can dissapear but it is both the first of its kind and the simplest crypto with a lot of hash power to protect it so I don't think its likely it will ever go away. It could however end up becoming a smaller coin than many others by marketcap, but that is a long time away if ever.

what planing the future about market exchange

It will go on the waves DEX, I think that is all that is really necessary though bigger exchanges will probably pick it up if it becomes popular anyway.
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit2x support growing day by day, WHY FORK FUD and PANIC on: July 20, 2017, 05:24:39 PM
@crazyivan, it is entirely possible that Bitmain may fork off to Bitcoin ABC regardless of BIP91 lock in. They have said they will not, but they may break that promise. Just because they can.

I would not count on that, WU and the gang hold too many BTC just to destroy it cause they can.

I understand the position of people not wanting miners control the code but up to now we ve had BTC core control the code. What s the difference? They all have their own interests and this is the weakness of decentralization. There need to be some kind of mechanism which makes decisions. Consensus of all involved parties NEVER takes place.

They won't destroy bitcoin because that is what earns them the most money. They aren't rich enough to risk their fortunes. In fact the rise in price today is just going to reinforce their wish to pursue BIP91.
46  Economy / Speculation / Re: it seems panic is stop. time to invest everything. on: July 20, 2017, 05:22:59 PM
I think the panic will not stop until after august 1st.... I expecting some price drop within this period. Hope for the best.

The best will be if you are to buy at the time the price drops, and the panic sell will continue to drop till after the day of segwit.

Segwit is already locking in today, thats why the price has risen so much. The next potential panic will start when they attempt the hardfork to 2 mb blocks in 3-6 months.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] ShadowToken for the highly rated Shadow Era TCG on: July 20, 2017, 09:35:21 AM
I've made my mathematics :-) :

4 Millions accounts created,
50% account activ, the 2 Millions accounts actives,
5% of these accounts spend only 5 $ par year, then
 5% of 2 millions = 100,000 accounts,
 $ 5 x 100,000 = $ 500,000

Not bad before ICO, and perhaps am I very low in my hypothesis...

No.

Your hypothesis is complete bs because you, like everyone else here, gets paid to create a MINDLESS post. You have no idea what you are talking about. Not that you give a shit because all you can think about is the money it generates. Shame on you.

All ICOS are by defintion scams, and this one in particular. The person behind this is "selling" a dead game, that is no longer in development (since 4 years), to it's "community". And they are supposed to fix it themselves.

He is cashing in. (It's actually much worse than this but who listens anyway?)

There is nothing special or unique about this game. It is in fact the worst of it's kind.

I know this game since 6 years. Read my posts.

I was going to ask if there is a development plan for the game considering the funds that will be raised because it is not written on the website, and its a shame if it really is a dead game.

Honestly though even if there is no new development its not necessarily a bad thing for something to be sold via ICO, but people should price it as an asset with limited future growth potential.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin finally legal in India on: July 20, 2017, 09:28:04 AM
I have a doubt that this is a fake news I also read the article that OP provide and look its fake rumors because the government of India not officially announced that Bitcoin is legal. But in other point its good if Bitcoin are officially legal in India we all know the potential of Bitcoin more and more country now a day are adopting Bitcoin because of its high price and bring a bright future to all of us. Smiley

The title is also misleading, it is already legal to use bitcoin in India it is just not recognized as a means of payment or currency.

Another thing people misunderstand is that countries legalizing or recognizing bitcoin doesn't mean shops will magically start accepting it as a form of payment. That will depend on user adoption and customer demand in shops.
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit2x on: July 20, 2017, 09:24:29 AM
The short version is that it is equivalent to a larger block size, in addition it fixes some issues with bitcoin and allows offchain solutions to come into play for future scaling.

So to answer your question yes SegWit is good for everyone.

Bittrex without a doubt is best choice if Starta wan hug invest and many of investors will join Starta ICO for sure.

For sure and hopefully the team has already been in touch with bittrex and other exchanges before the ICO even starts.
53  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin Volatility Be Controlled? on: July 04, 2017, 01:23:47 AM
Once the marketcap of bitcoin increases another 10x and doesn't have huge crashes we will see relative stability in price because at those levels it will take huge sums to move the price in either direction. I think just comparing bitcoin volatility now at its current marketcap to that of 3-5 years ago the trend is clear, higher valuation brings more stability.

In other words we don't need to do anything to achieve that, just wait. Obviously there will always be some volatility but it will be relatively stable like any mainstream fiat currency, or like gold.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Confirmation became really fast, what has happened? on: July 04, 2017, 01:21:20 AM

Well that's pretty shady.
I often hear about those "scam" attacks on the bitcoin network but I just thought it was some kind of a theory.

But that type of sudden decrease in the mempool size makes totally no sense to me !
Looks like there is some real stuff going on. It's been 3 days and the no. of unconfirmed transactions is pretty much 8k which is great.

Hopefully this type of small amount transaction pressure stops forever.

Well if it wasn't a spam attack on the network it means bitcoin isn't as popular as we thought it was which would be a bad thing. I'd rather believe we are just having a temporary quiet period rather than think bitcoin was actually failing both to scale and to be popular.
55  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will BTC be at $5,000? on: July 04, 2017, 01:19:17 AM
Once segwit is activated we will see $5000 within a week or 2. Remember bitcoin doesn't go up slowly it tends to take big jumps on nice events.
56  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should long term holders sell before August 1st? on: July 04, 2017, 01:17:46 AM

Pretty much this, besides I don't get the fear of August 1st because we are pretty much guaranteed to get Segwit now despite what you may feel about certain factions in the community. All I see after August 1st is a big take off.
57  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Investing in Bitcoin / Storage on: July 04, 2017, 01:14:47 AM
Cold storage is meant for long term storage like years. I understand you don't want to take a risk on an exchange but I would suggest you just use a clean pc for it (something you are sure is secure) and the choice of wallet doesn't matter just put a strong password on it and back it up on a usb drive.
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is instant way to get rich ? on: July 04, 2017, 01:11:59 AM
Bitcoin is a great investment but its a mistake to think of it as a way to instantly get rich because like anything it can run into troubles too.

Even though I don't think the current scaling issues will hold it back much longer it shows that bitcoin isn't invulnerable.

Its also this type of thinking that leads people to taking mortgages on their houses and dumping all their money into such an investment thinking it can never go wrong.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin and alts on: July 04, 2017, 01:06:26 AM
Crypto market obviously moves together but is it really bitcoin leading or does bitcoin fall because people cash out of alts, the line gets blurrier by the day I feel.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: buying on ICO on: July 04, 2017, 01:05:34 AM
ICO are hit and miss, you need to hit the right one to make it big but thats why diversification helps, if you invest on 5 good ICO then you are unlikely to lose.

I think Santiment, Tezos and EOS look interesting at the moment but EOS is a bit weird.
